Dr. Haley Bowman has everything she’s ever wanted as a once-underprivileged green witch from the outskirts of Greenville, North Carolina. The youngest ever doctoral graduate from the Magical Histories department at the National Academy of Magic. A very steady job with the leading North American branch of The Annex, where she’s paid to read all day. A fantastic group of friends, a beautiful home, and a car that does more than get her from place to place.
And now she’s going to die.
Dr. Seaton Randall was once a lot of things. He was the youngest ever doctoral graduate from the National Academy of Magic. He was the most skilled green wizard on the whole eastern coast. And he was blissfully in control of his own life and future.
Now, if Haley Bowman dies, he dies with her.
Fate throws Haley and Seaton together on the evening of Haley’s twenty-seventh birthday, with matching marks and an inability to be apart from one another for more than a week. But maybe, just maybe, waking up as soulmates with someone you loathe is a fate worse than death.
Shanna resides in Raleigh, North Carolina, with her two cats, a million hobbies, and a few deeply passionate dreams. After college, she flourished in a career of story-telling through data analysis. When pushing Excel buttons grew too monotonous, she decided it was time to put pen to paper again (okay, fingers to keys…), and draft the stories that played out in her mind while falling asleep or doing the dishes or walking, breathing, showering, eating…You get the picture.
SO👏🏻FREAKIN👏🏻GOOD👏🏻 I’ll be the first to admit I love an enemies to lovers trope and this one delivered everything I wanted and more. Haley was already miserable about waking up with the mark and it just got worse when she realized Seaton was her soulmate since she’s spent the better part of a decade hating him. The way their situation developed was so great, the tension was always at a super high level and them trying to not give in to it was 🤌🏻 flawless, truly. I loved that Seaton cherished how brilliant Haley was and how supportive of her he was through the majority of the book (it was a bit dodgy in the beginning). There’s some really beautiful moments in this that brought tears to my eyes. Also some deliciously spicy ones🥵 The side characters in this were so amazing and definitely brought a lot of levity to a pretty dire situation. The ending of this was absolutely perfect. This was an extremely enjoyable read.
