This is a ripper of a book. Masterful. Inspirational. Provocative. Considered.

This Cambridge Elements book explores the trope of virtuosity in poetry. But it is 'about' so much more, with resonance and meaning for music, film, and other genres of writing. The dance between skill and performance, technique and execution, provides the momentum for the text.

I was inspired by the close textual reading, and the expansive contextual commentaries about disaster, climate change, and the precariat. While I knew most of the featured poets, I am inspired - right now - to see out the other stunning writers, and their stunning writing.

A masterful book. A meaningful book. In dark times.
