God damit it Tara Brown, I'm so mad at you! I'm mad at you for 2 reasons. 1. If I knew this book had vampires and werewolves I probably never would have read it. I'm just not that kind of girl. But I did and I freaking LOVED it. Great, now you turned me into that girl! And reason 2. What the hell, holy cliffhanger and when is the second book coming out!?
This book blew me away. I just love reading books with strong female main characters. I really dug Amillia's feisty, dangerous and slightly sex crazed character. And the sex scene, wheewww - that was awesome. Not enough YA books have sex. Probably cause they are marketed to teens and not 30 year old moms like me.
Overall LOVED it. Can't wait for the next one to come out!

When I first read the summary and saw the 4 & 5 star reviews for "Vengeance" I couldn't wait to read it. Unfortunately, this book just was not for me. "Vengeance" is a nonstop convoluted mess with scene after scene hinting at or bordering on violence and the rape of women.
The story centers on a princess, Millia, who is a tomboy and refuses to marry the men her oldest brother lines up for her. Then, one day, Millia is forced to leave the castle via her pet dragon after her brother sells out her family.
Millia is flung into a world of fighting and killing in short making her an assassin. She is at the beck and call of two witches who outfit her with a locket that reveals her target. It takes seven kills before she even begin questioning why she must kill her victims. Really? Oh, and did I mention she falls in love with every good looking stud she sees?
I had so many problems with this storyline that at times I thought I would not finish the book. So much was just thrown at the reader whether it made sense or not and as I stated earlier, I quickly grew tired of the references to rape and blatant disrespect of the female characters. No, I'm not a prude. I enjoyed erotica but this was disgusting at times.
Not all books are for everyone and this one just was not right for me. Read it for yourself and decide.

Okay, I’m a HUGE fan of Tara Brown a/k/a AE Watson a/k/a TL Brown a/k/a Erin Leigh a/k/a Sophie Starr. Whew! I thinks that it. Yeah, she has loads of pen names, I know. But I love them all. The Reborn Series is an top ten ultimate favorite.
This one didn’t disappoint either. Although I must say that Millia’s mindset of ‘all or nothing’ got a bit old throughout the story. She wanted it all and if she couldn’t have it then it was like she couldn’t have anything. I have a hard time dealing in absolutes so it was very difficult not to want to slap her. Also, I found her a bit self centered. But that is to be expected considering she has always been allowed to do whatever she wanted growing up and the fact that she’s only 18.
This story was great. It was packed with lots of violence, and magic was at play around every corner. Everyone had some kind of magic that affected their role, and it kept surprising me what those roles were. AE has a tendency to alter the way my mind thinks about what is expected of a protagonist in a story. Usually leaving me meloncholy at the end of the story. This one was no exception.
This story made me so angry. I was upset at Grayson’s behavior towards the end. I was angry at Maddox for leading her on then pushing her away. I was upset that her love life was dictated by her role and not by personal preference. Why does love have to be so complicated?
As per usual, this wasn’t just some average love story, it had a slew of twists and turns throughout along with a dash on intrigue as well. Millia is a proficient killer and never hesitates to extract vengeance when needed. Thats one of the things I loved most about her was her unwavering confidence that what she was doing was just. She left a trail of broken hearts in her wake. Although her blind acceptance of help from stangers was, at times, irritating, she was able to get out of most scrapes with little to no help, making her strong in substance but weak when it came to matters of the heart. It was an interesting contrast.
Go forth and read ALL her books.

I just want to devour everything this author writes! So after finishing 'The Lonely' I needed more...yes, that's the type of author Tara Brown is! You NEED more! So I searched my kindle and lucky me I had 'Vengeance' sitting there waiting for who knows how long just waiting to be discovered! I got myself really comfy for it and made sure I was to have no distractions. This author demands attention when her pen hits the paper. It steals you away to another time and place and I had to make time for that!
'Vengeance' is such a brand new concept for me that I got lost... I knew it was going to happen...I don't even know where to start about how full of awesome this book is! The atmosphere, the time and place is loaded up into your mind and you get to lose yourself in a mini movie while you read! No really, you do! What Tara Brown has created for you is a book with exceptional characters that you are plunged into everything that's going on around you! PLUNGED.
Amillia is a strong female lead. She knows what she wants. She knows how to defend herself. She also knows how to kick some serious booty! Amillia has secrets. Secrets that she's kept for so long and when it comes time to defend and get vengeance for all the wrongs she finds herself surrounded by people and creatures she didn't know existed! She has so much to do with little choice but to do them. Amillia is thrown into a path that leads to a lot of deceit and blood shed. There is so much blood on her hands...will she lose herself? She discovers that everything she might have known might be false. She discovers that even when you love with all your heart, fate doesn't have to hand it over to you. She finds herself around many allies, but still alone in what she is and what she must do. When her one and only friend, Artan, is all she has to rely on, will she find her strength? Wow!! Thrilling, Enchanting and Vengeance!
*I haven't read the original, only the revised version, so my review is based solely on the new version. Although I believe the plot is all the same, just edited to be more YA friendly.
I am a huge fan of Tara's! She has the capibility to draw you into her madness and keeps you there until you devour her every word. And I got nothing less of greatness with this story of Revenge. Suspense, secrets, love, betrayal, a pet Dragon, witches, wolves, and especially Vengeance! All the great things that make an Awesome book!
Amillia is a princess hell bent on being her own person. She would rather be out training with the guards then to get all dressed up and attend royal balls. She is fiesty, strong willed and later becomes one heck of an assassin!
When her father is murdered, her kingdom set ablaze, and she is betrayed by her brother, she vows Vengeance on everyone that has wronged her family, included the man (Herrick) her brother tried to give her hand in marriage too. There are secrets and lies at every turn.
Running away with her only friend, her Dragon - Artan, she sets out on her path to seek Vengeance on those that betrayed her and avenge the death of her loved ones. She believes her love, Maddox, to be dead. Her father is dead, her brother becoming a ruthless ruler, her mother and other 2 brothers missing, she seeks solace with 2 witches she stumbles upon.
They give her a deal, they will help her get her revenge, but she must do it their way, no questions asked. When she is told to kill, she kills. Her charmed bracelet will tell her who her mark is. And she is good at it, letting Vengeance into her heart, becoming her sole purpose for living.
All the while she is fighing her feelings for Grayson. She spent a lifetime loving Maddox, only to be rejected over and over again. But, now he's back, and her heart still loves him. He still refuses her, she is a princess and has a path she must follow to fulfill the prophecy of uniting all the kingdoms and righting all the wrongs. I'm excited to see how the story unfolds in the next book!

Wow! Tara Brown has done it!
She has left me bewildered and speechless.
Vengeance, perfect title, perfect word. I must say though once I thought I figured it out, she threw me for a loop and made me second guess myself time and time again.
It starts off so gently, soothing... Leaving you with a feeling of tranquility. But Whoa! Hold on!
Meet Amillia, a princess who loves one man with her heart and soul, but he won't have her, yet he loves her to her amazement. Then to confuse matters in comes the bar boy who is really a prince, but also a shifter.
She learns her family is not what she always thought or believed it to be. Her oldest is overthrowing the kingdom killing off his family so that he can rule to her betrothed who is his step brother.
Now if you can get your head around that one, continue on, it's full of love, romance, suspense and yes it will touch you to the very core.
Hats off to Tara who leaves you with a cliff hanger...

My good friend recommended this book as we usually have similar tastes, but I'm afraid we differed in opinion.
The book started off very promising with an interesting main character, a pet dragon, and a family betrayal. However, it went downhill from there. The plot had so many odd twists and turns that did not make any sense and three different love interests that I couldn't keep track of who she liked best. There was simply too much going on that it started not making any sense. The main character who started off as bad ass started annoying me with her fickleness.
Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be checking out the second installment.

A story of love, the harsh truth of betrayal, and the rocky road to vengeance. Amillia, your not so typical Princess is strong willed, spicy and can kick some major butt. Couple that with the poor decisions she makes and her raging hormones and we have ourselves a loose cannon. I loved her character because of those things, she was real and anything but the typical heroine that sits up on a pedestal brushing her hair waiting to be rescued, she was relatable. Driven from her home by the worse kind of betrayal, family betrayal, our royal spiceness finds herself homeless and amongst the common folk. Her only trust worthy companion being Artan, a wonderful animal that adds a soothing effect to not only Amillia but to the reader as well. With pure anger surging through her veins and multiplying by the minute she is determined to get to the root of what happened to her home, only her journey reveals truths she wasn't quite prepared for. Her mission sends her on a spiraling quest that leaves her wanting only one thing: BLOOD. Not just any blood but the blood of those responsible. The suspense teeters on the brink as she savagely makes her way to the worst of them hoping to instill a fear in him leaving him only one thought; her wrath is coming for him. Don't be fooled into thinking that our dear princess is all alone, in fact there are two hunky men, Maddox and Greyson, just waiting to be her helping hand, in more ways than one. Even if confusing her heart of cold is the majority of what they manage they still try to help. Two comical characters, and by far my favorite, Katy and Mani the wacky witches offer us a breath of fresh air amongst the chaos. They become guides of sort and direct her to what she wants to be doing most...getting bloody.

I read the first version of Vengeance what seemed like forever ago, and I could not put it down. My "just one chapter" turned in to me heading in for a twelve hour night shift on maybe an hour of sleep. I was ecstatic when I saw that Tara Brown was releasing a sequel and thanks to Facebook I discovered that before reading the second book I should read the revamped, young adult rewrite of this book first. I was a little concerned that I would be disappointed by any changes made, since I was such a huge fan of the original version, but my fears were definitely unfounded! For one, it was long enough ago that I read it that I couldn't really remember specific details and although this was a less "steamy" version, there's still plenty of gore and heat to keep things interesting. I love the blend of paranormal romance with fantasy... It's like a fairy tale meets Twilight and I'm totally into it. And oh my gosh, the love triangle! I'm so torn by both Maddox and Grayson (I love those names too, by the way) and I'm admittedly frustrated by them both. I actually begged a friend to read this book so she can help me decide who to root for! What can I say? This book is fun!
By the way, I read this one without stopping too, but at least this time I didn't start before work! ;)
Note: When I originally read this book I gave it five stars... The fact that I'm now giving it four is in no way a statement that I liked the original version better. I've just changed the way I rate books a little since then.

May I ask what the heck happened? What type of author is this that she freaking has a mediocre beginning but a horribly written end?

Anyways, can't say it isn't my own fault. I went and read this as an eBook off no recommendation, basically going into it blind. At least I didn't get it in tangible form. So, basically this is a story about a princess who of course has a dragon. She is 4th in line to the throne but of course she is the rightful prophesised about heir to it, according to her aunts who are witches. Hmm. She is moody and makes a randomly placed transformation from little girl obsessed with a dude to some freakishly good assassin. That is a little strange, also the fact that this character agrees to killing anyone her aunts want her to do does not make me like the main character at all. Her name is not helpful in any case. Also, let me go back to my ranting about the freaking ending. I hated it. It not only was unnecessarily sexually graphic but was also very very disturbing with their love triangle. The freak. Please do not read it. It is not a good story. I have no idea what the author was attempting to convey, but it was not successful in any respect.

I love Tara Brown's stories, some more than others, and with this one I was more than frustrated with Amillia. She has relationship issues galore. Let's see, she has the childhood sweetheart with commitment issues, the bad boy rebound lover who is all wrong for her, and then the betrothed. I can't say more without giving it away, but the constant semi- floozy behavior of this so called princess drove me crazy. I stuck with the story because for a princess, she has so e serious testicular fortitude. She dual wields some badass swords and is one hell of an assassin, and she can drink, cuss and gamble with the best of them. As a character, she was almost anti-heroine, but she has enough good in her to keep you reading to see what happens next. I have already read and rated many of atara's books, and will continue to recommend her books to others.

This was a fantastical tale that had a lot going on - I'm giving it 3.5 stars. Amillia is a princess who pretty much runs wild as a child - she has a secret dragon as a pet and a brother she hates. When she is almost 18, her brother tries to make her marry Herrick, a neighboring prince, which Millia is fighting. She loves Maddox, the stable boy! Next thing you know, her family and village are attacked, her father is killed, her other brothers, mother and grandmother taken hostage, and her hated brother assumes the crown - he was behind the attack. Millia escapes and ends up with some witches who guide her on her path of vengeance. There was so many twists and turns, wolves, vampires, witches, dragons, magic, fighting, killing, etc. that it was kind of hard to keep everything straight. It was an interesting book, though.

The only thing I hated about this book, is the fact book 2 is not out !!!! Talk about cliff hanger! I actually yelled Nooooooo ! I am devouring every book you write, with enthusiasm. Hurry up with book 2 already, lol.

While the book touch touch on the sensitive subject of rape, it is a common happening in the era the book is written in. To omit it would be like removing a key background from the story, taking away the "whole picture". Tara broaches the subject tastefully and artfully as possible. It in no way should stop you from reading this wonderfully magical book.

I had so many problems with this book. First, I will always notice inconsistent verb tenses and sloppy punctuation. Edit, edit, edit, and edit again. My biggest complaints with this book, however, were the believability of the characters and the flawed storyline. Repeatedly, I wondered if the author had ever bothered to engage members of a critique group after writing the first draft. This read just like a first draft, without the benefit of helpful peer reviews and feedback.
Because I've already spent tortured hours reading this book, I'm not going to spend any more time detailing its shortcomings. Revise and edit. Edit and revise.

Painful to get through..spoilers ahead
So this book was just bad. I’ll say one of the worst books I’ve read on kindle and I read a lot.
Cons:
-A brave girl who just believes and listens to women she met 2 seconds before.. keep in mind this is the same girl who fought everyone
- the story is rushed and unexplained. Millla knows nothing.
- she falls in love not once but twice so like 75% of the story is her whining about who she can or can’t have.
- one man she loves “eats people” and no one seems to care or know what he is like yeah ok...
- she has a dragon who doesn’t talk (maybe just me but I read a lot of dragon books and I am use to a bond and at least mental conversation. You won’t get that here)
- we spent the ENTIRE book waiting for her to get revenge on the main villain in the story just to NOT get vengeance like that irritated my soul
- she goes from never having killed a soul to just an outright killer
Pros:
- good storyline just terrible execution.
- fight scenes were decently written
I finished the book out of curiosity thinking it would get better but nope. Won’t be reading the next one sorry!

I struggled to finish this book. It doesn't matter if it is ranked as YA: I've read many good YA books and know what to expect from them. This book doesn't deliver.
At the beginning, it was acceptable. Some minor issues apart, the plot was interesting and the FMC was unique. Her encounter with the dragon was interesting too. But when she arrived at Watergate City and started to murder people, things began to go south: a trauma which is not described as one; people holding information for... reasons; people spreading information out of the blue for... reasons; an MC very fierce and, at the same time, with little agency (everybody else knows more than her and she is constantly manhandled for the sake of the plot); an allegedly love interest with less fire than a candle; a dragon functioning like a taxi cab; entire sections with no information; entire sections purely info dump; etc., etc., etc.
Badly written, with poorly developed characters, and childish vibes of a story intended for NA readers (as the author explains...), this book was a waste of my time.

This series must be read in order. This is the first book. I can't wait to read "Vanquished"!

Then her brother Roland betrothes her to a horrible Prince and her whole life gets destroyed and she is set on the path of revenge. Will she be able to avenge her fallen family and save what is left of it? How did this come to pass? How could Roland be so evil?
***This series is suitable for adult readers who enjoy high fantasy with gritty edges and Princesses who are who refuse to break no matter the cost :)

this book had the potential to be really good. it started out ok and i had hoped it would stay good however this was was a failure for me. too much swearing, particularly the most dreadful F word... an explicit sex scene and after Millia grew up she became extremely annoying and I had a hard time liking her or even wanting her to succeed in her mission of revenge. I felt there were a lot of holes in the story that needed to be filled in and at times I had to read parts twice as the story also felt a little jumpy to me. all that aside though if she would have left out the profanity and sex I would have liked this more.

This was an interesting read. I was excited going into it, once read I can say it was enjoyable. Imagine being a young girl and you life was not what you imagined. You have a destiny to fulfill and everyone around you knows the answers but you. There was are so many things I say in this book. I like and dislike the characters, but that's normal. I like the good and bad roles they play. I'm intrigued by the h being the one who saves and not being saved all the time.

Wow Tara has done it again!!!
I am a huge fan of Tara and her writing. She have a way to jus draw you in her stories and keeps you there until you read every last word. And it was perfect story of vengeance, suspense, secret and betrayal.
Such a fascinating, enchanting and mysterious read!! And holy freaking sh*t all the suspense and twists kept me on edge and left me wanting so much more! And damn that cliffhanger. I m so excited to see what happens in book 2 now !!

This book was good. It had so many positive things about it. There is one character in this book that everyone will agree to say, was RUBBISH and horrid and ergh. But the main Character was so strong and independent and was always keeping real and being human. I like when characters feel real.
This was my second attempt at reading it, but I am so glad I gave it another go.

Please kill me,i read half the book before giving up,and seriously best decision ever.the editing is probably the worst part,the love story go in circle,i really do want to tear my eyes of for a moment,and so much repetitive sentence.

Very impressive
The last book I read by this author fell a bit flat for me. This book was a sample at the end of that one. The author reaffirmed that she has mad skills with this new trilogy. I look forward to the next book.
