Lauren Hawkeye/ Lauren Jameson never imagined that she'd wind up telling stories for a living... though when she looks back, it's easy to see that she's the only one who is surprised. Always "the kid who read all the time", Lauren made up stories about her favorite characters once she'd finished a book... and once spent an entire year narrating her own life internally. No, really. But where she was just plain odd before publication, now she can at least claim to have an artistic temperament.
Lauren lives in the Rocky Mountains of Alberta, Canada with her husband, toddler, pit bull and idiot cat, though they do not live in an igloo, nor do they drive a dogsled. In her nonexistent spare time Lauren can be found knitting (her husband claims that her snobby yarn collection is exorbitant), reading anything she can get her hands on, or sweating her way through spin class. She loves to hear from her readers!
There were no blurbs accompanying each story, so I didn't know what I was going to get until the first few pages of each one. Overall though, this was a terrific set, and I'm thrilled that a few were bundled. I discovered quite a few new to me authors, and now I'll definitely be checking out more Eden books.
Master of the Island by Lauren Hawkeye Invitation to Eden #0.5 Tags: Contemporary, Erotica, M/F, Billionaire, CEO, Beauty and the Beast Theme, BDSM, Kink Length: Prologue + 4 Chapters Rating: 3 out of 5
This short story introduces us to the man we will come to know mainly as The Master throughout the collection of books, and we learn how the magical island known as Eden came to be. Growing up, I loved the 80s tv show Fantasy Island. This collection is reminiscent of that, only kinkier.
As a prequel that was available for free, I thought this was a decent introduction. Short but adequate (then again, this was included in the box set The Bad Boys of Eden, so I was able to just keep reading books with the same theme). I wasn't disappointed that his story was cut short here or not immediately available in the box set.
I'm looking forward to eventually seeing him meet the mystery woman from his dream, and perhaps finding out more about the pilot, Joely who "looks like she's sixteen". There were several references to a darkness or sadness in her past, and she seemed very intuitive around Theo. His story continues in Master of Pleasure.
Wild Ride by Opal Carew Invitation to Eden #17 Part of a Series: Ready to Ride #2 Tags: Contemporary, Erotica, Kinky, MC, M/F, M/F/M, F/F Length: 14 Chapters Rating: 3.5 out of 5
While the story was very erotic and had an undercurrent of romance, I did feel a twinge when Killer boned Raven right in front of Marissa. I don't usually mind the sharing thing as long as everyone involved is okay with that. But it felt like neither Rip nor Killer bothered to check with Marissa first how she'd feel about it, was it a fantasy of hers? Would it upset her? I felt like the decision was made for her and she just went along with it so she wouldn't lose Killer or to show that she could be just as bad as the rest of them. I don't know, I just felt eh. Also, if you're a stickler for realism especially where safe sex is concerned in fiction, then you may not like the fact that no condoms were used.
Even though she didn't seem like the type of woman to have sex with a stranger a few minutes after meeting him, the island probably had a lot to do with the loss of inhibitions. I'll say that Eden made her give in to her deepest desires, but it also cancelled out some common sense. The ending was a surprise with the proposal since there were no ILYs, just the usual alpha male declaration of "mine".
I enjoyed her writing and the eroticism of the story. I would read more by this author, just not the Ready to Ride series.
Breaking Free by Cathryn Fox Invitation to Eden #7 Read: N/A Tags: Contemporary, Erotic Romance, NA Length: 9 Chapters Rating: N/A
Not sure if I'll go back to read this since it's NA. We'll see.
Rough Draft by Mari Carr Invitation to Eden #13 Part of a Series: Big Easy #4 Tags: Contemporary, Erotic Romance, Friends to Lovers, M/F, BDSM, Suspense Length: 9 Chapters + Epilogue Rating: 4.5 out of 5
I loved this story and this couple. Carissa was confident in all aspects of her life, except when the lines of her long time friendship with Jett began to blur. The tug of war between her heart and her head (or her libido) made the blooming romance so much fun to watch as it unfolded. Nothing scared her more than potentially losing her best friend because of uncontrollable urges. Their first night in particular was amusing, especially when she discovered that Jett's secret lifestyle matched her fantasies.
Jett was sexy, honorable and so sweet towards her. I loved how he didn't give up and kept nudging her along to embrace her desires. It wasn't always easy, but he seemed to have a lot of patience and love enough to wait for her to be ready.
The sexual relationship was a slow burn because they did everything but have intercourse for the majority of the story. And the murder mystery, I felt, was a good catalyst to get Jett's creative juices flowing again, and it jolted Carissa into taking a chance on love.
Escape From Reality by Adriana Hunter Invitation to Eden #3 Tags: Contemporary, Erotic Romance, Supernatural, M/F Length: Prologue + 10 Chapters Rating: 3 out of 5
**Warning, may be a bit spoilerish**
Romance author Leila just returned from a RWA conference totally defeated. Her latest manuscript wasn't as successful as she'd thought. But a surprise invitation to Eden from Cheryl Bullard, a revered author, and the offer of some mentoring may just be what she needs.
I don't have anything to say about the hero because he just seemed flat to me. Perhaps because he was conjured up, and not really real. Are you confused yet? Overall, it was a steamy story, albeit a little corny for my taste. But the idea was quite entertaining, and I enjoyed the surprise ending. Now, if only I could get my hands on one of those doors.
Second Glances by Elena Aitken Invitation to Eden #12 Part of a Series: The Springs #3.5 Tags: Contemporary, Erotic Romance, M/F, Friends to Lovers, Hero: 24 Length: 10 Chapters Rating: 4 out of 5
While the identity of the sender was written on the wall from the beginning, it was Malcolm's side of the story and his character overall that sold it for me. That twist was utterly unpredictable, a little heart-breaking on both sides, but I'm glad Kylie wised up about everything and felt he deserved the chance to make things right for both of them. The romance was sweet with Malcolm being a little shy but ready to go after what he wanted. Even with his fear of losing her forever over the past, I thought he was rather gentlemanly to give her time to process the bombshell revelation.
The sex between them was also pretty hot. My favorite moment of the story had to do with their dive, the shipwreck's history and the ring Malcolm found with the engraving. Talk about fate *swoon*
Blurring the Lines by Roni Loren Invitation to Eden #14 Tags: Contemporary, PNR elements, Erotic Romance, M/F, Friends to Lovers, Ghosts, Widow Length: 15 Chapters + Epilogue Rating: 5 out of 5
Two people bound by a tragic loss. When Burke invites Gretchen to accompany him on a mini-vacation, the trip reveals more than just hidden feelings. The journey brings up a ghost from the past, literally. At the end, who will she choose?
Interestingly, the story was told from alternating POVs. Gretchen's was in the first person and Burke's in the third person. I don't recall ever noticing other stories being told this way, but the story still had a good flow and the switch-ups weren't confusing or tedious. this was my first time reading anything by this author, and after this, I'd definitely read more of her books.
Ivy in Bloom by Vivi Anna writing as Tawny Stokes Invitation to Eden #10 Part of a Series: Hothouse #2 Tags: Contemporary, Erotic Romance, NA Length: 10 Chapters Rating: DNF
I didn't get any further than Chapter 2 before deciding to DNF this. Ivy was spoilt, childish and unrefined. Her boyfriend dumped her because she was "controlling". It wasn't a good sign when her friends agreed with that statement. That was followed by two mistakes, the first one in the first chapter - mixing up the names: "...but they had no clue how much I suffered emotionally for it. Dahlia and Ivy didn't really know either." - It should have been Dahlia and Violet.
The second one had a missing word: "Where are going?"
I lost interest as soon as Ivy's mother opened her mouth and said "Jeez".
Ivy's "voice" was too tedious to bother with.
Delicious and Deadly by C.C. MacKenzie Invitation to Eden # N/A Part of a Series: Ludlow Hall #8 Tags: Contemporary, Reunited Lovers, Second chance at love, Interracial, Abuse Length: 14 Chapters Rating: 3 out of 5
He walked away; she married someone else. Two years later, Oscar is an award winning chef, and Emma is divorced. Will Eden give them a second chance at love?
The author and Ludlow Hall series were new to me prior to Delicious and Deadly, but I had no problem following the story or all the characters involved. With that said, the story was okay. I read up until a certain point and stopped; not because I didn't like it, I just didn't feel compelled to read on to find out what else was in store for them. The sex was sufficiently sweaty and hot, but if you have an issue with characters ignoring the use of protection or even mentioning it, then you might not enjoy this. The story was okay, but it didn't whet my appetite for the other Ludlow Hall books.
Yours Truly, Taddy by Avery Aster Invitation to Eden # N/A Part of a Series: The Undergrad Years #2 Tags: Contemporary, Erotic Romance, NA, Heroine: 18, Virgin Heroine Length: 7 Chapters Rating: N/A
Skipped it because it was New Adult.
How to Tempt a Tycoon by Daire St. Denis Invitation to Eden # N/A Part of a Series: (A Savage Interactive) Savage Tales #5 Tags: Contemporary, Erotica, Divorced Heroine, Dirty-talking hero, Time Travel Length: 17 Chapters Rating: 4 out of 5
Some of the reviews on Amazon confused me when reviewers mentioned not being a fan of the multiple endings or just the interactive part in general. The book I read wasn't interactive. A bit of digging around on the author's website explained it: The first edition is the interactive one - . The second edition in the Invitation To Eden collection is NON-interactive. So there are two different versions, who knew?
Okay, moving on ...
I'm not sure how I felt about the whole past self, future self time travel bit as it seemed somewhat out of place. I think the story would have still worked without it. The ending is a sort of HFN, maybe a little bit of a cliffhanger? I can't explain it. I really liked this hero and wish she would have ended up with him. At the time, I didn't know this was a series based on Tessa and her various adventures with a different man or men each time. If that's not something you're interested in, you may want to skip this. Otherwise, I'd say read this book and the rest of the series. Ms. St. Denis has a lovely writing "voice", and this story in particular wrapped around me like a heated blanket through Christophe's articulate and arousing dirty-talk and Tessa's responses.
Errors: The inconsistency mentioned in my full review, and a couple of missing words or misspelled words.
Hold Me Close by Eliza Gayle Invitation to Eden # N/A Part of a Series: Purgatory Club #6 Tags: Contemporary, Erotic Romance, M/F, BBW, Heroine: 24, BDSM, Anal Length: 15 Chapters Rating: 4 out of 5
I really liked this couple, and Bonnie was stronger than she gave herself credit for. That she burdened herself with so much emotional baggage told me that she was a good person, kind, loving, loyal to a fault, and just plain sweet. Dex may have been the club's favorite for many reasons, but I got a kick out of seeing his feathers ruffled because of her, her actions, and Gabe's sneaky interference. I also liked the "meat" of the story, and that it wasn't just all about sex. Dex had his own demons, a result from an alcoholic and abusive father. Obviously his past interfered with his present and any progress he'd made with Bonnie. In the end, I liked that she stepped up to be there for him.
Return to Sender/Sweet Return by Steena Holmes Invitation to Eden #15 Part of a Series: Love So Sweet #3 Tags: Contemporary, Sweet Romance, M/F, Reunited Lovers, Heroine: 25-29 Length: 9 Chapters Rating: 2/5, DNF
Fight For Me by Sharon Page Invitation to Eden #5 Part of a Series: Yardley College Alumni #1 Tags: Contemporary, Erotic Romance, MMA, Married couple, Suspense, BDSM (light), M/F, M/F/M, Bondage, Anal Length: 9 Chapters Rating: 2.5 out of 5
Tessa (26) got married to MMA fighter Ryder (28/29) at twenty, a year later they had Jakey, and four years later she got a separation. While she wasn't ready for a real relationship again, she began dating Xavier, an ex-MMA fighter turned business billionaire and Ryder's best friend. The last thing she wanted was to find out that they were going to fight for her, literally.
Fight For Me was told from Tessa's POV in the first person, and through most of it she sounded monotonous and depressing. She didn't want a new relationship, she was still in love with Ryder, but she began dating his best friend. Xavier declared his love for her and she had no answer. Xavier knew what dark secret Ryder had been keeping from Tessa, and yet he didn't back off and let his two friends try to work things out. The love triangle aspect was sexy albeit predictable. Everyone just seemed rather wishy-washy with their feelings. The suspense portion of the story felt a little forced in terms of being the means by which Ryder would get to exorcise his demons once and for all. Overall the book wasn't bad, but it wasn't memorable either.
When I found out the Eden stories were coming out as a box set I jumped on it! This bundle contains 14 stories of the 27 Invitation To Eden series, a multi author project. Each story which takes place on Eden, a fantasy island located somewhere in the Bermuda triangle, is unique to the author’s characters. And the awesome thing is that the island knows what each person needs.
And let me tell you, there’s some hot smoking scenes. I’ve read great reviews on the individual books in the Eden series, but never got around to buying them. But I am so pleased to find in this boxed set that some of my favorite authors have written stories to continue on familiar series. Favorites include Hold Me by Eliza Gayle in the Purgatory Club books, Fight For Me by Sharon Page in the Yardley College Chronicles, Wild Ride by Opal Carew in the Motor cycle club books, Delicious And Deadly by CC Mackenzie in Ludlow Hall series.
As a lover of romance this super anthology is definitely a box of chocolates to my romance reader’s heart. With hours of pleasurable entertainment, you just can’t go wrong for the price.
I was given a copy in exchange for an honest review.
Some of the stories are really good and some of them not so good. My main complaint is the proofreading and grammar. In one book the hero's name is spelled differently a couple times. It was more good than bad. Only three stars because it was average.
Yours Truly, Taddy by Avery Aster - Another hilarious installment in the Undergrad series. I'm really loving getting the backstories on these characters. These are just so much fun to read! They are extremely over the top. Anything and everything can and does seem to happen to these characters. Explosions, airplane crashes been there done that! I can't wait to find out what happens next! Also extremely hot sex at an unexpected time and place!
Wild Ride by Opal Carew - This one was definitely very hot! I really liked it for the most part. Marissa annoyed me at first with how easy it was for her to jump on the back of a strangers bike running from another biker. She was so scared of Rip because he was part of a "biker gang" then without anything thought just goes with another biker. But then I did like her. She has some spunk to her. I was also kind of hot and cold with Killer. He's super sexy but at times I didn't like how he acted with Marissa. They were extremely sexy together but he tended to come off as a jerk sometimes. There was a little f/f action that I could have done without but overall I liked the story.
*I received this free in exchange for an honest review* Master of the Island by Lauren Hawkeye - I feel this story was left unresolved. There wasn't much to it. Yes, it was interesting to see the story about how the island came to be, but where's the rest of his story?
Wild Ride by Opal Carew - Holy hotness! This is a crazy sexy book! I had to fan myself the whole time. Though, I wasn't big on how Killer treated her. I still loved the book. These Eden stories are almost too much for me! I'm addicted and they are all fantastic. I love seeing series that I love, authors I love, with 1 theme. An island where they know what you want even if you don't! These are all must read, but damn! This one was good.
This is one of those bundles that has something for everyone. I really enjoyed the variety, there were some sweet romances and also dark erotica romances. Each of these books was well written and fast paced - I finished the entire bundle in a weekend because I didn't want to stop reading. I also really loved that each of the stories tied back into the Island theme - I've read many box sets that don't have a common theme and have to say I enjoy the themed ones more. I'm not a huge fan of menage's but I will say that Opal Carew did a fantastic job with her writing.
This is a great box set - and what a steal for just .99. Highly recommend you check it out!
First story- did not finish second story- did not read Rough Draft- 4 stars I like this series forth story- 3 stars fifth story- 2 stars sixth story- 4 stars good read seventh story- 1 stars eight story- 1 stars The rest of the stories were 1 star except Eliza Gayle's story. That I gave 5 stars because the characters said all the right things that I wanted to read them say.
What a wonderful collection of stories!! There is something for everyone. I personally didn't like the style of a couple of writers but all the stories were all written. I would love to visit Eden again and learn more about The Master and some of the characters working on the island as well as some new people who come to visit
Plenty of adventure, mystery, romance, love on the Island of Eden. These stories take you to another world where fantasies of all kinds come true. Dreams come true, love is found and relationships restored so d rebuilt Just good reading!
If you haven't read any of the Invitation to Eden series, you should. They are all wonderful stories, I haven't read any one I didn't enjoy. All the authors are absolutely fabulous writers!!! A must read.
Delicious sexy read that will leave you hot n bothered with a definite need to cool down! Or maybe I just need one of Eden's fabulous "miracle cure" cocktails! Nah who am I kidding-gimme one of those bad boys! Where's my invitation?
This book is a collection of stories on the island of Eden written b different authors. Each story has it separate invitation to Eden for a different person and they all fit well together. I enjoyed this book and hope you will too
This was a fun way to see how several authors use the same bits and pieces of setting, story ideas and characters to combine stories into a collection. Each story held its own and took me on a journey to a very interesting island that always gives you what you need.
A great collection of Billionaires, Alphas, Bikers, and Doms stories. If you're looking for a hot book that will make your toes curl... The Bad Boys of Eden is the book for you. A real page turner that will have you panting for more.
There should be a listing of these books as three of texas titles within this series I purchased separately. Hence I skipped over those. A few typos in some of the stories. A good read for those who want to enjoy some adult fiction.
I bought this box set awhile ago. These books are great and each one is unique. I love how you ladies described the island. I only wish my Invitation to Eden would arrive soon.
I really liked most of the stories, though there were a couple that I skipped or eye rolled my way through. I was a little disappointed that hey didn't finish The Master's story.
Most of the stories were 4 to 5 stars. Some I will follow up by reading books of the original series and I will definitively continue to get my hand on more Eden books.
