Like my favourite bookish heroines, I found the love of a lifetime, except now I can’t remember how…
Paisley
My summer plans were simple. Kiss my husband, snuggle my dog, and create an elite reading list for the library. Losing seven years' worth of memories after near-death by window artistry, thanks to my klutzy nature? Absolutely not part of the plan.
In one short day, I went from stealing kisses with Greyson to waking up in the hospital to a handsome stranger—the man I forgot I married. Every memory of us is a blank slate, and I’m in the middle of a life I dreamed of but can’t remember.
But there are three things I’m sure of:
1. I have no intention of letting a man break my heart again
2. For all his grumpiness, Greyson has a heart of gold. Better than any fictional hero
3. And my heart is very much in danger of falling in love again…with my husband
Greyson
My time in the Marines didn’t prepare me for this kind of campaign—Operation Woo My Wife. Of all the nightmares I’ve struggled with since my last mission overseas, Paisley forgetting me was never one of them.
Competing against old and forgotten memories brings its own kind of challenges, but I’m not giving up. She already has my heart. I just need to win hers back. Because I can’t fail her again. I want to be the hero she remembers.
In Every Chapter is an amnesia rom-com featuring an already married couple refalling in love, plenty of heartfelt healing, everyday faith, swoony banter, and laugh aloud small town shenanigans—all without the spice.
Morgan Taylor Giesbrecht fell in love with fictional realms at a young age and quickly began writing tales of her own--full of hope, brave living in a dark world, and unexpected love stories for the crusty romantics (like herself). She’s a hobbit at heart (but not in height) with deep roots in the past, who loves the occasional adventure, accidentally talks in a British accent on occasion, and has the dry humour to match. When she isn’t writing or reading a book on her never ending to-be-read list, she can be found drinking copious amounts of tea, rewatching comfort shows for the umpteenth time, hanging out with family and friends, reorganising her bookshelves, or playing Christmas music year-round. British Columbia, Canada is the place she calls home, nestled in the foothills.
I’m so glad you’re here! IEC might be the hardest book I’ve written to date, but it’s also my favourite.
There’s something established love going through growing pains and coming out stronger on the other side. (No, this is not a marriage on the rocks.) Greyson and Paisley both have their monsters to face but also fall in love again.
If you’re ready for an emotional yet hilarious read, LOTR obsessed characters, and small town charm—welcome to Serenity Springs, ID, where everyone knows your business but also brings casseroles.
5 stars. Amnesia? Ex-military MMC? Librarian FMC? Falling in love as a married couple? The tropes were practically screaming my name. Boy, did I enjoy this. I loved Greyson's protectiveness and tenderness, especially as he navigated Paisley's trauma from her abusive former husband. I loved Paisley's humour and bookishness. I loved the vibrant family and close-knit friend group. I loved the cute little town. This was like eating apple pie with vanilla ice cream—warm, sweet, swoony, and wholesome. 💙 I am in love with this cast and I can't wait to read more about them all!
Content: several mentions of wedding nights/sharing beds, etc. The romance was a tiny bit more sizzly than I, personally, was wholly comfortable with, but it was clean and closed-door, and a lovely portrayal of married romance.
*I received a complimentary copy of this book for promotional purposes. I was not required to write a positive review. These are my honest thoughts and opinions.*
I don't know that I've wanted to read a contemporary romance that fast in a long. This was such a sweet story full of depth and heart. I felt the emotions along with the characters, sometimes wanting to cry with them or laugh with them. Greyson and Paisley are just the cutest couple ever. And I absolutely love how Giesbrecht did the marriage trope so beautifully. This was not one of those marriage-on-the-rocks tropes, but rather an amnesia I-forgot-who-I-married trope. I loved connecting with the friends and getting to know them a little better in this book and look forward to reading more about the characters in this town.
This was so well written. The author did a fabulous job of pulling me into the story and feeling all the emotions.
(The Reluctant Romantics: book 2 *Note: while this can be read as a standalone, there are prominent scenes with characters from book 1, so reading them in order will add depth to those moments!)
Ahh, where do I begin with my thoughts on this sweet book??
First, the small-town setting is so charming, especially with the main characters' cozy home and Paisley's job as a librarian! (And even though I didn't connect with every book/movie reference, I knew quite a few of them, which was fun!) And the characters?? So good! Big families and supportive friends add so much heart to the story.
Now, the romance: Paisley and Grayson are adorable together! I loved his patient desire to rewin her heart after amnesia claims her memories of him - so emotional!! As for Paisley, her personality shines through in lots of ways, and I especially enjoyed her resilience and humor!
The romance is also closed-door. Since it focuses on a married couple, a few kisses/attraction moments are more passionate than the kinds of "first-time-meeting" romances I typically read, but I do feel the author handled the marriage dynamics tactfully (and there are no fade-to-black scenes, which I appreciated very much)!
The faith themes are great too! They're somewhat light overall, but I liked reminders to trust God in difficult/unknown times.
If you're interested in swoon-worthy adult romances with depth, closed-door marriage revivals, and amnesia stories, I'd definitely recommend this!
*Content to note* .....May contain spoilers..... A few implied moments of intimate feelings/attraction (without sexual details or fade-to-black scenes). Hospital visit; head trauma due to fall (mildly detailed/not graphic). Brief military PTSD scenes (including nightmares); mentions of friend passing due to military accident. Discussions of past abusive husband (no graphic details). Mention of fatal car accident (no graphic details). Scenes of grief. Discussions of childhood traumas (alcoholic parent, foster care, etc.)

What a delightful read! Everything about this book fits into the tropes and storylines that I like. Also, books with married couples (whether marriage of convenience or already married is definitely a new favorite. There were gentle reminders of God and His Faithfulness throughout the story that touched my heart, and there was one scene that made me tear up. Paisley and Greyson were a dream couple. They completed each other in their marriage. Greyson was sweet and tender with Paisley. He did his best to be patient with her situation. But he also has his own struggles. PTSD from the Marines combined with current challenges and decisions added to his complexity. As a side note, I loved the family/ friendship dynamics of the two characters. Paisley was a character I for sure related to emotionally. Her thought process and emotions felt so personal and relatable. Even though she had her fair share of trauma, her spirit remained sweet. I loved her wardrobe and the relationships she had with her friends.
📚The vibes: - Amnesia - Marriage in crisis - PTSD rep - Faith themes (light) - Closed door (kisses only)
📚 My thoughts: This book had a lot of things that I loved. Marriage, memory loss, and starting over. There’s some heavy themes such as domestic abuse in a past relationship and PTSD. I appreciated how both of those plot lines were handled by the author.
📚 Seeing Greyson’s patience and love as Paisley was trying to re-figure out life was my favorite. Also- as someone who loves the Lord of the Rings films, I really liked all of the nods and winks to the films and the books. There are so many little references and mentions of it throughout the entire book, and I ate it up. I also loved Jerry, the town Maine Coon cat.
📚 There were a lot of side characters and relationships to keep up with. They blurred together in the background with the exception of Juliet who I loved. Also, Mama D deserves an honorable mention. Her scenes were few but powerful. 😭
📚 I would have loved more detail about Greyson coping with PTSD and his struggle with his losses. I also would have loved to see more moments occur on page. There were conversations/moments that passed by off page. (Ie “we talked about everything and nothing…”; “we chatted over breakfast”; or conversations about future dreams and the pros and cons all being off page.)
📚Overall, this was precious. I appreciate seeing more stories like this in the closed door universe, and I’ll definitely try more from this author.
Note / spice content: closed door (kisses only) Release date: June 2, 2026.
Thank you so much to Morgan Taylor Giesbrecht for the gifted copy. I received this eARC from the author, and this honest review is voluntary.
An amnesia romcom featuring an already married couple falling back in love. A Reluctant Romantics Book 2, after Terms and Traditions which came out last November. I have read a couple other amnesia romances and this one is my favorite. The others were good, but this one had so much love and devotion that I didn’t want to stop reading.
Paisley is the small town’s sweet librarian who also has a feisty side. When she falls and hits her head, she loses the memory of the last 7 years which includes all memories of her husband and their marriage.
Greyson is an ex-Marine and when he sees his wife falling but can’t help her, it only begins the heartache of having to woo his wife back into loving him.
Some favorite quotes: "Books had long been my primary means of escape, and if that turned me into a nerd, well, that was a small price to pay compared to what I could have used to cope instead.”
“Who needed to fall off a ladder to lose your memories when Greyson Satterfield made me forget everything with a simple forehead kiss?”
“Worship in the mystery. Praise in the mystery. Trust in the mystery.”
“Two distinct smells married into one. Was that what marriage was? Two intertwined lives, two hearts, one journey.”
From the very first page, the chemistry between Paisley and Greyson was evident. I loved exploring the history between them, from their first meeting at a Lord of the Rings trivia night to scenes from their life as a married couple prior to the accident. Seeing their lives together made Paisley’s accident that much more devastating as a reader when she wakes up with no memory of her husband.
Greyson never wavers in his desire to win back his wife’s heart. He remains a steady and supportive presence in her life but never pushes her for more than she is comfortable with. Paisley may have no memory of Greyson, but she still feels drawn to him in a way that she cannot explain. As he patiently pursues her, Paisley starts to see what an incredible man Greyson is. Watching Paisley fall in love with Greyson all over again kept me completely invested in their journey.
I love that the story is told through dual POV because experiencing Greyson and Paisley’s perspectives helped me better understand their emotions and motivations. There are also flashback chapters in between the main timeline that help fill in any gaps and show how the characters got to where they are today. Both characters have incredibly supportive friends and family that make you wish you lived in their small yet special hometown.
If you love stories about rediscovering love and falling for the same person twice, this book belongs on your shelf. Their story is a beautiful reminder that love is sometimes worth fighting for more than once.
Oh, how I loved Greyson and Paisley right from the start. I mean a Marine veteran and a librarian? What more could you ask for? (Says the bookish girl married to her own Marine.) Their meeting was sweet, and then we jump forward five and a half years and see that they're now married, and all that chemistry is still very much alive... and I was here for it. Amnesia is one of those tropes that can be more hit and miss for me. When it's not done well, it just feels like a cheesy daytime soap opera... but when it's done well, I love it! And I am happy to say that this one was done VERY well. Seeing Paisley fall in love with Greyson all over again without those earlier memories was so beautifully done. Their story touched on tougher topics such as his PTSD from military service, mentions of abuse, infertility, etc. and yet there was a gentleness about their story that kept it from feeling too heavy. Just the perfect blend of tenderness and sizzling chemistry with faith and healing... truly a must read!
In Every Chapter is a faith-filled closed-door romance with kisses only and no language. It is the second book in the Reluctant Romantics series but could be enjoyed as a standalone as well.
**ARC received for consideration. All opinions are my own.
"I laughed, I cried...it moved me, Bob" --Veggie Tales
I fell in love with Paisley and Grey in the first couple of chapters and it never let go. I think "married with amnesia" might be a new favorite trope...or maybe it's just that Morgan captured this couple in this way so beautifully that it's the only way I'll like it. We shall see!
My usual problem with contemporary romance wasn't one here. Yes, there are moments of levity. There are moments where the characters are allowed to simply exist in their environment (you're so in love with said characters to not mind the slightly mundane scenes--shopping, girl trips, BBQ dinners, etc--You WANT them because you want to live in the world for as long as possible). But! The angst is real and raw and honest. Morgan doesn't shy away from hard subjects that strip away pretense until the characters are human with each other, flaws and beauty both.
If you want a gentle love story that will make you feel all the feels as you read it, then this is the book for you! I was sent this book from the author as an early review copy. My opinion is my own, and I will be ordering this book ASAP.
I thoroughly enjoyed this sweet and heartfelt romance. The amnesia trope can be difficult to pull off well, but the author handled it beautifully by focusing on the emotional journey between Paisley and Greyson rather than relying on unnecessary drama. Watching a married couple fall in love all over again was both touching and refreshing. Greyson's unwavering devotion, patience, and determination to win back his wife's heart made him an incredibly lovable hero, while Paisley's humor, love of books, and resilience made her easy to root for. The small-town setting added warmth and charm to the story, and the supporting cast brought plenty of laughter and heart. I especially appreciated the themes of forgiveness, healing, faith, and the power of unconditional love. If you enjoy clean contemporary romance, bookish heroines, devoted heroes, small-town communities, and stories about second chances within marriage, this book is a wonderful choice. Filled with humor, heart, and plenty of swoon-worthy moments, it is a charming reminder that true love is worth fighting for—even when the memories are gone.
Paisley’s sense of humor drew me in from page one. After her fall, I had to know if she would eventually get her memories back. Queue me buckling in for the adventure.
Greyson’s unwavering love for his wife, tenderness, and willingness to do whatever it took to help Paisley process her past while hoping she healed was the sweetest. And her friends were the best.
There were moments I laughed at the connection I felt to my fellow nerdy book characters, was shocked by a reveal, and wiped away a few tears while seeing parts of myself in the pages of this book. The humor and tenderness was a beautiful combination I didn’t know I’d enjoy so much.
Morgan Taylor Giesbrecht did an amazing job handling heavy topics with kindness and a gentleness that radiated truth. I finished this book with a smile on my face, a happy heart, and excitement for the next book in the series. I was given a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Content: infertility, military PTSD and injuries, nightmares, domestic abuse (previous relationship, off-screen), alcoholic mother, parental neglect, growing up in foster care, grief, kisses only.

📚Bookish Girl Summer ☀️Amnesia Trope 💌 Married Couple Falling in Love Again 🍓Lovable Friend Group
GOODNESS, what a beautiful story! If you’re looking for a rom-com with depth and realistic characters without the heavy angst, this is it!
I absolutely LOVED Terms and Traditions and could not wait for the next installment in this series. I’m very happy to say that I adored this story just as much as the first! All of these characters will make you feel like you're part of the friend group. Seeing Paisley and Greyson love and support each other so fully—even through such hardship—was so lovely. It’s the perfect balance of coziness and depth that will get you right in the heart. I love these precious, hurting cuties so much! I just want to give them the biggest hug. 🥹🥹
Okay, now here’s your official warning: be prepared to fall in love with Greyson Satterfield… “My wife.” YEAH. It’s GOOD.
The perfect addition to an absolutely beautiful series. I can’t wait to see what’s next!
I adored these two! Honestly, the whole Satterfield clan is precious.
I adored meeting Greyson and Paisley in this book, but really there are so many amazing characters in the story. The romance between Greyson and Paisley is precious, and so healing, but that's only part of what makes this story so special. The friendships, sibling relationships, and mentoring as the older characters and parent figures pass down time tested wisdom and advice were all well done and created a story that truly feels like a warm hug and delicious chai latte on a chilly morning. Is forced to mention a negative aspect, it would be Denver, who makes no attempt to hide his smarmy-ness from anyone who meets him. Thankfully his role in the story is blessedly brief, but yeah...be warned, lol!
I jumped into the Reluctant Romantics series here, without having read the first book, and had no trouble following along. Stephanie and Nash are mentioned, but the transition was easy to follow, and context is given to make this one enjoyable as both a stand alone, and as part of the series. I loved meeting the characters In Every Chapter, and look forward to reading more of their stories in the series.
I enjoyed so much about In Every Chapter! It is sweet and gentle yet has deep emotion that brought me almost to tears in a couple places.
I have always loved books with amnesia. The thought of what would people do when they can not remember is so intriguing. I absolutely loved how Paisley fell in love with her husband all over agian, and his determination to win her a second time is swoon worthy.
Morgan Taylor Giesbrecht weaves meaning, feeling and faith into the story naturally, giving it layers without getting to heavy.
While rooting for the characters you get throw back chapters sprinkled here and there not only giving you glimpses of the past but tieing your feelings to these fictional people who you do not want to leave by the end of the book. This is my first book by this author and now I want to go back and read the other book in this series and look forward to more!
The author generously donated a copy of the book to my ever growing horde of books takeing over my house. My opinions, like my book horde, are large, uncontrollable, and all mine!
I received a copy of this book for an honest review.
In Every Chapter (IEC)- 5/5 ⭐
What do you do when the woman you love and have vowed to love and protect doesn't remember you? Or what happens when you wake up only to find out that you are no longer the same woman you used to be and have no recollection of the past seven years?
This is Greyson and Paisley's story. Greyson and Paisley are a happily married couple until Paisley experiences amnesia due to an accident. Now Greyson has to try to win his wife back.
This book is about LOVING, not just in words but in actions. I loved how intentional the characters- especially the MMC and FMC were. They kept praying for each other and trusting in Jesus. It reminds me that Love always wins. I won't forget the support systems and vulnerable friendships in this book. I read book 1, so I almost felt like I was part of their friend group.
If you enjoy a small-town setting, a handsome and intentional MMC, friendship-centered, praying characters, amnesia, or the married couple rekindling love trope, then this book is for you.
I absolutely love this book, literally enjoyed 'every chapter'.
Thank you so much, Morgan Taylor Giesbrecht, for the ARC. I'm looking forward to reading more of your books.
In Every Chapter by Morgan is book two in The Reluctant Romantics series, and it beautifully weaves faith throughout the story.
This closed-door rom-com will have you laughing one moment and tearing up the next.
The story continues from book one, Terms and Traditions, which I highly recommend reading first. There are references to events and characters from the first book, and some storylines continue into this one, so you’ll enjoy it much more if you’ve read them in order.
Paisley and Greyson’s story is both beautiful and heartbreaking. Honestly, it’s difficult to share too much without giving away spoilers, so I’ll simply say this: read the book. You won’t regret it.
Morgan does a wonderful job exploring deeper themes while still delivering a heartfelt romance and faith-filled story.
⚠️ Please note that this book contains discussions of mental health, abandonment, PTSD, and alcohol abuse. While these topics are handled thoughtfully, it’s worth checking the content warnings before diving in.
I received an ARC copy from the author and was not required to leave a positive review. All opinions and thoughts are my own.
“There was no changing the past. All we could do was live forward.”
In Every Chapter is a clean contemporary romance novel and is the second book in the Reluctant Romantics series of interconnected romance novels. You could read this as a standalone but would be best enjoyed as the second book in the series.
Morgan balances the romance and lightheartedness of the book with real-life circumstances and hard topics well. She also does a good job with character development with such a large cast of characters—even the side characters are unique/memorable (and there’s a handy character list for reminders).
If you’re looking for a modern-day book with humor/wit, a cast of relatable characters, swoony but clean romance, and small town charm, this is that book.
***I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author and this voluntary review is all my own thoughts***
Thank you so much to the author for my gifted copy. All opinions are my own.
This BOOK! Words truly cannot express how much I enjoyed reading this book. I read it in less than 12 hours which rarely happens for me. These main characters were absolutely amazing. I loved the spunk of the FMC and the gentle strength of the MMC. The plot flowed so well. I enjoyed the dual timeline aspect of the book. It was great to see Nash and Stephanie in the book as well. There were some hard topics in the book, and the author wrote about each with complete respect. Those topics didn't feel like add in for the sake of the story, but vital parts to Greyson and Paisley's book. Everything about this book was perfection. I now need the author to write everyone else's stories because I couldn't get enough of them. I highly recommend this book and this series!! (Also, the Tolkien references and other literary references were perfect gems in this book!)
I really enjoyed this book and found myself smiling almost the entire way through. Paisley and Greyson’s chemistry was amazing. I loved all the bookish references.. so many LOTR since they were both obsessed! This book had so many amazing tropes.. as soon as I saw “amnesia” I was like YES! I loved the small town feel and the close-knit family and friend group. Even though both main characters had a lot of past trauma to work through, this book still had such a fun, sweet, swoony feel. This book was a pleasure to read and I found myself grabbing my phone to read some more as soon as I woke up!
Even though there were some sizzly moments, there was no spice. There was some talk about wedding nights, etc. No language.
Calling all Lord Of The Rings fans! Seriously, this book is for you. We loved the amount of references Morgan put in Paisley and Greyson’s story! It brought childhood nostalgia to us as we read how they found their way back to each other.
Get ready for all the feels from heartbreak, to laughter, to swoon, to healing. In Every Chapter has it all! It is such a sweet read!
Greyson was so patient and steadfast with Paisley as she fell in love with him all over again. And the way Paisley encourages and supports Greyson, even though she can’t even remember falling in love with him, is the sweetest. These two and their story are sure capture your heart!
The friendships and found family also really drew us in. We can’t wait to read about the other characters HEAs!
I loved getting to meet Greyson and Paisley! They were the cutest couple :) I loved how Greyson was so patient with Pais while she didn't remember him. Morgan did a great job of keeping the reader interested all through the story! It was really awesome to see Nash & Steph get married. I love it when past characters play a role in the next book.
I have to say, amnesia is not my favourite trope. Also, I was hoping that she would fully get her memory back -- but she never did. It just said that it was slowly coming back... so I was left to assume if she got her memory back or not.
Anyway, it was a great read and totally recommend!
"In Every Chapter" is a sweet summer romance which, even in its lightheartedness, has the power to grapple with complex themes. Paisley's journey of healing and rediscovery after amnesia is inspiring. I loved how everything in the story unfolds through the lens of faith. I was most moved by the portrayal of married love, in the simple daily sacrifices through which husband and wife serve one another.
The author paints an idyllic world that doesn't seem tainted by secularism. This could appear naive to some, but it's also refreshing to read a story where morality isn't relativistic and the characters are truly driven by Christian values.
What a sweet story about what it means to be a hero in someone’s life. This book demonstrates how everyday faithfulness far exceeds momentary grand gestures, embodying the steadfast love of God. When Paisley finds herself losing all memory of the last seven years of her life, Greyson—her husband who is part of the missing years—steps in and provides comfort and healing after her traumatic injury. Alongside his patient support, Paisley’s friends and extended family members in Serenity Springs form a tight-knit community that helps her navigate the way forward. I appreciate that Morgan Taylor Giesbrecht sensitively portrays difficult topics in this book while respecting all that Paisley has had to endure in her past.
With well-placed flashbacks offering glimpses into formative experiences for both Paisley and Greyson, it’s easy to picture them as strong and whole individuals who come together to create an even stronger bond through marriage. Their banter and gentle courtship is reminiscent of the literary references that abound in their relationship, making this book a reader’s dream. I love that God is ever-present and that the characters trust Him when their world is turned upside down. It’s an encouraging story that points to gratitude and hope, helping us not to take the people in our lives for granted. Readers who enjoy second chance romances within marriage will fall in love with Paisley and Greyson as they re-experience the gift of a spouse who places the other person's needs before their own.
A beautiful touching story of healing as Paisley and Greyson journey through the struggles of amnesia. Many emotions felt as Paisley relearns the path her life has taken over the last few years. There is alot to love about this story - sweet and romantic moments as Greyson tries to win his wife back, supportive family and friends, small town feel with all its busybodies, and the faith aspects. I enjoyed revisiting some of the characters from the first book and can’t wait for more books in this series. Thank you to the author for the ARC.
