KEHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA MY #1 FAVE NOVEL!! I just love them soo much💞
ngl Goodreads tricked me, I thought there were 8 volumes but this is just volume 1(season 1), can't believe all 800 chapters are just season 1😭
Trash of the Count's Family is a must-read. If comfort food was a novel this would be it. Cale, the main character, is what makes these adventures unique and interesting, despite it being similar to the typical adventure, fantasy, action novels.
Watching Cale being 10 steps ahead of the white star and smacking him in the back is always amusing to see. Every character presented in the novel is unique and fun. Some might say that this story plot keeps on repeating and repeating, going somewhere to scam bad people, gaining allies in the process, finding something amazing, then repeat. However, I disagree. Everything he does is not just some plot device to keep the story barely alive. Everything he does is important for the future. He really is big brain and I'm here for it.

okay so... I felt lots of different emotions while reading this part of the novel. I love the touching found family trope so much :( i love all the characters, i love how many characters are there, how they come back, how they take role in every thing that happens, how the plot twists enroll in the most unexpected way (at least for me). i becane emotionally attached to this novel since it has been a really great, long journey for me. its definitely my comfort novel.

i also found it refreshing that there is no romance in TOTCF. its really hard to find a good book with a good plot without romance i think. so thats just another reason for me to be in love with this even more.

i also found it touching to read author's notes and share those emotions with them 😭 i was so happy when part 2 was announced and its only 5 months wait. im so happy. i just live this novel with my whole heart.

this review of mine doesn't really focus on this part 700-776/+7extras. I wanted to mostly share my feelings about the whole experience since I need to vent at least a little.

If comfort food was a book. High Stakes, but still Cosy Fantasy?
There was this agonizing moment when I thought "this is it ! The last volume ! The end ! 😭" I didn't want to part with the characters I grew so fond of, so I dragged my feet through the last chapters. Then I was saved from my misery when I found out that there is a continuity to the story !!
The author blessed us with a second part. Part 1 "The birth of a Hero" ends here [Chapter 776+Side stories]. But a second part, with a new goal and a new plot, continues henceforth in the same world with the same characters. Basically, they just move on to what seems to be bigger and more mysterious issues. I am THRILLED 😄

Oh I love this book so much !! The plot, the characters, the world, the humour..😘 Its only shortcomings are the repetitions. Which make sense knowing that this was released over the span of 3 years, and the reader needed to be reminded of important details from weeks, months or even years ago. However, the story itself wasn't stretched. Everything had a purpose. The pieces of the puzzle fall perfectly in place for the main plotline.
Eventually , my enjoyment scale is overflowing. This is officially one of my top favourite books 😍

Merged review:

Epic Fantasy, Transmigration, Found Family, Adventure, Comedy, Dragons!
Chapters 281~321 of the web serialisation.
Let it be known that I hate the imperial prince Adin with PASSION!
On the inside, Cale was fuming. Adin, you bastard. You’re trash that doesn’t even deserve to be burned.
I have to say, the Author went berserk in this one. You thought the previous battles were chaotic? Ha! Beware and behold my friend! The war with the Mogor Empire has officially started.
Believe it or not, we've got more world building, more types of "magic", and more information about Cale's, aka Kim Roksu's, previous world. Significant information. I'll be holding my tongue for this one..

Because anything can be a spoiler, here's some safe comedic relief:
Pale-faced, Hilsmann quickly supported Cale as he staggered and collapsed. Cale’s hands were shaking fiercely, and there was blood coming out of his mouth and nose.

Cale hacked up blood uncontrollably. Everyone from the Empire could see it.
These useless Ancient Powers! Damn it!
He wasn’t in pain, nor was he hungry. His body had stabilized almost right away thanks to the Energy of the Heart, but he was still bleeding for some reason.
[...]
“H-how can this be, my lord? Oh, my stars! My goodness! You said you were only going to use a little! My heart is positively ripping into pieces! Rowoon’s hero cannot be seen like this!”
..
“My looooord! I’m about to die of a broken heart! Hic… Th-there’s so much blood! Healer, healer! Where is the healer?!” Hilsmann’s eyes were bloodshot, as if he’d popped a vein. His neck veins bulged as he shouted, red-faced, “Hurry up and call the healer to save my young master, to save the Kingdom of Rowoon’s hero! It’ll be dangerous if he faints again!”

Cale was utterly lost. Has he gone crazy?

He had told Hilsmann to play along and match what he did, but the man seemed to be trying for an award or something as he acted his heart out.

‹Uh, um, human, are you okay? I want to say something too, but I can’t because the vice-captain’s talking so much.›

It was so excessive that the six-year-old dragon struggled to get a word in edgewise.

‹Human, are you okay?› Concerned though Raon was, dragons were vicious. ‹If you feel like you’re going to faint or your body is going to break, just let me know. I’ll destroy everything and take you to the Eastern Continent to loot all the baddies’ safes! I’m warning you!›

Raon huffed a small sigh when he saw how Cale was looking at Hilsmann. ‹Whew, what a relief! My human is looking at the talkative Hilsmann as if he’s pathetic! You must really be okay, human. I’m so glad!›

Arcs included in this volume:
1. The Empire vs The Whipper Kingdom, 1st Battle
2. The Empire vs The Whipper Kingdom, 2nd Battle
3. The Empire's Attack on The Jungle
4. The Alchemist Bell Tower Part I

799 chapters, 2.2mils words count. This is the longest novel I read so far, and it is far from ending. Can’t wait to read Part 2. Lovely story, love the found family aspect. A lot of unexpected twist. Writer-nim is genius to write this. Love love love, highly recommended.

This volume features two massive confrontations : the Battle of Maple Castle and the battle in the Jungle. As expected, the battle scenes were incredibly tense and thrilling to read. Even when it seems like Cale's side has the upper hand, the author masterfully throws them into dire situations that had me genuinely anxious for Cale and his crew! 😆

The biggest shocker for me was Kim Rok Soo's original world, it was completely beyond my expectations! 😲 I always assumed he came from an ordinary modern Korea, so I was mind blown when it was revealed that his original world was full of monsters and ability users 😲

Also, my hatred for the Mogor Empire, especially Adin and the Tower Master, has reached an all time high 😡
I seriously can't wait to see Cale tear down the Bell Tower and put Adin in his place! 😆

Overall, this novel continues to be fantastic. The world building, characters, and plot are top tier and endlessly entertaining!! 😍

Web novel chapters: 281-321

This volume covers the battles in Whipper and the Jungle against the Mogor Empire's invasion.

If you have followed my previous reviews, I haven't been too wowed by this series. While there were certainly many parts that I have enjoyed and others that I thought held promise of something down the line after some time building up toward that promise, I wasn't too impressed with many other things and found things that I thought were lacking to the story's detriment. Then we get to the war. The war began at the end of Volume 6 and is still ongoing so far. Volume 7 brought the story into the section I had been waiting for, and Volume 8 kept it running.

Honestly, I had such a great time with this volume. I was engaged with the battle scenes, which I've always found hard to do in novels compared to manga or manhwa. Choi Han needing to fight without his aura seemed like a great short-term challenge for him after his feats in Henituse territory. And the despair nearly overcoming him plays into the darkness he carries with him that hasn't been too delved into in the story so far.

And Mary! One of my greatest criticisms of the series is the lack of character moments or prolonged story arcs that get proper focus in the plot. It's plagued the series for quite a while, but Mary's plotline development is what I've been asking for from the side cast. Things are looking up with the covert op into the Mogor Empire for next volume because it's bringing Saint Jack & Saintess Hana back into the forefront because of revelations this book and for their revenge. As for revelations, those were worked in well to raise the stakes and develop the background of the world, especially Mogor.

What really sold this volume for me was Cale. Cale went off. He never wants the limelight or to put himself forward as the big hero of anything, yet he could not do that this time. I got chills when, despite all his plans, he had to ruin all of them to shut Mogor's plans with the golems and the dead mana down. When he used his new and improved fire Ancient Power and turned the whole sky red, my jaw dropped! Like, Cale??? Holy, he looked like a hero out of the tales of legend--no a god. Cale was the hero this time.

Read it in a few days. Once I started the climax I couldn’t put it down. But why’d he have to include the Hunters? Can’t poor Cale ever become the slacker of his dreams?

This is the best volume yet, & it keeps getting better.

Personal notes:

Things to look out for, aka have been brought up as future plot points but hasn’t been revisited yet:
- cat berserk info (or cat tribe info in general)
- Ron’s progress on the eastern continent w/ the inn (& crashing Arm’s base aka HIS family’s old base)
- Raon’s family/dragon heritage
- the book of death one time use (& hopefully a way to save Goldie gramps???)
- half-blood dragon, now just human
- Raon getting the world tree’s seed(?)
- Arm stole a branch of the world tree
- ancient power warning Cale about sky attributes
- Raon being a dragon lord
- the dragon slayer type ancient powers the fake dragon slayer had (& the blood thirsty crown)

Things to remember that was brought up in this volume:
- both twins are legit saint/saintess. arm came to the western continent to find the things(?) of the god of sun & destroy them
- sir Rex being supported to be emperor by Albert & Cale
- currently in the works of exposing the empire with their alchemy tower & them bringing back dark magic
- Mary becoming OP (able to fight evenly against Choi Han & her following in the footsteps of the Queen of death)
- tower master is a Lich. Knows they have a dragon on their side & mentioned needing to tell the white star about Cale accumulating the Ancient Powers, & them needing to stop him before he gets more
- white star has wind, water, fire & earth attributes according to the tower master (just like Cale)
- Cale’s ancient powers seemed to be the ones who fought against dark magic in the ancient times
- Cale has given up on staying in the background because he is too mad about everything & wants to get this over with as fast as possible, not just for himself, but for all the victims (empire’s prince now knows Cale has been the mastermind all along)
- Whipper battle & sector 7 battles occurred
- Bears & Dwarves are on Cale’s side & we had a brief encounter with the lions
- people think Cale is dead

I will forever enjoy Cale baffling everyone around him, then wandering off thinking they absolutely understood.
Cale, those inside thoughts you have? They should be outside thoughts if you want people to actually understand what you meant.

I still have hope for this series... but so many characters have been forgotten and seem to be on standby for when Cale calls for them or teleports them in.
Like what was the point of teleporting in Jack, for shock value? for getting the believers? He didn't even seem to use his abilities.
Kage, Hana and other characters seem to be left behind. I wish they were more incorporated like it was when Lark was struggling with his berserk state. Still have no idea how they will turn Rex into a new Emperor.

This feels like a set up novel although the battle between Wipper and Empire is a major plot point. I did like the ancient power display and how Cale "consumed" his fire power, I wonder if he will stop hearing the voice of the cheapskate. The branch vine battle in Jungle was awesome too. But I think the author doesn't really know where to go with the story of double agent play and was like fuck it. Cale got angry and went full in.
Technically we still have the Karo Prince who is a double play agent but again not much action from him right now.

I will still continue with the series, I do love the powers and the battles but it's losing me a bit.

Cale Henituse and his friends are in the Kingdom of the Whipper to help the crazy Tunka face down a seemingly insurmountable army from the Empire. It wouldn’t be so bad…if Cale didn’t have to keep his involvement a secret. But when he discovers just how evil Prince Adin and the alchemists are, Cale must choose between playing them quietly or fighting them head-on.

This volume is a battle-focused story, no question. Almost the entire book is about Cale fighting the Empire in Whipper or the jungle. Despite that, it was still a fun book — except for the parts where you learn about all the awful and inhumane things the Empire has done over the years. Typical of this series, there are some melodramatic moments. That combined with the war-heavy plot dinged the star rating to a 3.5, but the plot moved along enough that it didn’t come across as pure filler.

FOUND FAMILY??? FANTASY?? TRANSMIGRATION?? REINCARNATION??? REGRESSION?? DRAGONS?? ELVES?? MAGES?? NECROMANCERS?? BEAST PEOPLE??? GODS?? SACRIFICIAL MC?? DIFFERENT DIMENSIONS?? FLUFF?? ANGST?? IT'S ALL HERE AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I am so so attached to Cale help me!! give that man the slacker life he deserves!! LET HIM FARM!!!!

I love how different KRS perceives himself from the way his family sees him :(( He deserves all the love and care he was deprived of from his previous life (fuck White Star and his reincarnation's effect). KRS is very quick-witted and it seriously showed in the novel after his knowledge from TBOAH ended and he was left to plan all on his own and with some help from his newfound family without any information from the future. He's insane!! A rightful commander, that's what he is. mygod. (But still, let him rest)

I'm so hyped for whatever will happen in part 2 cause I just want that man to smack every hunter's back (prob some of the gods too, fuck their laws) and finally just slack lmao.

I want to see them finally in peace and calmly feel the happiness the characters deserve.

This novel might be comedic and all on the surface, but the way there's so much darkness, loss, and pain underlying all of that farce just hurts. The numerous sacrifices, tortures, and deaths... Fuck the villains and their hideous desires, man. Especially in the timeline of TBOAH, when even the side characters died :<

Everyone would be rightfully (may be unwillingly for someone) recorded in history because of their feats but at least let them live in the peace they all worked so hard to obtain. <3

Trash of the Count's Family Volume 08
Completo
5 ⭐
