Alijah is lost.

DNF @ 7%.
I picked this one mainly for the narration, because pseudo incest is lame. But also, its like not even pseudo incest and the title is misleading, because the romance is between the stepson, and the stepdad's brother.
Also, stepdad didn't want the brother around because he is a bad influence and his lifestyle choice (gay and gay erotica author). But then turns out, brother has been lusting after this kid for years, who is just turning 21 and who he hasn't seen since his 16th b'day... so maybe your brother doesn't want you around his stepson because you are a perv?
Um, ew, Lorenzo. You guys haven't even been in contact since he was 16 and you've been, what? Jerking it to the memory of a 16 yo?
Note, Alijah literally just showed up at his place. It's been a couple hours and his "uncle" is just going on about how luscious his lips are, and how svelte his body is.
And the “my ballerina” thing is super annoying.
Oh, but Michael Dean is doing a great job narrating.

An interesting romance with a controversial and thought provoking age gap between the two MCs. Spice and kink wise the story is pretty tame, and focuses more on the general relationship dynamics for the characters that want to or do practice BDSM lifestyles.
It took me a while to get into the story and connect with the characters and I think the lyrical - occasionally borderline poetic - prose is part of that. While that writing style might work for some stories it didn't hit home for me here, it rather felt a bit exaggerated - in the form of dramatic proclamations without the emotional depth to back it up. Still, it's not a bad book and tastes differ.
I did enjoy following Alijah in his process of going his own way, growing his confidence and gaining not only a romantic partner but a found family to be a part of.
As for narration, it was fine. I am a bit on the fence about Michael Dean, but maybe that's a taste thing too. All this said, if the book blurb appeals to you, don't let my lukewarm review get in your way of a potentionally good time ;)

It's a true privilege to be the first reviewer of this book.
This is a beautifully crafted story, combining in a very interesting way erotically sensual elements with elements about behavioral growth and personal self exploring, colored in emotionally diverse nuances.
A story that speaks quietly to the heart of the reader about the chasms, that the death of a family member creates in the lives of the grieving and how it shapes, affects and forms new life choices and outcomes.
A story about a boy that has grown in the shadow of domineering stepfather, so swamped in his grief and his beliefs, that he doesn't even realize how harmful his ways are for his stepson.
A story about a boy who remembers the times of joy, acceptance and encouragement, along with the quiet and the coldness while he grieves. He finds the strength to embrace who he is and to close the door to the past, chasing a dream, he was deprived off, after the death of his mother.
A memory of a loving and nurturing step uncle that turns into a pivotal moment for a crucial change.
All these threads the author has woven together, creating such a tender, compelling story with light Daddy/boy dynamics! But most of all, as a reader, I felt every emotion, rippling beneath the words, gracing the pages - the yearning, the longing, the love, the desire. And rolled together they slowly, naturally and very gently evolve into a unique relationship.
Enzo, a seasoned Dom in the kinky lifestyle, finds himself in unexpected situation when Alijah arrives, bringing all the hurt and loneliness, he grew up with. Their worlds collide, signaling a life altering change.
No less important is the cast of secondary characters Henry, Otto, Hugo, Zane, because there is a hint of more to come in the next books.
I loved the glimpses of the deep, wholesome friendship between Enzo and his best friend - Henry. And the way Alijah blossomed and morphed into the true version of himself, encouraged by both of them in different ways.
The ending definitely left me wanting to return back in this fictional world and see more of their new life.
