I walked away from my billionaire bloodline, hellbent on carving a life that belonged to me. By day, I’m a painfully shy journalist desperate for respect. By night, I write filthy stories under a false name. I let my imagination run wild, and my fantasies bleed through. No one was supposed to connect the dots. Especially not my brother’s best friend. I’ve secretly loved this man for years, but when a prison riot leaves us locked in a cell together, I learn the truth about survival, surrender, and the man behind the empire. He’s dangerous, possessive, and the muse of my stories.
THIS IS A DARK ROMANCE WITH HEAVY TRIGGERS. READER'S DISCRETION IS HIGHLY ADVISED.
Emily Klepp is a Western North Carolina native residing in eastern Tennessee with her loving husband and two beautiful children. She has been writing since she was fourteen years old as a way to cope with her anxiety. She hopes to help others be able to speak their truth by writing about topics that are considered too taboo for societal norms.
Willow runs away from her family and kept her distance to pursue her own life and became a writer as a journalist.
One of her tasks for her job lands her going to a prison (extra spicy) were she is faced with meeting Diablo. Her old love from her past. She is later reunited with her brother Mason and her parents!
The massive amount of trama that there parents put willow through is horrendous. It would tramatize anyone.
Diablo and Baxter help Willow over come her trama by lots of spiciness. Soo hot! 🌶🌶🌶🌶
Mason,Diablo and Baxter and lets not forget about the best friend Maggie helps save Willow from what here parents have enforced on her. Throughout her life.
Last portion of the story is about Maggie, Mason & Dean. Which must say wow !! I love the characters and how they pursue themselves. What megs feels and what she went through and the trauma she face while taking care of everyone else.
Lots of crazy things happen in this book. Its diffenly a daw dropper, but very dark at times. This has been a great bing worthy books. Highly reccomend.
Unwritten is a dark why choose billionaire romance. It features some very triggering topics so as always read responsibly. This story is very similar to others from Klepp because it combines trauma, recovery and kink.
Willow is a journalist who has left her billionaire family to go out and live her own life. During the day she's a journalist but she also secretly writes erotica. She goes to Prison and interviews Diablo, who happens to be her brother's best friend and her childhood crush.
Unwritten is a story about healing from trauma...some very seriously dark trauma! There is also a bit of a reverse harem vibe and some delicious forced proximity.
I received a copy in exchange for my honest review.
This book captivated my interest from the first page and kept me engaged through its entirety. Please read the trigger warnings before diving in. Our FMC Willow, is shy and introverted. She has a typical day job but discreetly writes erotica romance. This book had many twists I didn’t anticipate and often had me wondering what was going to happen next. There is trauma but from that comes healing. ❤️🩹
Part 1 Between the pages is Willow's story As with all of Emily Klepp books she writes with a certain style and flair that puts you at ease reading the story. Willow, shy, introverted due to trauma throughout her younger years. She found it difficult to enter a discussion, and would rather interview through zoom or preferably chat and email. So she runs from her rich affluent family when they try to organise an arranged marriage..... Oh hell no...she took off as fast as her feet would take her. And for a year she survived, barely, working as a reporter. Willow, having been abused most of her life finds out in a twisted way that her boss Colt was actually being paid to render her useless, through sexual assault! When he sends her to interview Diablo, who had been arrested for murder, little did he realise that she knew him. He was one of her brother Mason's best friends. She would have no problems talking to him! There is a riot, and lockdown ensues. She is trapped in the same cell as Diablo. A man she has lusted over for years, and loved! When they finally give into their desires, they let all their deepest darkest wants and needs out....Diablo loves that she likes what he delivers! An overall great story of healing and rebuilding relationships as both Baxter....her therapist.....hmmph.....another of her brother, Mason's best friends and Diablo assist her with finding herself and loving what she sees. There is of course a great twist to this story that I definitely did not see coming and it rounds out this amazing story so well! Loved it! Part 2 is Maggie's story! Best friend, Maggie has been by Willow's side as her ride or die! She knows all about Willow's trauma and has helped her move on. Writing books has helped Willow and being her assistant has helped Maggie! Maggie has had to deal with her own trauma and now feeling more alone without Willow by her side, she leans more into her own writing. But when she is nearly assaulted outside the cafe when she does most of her writing into the late hours of the day, the only person she can think to call is Mason. She knows he goes to the club every Friday night, and is, of course so jealous of any woman that has attracted his attention for the night....but she needs him. Fearing for her life, she hides and waits for Mason to find her. As they have both been lusting after the other for some time, Mason decides that he is going to take matters into his own hands. Making sure he is what she wants he gets her to say her safe word!! Oh Yeh!! Now that they both are on the same page, Mason takes her to Dean to help with keeping Maggie safe. Oh and there is a lovely twist to this little addition in the story. I loved it! Maggie finally finds she does have someone to love and who loves her back. Who also loves her dark depraved sexual appetite....because theirs is the same! Oh Yes!!
Unwritten by Emily Klepp is an intense and emotionally charged read that pulls you in from the very first page and does not let go. Told in two interconnected stories, this book blends dark themes, complicated relationships, and deeply personal healing journeys in a way that feels both gripping and addictive.
The first story follows Willow, a quiet but resilient woman living a double life, and the tension between who she is and who she allows herself to be is written with raw honesty. Her connection with Diablo and Baxter and the layers of their shared history create a powerful dynamic that is equal parts emotional and consuming. The relationships in this section feel complex and fiercely loyal, with a strong focus on protection, trust, and reclaiming power after trauma.
The second story shifts to Maggie, whose voice is sharp, unfiltered, and deeply shaped by her past. Her journey explores darker desires and the need to feel chosen and safe, and the relationships she builds with Mason and Dean are intense but meaningful. The chemistry, emotional stakes, and character growth in this portion make it just as compelling as the first.
What really stands out is how the author balances heavy subject matter with themes of love, survival, and found family. The characters are not perfect, and their reactions are not always easy, but that adds to the authenticity of their stories. The emotional depth paired with the passion makes this a book that is very easy to devour in one sitting.
The only reason this is not a full five stars is that there are moments of emotional retreat that felt a little frustrating, but only because you were rooting for the characters to express themselves to receive the help and love they deserved. Even so, those responses are understandable given the weight of what the characters endured.
Overall, this is a bold and gripping read that delivers both heat and heart, with characters who stay with you long after you finish.
I loved this book! Yes, it was very dark and disturbing at times, but I still completely devoured it.
What made it even better is that it’s split into two interconnected stories, and both were so engaging.
The first story follows Willow, who has been through so much trauma. It was beautiful seeing her reunited with her long-time love…who also happens to be her brother’s best friend. Their reunion takes place in a prison where he’s currently locked up, and when they end up trapped there together… things definitely heat up 🥵
Diablo loves Willow deeply and would do anything to protect her…even from herself. Then Baxter enters the picture, turning things into a powerful trio. Both men would burn the world down for her, and together they set out to take down Willow’s ex-boss, the man who abused her and still has a hold over her life. As their plan unfolds, dark truths come to light, things get deadly, but we do get our HEA.
I also loved Willow’s reconnection with her brother Mason, their relationship brought such a great mix of love and humour.
The second story shifts focus to Willow’s best friend, Maggie. We see just how lonely and broken she is. After witnessing something horrific and barely escaping with her life, she’s thrown into danger and Mason steps in. It’s clear from the start that he loves her, and these two are so perfect together… and very hot 🔥
Then Dean enters the mix, and things get even more interesting. Mason and Dean already have a dynamic of their own, and the MM moments between them were so good. This trio works together to eliminate the threat against Maggie, and their story takes some wild turns.
I loved all the characters and the different dynamics between them. I honestly want more from this world.
⚠️ Just a reminder that this book contains heavy, triggering themes, so please check warnings before diving in.
What to expect: 💰 Billionaire Romance 🏠 Forced Proximity 🖤 Brother’s Best Friend 🔥 Why Choose ✍️ Author FMCs 💎 Pierced MCs 👀 Exhibitionism 🖤 Hypersexuality
Unwritten in two parts as two best friends find their forever even after all the trauma they have endured. Together you have the best found family.
Sweet Willow has more trauma than she even knows in the beginning. She ran away from her family when they tried to arrange her marriage. Unfortunately she now works as a journalist to a man who uses her as he pleases. What he doesn't know us she is secretly a well known author writing brother's next friend romances. She writes for herself and the crush she has held into.
I live how she ends up face to face with that crush and learns more than she ever expected about this man. Turns out he wants her and she won't be escaping his grasp.
Of course secrets came to light I didn't expect but her men will make sure she thrives. Once they get their needed justice.
I adored the relationship between her and her big brother, Mason. It was the sweetest and he would do anything for her. Also her bestie Maggie is the vest wing woman with her own issues.
With Willow safe and happy we turn to Maggie. She is so lonely even in a crowded room (I felt this so much. There is a level of lonely that just can't be touched with friends and family).
When she witnesses something she was almost a part of she runs and turns to Mason. She's been pining for him and discovers quickly that he is exactly what she needed in her life.
Mason isn't what she expected but was exactly half of what she needed. The people who are now looking for her have a connection to Dean and there's only one way to keep her truly safe.
Mason and Dean have history and that moment was hot hot hot. These two men are huge and brutal which is exactly what Maggie has been looking for.
These stories show that blood does not make a family. It only creates the bodies and everything else comes down to choices. These six people are family and have each other's backs no matter what.
Two interconnected stories, heavy emotion, deep trauma, and the kind of darkness Emily writes best.
This book is split into two parts, each following a different woman and the trauma that shaped them.
Part One is Willow’s story. She cut ties with her family to escape an arranged marriage and built a life as a journalist — but the man she works for is manipulative and cruel, leaving her traumatized and unsure of her own boundaries. One assignment sends her to a prison, where she comes face‑to‑face with Diablo, the man she once loved and never truly forgot. She also reunites with her brother Mason as he is diablos best friend. Manson who’s the protective big brother everyone wishes they had.
Part Two follows Maggie, who has spent her life taking care of everyone else while carrying her own heavy trauma. Her story digs into the emotional cost of survival and the weight of always being the strong one.
Being best friend with Willow she knows all of her pain and trauma, she has helped her move on. Writing books has helped Willow and being her assistant has helped Maggie also to deal with her trauma.
Without Maggie’s by her side all the time she runs into trouble late at night after writing there and the only person she knows to call is Mason. He cokes to save her and things change for them from there.
Emily Klepp knows how to write trauma in a way that pulls you straight into the characters’ pain, healing, and messy humanity. This book is dark, emotional, and full of heavy triggers but it also carries threads of recovery, connection, and the complicated bonds that form in the aftermath.
A powerful, intense read that delivers everything you expect from Emily: trauma, healing, and a dark edge woven through every chapter.
Unwritten delivers two why‑choose stories wrapped in extremely heavy themes, but what surprised me most was how much warmth, humor, and genuine connection the book still manages to hold.
Willow’s story hits hard right from the beginning, and one twist genuinely made me stop and stare at the page. Her support system is beautifully written — her older brother, her best friend, and her brother’s two closest friends form a tight, protective circle around her. Her relationship with Diablo and Baxter is fully romantic, intense, and emotionally layered. And the sibling bond between Willow and Mason? Absolutely one of the highlights. It’s warm, loyal, and full of the kind of closeness that feels real.
Maggie’s story is just as emotionally heavy. She’s spent years feeling unseen and alone, and when everything finally unravels, she steps into a fully romantic, equal why‑choose relationship with both Mason and Dean. The dynamic between the two men has its own complicated history — nothing spoilery, but enough to give their interactions a sharp, teasing edge. Dean’s mischievous, trouble‑making energy toward Mason had me laughing out loud more than once. Their banter brings exactly the levity this book needs.
As always with Emily Klepp, the story dives into extremely dark territory. There are themes involving severe harm to a young character and a traumatic group attack. Readers should absolutely check content warnings before starting — this is an emotionally intense read.
Despite the darkness, the relationships (romantic and platonic) bring so much heart. It’s a heavy book, but also unexpectedly hopeful.
Unwritten is a good dark romance. Make sure you read the trigger warnings, but the story is intense, emotional, and impossible to put down!!

Willow has survived more than anyone knows. After running from her wealthy family and their arranged marriage plans, she ends up working for a boss who secretly wants to destroy her. When she’s sent to interview Diablo. He's her brother’s best friend and the man she’s loved for years. Everything changes....
A prison riot traps them together, old feelings explode, and Diablo makes it clear he’s always wanted her. With Baxter joining their dynamic, Willow finally finds safety, love, and the strength to fight back. The twists in her story are wild and so satisfying.
Between The Covers is about Maggie. She has always been Willow’s ride or die, but now she’s drowning in her own loneliness. After barely escaping an attack, she calls Mason. He's the man she’s secretly wanted forever. Their chemistry is instant and intense, and when Dean enters the picture, things get even hotter.
Together, Mason and Dean protect her, claim her, and help her face the danger chasing her. Maggie’s story is dark, emotional, and full of heart. 🥰🥰🥰
Both stories are gripping on their own, but together they create a world of loyalty, justice, healing, and chosen family that stays with you long after the last page.
I devoured this book. And honestly? I want more from this world!
This one was a bit different. Willow is a journalist / indie author. She's a introvert and because she doesn't like talking to people her boss Colt makes her use her mouth in other ways.
She ends up at the prison for an interview and it ends up changing her life. The prisoner is her brothers best friend and the person that her brother and parents wanted to set up an arranged marriage with Donovan (Diablo). Diablo takes care of her during a prison riot and learns all about what Colt does to her. Willow also ends up getting help from Mason's other friend Baxter. Who Diablo is happy to share her with.
There are some twists and turns and the bad guys aren't who I thought that they were going to be for most of the book. Willow does get her happy every after with Diablo and Baxter.
There is a second book - Between the covers. This is Maggie she is Willow's best friend and fellow writer. It's set a months after Willow's story and Maggie feels like a spare part in someone else's story. After a trip to her favourite restaurant she stumbles across a girl needing help before she can help her she is in danger too. After she manages to get away her first thought it to call Willow's brother Mason for help. Mason helps her claims her but can't do it alone. He needs the help of Dean the Mafia boss that we met briefly in Willow's book. The only thing is their is a history between the 2 of them. We learn a lot about Maggie in 4 little chapters and go her for surviving it. It's a great wee story and Maggie gets her happy every after with Mason and Dean.
Unwritten, by Emily Klepp, is a dark why-choose romance with plenty of triggers. This book explores the journey of a woman escaping a legacy of abuse to find unconventional love.
At the heart of the story is Willow, a woman raised within the confines of a billionaire family defined by corruption and control. Willow is desperate to carve out her own identity away from her family. She pursues a career as a journalist while secretly authoring dark romance novels under a pen name. Unfortunately, her professional life is marred by a toxic, abusive boss - her editor, Colt, who exploits her sexually.
This horrible cycle of victimization is finally shattered when she is tasked to interview the incarcerated billionaire Donovan Riviera. Their meeting is pleasant until a violent prison riot breaks out, forcing them into a locked cell together. This incident acts as a catalyst, empowering Willow to finally sever ties and seek out support.
Her journey healing from years of trauma is not merely about finding love; it's about reclaiming her own body and mind, breaking the cycle of abuse. While the world may be indifferent or even cruel, the act of being able to choose whom to trust or how to love is a big middle finger to those who caused her pain.
Thanks to Emily Klepp for gifting me an eARC of Unwritten. I am leaving this review voluntarily. All thoughts and opinions are my own
Unwritten is an intense, dark, spicy ride with so many twists and turns! Make sure you read the trigger warnings! Willow decided to make some distance between herself and her family after they tried to set up an arranged marriage for her. Plus, she wanted to try to make it on her own. She is a journalist for a newspaper and self published smut author. She is an extremely shy and anxious person so her evil, vile, pos boss, Colt takes advantage of that so she doesn't have to do interviews. But he sends her to interview accused unaliver Donovon Riviera in jail. Luckily, Donovan (aka. Diablo) is her brother's best friend and she has been in love with him for forever. Diablo, her brother Mason, and her bestie Maggie are amazing supports and help her deal with past trauma and all the craziness in present. Diablo also introduces Willow to a new kind of therapy with a fellow they already knew, Baxter. Willow's story is a MFM why choose story. I loved seeing her evole. She was so anxious and dealt with so much. I loved seeing her gain confidence and a voice. Diablo is perfection! He is protective, knows how to read Willow, and absolutely filthy in the best way. There is a second half and it is Maggie's story. It is also super dark, shocking, and brings the spice. I don't want to give too much away but it is a MMF why choose. Unwritten was super dark, creative, and I absolutely loved it. If the trigger warnings are not a deterrent I absolutely recommend this book!
Willow, who left her family after refusing an arranged marriage writes for a paper by day, and writes romance novels under a pen name by night.
Her boss Colt is using and abusing her. Willow struggles with having to interview people but little does he know sending her to the prison to interview Donavan aka Diablo is going to backfire majorly for him. Considering he doesn't give interviews but he will her, giving he's her brother's best friend, oh and she's in love with him.
A prison riot puts them in close proximity and they discover their true feelings for eachother. When released Willow is forced to come clean about what is happening to her.
I enjoyed Willow's relationship with her brother Mason, you can tell how important they are to eachother. Diablo a tough exterior- softie for her. Let's add in Baxter, a bit of BDSM & Willow doesn't have to choose.
I didn't see the twist coming but I wanted to hug Willow more.
I also liked the short story at the end with Maggie, Mason, & Dean.

Unwritten - A Dark Why Choose Romance !’ OMG . What an emotional rollercoaster that sucks you right in from the very first page and does not let go . I started reading late last night and to say I did not get any sleep would definitely be an understatement. Dark , Steamy , emotional and utterly delicious. A journey that will pull on all your heartstrings, that will wreck you and make you feel so many emotions you’ll never be expecting or see coming. The things our heroine Willow endured in her life , the trauma , the abuse no one should ever have to go through. What I loved most about her was her ability to persevere through it and come out even stronger. And her guys I loved them all . How her relationship with each was so different, the way they were so protective of her and would do anything and I mean anything for her . Thais is a story that so beautiful and emotional and raw . It has the perfect amount of darkness , it’s filled with complexities , it’s not all hearts ans flowers and it’s most definitely not an easy one , but I was so there for it all .
Eeeekkkk 1st off A-FRICKEN-MAZING!!!!!! Y'all Willows story is twisted, unhinged, heartbreaking, intense and healing all rolled together. The things she goes through then we later find out went through as a child absolutely would drive anyone to that bridge but I am so glad she had that AMAZING support system of Mason, Maggie, Diablo and Baxter. And y'all Willow and Diablo adorable and fricken HOLY HOTT and add in Baxter AMAZING....
But y'all that's not all we got a bonus Maggie's story!!!!! Which I COMPLETELY connected with; not only her trauma only it was a different person for me, but also the feeling of being completely alone while surrounded by people. That is the absolute worst place to be and y'all the way Mason and Dane use their absolute unhinged spicy ways to help her through her trauma and the most recent trouble she's gotten herself into.... Lord forgive me for I have Sinned 🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵
Willow works as a journalist at the Herald during the day and transforms into a romance author at night. She's been given an unprofessional assignment by her boss, Colt, to visit the prison and interview Diablo, the man she was once meant to marry. However, interviewing is not her strong suit, and she struggles with it. When a riot erupts in the prison, Diablo takes her into his cell for protection. This moment gives them a chance to reconnect, and Willow shares the troubling experiences with her boss and the inappropriate behavior she has faced. Afterward, Diablo helps her escape the prison, and she stays with him until he is released, ensuring her safety from Colt's influence. However, Colt has been scheming all along, having been in communication with Willow's parents. Once Diablo is freed, he and Willow's brother set out to confront Colt. In the end, the truth about who orchestrated Colt's harmful actions against Willow is revealed. *Check for trigger warnings!*
I was lucky enough to get a advanced reader copy of Unwritten by Emily Klepp.. Sorry No Spoilers Here First i must say shes done it again had me hook line and sinker .right from the start ..this is a dark romance plz read ur triggers . Maggie/Margaret is so strong an determined but also been through so much and then the worst happens again ..then u have Mason a kinda stalker vib at first but her savior also an u have Dean and his master plan ..and its a great one .turns out even better then Maggie could have even thought ..it brings all 3 of them closer then I thought ..if ur looking for a hang on ur seat read please check this out ..you dont wanna miss this one..This is a dual story book ..which includes another story with a woman named willow whom is small an meek shy an quiet an ends up in a situation in a prison ..which to me leads up to Maggie which im sure u guessed I love
Unwritten is a two part book Part one is Willow's story. and Part 2 is Maggies. Like many of Emily's books it is filled with hurt and trauma. A will to find better with sometimes the intrusive thoughts leaking in. But the thing that makes her books special is the trauma never defines them, it becomes part of them creating a stronger version of themselves as they heal. They also never seem to do it alone which I like. It reminds us that even when the darkness takes hold and we feel we are alone sometimes there are people there willing to help us out. This book much like her others make it a bit easier to read about this level of pain becuase you know there will be a rainbow at the end of all the rain and love that is granted to those who deserve it and revenge for those who tried to destroy their life.
This story hooked me from the first page. It's deeply emotional and very intense. We get two Why-Choose stories with Willow and her best friend Maggie. It's awesome that Willow and Maggie each find love with very handsome men. Willow has Diablo and Baxter. Maggie has Mason and Dean. Who are caring and protective over them. Touch her and die. Through each of their trauma their men help them heal and find safety and so much love. I'm not giving anything else away. This story is to amazing to not allow the reader to discover the story as they read. This story is dark, steamy and full of revenge and so very much love and support. Emily is so amazing. I absolutely love reading her books. I highly recommend this book. Please check TW before reading. It's intense. Otherwise settle in and get comfy with this amazing Dark Why-Choose Romance.
Unwritten includes two stories, Between the Pages and Between the Covers. In Between the Pages, Willow is a journalist but also writes smut under a pseudonym. Willow isn't taken seriously at work and is given an ultimatum in exchange for a serious assignment. The serious assignment is none other than her longtime crush and brother's best friend, Diablo. This is a spicy and suspenseful why choose romance. It has constant twists and surprises In Between the Covers, Maggie (Willow's best friend) writes dark, unhinged smut. When someone in danger runs toward her, Maggie calls Mason (Willow's brother) for help. It is a fun mmf romance with spice, and suspence and criminal enterprise. Both Willow and Maggie have more than their fair share of baggage and trauma. This was a page turner. Love how connected the two stories and all the characters are.
“Only now, as I am surrounded by my loved ones, do I realize that having my story unwritten only takes away all of the opportunities I got along the way to meet some of the best people I know.”
Seriously one of Emily’s best books in the why choose department. All of the couples felt organic in how they come together. I enjoyed one couple was MFM and the other was MMF makes it more interesting and it’s 2 couples but because of how close they are it’s basically like one found family.
“This stems from the fact that erotica is overall taboo. Women enjoying sex is taboo and wrongfully shamed. This is a battle that everyone who writes about sex faces either brad on or by association.”
SAY IT LOUDER EMILY!
“These men were fucking feral, and it only drives the point home that sometimes smut is realistic, despite the haters who say otherwise.”
I loved how the story was split into 2 parts and contained 2 interconnected stories. This is honestly something I've read alot from Emily and no other author. The first part is Willows story. How she has suffered at the hands of Colt after running away from home and not having much contact with her brother Mason and his best friend Donovan aka Diablo. But Maggie, her BFF has been by her side. One day changes everything when she is forced to go to the county jail and interview Diablo... from there all kinds of secrets and traumatic pasts are revealed along with hidden feelings. Then we get Maggie's traumatic and short story in the second part. We learn her past and how she gets together with Mason and Dean. The only reason why I gave it 4 stats is because Maggie's story was so short. Otherwise these were amazing!!
I thought i was going to read an actual spicy romance. The writing isnt great nor very descriptive- very much like watching porn, only key things are mentioned at bare minimum to reach the spicy parts.
Also fnc is being sa'd near daily by her boss in his office and the best way to end the trauma for the FMC is to have we with her & another guy she barely knows, inside a BDSM club while a bunch of people watch..
Also that epilogue at the end with the best friend of the fmc, their marriage ceremony is all 3 having sex ..err, consumation of their married INFRONT OF BOTH FAMILIES. What? If say, like parents or any family member decides to not show it's considered a sign of disrespect..
People that's the. Ringiest, dumbest thing ever. If youre going to write erotica, pls do it realistically and tastefully. Thst was just gross.
Willow is a journalist by day and smut writer by night. Willow has cut ties with her billionaire family, wanting to make it on her own. She had gone through abuse. Her stories are actually her personal fantasies about Donovon Riviera, “Diablo”, her brother’s friend. Unknowingly, her boss sends her to interview him in prison where he was just charged with murder. Of course, she was paraded down the corridors to his cell with all the cons watching her. Once she is with him, an incident happens and they are stuck together for a while. Spiciness ensues. There is another part to the story with her friend Maggie and her brother Mason. Maggie also has an unsettling past and calls Mason. There are two substories with trauma healing and it is well written. There are triggers, so check the warnings.
willow works for the herald but she isnt a confident woman and struggles interviewing people but her boss colt uses this against her in every way possible. Colt sends willow to a prison to interview her brother best friend over something he was set up for upon interviewing her brothers best friend diablo things turn nasty at the prison which is where diablo and willow connect on a more intemit level. they get willow out and she goes lives at diablos till hes out where she will be safe from colts hands but behind Colt being the way he is he had been in talks with willows parents all along and it was all planned. willow gets kidnapped by Colt and ab**ed. the book also looks in to maggies life who is willows best friend
I loved this! It's 2 stories in 1 book & it was NOT an easy read. The 1st one is about Willow & her guys. She cut ties to her family because of an arranged marriage & is a journalist. But the guys she works for is a piece of work, she was traumatized by him & felt that she couldn't say no. She goes & interviews a friend from her past & the sparks are still there. A lot happens here, there's twists & turns I did not see coming. Secrets come to light, but justice is served. The 2nd one is Maggie & her guys' story & she's been just as traumatized as Willow. There's so much you find out about her & my heart breaks for them both. Please keep in mind, this is a DARK book, they all have trauma to some degree. Recommend this book & author!
This book is what I have more recently coming to really like about Emily's writing. While the trauma that Willow endures is horrific and can be graphic, it is how she heals afterwards with the help of Diablo and Mason that I liked a lot.
I was able to connect to all three and therefore, I was able to engage with the story better. Both Diablo and Mason are alphas. Yet at the same time, they know when to pull back with Willow or give some tough love.
This book features a nice surprise after Willow's story. It features a short four chapter story that has Willow's friend, Maggie telling her story. It does interconnect a little as it incorporates the rest of the characters as well. Another good book by Emily.
This book was a kind of two for one special. You have the main couple and them you get the story of her brother and best friend as a bonus. Emily does a fantastic job of giving you more than you every thought you could have. Willow is a journalist. She is asked to write a newspaper article on Diablo. He is someone her family know well. She is not afraid to go to the jail to speak him. They have tried to pin a murder on him that he did not commit. While speaking with him some things happen and he protects Willow. Once he comes home they start a true relationship. There were some moments that I never saw coming. It was a fantastic ride. I adored this story and it was a pretty quick and satisfying read.
Read your trigger warnings I wanted to punch Colt in the balls from day one. What a giant turd. Maggie is precious and everyone needs someone on their side like her. Willow, you sweet little devil you, writing your filthy smut. I wish I was genius enough to write dirty books based off the man I was pining over. Mason is the bestest big brother ever and he seems to be pretty sweet on the eyes. If I ever get locked up, please put me in the same cell as Dio. If you have time, send Baxter to the same cell would you? I’m hungry for a manwich. No one ever suspects betrayal to come from within the circle of the ones you love. 10/10
