In her first installment of a new series, author Cari Lynn Webb shows readers that sometimes love comes when we least expect it.
The Blackwell brothers learn that family is worth fighting for when they’re called home to the family horse racing ranch after their father dies. Asher’s life is in New York and he only intends to fix the problems in Gold Finch, Kentucky and head home. He isn’t counting on falling for the pretty chef he’s hired for the long weekend celebrations.
I enjoyed the reminders about seeing the best in things, not the worst and that the greatest victory isn’t in winning the race, but in finding something lasting, like love.
I’m looking forward to getting to know these characters a bit better in the second installment.

A Cowboy to Call Her Own is book 1 of Cari Lynn Webb's new series, "The Bluegrass Blackwells." It is set in the heart of Kentucky horse farms, and is wrapped up in horses and horse racing.
It is a sweet story of the growth of friendship between Asher and Kelley, how they work together to help each other out. The before-breakfast dance together which Kelley's sister instigated supposedly in preparation for her wedding was a cute opening.
Having lived in Texas and Montana, I was a little put off by the terms, and somewhat overuse, of "her cowboy" and "his cowgirl." Otherwise it's a fun read.
If you enjoy sweet contemporary romance, with a touch of mystery and a dose of faith, then I suggest this for your TBR list.

A touch of romance set in kentucky book, one a cowboy to call her own.
Faith and love what else do you need.
I've read other books by this author and they've all been absolutely wonderful.

The Blackwell's horse, poised to win the third of the Triple Laurel Legacy Circuit race, has been suspended for doping. Asher Blackwell knows that his deceased father would never, NEVER have permitted that in his stables. And yet here they are. A Cowboy To Call Her Own by Cari Lynn Webb is part of a series spin-off from the Blackwells. I read it as a standalone, and it was fine, though it felt like maybe I was missing some backstory. When I first started the book, I didn’t realize it. Though overall I enjoyed this story, I could not put it down. I look forward to finding out about the rest of Blackwell’s.
Asher Blackwell has come home to see if he can save his family's racing stables. Something doesn’t quite seem to be adding up. Kelley has returned home after her divorce. Trying to figure out what is next for her. She is a master in the kitchen, so when Asher and Kelley end up running into each other, it only makes sense to ask Kelley to cater for the ranch.
This cowboy romance was perfect with kisses only. With the perfect balance of chemistry.

A Cowboy To Call Her Own. When Walter Blackwell of Blackwell Racing Stables dies, his cousin Big E is called to come and help keep the stables going. When he goes to the final race of the Laurel Legacy Triple Crown to watch their horse Sovereign’s Pride that has won the last two races, he gets told that their horse tested positive for drugs so he couldn’t run. That in the horse racing world is considered bad business and it can kill your business as they were sanctioned plus fined. Big E calls Asher in New York to come home. He comes for a two week visit but when he gets home he finds out that they have lost employees now to the other stables including the cook they have employed for years. So Asher has to figure out how to get meals for the employees so they can work with the horses. He also has to get busy working the horses as all hands were needed on deck. When he gets Kelly to start cooking meals for the employees she has to do it on the side since she is working at the diner. She figures this will give her extra money to help get her started again as her husband pushed her out of their restaurant and they divorced. She move back home to get back on her feet and went back to working the diner as she did in high school. She had went to culinary school and could make great food but her boss would not allow her to mess with the menu. So this side job working with Asher was giving her plenty of freedom to create dishes that was going over with raves from the stable employees. During this time Asher and Kelly start getting close but both say they are not wanting a romance as both have plans of leaving town. When Asher is challenged about a horse being to young and not ready for racing is told by the stable manager he knew more than Asher he takes the horse anyway to race that day and Asher leaves to go back to work in New York. He just could not get it together like before he left as he only could think of Kelly. Kelly figures out that she can only work if she doesn’t just keep moving to keep Asher off her mind. But when Big E calls Asher to tell him that one of the horses he wanted to sell had a buyer interested, he also told him he was right about that horse they took to race. Big E hears the sound in Asher’s voice that something was not right. Asher tells him that he just is having problems getting back into his work and Big E tells him his heart is missing what he had back home. So that leaves Asher with a decision of leaving his high paying job to go back where he left years ago to try to build up the stables again, and see if Kelly might actually want a romance as she is all he can think of. He still has the mystery of who drugged their horse to figure out.

A COWBOY TO CALL HER OWN is the story of Asher Blackwell and Kelley Munroe. Asher grew up in Gold Finch Kentucky but moved away to become a corporate big city guy in New York City. Kelley also moved to New York and opened a very expensive restaurant with her now ex husband. After her divorce, Kelley moves back home to Gold Finch. When these two see each other once again, sparks fly immediately. Hold on people, it’s going to be a very bumpy but funny ride!

Even though these two try and fight what is happening between them, Kelley and Asher are fighting a losing battle. Read the story, you will not regret it! I soon found myself cheering for both Asher and Kelley every time I turned the page.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading A COWBOY TO CALL HER OWN. It is funny and heart warming and filled with so many different emotions. There is so much going on in this story, but Cari Lynn Webb does a wonderful job of weaving all the pieces together. All of the characters will have you feeling sad and then giggling on the same page. More than once I wanted to be with these wonderful people of Gold Finch Kentucky! The ending was perfect and had me laughing out loud! Once you finish devouring this story, you are going to want to tell everyone you know about this awesome book. If you are familiar with the Blackwells, especially Big E, you must be as excited as I am to start a new Blackwell series!

Asher Blackwell had a fallen out with his father years ago after the loss of his twin brother, so he left Gold Finch, Kentucky to make a new life in New York City. He made a successful career as a big city corporate guy. He was called home by his uncle because his father passed away. His boss made him take time off. Now he’s back to help get the horse ranch back on track and figure out the books and the will. They have a mystery on their hands. Their thorough breed horse was removed from a race because it was tested and found drugs in his system. There’s no way at his father would do anything like that to win a race. What happened? Kelley Monroe is back home from New York City, where she and her husband moved to and opened a five star restaurant. Now with no career and a divorce in the past she works at a diner as a manager. Is this what her life has become? Will she stay long enough to get her confidence back and look for another restaurant to hire her or will she stay where her family lives? As the two try to put their lives back on track, they become friends. The chemistry is there. Will they cross the line? Will he go back to the big city? Will she find a place to land in a new city? She has some friends that she can put out some fillers. Will she finds something? Will they find out who drugged the horse? Asher can’t go back and spend time with his dad but he can make him proud. Will his heart realize that this is where he belongs, back home on the ranch? Will the two realize that this is where they are meant to be? Can’t turn back time but Asher can move forward and make the ranch successful for the future generations. The characters are wonderful. I didn’t want to put it down. I was rooting for these two. Can’t wait for the next book in the series. I received this book for my honest review. I give it voluntarily.

I really enjoy a good Contemporary Romance book and I also enjoy Harlequin Heartwarming books. The books are short and easy to read. Cari Lynn Webb has become one of my favorite authors in the Harlequin Heartwarming series. A Cowboy to Call Her Own by Cari Lynn Webb is Book 1 in the BlueGrass Blackwells series.
The series is starting off with a very interesting storyline. The setting is in Gold Finch, Kentucky. The main characters are Asher Blackwell and Kelley Munroe. Asher Blackwell grew up on a Family Farm, but chose to have a life in New York in the Corporate World. Kelley Munroe grew up in Gold Finch, but she also moved to New York and opened up a High Class Restaurant with her ex-husband. Kelley chose to return HOME after the Divorce and work in the Family Diner that her sisters still run. Asher is in town to help with a Situation at the Family Farm and plans to return to New York as soon as Family Business affairs at the Racing Stables are taken care of. Kelley and Asher meet when Asher visits the Diner where Kelley is helping. I REALLY LOVE how when Asher and Kelley begin spending time together as they plan some activities that Kelley will be catering, they begin to have feelings for one another. Kelley is surprisingly more "held back" about a relationship as she is newly divorced. The way Kelley and Asher begin to see that there is life beyond the "Big City" and that HOME just might be where they need to be. The story is one of Second Chances, allowing to leave the past in the past and look to the future, and so much more. I really ENJOYED this book and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys Contemporary Romance. GREAT BOOK!

This is a sweet and predictable romantic story with characters that are lovable and relatable. The predictability did not make the story any less enjoyable since there is plenty of drama. Kelley Munroe is trying to decide what to do in the future since her divorce. And Asher Blackwell has returned to his father’s stables at the behest of Big E Blackwell. Asher is an enigma, a big city boy who is a whiz at finances but who has a heart for the ranch, even though his father basically disowned him. Kelley is a woman with a big heart and a lot of compassion for others even as she tries to dig herself out of the emotional hole that her husband threw her into. Kelley is like a warm blanket or a healing balm to Asher’s wounded soul and the attraction between the two of them is a meet-cute on steroids. Without real plans for the future, neither of them is ready for love, but it seems that love is definitely ready for them. In addition to checking the finances of the ranch, Asher is invested in finding out why the ranch’s prize stallion was cut from a race from doping, who did it and what was the motive. Kelley is invested in keeping Asher’s head in the right place as he seeks the truth for the sake of his father’s legacy. The plot is moderately paced which is perfect for this developing story and the setting is a perfect little small town, with everybody concerned for each other’s challenges and willing to help out if needed.

Here we go with book one in a new Blackwell Series, this time we’re in Kentucky. I really liked how this story started with our favorite Big E and the horse racing aspect but that was short lived with what happened and you know good and well that the whole thing was a set-up. What a perfect start to Asher Blackwell coming back to Kentucky to try and put the pieces back together and try to help get everything back on track. I have to say I was a tad frustrated while reading because I felt like everyone was either after the Blackwells or treating the Munroe ladies with disdain and I didn’t like either. I just wanted to show up, join forces with Big E and help correct the narrative. I really liked this story and especially enjoyed Asher and Kelley. When Asher left, I was wondering what was going to happen and then when he got the big offer at work, I was even more concerned with what is going to happen, is he going to take it and then he decided to take the red eye and go back to Kentucky and of course we all really knew why he was going back and her name is Kelley. Loved how everything came together towards the end of the book and I love how these two ended up when this story ended. However, I am more intrigued after reading the epilogue. I actually gasped when Big E and Asher found what they did. I mean seriously. So many questions - was it planted? Who was he in cahoots with? Is this going to be an ongoing mystery and we find out the who dun it with the last book? So excited for the next book to see where the mystery and clues lead us. #GreatBook

This is the first in the new The Bluegrass Blackwells series and is a wonderful start to a new generation of Blackwells. Elias Blackwell, known as Big E, has arrived in Kentucky to help his deceased cousin's sons save the family horse racing ranch. Asher Blackwell has returned home to help restore the reputation of the family business but is only planning on a temporary stay, that is until he has an early morning dance in the local diner with a very pretty chef. Kelley Munroe has returned home to Gold Finch, KY after her divorce and losing her restaurant to her ex. She is currently working at the diner she worked in as a teen and also helping her older sister plan her wedding. She has always had a crush on Asher which only increases after their impromptu dance but she refuses to risk her heart on another city cowboy. Asher isn't looking for a relationship either but when Kelley starts working as the new caterer for the ranch, the time they are spending together is making it more difficult for both of them to keep their hearts locked up. This is a wonderful story filled with heart and family, love where you least expect it and matchmaking mischief. The characters are fun and relatable.

This was a second chance novel as well as a family drama. A story of coming back home again and finding home. Asher, who believed his late father had completely disowned him and finding out that is not the case, has come back home to deal with his family's legacy. When Asher's family racing stables are put under suspicion of drugging their racing horses, they could lose everything their family has ever worked for.
Kelley, who had grown up with Asher, has also come back home after her marriage ended in heartbreak. She has her sisters and she is looking for opportunities to stick around as a chef. When Asher offers her to be the stables caterer, she accepts and they begin to reconnect again. Can they work together and not develop feelings so that Asher can go back to New York and pick up his life there?
This is the beginning of a new series and though the Blackwell family has had its share of heartbreak, Asher is just the first one to be brought back home. I look forward to reading the other brothers' stories and their journey back to where the heart is.

Chef Kelley has also returned to Gold Finch after a devastating divorce and works at the local diner while looking for new career opportunities. Besides her sisters and the older residents of Gold Finch acting as relentless matchmakers, Kelley’s mouthwatering pastries make her even more attractive to Asher.
This novel includes low-key intrigue that gathers momentum in the final chapters, a couple who hide their attraction behind their claims of a temporary visit, romance with light-hearted moments while also delving into past hurts, and a community that unites to celebrate special events.
The story unfolded slowly at the beginning with frequent repetition of character names, which could have been reduced for increased easy reading flow. However, once the storyline gained impetus, it was an easy and enjoyable book to read. Although all ends well for Kelley and Asher, there is a hook for readers to reach for the next book to discover the outcome of Sovereign Pride’s fate. I knew I was in for a treat when I realized that this book is set in the heart of horse country in Kentucky. The descriptions of the glorious scenery surrounding the horse stables is enough to transport you into the book and make you never want to return to the real world.
Asher Blackwell is determined to save his family's farm. He has no time for fun and games, and certainly no time for love, but it seems fate and a little boost from someone has other plans. Enter chef Kelley Munroe.
Even though neither were looking for love, especially in Kentucky, it was quickly apparent they may have seemed completely opposite, but they have more things in common than they realize.
This sweet romance was charming with engaging characters that you will root for. It was a great blend of love and a little nostalgia mixed in with a little humor as well. It was one of those books that you tugged on my heart and made my heart feel a little warmer after reading it.
This is the first book in the Bluegrass Blackwell series. After reading this one, I knew I would have to search the others out as well because this entire family has stolen my heart.

This sweet romance was charming with engaging characters that you will root for. It was a great blend of love and a little nostalgia mixed in with a little humor as well. It was one of those books that you tugged on my heart and made my heart feel a little warmer after reading it.
This is the first book in the Bluegrass Blackwell series. After reading this one, I knew I would have to search the others out as well because this entire family has stolen my heart.

This is the perfect book to read on a summer day. It is full of characters trying to find their place after heartache and trying to find what truly makes them happy. I liked how Asher returned to his family's horse farm to help while he took a break from his New York City job. I enjoyed the stories his twin made up about him.
I liked Kelley who had also returned to Goldfinch, Kentucky, divorced and working at the local diner, while her ex-husband kept their restaurant. Both characters were at a crossroads and did not need love and of course neither one was staying in Kentucky. I enjoyed the sparks between them and the slow burn romance they both kept fighting and pretending did not exist.
Add in family, a wedding where Kelley needed a plus 1, drama, hopes and dreams and I could not stop reading. It was a sweet romance with wonderful romantic characters who just might find home. I am so glad Asher has a lot of brothers so there will be more books because I am not ready to say goodbye to the characters! I received an advance copy of this book, and I willingly chose to write an honest review.

I'm glad there is a new series of Blackwells, and we get to have more of Big E! He is the best at bringing together the family that is torn apart.

“Big E” Elias Blackwell returns again and this time is in in Kentucky! I have read other books by this author and they are always fun and enjoyable to read!
Kelley is a local who has had her heart stomped on in New York by her ex, so she’s back for her sister’s wedding and to figure out next steps. She loves to cater/cook and finds a job at the Blackwell horse racing ranch.
Asher returns home to his ranch after a scandal with one of the horses so he can help turn the ranch around and finds himself longing for the ranch life and a cowgirl.
I loved all the characters and flow of the story. Kelley’s sisters were a fun addition and the extra element of possible sabotage at the ranch was a good addition to the story!

Asher Blackwell was a cowboy but a city man too. Comes home to visit and see the girl he had a crush on. He got pulled into the diner to teach Kelley how to dance. Kelley wasn't looking for a dance partner but need to dance at her sister wedding. Kelley was the maid of honor she planned the whole wedding by herself. Asher was hanging out at the diner more and more.
Pauline wanted to sell the diner but things went for a change after sister's wedding.
Kelley was hangout with Asher more and more. She didn't fly the coup of her home town. Pauline got engaged and wanted Kelley to have the diner.
After the 4th of July parade thing changed.
Will Asher end up with the cowgirl he had fallen in love with?
Does everything at the ranch go as planned ?
What had Asher find out about what happened to the horse?
I recommend this book to other book readers.

I enjoyed this story, and watching Kelley get swept off her boots. Sometimes I laughed, other times were simply “awwww” moments.
Asher has to prove to himself that he can measure up, no matter what his father said. But who doped the ranch’s horse? The one that was expected to make a name for them? And then Kelley shows up as a chef and is cooking for the ranch hands. But small town Gold Finch is not where she plans to stay. She’s simply regrouping.
A dance in prep for a sister’s wedding opens the door to so much more. Eventually. Can Asher and Kelley find healing as they learn to work together as friends? Because neither wants a relationship.
If I had one “negative” it was the overuse of the terms “her cowboy” and “his cowgirl” but that’s minor. I highly recommend the book!

Very sweet, clean story about two people who have a tough road ahead of them. Mind you, it’s of their own making but it is still sometimes hard to navigate. Big E is back! I just adore the old coot. He’s not only fun but he hits the nail on the “feelings” head and gives the characters something to think about.

I am always excited when I read a new Blackwell book! This is the beginning of a new series and I have been so happy to be able to read it! The "stars" of the story were Asher Blackwell and Kelley Munroe. Both had moved away to New York and they meet again in Kentucky where they were from. And yes there is a connection! Kelley recently divorced and was such a good help for Asher' who is helping with the racing stables. But neither of them really wants a new relationship. It is a very enjoyable story of two people that seem to help each other but will Asher return to New York? It was a sweet story and I always love Harlequin's Heartwarming genre.

This was a cute intro to the Bluegrass Blackwells! I loved the cowboy/ city cowboy/ back to cowboy in this story. Both Asher and Kelly have hangups that keep them from really opening their hearts. Kelly moved back home after loosing her restaurant and going through a divorce ... Asher is still morning the loss of his twin brother... now he has to deal with losing his father too, and never feeling like he's gotten the love he needed from his dad. Now he's trying to save the ranch when it's accused to doping their houses in the derby. Kelly and Asher g get rumors going around town when she's spotted dancing with a cowboy and no one recognized Asher. They make a deal just friends no strings. But then they start falling... can he walk away and go back to his big city life in New York?

A Cowboy to Call Her Own is a clean, wholesome romance staring off The Bluegrass Blackwells Series. This Kentucky horse racing ranch story after their father’s passing is all about family and legacy by Cari Lynn Webb. Asher Blackwell. Doesn’t plan too relocate back on the ranch from New York. This time is short-lived as he gets the ranch back on track. However, his new friendship with chef Kelley Munroe could easily become more. As these characters’ friendship grow Asher begins to have priorities change in his life. I like to see growth in the main character which this story has. An enjoyable romance from beginning to end.
