Then total insanity took hold and she became a corporate lawyer. Fortunately, she had two sons and they inspired her to write stories for children. Of course, her oldest son is responsible, logical, studious, considerate, grateful and even makes his bed. The youngest one is only interested in having fun – lots of it. And, except for his teachers, he makes everyone laugh. Their antics have inspired many of Sally’s stories. Sally lives in Melbourne, Australia with her family and two dogs – Pebbles, who is sensible, and Jade, who just wants to have fun.

This started so well and looked like being a fun read for middle graders but such a weak ending!!!

This is a great book for anyone who has had trouble sitting through a wedding. And I bet there's a lot of us out there. Max is basically a good kid who can't stay out of trouble. Sometimes he makes bad choices, but sometimes the trouble finds him. The characters are good and Max's escapades are really funny. I could see this being a big hit with middle graders. I look forward to more Max stories.

I recommend this book for kids who like to read funny books. I think this book is great. All kids should read this book. This book is for kids who can't behave at weddings or at a party. Maxs revenge should be read to all kids. My favorite thing about this book is that it is fun to read

This book is part of a series but can be read as a standalone book.
Reviewed by my 11 year old son who really enjoyed the characters and the storyline
In the beginning you meet Max, a troublemaker, his dad, and Charlie, his brother. Charlie and Max have the attention span of two year olds. They have evil aunt who really loves getting them into trouble, they call her Aunt Evil.
Max goes to Dan (his uncle's) wedding to Jen. He climbs a flagpole because Charlie dared him too, and Aunt Evil scares him and he falls down. Max gets into serious trouble for climbing the flagpole. In the middle, Max gets into serious trouble he cannot do anything he wants to. He tries to get out of trouble by going to Archer's birthday party. Archer is one of Charlie's friends. He ends up being the one to entertain about 40 4-year-olds. While there he ends up getting into even more trouble. In the end he makes dog food stew. He was going to feed it to Aunt Evil. Soon he learns that her plan was better for his grandma than he thought and he ends up eating it up himself. He does that to save Aunt Evil.
I like the beginning because it tells you about the characters. I also like it because the characters are really funny. In the middle he gets into serious trouble but he dresses up like a pirate at the birthday party. The end is my favorite because it is very heartwarming and I also like it because he eat something gross.
I would really recommend the Max series to anyone looking for a funny story with cool characters

If you haven't read a 'Max' book yet this is the one to start with. Max is like a really great friend, and the more you read the more you get to know him. Perfect books for boys aged 9 to 12 years, but girls also like these stories. Actually Max loves girls too. Like Lucy at the wedding that goes horribly wrong. Max has a quick mind and he jumps to conclusions, this often gets him into difficult situations. But he is a pretty fair person too... so what's he going to do with the dog food stew!

My children love these little books. They thoroughly enjoy each and every story, as if they are all unique and individual without any cause for similarity among them. Even though sometimes, they might seem tedious and repetitive to me as a parent, I do enjoy being able to read short-stories to my children that are clean and respective.

This is the first book in a series of books revolving on the main character, Max. Max always seems to get the short end of the stick. His older brother, Charlie, is perceived to be perfect. In the first story, the siblings are invited to the wedding of their Uncle Dan. But before the vows are exchanged, Charlie lures Max into a trap that ends with his falling out of a tree and disrupting the wedding. Things further deteriorate at the wedding reception, when Charlie attracts the flower girl, Lucy, who Max adores. Charlie becomes a partner in crime with the bartender and Sophie's three brothers who conspire to booby trap the marriage getaway car. To make matters worse, Max's evil Aunt conspires to get Max into trouble. Of course, Max finds devious ways to get his revenge.
The second story centers around Charlie and Max's visit to their Nana's house. A social worker has persuaded the boys' parents to take a much-needed break. While at Nana's house, the boys discover that the evil Aunt is trying to get Nana to sell her house. The boys get their revenge on their Aunt and try to prevent the sale. They plan several pranks to thwart the sale, but they discover Nana secretly wants to move. How will they undo the damage? The hilarious result will be that Max has to eat dog food stew.
Children in grades three to six will find themselves empathizing with poor Max. Perhaps they have a relative like Max's evil Aunt. The comedy is spot on and the dialogue appears genuine and age appropriate. Length of the stories is not too long so the book will appeal to reluctant readers. Perfect choice for a summer read.

This is a fun, witty young teen novel. Kids, you know ... will always be kids. Max and his older brother are always threatened by their dad if they break his rules. Dad gives them stern instructions as to how to behave on Dan and Sophie's wedding day. Oops, the kids know Dan likes to be called Daniel and dad is reminded of that by Max. Max had originally been chosen to be pageboy, but that was changed, and Max is not happy about that. It's Aunt Evil who got Max replaced as pageboy. Max will get even with Aunt Evil ... he's determined to seek revenge. The flower girl is Lucy and Max wished he could be next to her walking down the aisle. The two boys are bored waiting for the ceremony to start. They play "I Spy" and are laughing, getting the evil eye from many people as the preacher is making his speech. Dad forces them outside the church to wait by the doors. Dad is grumpy ... really grumpy! Just how upset will he be when he learns that Max has climbed up the flagpole in front of the church, gets wrapped in the Australian flag, and falls to the ground just when the wedding party exits the church?!! I received the book for free through Goodreads First Reads.I enjoyed this story about a young boy who seems to find himself getting into trouble from time to time. His Aunt spreads gossip about Max and his mishaps. He blames her for being replaced in the wedding party. His plot for revenge starts on the way to the Wedding where his troubles continue. At one point he is joined by a girl he likes who helps him with his plot for revenge. Once again his efforts only cause him more trouble. He tries to get back in his parents good graces during a party at the house of a family friend. Guess who shows up. The Aunt who has the gift of gab. More trouble for Max continues without his intent. Max once again is intent on revenge. It is during his stay at Grandma's house, when his Aunt comes to dinner, that he makes his final plan for revenge.

Max’s Revenge by Sally Gould eBook is a funny adventure book that had my kids laughing with tears!!! Max, a funny little boy, has been dumped from his position as a pageboy at his uncle’s wedding, and the guilty party for his replacement is no one else but his aunt…Max wants revenge, especially when he finds out of the aunt’s evil plan to sell his Nanna’s house!!! Nothing can stop Max from his plan, and soon his revenge is taking fruit…
I highly recommend this book for children and young adult, as well. It is well written, the characters are hilarious and the story is engaging! Max became one of the favorites around the house!

It seems to me as if Max could give Joey Pigza a run for his money. Meet what seems to this retired teacher a hero I would consider to exhibit characteristics normally found in someone diagnosed with ADHD. Add an aunt that is hated by the brothers and you have a magical grouping for the potential for disaster. This would make a great read aloud for 2-4 grades (I chuckled in several spots) and would provide an opportunity of what will probably happen next.

This book was cute. I wanted to just keep reading it. I didn't like how the book just ended though. It was like I was really into the story then all of a sudden it was over. All in all a great book for young readers especially boys.
