Aimee Crest is the prissiest, most stuck-up Wolf Jackson Cooper has ever met. The woman has a temper that would send sailors running and enough emotional baggage to keep a shrink in business for a lifetime. A Wolf would do well to steer clear of her. And Jackson would be happy to do just that-if it weren't for one little thing that makes her irresistible to him. She's his mate.

It's a fate Aimee didn't ask for and one she's not at all happy about. She doesn't want a mate. More to the point, she refuses to accept one. Even if that mate happens to be tall, muscular, and damn good with his hands. He won't be able to seduce his way into her heart. She won't let him.

But in this battle of wills, there is no middle ground. Somebody is going to have to surrender.

Title :        Reluctant Mate. Book 11
                 Black Hills Wolves Series
Author :           Chandra Ryan
Reviewed by   Stephanie Jordan
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
This is the first book that I have read from Ms. Ryan, won't be the last either. I was hooked from the first chapter, Ms. Ryan has a talent for writing, her characters and words all seemed to flow together to make this exceptional book.
Aimee Crest, another casualty of the Old Alpha Magnum, she came back to her Pack at Los Lobos, she didn't want to be here, even after two year she was bitter towards her Pack, but she had no where to go. They could of helped her but they wouldn't and Max her human husband died. There will be no other man in her life, she loved Max with her body, heart and soul.
Jackson Cooper moved from the city to Los Lobos to buy a garage. He was a very good mechanic making his boss a lots of money, so he wanted to make it on his own. Walking into Gee's Bar, Jackson walk smack dab into this she-wolf who refuses to look at him, now why is that, than she up to his face and he knew exactly why she didn't want to look at him, she than lifts her hand and shows him her wedding ring and start running out the door. I was gifted this ARC for an honest and truthful review.

I’ve never read anything by this author and so had no expectations. I really enjoyed this story and love the cover. Aimee Crest gave up her art for the Pack because they needed a lawyer. She fell in love with a human and when she needed the Pack they let her down. Is it any wonder why she has a bad attitude? Wolf Jackson Cooper lost his parents at a young age and was raised by humans. When they discover each other in Gee’s bar in Los Lobos neither is thrilled that the other is their destined mate. Can they get past all that and find each other? This is a quick paced story with a lot of subtext and a terrific addition to the Black Hills Wolves. It is well written and I will check into this authors other work.

Chandra's an awesome writer, I love her worlds, I love her characters, and Reluctant Mate did not disappoint. Chandra creates an incredible and vivid world in her take of the Black Hills Wolves universe - a fictional place so concrete, you feel familiar there. She has a way with words where she brings life to her characters and connects them to her readers. Jackson and Aimee, the main characters from Reluctant Mate, are real, you feel with them every step of the way in hopes they'll find their happily ever after. And after you've read the last page, her characters stay with you; you can't help but wonder what happens next. This is a great addition to a very cool world, I'm very much looking forward to reading more of Chandra's works.

I cannot believe this is the first time I'm reading Chandra Ryan. OMG - I love her style. Totally captivating.
Loved the dichotomy between Aimee and Jackson. The give and take between the attraction and the pushing away, extremely well crafted and never once did I feel like the author was using the tired and weary cliché of the tension being caused by lack of communication. Loved it.

The blurb intrigued me due to the H/h seeming to be the complete opposite of each other. We find out that while there are differences between them, they also have some commonalities. One of which is a shared destiny.

Aimee is still struggling with the loss of her husband, yes, husband, not mate. She also has some pent up anger in regards to her Pack. She feels they let her down and yeah, I can completely understand why she feels that way. First, she had always wanted to be an artist, but the Pack needed a lawyer. Since she scored highest on the necessary tests, she went on to become a lawyer. She put aside her dreams for the good of her Pack. How do they repay her for this sacrifice? By letting her husband die. He had cancer and the Pack refused to help him and she watched him literally die before her eyes. That definitely wouldn't leave you with the warm and fuzzies for anything wolf related...including her mate, Jackson.

Jackson came to town to be around other wolves. He was adopted by a human family and knows he needs to be with a Pack. He meets Aimee and knows she's his mate, however, he also sees her wedding ring. Thank goodness for that big bear, Gee, who sets Jackson straight about Aimee's marital status.

Of course, Aimee fights the mating out of fear, pain, and guilt. But she's also discovered Jackson is a good guy and they have a love of art in common. A big misunderstanding happens, that while painful for Aimee until Jackson explains the truth, is also the jumpstart that is needed to help them onto their HEA journey.

This was a beautiful story of a second chance at love for Aimee and for Jackson the sense of coming home and finding everything he ever needed. I highly recommend is book and this whole series.

I received this book as an ARC for an honest review.

In this book we meet Aimee Crest and Jackson Cooper. Aimee is a woman who has lost her first love. As a wolf her pack would not sanction a human and wolf being together and when Aimee's husband got cancer she knew this was the only way to help him. However no matter what he had done for the pack the previous alpha was a cruel man and had very ridged views on this subject. So when Aimee's husband died she figured this was it for her. Little does she know that mother nature has a mate for her and he is on his way.

When Jackson came to Los Lobos he just thought he was coming to join a pack and open a garage. Little did he know that his first night there he would find his fated mate and she would run from him. Jackson takes his mate's running as a person slight against who he is as a person not anything else. The more he learns though the more he realizes getting his fated mate is going to be one of the biggest fights of his life.

This book is a really good story about letting go and allowing yourself to love again after loosing someone special. I can see many similarities between people that I know who have lost someone and the main character Aimee. You are not sure if you are giving up on the one you loved if you find someone new, or even if they would have been happy you are moving on.

I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone. I think everyone can take something from this book. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Finding your mate is what every wolf dreams of and Jackson Cooper is no exception. Coming upon his mate by accident he is thrilled until his mate walks away with no intention of recognizing their bond. Aimee Crest senses her mate, she has already loved and lost and has no intention of giving her heart again. This was an excellent addition to the Black Hills Wolves series and even though the main characters are very different they fit perfectly. Jackson was a very strong character with a big heart, its hard to compete with the memory of a dead husband but he shows compassion instead of anger and hurt. His actions alone made him a great Alpha male and easy to fall in love with. Amiee was not as easy to like, I could understand her anger and her need to keep Max in her heart but trying to ignore her mate was not very good form. I also did not understand why she returned to the pack that she felt had betrayed her husband, that made no sense to me. The interaction between the main characters was very amusing and their banter was highly entertaining. I thought it was well written, easy to read and I will be looking to see what else this author has available for my next reading adventure.

Aimee gave up her dream and the man she loved for the pack. She became a lawyer because that's what they needed. Then when Max the man she was in love with became sick and the pack could have saved him. they turned their backs because he was human. Now it was time to retire from being a lawyer but she didn't want to let Max out of her heart. She had no intentions of giving it to anyone again. Jackson thought he would go through life and never find his mate. When he passed Aimee in the local bar one night, he knew she was his mate. he just never counted on when he found her that she would ignore it.

I loved Jackson, such a sweet caring man. He knew Aimee was his, but he had no intentions of forcing the issue. Yes he didn't want to give her up but he let her work it out on her own. Aimee had lost everything to the pack. She was afraid of opening her heart again. Wonderful story of learning to love again and opening your heart to the possibility. This is my first novel really in reading that this author has written. I so love enjoying their writing style when I start reading and find that I really like the way the write. I liked the way the humor was mixed with the spunk of the character Aimee and the different kind of humor of Jackson. I prefer when the guy has to win the heart of the woman as in this one and the reasons given in here make for even more of a faster pace in reading. In this genre I like you can not really deny when you find your mate but the dance and the spice in it are the joy of reading. Jackson was really a understanding one which was hard to do for him but that is what made him special to me. Even though her past was not stellar in the previous relationship which is told why did a happy dance when she went forward in her path. Being a romantic at heart loved the direction she takes you in this the essence of the story that when finished this is one author I was glad to have read and the bonus was it was from fast becoming one of my favorite series.

Aimee doesn't want a mate after all she had a love to last a lifetime but fate has other plans and those plans include Jackson Black Hills newest resident and mechanic. Jackson thought that he would never find his mate but when he does she rejects him. He believes she does because she is married and then because he thinks she is stuck up but of course he is wrong. This couple is fun because the continue to circle around each other until Aimee's wolf takes the decision out of her hands. This is a short story and you will feel for both Aimee and Jackson the author was able to bring out the problems of letting go of the past and embracing your feature. I also loved that Aimee didn't just give in because nature said she and Jackson belonged to each other and how Jackson refused to give up but wasn't going to force Aimee to be with him. It was great to revisit Black Hill Wolves again.

Reluctant Mate (Black Hills Wolves, #11)
by Chandra Ryan

One wants a mate and one doesn't.

Jackson thinks that fate has messed up. There is no way that the city snob could be his mate, but she is. She has no problem telling him that she just isn't interested though. To bad he isn't the type to just give up.

Aimee has already had the love of her life. He is gone and she doesn't want a mate. She doesn't want to love again. She doesn't care if fate has given her the gift of a mate and she tells him so.

Can two people, one who wants what he has never had and another who doesn't want what she is sure she already had, find a way to be together or did fate actually mess up this time?

The Black Hills Wolves just get better and better. I don't think I will ever get tired of reading about them.

Aimee is still reeling from the death of her husband. Just trying to get her life together, she is definitely not looking for a mate.

Jackson is new to town and looking to finally be part of a pack. The last thing he expected was to be turned down by his mate.......let the chase begin....

This was a dynamite read, I savored it from the beginning till the end. I haven't read this author before, but I am so glad I did. She has a talent with conveying the emotion of the characters to a tee. This story was tender but dotted with enough complications that the reader can easily become invested. The draw between these two was sexy and real, and hot enough to burn your finger tips.

Another great story about the world of the Black Hills Wolves. I love this series and this doesn't disappoint. Chandra Ryan has captured the hardship the wolves had to deal with under Drew"s father as alpha. Aimee is a widow of a human, used for the old selfish alphas gain. Aimee resents her pack for not helping her husband survive cancer. She has no desire to mate again. Well the best laid plans of wolf and human goes out the window, with the arrival of her true mate Jackson. Will he wear her down or will she reject him for good? This is a must read at 5 stars.
