Rate this book
MANCHESTER'S ANSWER TO MARTINA COLE Alice Goodman has been forbidden from entering Tavistock Square for as long as she can remember but, now aged fifteen, the place looks tempting. Will she listen to her nana's warnings and steer clear or is she destined to make the same mistakes as her drunken, violent mother? Karen Woods returns to familiar territory for her 12th novel to weave a tale of deceit, child abuse and desperation.

Brilliant

This is the series one book of hers that I have read. Couldn't put it down. Karen is a great writer. I was getting bored with Martina Coles work. as she was becoming very repetitive. This book was exciting sad scary. just brilliant. Can not wait to read another citizens books. Thanks Karen keep them coming please. I would recommend this book to any Martina fans. You won't be disappointed.

Another gripping and gritty page turner. Karen’s story telling gets better and better with each new book. It was easy to quickly get into the story and it’s filled with exciting twists and turns with a thrilling conclusion.
This is my favourite book so far and I am reading Karen’s novels in the order they were released.

Another brilliant and gripping read by Karen woods I couldn`t put it down. Its had suspense and heartbreak all rolled into one. A story of abuse and neglect and also survival of the environment a person lives in. Its a story about Alice a girl who is neglected and abused appallingly by her mother and lovers and comes out the other side a stronger more confident person when she finds love with an unlikely source Terry. Terry has his own demons and his past misdemeanors come back to haunt him in the form of his sister when she is abducted and brutally hurt by his enemies. His payback will be his downfall however but he has Alice at the end of the day and the book ended with the chance of a follow up story of the pair.

This one was Karen woods at her best . Nitty gritty tale full of dodgy people . Funny in parts but quite sad in others . Thinking there may be a follow up hopefully
