Fantasy, sci-fi, psychological thriller: totally brilliant. Please make this a TV series!!! Narrated by Jessica Chastain + 6 more, for fans of Arrival.
Though this is not my usual genre, I did enjoy this read. The full cast narration helps! When 7 year old Sophie vanishes and is found later telling weird stories, Psychiatrist Dr. Madelyn Weir is approached and reluctantly accepts to treat Sophie, embarking them both in a surreal experience. Entertaining and a great audiobook experience. It ends on a cliff hanger!
The Space Within was a compelling and intriguing listen. It’s my first “audible original” podcast and it is very similar to “graphic audio” books. The narration by the actors was excellent and the sound effects were great. The story was fast-paced and immediately hooked me. The main character is awesome! I’ll be listening to season 2 five mins from now.
This was so good! I remember listening to this when it first came out, however, since season 2 came out (and I had a long drive) I decided to re-listen to season 1 and go straight into season 2.
If you like alien abduction type stories, this is definitely for you! It was so good and with that cliffhanger ending, I am glad I got to jump straight into season 2!
This is fine. Nothing special. I plan on finishing Part 2, but it’s nothing I’m super excited about.
I also hate that it’s in podcast form on Audible. It kept messing up my location and trying to replay already listened to episodes. Which, truthfully, could be impacting my enjoyment of the series. Guess we will see!
3.5 stars. Great cast narration. Dropped half a star because it ends on a cliffhanger. If the story is good enough, folks will seek out the next installment without a cliffhanger. Interesting storyline.
Finally, an immersive book. Easy and engaging listen. Highlights the resistance of the scientific (psychology) community to recognise an unexpected premise and the impact when one psychologist does. Full cast audio!
It’s an audible original but it’s not a book. It’s a podcast. So people are performing a story. And the lead character is played by Jessica Chastain who is one of my favorites.
Finally, a book that can really get me immersed. This is an interesting premise. I love books about first contact. This is the first audiobook of a radio play? Really engaging.
I stumbled across this one in the Audible Plus library as Jessica Chastain voiced the main character. But I really enjoyed this one (so much so I downloaded the sequel which had just been released). There’s content in here that some readers might want more detail on - check out at the end for more information.
Here we follow Chastain’s Maddie, a world leading trauma psychiatrist, whose new client is a troubled girl who disappeared for 6 hrs with no memory of what happened or where she went. And that’s when things start to go a little weird. Maddie’s thrust into investigating what happened to the little girl, whilst putting her own life in danger.
This was a cracking listen - the dramatics really come out with the podcast production and the storytelling was great. Chastain’s narration, as is the full cast that joins her.
