Amber Kell has made a career out of daydreaming. It has been a lifelong habit she practices diligently as shown by her complete lack of focus on anything not related to her fantasy world building.

When she told her husband what she wanted to do with her life he told her to go have fun.

During those seconds she isn't writing she remembers she has children who humor her with games of 'what if' and let her drag them to foreign lands to gather inspiration. Her youngest confided in her that he wants to write because he longs for a website and an author name—two things apparently necessary to be a proper writer.

Despite her husband's insistence she doesn't drink enough to be a true literary genius she continues to spin stories of people falling happily in love and staying that way.

She is thwarted during the day by a traffic jam of cats on the stairway and a puppy who insists on walks, but she bravely perseveres..

She also writes under the name Mikela Q. Chase

I'm pretty sure I'd like this more but I think I'm feeling a slump coming on. Nothing feels like I want to read it. I dunno. Once they'd got together for their first sexual shenanigans I basically felt done which is a reflection on my mood I assume, because this is normally the sort of thing I'd be enjoying the heck out of. I still was, but in a slightly fatigued way. I've got ennui! I've picked up several titles, m/m, SF, fantasy, nothing suits me at the moment. So I'm going with 3.5 stars based on probably just not feeling it right now.

This was a short quick read that I liked. Declan has pined for Phoenix Moorhaven long enough. He is determined to have a life of his own Declan accepts a blind date. However the vampire Master isn't having it he doesn't want anyone touching Declan but him. Declan tells his date a wolf shifter named George what he is and who he works for he backs off and leaves him hanging. Phoenix offers to take his place. This was a really well written book I love reading Ms. Kell's books they are always hot. Phoenix wants Declan as his mate, but Declan is a house elf and he broke his mother's number one rule don't have sex with your boss. Although the story was short I wanted to learn more about Phoenix and Declan's relationship I am sure down the road I will hear more about this couple.

This was a fun, fluffy little story about a house-elf who pines for his boss who just happens to be a vampire. Declan is a butler and loves maintaining Master Phoenix's mansion.

When Declan decides to get him some and makes a date with a gorgeous werewolf, Phoenix becomes very jealous and decides to make Declan his.

This is an interesting book. Too bad, it's quite short that--while we get some pleasant surprises about who Declan really is--the development of the characters is not there. As if we're just thrown into a middle of the story.

I enjoyed this more than I expected to, as I tend not to enjoy vampires as much as I did 10 years ago.

This would have been 4 stars for me, but I found the business with the werewolves and elves to be unnecessary, especially as there was no hint of that in the blurb. I just wanted to read a lighthearted read without unwanted drama.

Short but enjoyable. I liked this take on House elves, and I wish there were more. The vamp was kind of tropey and forgettable but I liked Declan. All in all, a pleasant Sunday morning.

This is a sweet easy read and was perfect for me when I just needed something to take my mind off life but didn't demand all that much from me. I could just sit back relax and let this book take me away without any worry.

Declan works as a butler for the Head vampire Phoenix Moorhaven. He is famous for his householding and for always being the perfect butler for the vampire. Phoenix is always calm around Declan and trust that Declan has control over everything around him so he can do his job and rule the vampires.

But when Declan is tired of dreaming of his boss and just need some fun and needs to do something about his sexual frustration he starts dating and unfortunately didn't successfully sneak out without Phoenix knowing about it. So when Phoenix learns about Declan starting to date he takes matters into his own hands and does everything he cans to cockblock him because in Phoenix head Declan is his and nobody touches what is his. Now he just needs to tell Declan that.

Are you looking for your next book with only a little drama in to so it is still interesting but nothing heavy or crazy then this is your book.

With such an intriguing premise, how could this story go wrong? Declan is the butler of a rich vampire, the alpha of his vampire clan. Phoenix, called by Declan "Master Phoenix", ::rolls eyes:: has a thing for his obsessive, compulsive butler, but neither were willing to cross that line. So apparently each spent five years in in a state unrequited love, lust, whatever. That is until Declan, tired of his sexless life decides to go out on a blind date. Phoenix freaks and realizes that he has to make his move. So far, so good. But once the inevitable happens, the story loses shape and dramatic tension and the prose becomes a clunky in places. The rest of the story seems like, once the initial inspiration wore off, the author realized she needed more words to fill word count.

Not that the story wasn't a fun romp, or that Ms. Kell is a bad writer. She's not. I think if she works more on the mechanics of the story she can craft some more...um, satisfying pieces.

I loved this story - a delightful mix of growling possessive vampire and a young man who is confident about himself enough, not to roll over and submit just because the vampire shows him a little attention. Declan has worked for Phoenix for 2 years and is well aware of his bosses likes and dislikes - or so he thinks, but one night after his own attempt at a blind date goes wrong, he discovers he may have missed a side to his boss. His Mother though, has always warned him not to get emotionally involved with those who he works for - good advice, but not something he finds easy to do.
Things don't run smoothly - if they did there would be no story... but in the end all works out leaving the Reader with a happy warm feeling of enjoyment - thanks.

This was so yummy that once I started, I just ate it up.

First off, I could feel the electricity between Declan and Phoenix right from the start. There's such a sizzle between them. It's also the first book I've ever read, outside of Harry Potter, that's taken on the house-elf angle and it worked brilliantly.

Such an engaging, dynamic book with an original plot and some real laugh out loud, cringe worthy, cutesy moments. I couldn't have asked for more. I read it in one sitting, which might have been a mistakes, because now it's over far too soon. I could happily read more of these characters, over and over again.

Worth every penny!

First off. I want a Declan to look after my house! Second I love Declan's mum, she's something else. The mix of possessive vampire leader and self confident slightly OCD half house elf is just what I needed for a quick can't put it down read. I'm hoping Lorrie and George are next. My only problem? I wanted more!

I found this pairing while reading the author's Moon Pack series, and I think I enjoyed it much more. It was a great short read. Come on Declan is a house elf. How cool is that?

Okay so I’ve been looking for books that have a kind of boss x right hand man type trope going on, and I went on Reddit and found this book.

Immediately I was skeptical because there was no way an author could fully flesh out a character in 93 pages. I was right.

Overall, this book is like a 2.9, but I rounded down because of how incoherent it all was. It’s not inherently BAD, but like I said, it’s very difficult to fully flesh out multiple characters in 93 pages. There were also many things thrown into this book that made zero sense and were just essentially pointless things to fill in the gaps between the mild porn. Not only that but some of the writing just read like fan fiction—which I have no problem with, but if you’re going to publish a book, at least give the characters some substance.

Meh. Decent storyline, with mediocre writing (at best). It needed an editor to go through and smooth things over (not for typos, mind you; those were few and far between). With a few more edits and some tweaking, this could have been quite good. As is, I was only willing to finish it because it was short. On the plus side, it did get a bit better in the final few chapters.

Basically, this feels like a rough draft that got edited for typos and nothing else. My biggest gripe is the dialogue. There was no real distinction between any of the character voices. Pretty much everyone sounded like a modern street thug.

I know I should stop reading Amber Kell's books if they bother me, but I met this couple in the Moon Pack series and I got curious about their story, so here I am.

I didn't hate the book or anything, I actually think it's one of her best books I've read so far. But my problem with Amber is that she uses her characters' kind (vampire or shifter) as an excuse to make them so much possessive that's actually CREEPY instead of "hot" or anything.

Phoenix angry because Declan called another man handsome was the pinnacle of nonsense. I hate creepy jealousy.

If wasn't for that, I would have genuinely enjoyed the book.

Not sexy possessive, weird possessive

Possessive vampire who never makes any moves on his butler until the butler decides to find a partner, then claims/marks him but doesn’t fully explain what that means. A butler who seems to be more the boss than his employer. A weird second in command who gets a kick out of seeing how PO’d he can get the boss. Why? Rogue werewolves who betray a contract with the vampires and then nearly get themselves killed by a band of wood elves(?). Then to find out the butler is not completely human but fails to save the day and almost gets killed until his mother comes along. I feel like AK was doing too much for a short story.

This was a nice break from the Moon pack but set in the same world.I’ve been looking forward to Declan’s story after reading the preview in the back of the moon pack books and I wasn’t disappointed.

I liked both the MCs and the banter type relationship they have going on.
I really liked the idea of the house elf and how they bond to the house not the family unit. But once they leave they can curse the family. I thought that was well done.

I enjoyed the way the relationship was worked out and how we got to the end.

I wanted to like this more, because I liked Declan so much. But I couldn't do more then average. Phoenix was very cut and paste vampire and the ending was very Deus Machina in feeling. It wasn't completely out of left field, but it was fairly close.
I also got the feeling this was an earlier work, it didn't have the same tension levels as some of Ms Kell's work.

There's not much that I can say except that I found this to be a very cute and delightful little story which involves Declan (half house elf), and the vampire he works for and mates, Phoenix. This was so adorable and I really enjoyed the humor and personality that each character had. I loved the writing style and the plot was excellent.

3.5⭐️ I liked the idea of this book, i just felt it was slightly rushed and questions were left unanswered. I like the boss/butler trope and this was an interesting take on it.
