“Do you have a word for me?”

Will thought of the tangle of wild roses and blackberry brambles near the lake where they’d found Lucy Mather’s corpse and of the redwing blackbirds nesting there, safe among the thorns.

"Blackbird," he said.
This is extremely discussion-oriented and while that isn't bad per say I feel there is a lack of the quality of Will's analytical mind in this piece. In canon it takes Will a while to realize that Hannibal is the Chesapeake Ripper and emungere has obviously run with that canon to keep Will from picking up on Hannibal's clues but the problem lies in how he feels almost willfully blind here rather than keen to consider any angle, if only to solve the case in order to save lives and, more personally, stop Jack from breathing down his neck.

Perhaps if I was unfamiliar with the show I would enjoy this more but as it is I feel very little connection to the characters and everything feels too rose-tinted to be believable imo, their relationship lacking the raw passion I would expect with this pairing.
Hannibal released him, but stayed as he was, bent over him, hands on either side of Will's head, blocking out the sun.
