“Do you have a word for me?”This is extremely discussion-oriented and while that isn't bad per say I feel there is a lack of the quality of Will's analytical mind in this piece. In canon it takes Will a while to realize that Hannibal is the Chesapeake Ripper and emungere has obviously run with that canon to keep Will from picking up on Hannibal's clues but the problem lies in how he feels almost willfully blind here rather than keen to consider any angle, if only to solve the case in order to save lives and, more personally, stop Jack from breathing down his neck.
Will thought of the tangle of wild roses and blackberry brambles near the lake where they’d found Lucy Mather’s corpse and of the redwing blackbirds nesting there, safe among the thorns.
"Blackbird," he said.
Hannibal released him, but stayed as he was, bent over him, hands on either side of Will's head, blocking out the sun.
