Gentry is book three in The Moore Men series. This MM age gap romance story is about Gentry and Remi.
We have met both of these characters in the previous books, and I was definitely excited to get their story. Gentry is a rancher and father to Finn and Hollis. Remi is a firefighter and best friend’s with Hollis. Remi has had a crush on Gentry, and I enjoyed seeing him flirt with him and calling him Daddy Moore. It was cute how Gentry and Remi met up unexpectedly in a pottery class, and then things took off from there. There were so many obvious reasons why they shouldn’t want each other, but Gentry and Remi couldn’t fight the pull between them. They were so hot when they finally gave in.
I was a little surprised with their sexual dynamic, but the daddy kink was expected. I enjoyed the tension in the beginning, and after they were only going to have one night together, Gentry and Remi both realized it wasn’t enough. From that point on though, it felt like time skipped and they were already in a relationship, and we missed out on all the moments that would have lead up to it. I thought they would have handled things differently when it came to telling Hollis they were together. I was anticipating Hollis’s reaction and how things would play out, but it fell kind of flat for me.
Remi took on the guardianship of a thirteen year boy named Lukas, and I have to say I found it a bit odd how fast it all happened, especially since they were pretty much strangers. But if I overlooked this, it was truly wonderful what Remi did for Lukas.
The conflicts and obstacles Gentry and Remi faced seemed to work out pretty easily for them. That was nice and all, but I needed a little something more to keep me fully invested in this story. Gentry and Remi were both great men and deserved the best, and I am glad they found happiness together.

Ashley James's "Gentry" is a story with a ton of heart and a ton of taboo. It is an age-gap romance between Gentry, the MMC, and Remi, his son's best friend. Genty has always felt like he has had to hide who he really is from his family and friends. Even his adult sons don't know about his sexuality. He stays the course and keeps to a routine with his head down. He's a hard worker and doesn't deviate too terribly much from anything. Remi is a firefighter and a golden retriever of a character who has always had a crush on Gentry, despite how wrong it is. He has always called Gentry "Daddy Moore," shamelessly flirting with him even in front of Gentry's son/his own best friend. Remi recently took in a teenage boy named Lukas, who lost his father in the line of duty. Remi can relate as he lost his father when he was about the same age. Watching Remi and Lukas interact and open up to one another really worked for me. It felt authentic and realistic despite being a bit of a different scenario. That's honestly what works so well about "Gentry." There is so much power in this book's vulnerability. It made me tear up on at least two occasions. Gentry's soft interior and grumpy exterior are delicious to read about, which is offset and complemented well by Remi's overt innuendo, cinnamon roll-ness, but total devotion to a teenager whom he relates to about something unspeakable. I totally believe this couple, even though it was taboo for them to want one another. Their tenderness with one another, their eventual reveals about who they are, the emotionality... it all got to me! Add on a "single dad" trope, and you've got a recipe for a winner. I can't wait to go back and read the other books in this series!

Gentry was a grumpy rancher reluctant to love. I enjoyed watching him crumble for Remi.
I just wish that the ending didn’t feel so rushed. It went from Gentry denying their connection to instantly yes you’re mine to the end. It felt like just ticking off the boxes. I missed so much of their gentle moments outside of sex. I wanted to read more about their domestic bliss and blending their families together.
I do really love this series. I loved Remi and Gentry so much I just wanted more.

Gentry is the 3rd book in the Moore Men series. I absolutely love this MM romance series, featuring cowboys. I was immediately sucked in by this one because it is a forbidden romance between Remi and his best friend's dad, Gentry.
Gentry has been in the closet because he grew up in a different time and felt like he had to hide his sexuality. He is devoted to working hard on his ranch, but his doctor advised him to slow down and recommended taking a pottery class to help with the pain in his hands. He is embarrassed when he shows up to his first class and realizes his son's best friend Remi is the teacher. Remi has always had a crush on Gentry and offers some private classes. Gentry is confused by his attraction to Remi and their chemistry was impossible to deny as they spent more time together.
Remi just became a guardian for another firefighter's son after he passed away. He felt a connection to Lukas because he lost his dad at the same age. The relationship between Remi and Lukas was one of my favorite parts of this book. I loved how his whole family and Gentry accept him into their lives.
Gentry and Remi were so adorable together and they just worked perfectly together. I appreciated how there was no 3rd act breakup and it is just a low angst, sweet romance.

There are two sweet stories here and both are fantastic and intertwined and perfect . The first is Remi and Gentry - man Remi has been stuck on Daddy Moore. It’s all sorts of lovely - Gentry has to give in. Specially when he starts seeing him in a different light the more time they spend together one on one.
The second and one that’s really really touching is Lukas and Remi. This one made me tear up quite a bit. Made me love Remi as a character even more. It’s such a beautiful story of connection, hope, belonging, love of found family. When Remi takes 13 year old Lukas in and gives him a home my heart literally glowed.

Okay, so you already know the Moore Men series by Ashley James is one of my all-time favorite MM cowboy romance series, so I had very high expectations for Gentry… and it lived up to the hype for me- for the most part.
First of all, I am such a sucker for an age gap relationship, and Gentry and Remi just worked. Remi was so cheeky and bold with Gentry—I loved how he was constantly flirting and calling him “Daddy Moore.” It was playful, a little unhinged in the best way, and honestly just so fun to read. Their chemistry? Off the charts. And that private pottery class scene??? I’m still thinking about it. The sexual tension alone was enough to ruin me.
I also really loved how their relationship developed. Watching Gentry slowly realize he had real feelings for Remi was so satisfying. It didn’t feel rushed emotionally, and their connection felt genuine, not just physical (even though… yes, the spice was VERY good🥵). If you love a daddy kink, you are going to be very happy here.
One thing that really stood out to me was Remi and Lukas. That whole storyline was so sweet. Remi stepping up and being there for Lukas, especially knowing his own background, just made me love him even more. Taking in a teenager in your 30s is no small thing, and the way he handled it felt really heartfelt.
My only small complaint is that the last part of the book felt a little rushed. A few things—like Lukas' presence kind of fading out, Gentry’s hand issues, and Remi figuring out his future—felt like they could have been explored a bit more. But honestly? That might just be me not wanting the book to end because I love this series so much.
Overall, I had such a good time with this one. It was swoony, spicy, emotional, and just a really solid addition to a series I already adore. 4⭐️

Gentry begins to see Remi in a new light, and boy do sparks fly. These two were so hot. But they were also so sweet and vulnerable with each other… only each other, I have always loved that little side trope… only you.
Remi has made a hug life decision, I just adore how everyone around him supports him, rallies behind him, and is there just for him. Top tier found family. Gentry too… it was everything.
These two were perfect for each other, I just loved this. Beautiful book, fantastic banter, but also sweet and tender moments. Their intimacy and spice was so good.

I love that Daddy Moore got his happy ending finally. I cannot imagine how hard this was for him to keep a secret and how much of a relief it was to finally come clean. I loved Lukas and that added depth was so sweet. I did not think this would top Finns book which was my favorite before this but Gentry has surpassed this. It was so sweet and such a beautiful ending for this series. I love this family and I am so happy with how this concluded.

The push-and-pull, the internal conflict, and the moments of tenderness really stood out to me.

Review:
This was everything you’d want it to be. I’ve been excited for Remi and Gentry ever since the first time Remi called him Daddy Moore and Gentry rolled his eyes in Finn and I’m so happy they finally got their story. I really liked how Ashley forced them in proximity to each other. I loved that level of vulnerability and honesty that came with them in the private pottery lessons. Gentry feeling like he finally had a quiet space where he could let everything go, and Remi just soaking up everything about the man he’d fantasized about for years. The tension build up was positively exquisite, and that first kiss scene? So so so hot. But then we got Gentry’s POV after and realized why he ran out of there so fast and I am not kidding when I say I screamed. I also really enjoyed the single guardian layer to this story. It wasn’t something I would have anticipated for Remington from the earlier books, but I think that Lukas was a gift that Remi never would’ve seen coming. They fit so effortlessly together and by the end of the book I was sobbing at their beautiful family. Of course I loved getting to see all the other Moore Men crew and Tucker and Lukas becoming super close was so heartwarming. I loved getting to watch Gentry finally shed his fear and be open to Hollis and Finn about who he is and I loved that he cared about Remi so much that he just had to tell them about him too. Now let me tell you though, the chemistry between these two was so fucking hot. But the smutty scenes were also tender in a way I wasn’t prepared for. Overall, I really enjoyed this and I’m sad the series has ended now.
My only complaints was that it did feel a little rushed. I would’ve liked to see just a little more emotional depth in their relationship building and I would’ve loved to see a little more time with the three of Lukas, Gentry and Remi together. I was also a bit sad we didn’t get an extended epilogue just to pull all the series together and wrap it up. That’s the only reason it wasn’t a five star for me.

I did not expect this book to have me crying at 5am not once, but twice!! I never doubt that an Ashley James book will be good, but I was not prepared for how much it would affect me—which I'm not mad about at all! This book packs an emotional punch (in the best way) while still bringing the heat. I loved this.
The star of this book for me was the relationship between Remi and Lukas, which was the absolute last thing I was expecting, but it was so beautiful and touching. There could not have been a more perfect person for Lukas to have as a guardian than Remi. The way he was able to provide a safe space for him to grieve the loss of his father while also being able to relate and offer his own experience as a reference was exactly what he needed. It was so sweet to see them create a relationship and see Lukas flourish in Remi's life, especially on the ranch with all of the Moore Men. They welcomed him with open arms and it was everything!!
My other favorite part was, of course, Remi and Gentry. We've gotten little moments throughout the series (mostly Remi being a shameless flirt) so it was really fun to see it all come to fruition. The tension and the sneaking around were SO GOOD, but most of all, I enjoyed seeing them confide in each other and dig deep when it came to their feelings. I love the role Gentry played in swaying Remi's confidence when it came to Lukas and to his own career. They complemented each other really well and I loved seeing them both be loved the way they deserved.
The scene with Gentry at dinner with only Hollis and Finn—oh my god. Made me cry like a baby lmaoooo. Iykyk. Wholesome, earnest, and a heartfelt moment between the Moore Men. I loved it so much.
I wish we'd gotten another epilogue but that's me being greedy and wanting more of our boys, but overall, one of my favorite books of the series. Honestly, it's hard to rank them because they're all just solid. Highly, highly recommend and it's out now!

Rating: Loved It / Slightly Obsessed
Let me tell you...BFF’s dad (or ex's dad...basically, anyone's dad but their own) is such a top-tier trope, and when that dad is Gentry…I was done for before I even started.
Remi has carried this quiet, long-standing crush on Gentry since he was a teenager (and don’t worry, nothing happens until Remi is in his 30s and Gentry is in his 50s), and the emotional payoff of that slow shift--from teasingly calling him “daddy” just to get a rise out of him, to it meaning everything, was unreal. Watching Gentry go from resisting it to needing it? 🥵 It hit in all the right ways.
The pottery aspect was honestly so beautifully done. It gave them this soft, private space where Gentry could finally let his guard down to let someone in after hiding pieces of himself for so long. At the same time, it created that perfect forced proximity that let Remi step forward and take the lead, gently but confidently.
What really got me, though, was Gentry himself. Beneath the confidence and masculinity is someone who’s been holding so much in for so long. Seeing him be the softer, more inexperienced and vulnerable one in the relationship, letting himself be cared for, felt incredibly special. That role reversal just added so much heart to their dynamic.
And then Lucas and Remi absolutely wrecked me. There’s something so powerful about unexpected guardianship and watching a found family come together to heal a hurting child. It’s tender, it’s messy, and it feels so real. Lucas deserves the world and Remi was the perfect person to give it to him.
This book didn’t just give me a swoony romance, it kinda gave me hope. A reminder that no matter how complicated life gets, love can still find a way to show up, heal, and stay.

I knew that this book was going to be everything an I definitely was not disappointed by how good this book was. I love me a good age gap but mix it in with son’s best friend, yes please!
I absolutely loved these two and it was so natural of how these two got together. We learn so much from these two and I was here for every moment.
I was completely here for Gentry when he finally came out to his sons and told them about his relationship with Remi. That whole scene had me giggling but what had me dying was the turkey baster comment he told Remi. I just wanted Gentry to finally be free and to be able to love open heartedly to who he wanted.
From how hard he tried to push Remi away, I just knew these were going to be hot. Those spicy scenes were making me want more and more. And that first kiss between those two was what I was waiting for. Gentry tried so hard but how could you not want more?
I also loved what Gentry did for Remi when it came to his love for pottery. I was swooning. I laughed when Gentry walked in his first pottery class and saw that Remi was there. Simply priceless.
And I fell in love with Remi when he pretty much stepped up and took custody of a fallen firefighter’s son. The relationship between Lukas and Remi was so beautiful. I loved how Remi resonated himself with Lukas and was there for him in so many levels that he wished he had as a kid. I loved how everyone was there for Remi when it came to Lukas.
I laughed when Lukas asked if Gentry was going to be his stepdad. Too freaking cute. I loved the found family too because from getting to see Hollis and Finn with Gentry and Hollis and Remi’s friendship.
I cannot wait to see what is next in store for us because I only wanted more.

Gentry by Ashley James is the third and final book in The Moore Men series. Gentry is the patriarch of the Moore Family and the owner of the Moore Family Ranch in Wolf Creek, Texas. His two sons, Finn and Hollis live on ranch property, in their own homes while helping him run the family business. Gentry is a small town MM romance between a cowboy and a firefighter where a significant age gap and Gentry being his best friend’s dad won’t stop Remi from trying to make all his fantasies come to life.

Remi was exactly what I expected though his storyline outside of Gentry was incredible. I actually wish there had been more time to explore that story in more depth. This was a good final book to this series but I do have to say that I felt some chemistry lacking between Remi and Gentry. I think the angst was just a little rushed between them and with a character as gruff as Gentry, the sudden shift was a bit too jarring for me. I definitely felt that angst through Remi but it was lacking just a bit on Gentry’s side. Overall, I enjoyed both characters immensely and this continues to be one of my favorite series by Ashley.

This book had a lot of heart. Those family scenes were my favourite parts. The unconditional love Gentry and his sons had for each other, and the special bond that Remi had with Lukas was beautiful.
Hearing Gentry’s story was kind of heartbreaking. The man had hid himself from everyone and was living such a solitary life. I’m glad Remi was able to push himself into Gentry’s life romantically, otherwise he’d be lonely and possibly closeted forever. I liked how the author made it clear multiple times that Gentry had felt nothing for Remi up until recently since he’s known him from a young age.
Gentry was such a grump but he really soften up with Remi. Their deep conversations were sweet and it allowed Remi to follow his heart with his career and life choices. Gentry really believed in him and was ready to invest in what made Remi truly happy. The ending was really wholesome. I really loved the Moore men and all of their love stories.

I knew going into this that I would love Gentry. I have a weak spot for grumpy men and this definitely has grumpy/sunshine vibes. Gentry is apart of the Moore Men who run a family owned cattle ranch. He is the father of Finn and Hollis, who also have their own books in this series. He is a hard worker and set in his ways. He has done nothing but take care of his family and the ranch his whole life. When he and his wife divorced, he never let himself be who he truly was and try to find his true love. Sometimes though, you find it where you least expect it.
Remington aka Remi is a local firefighter and also happens to be Hollis's best friend. They grew up together and he was practically raised on this ranch. He always had a crush on Gentry, but of course never thought anything would come of it. He was 19 years younger and Gentry wasn't gay. Or is he? GENTRY MOORE THE MAN THAT YOU ARE!!!! Then again I shouldn't be surprised when he raised two amazing sons. This book was so sweet, feel-good, sensual, comforting, and wholesome.
Sigh, I tried so hard to savor this story; it made me fan myself, smile, cry, and giggle. Gentry had no peace when it came to dealing with Remi's shenanigans lol. Oh my lord, Remington the beautiful soul, we saw a different side to him and I loved it completely.
Him and Gentry omg chef's kiss!
Gentry might not be big on speeches but when he does!!!!!!!! That man said, "Your dreams matter." Darn it, I reread it numerous times before moving on.
There was no drama, no misunderstandings, no push and pull, just two beautiful men standing on what they wanted and went for it.
Let me not forget about the rest of the Moore men, I loved the patience, love, and understanding that Finn and Hollis gave Gentry, and big ups to Hollis for simply being a good friend and accepting Remi and Gentry's love.
This was my first best friend dad trope read and it was well-written and executed.

Sigh, I tried so hard to savor this story; it made me fan myself, smile, cry, and giggle. Gentry had no peace when it came to dealing with Remi's shenanigans lol. Oh my lord, Remington the beautiful soul, we saw a different side to him and I loved it completely.

Gentry might not be big on speeches but when he does!!!!!!!! That man said, "Your dreams matter." Darn it, I reread it numerous times before moving on.
There was no drama, no misunderstandings, no push and pull, just two beautiful men standing on what they wanted and went for it.
Let me not forget about the rest of the Moore men, I loved the patience, love, and understanding that Finn and Hollis gave Gentry, and big ups to Hollis for simply being a good friend and accepting Remi and Gentry's love.
This was my first best friend dad trope read and it was well-written and executed.

UGH. Gentry's story was so freaking bittersweet. I loved it. Read it all within one evening and then was upset with myself that I didn't savor it. I'm going to miss these characters! I didn't have any expectations going into this other than pure excitement that Gentry would finally find love. And I feel like that was definitely the best way to go about it.
Gentry and Remi's story has such a different feel than the other two in the series. It's deeper. Remi's story of becoming a guardian to a boy he relates to on so many levels and helping that boy heal was freaking perfection. Gentry's story of finally coming out after feeling he didn't need to or couldn't for the sake of his boys and the ranch, oh my heart!
These two sweet souls found and matched each other in every way they needed and I loved seeing their story unfold. I'm 100% sad that this series is over though, I loved it so much. It's gonna end up being a yearly reread.

I have been wanting Gentry’s story ever since meeting him in Finn and the fact that he ends up with Remi makes it even better. Gentry is a rancher who has put everything into the family ranch. He just loves his family so much. Remi is a blast honestly. I loved the glimpses of him we see in other books and I LOVED getting to learn more about him. He’s such a golden retriever and cares so deeply.
The storyline was not at all what I was expecting with the introduction of Lukas and all that comes with him. Remi takes him in and my heart was bursting. I loved the dynamic between Remi and Gentry and how deeply they fall for each other. Also!! The way Gentry sits his boys down and just lays it all out was amazing. I loved that they were honest pretty immediately about their relationship.
I am so sad that this series is over but I can’t wait to see what else Ashley releases in the future!!

I absolutely adored Gentry. Ashley James delivers an emotionally rich, scorching story, and since I’ve loved the rest of the series, I knew I was in for something special. 😂

I enjoyed this but not so much for the romance but for the found family. Besides a romance budding between Remi and Gentry, there is Lukas, the thirteen year old who lost his firefighter father in the line of duty. Remi eventually takes him in and I really just adored this part of the story.
I can’t say I loved the whole “daddy” thing going on, it felt off, like Remi was joking at first and it never felt authentic. The first book in this series is definitely my favorite.

Slow burn. Found family. Best friends dad. I was so excited for Remington. He’s sassy and flirty. Him as a father figure was done so well and thoughtfully. I am so happy they got their ending and gentry was able to authentically be himself.
I love the series characters that still play a role in this. I just wish the book was longer because I wasn’t ready to say goodbye!

I have been waiting for Remi and Gentry’s story and it didn’t disappoint! I’ve been following along the Moore Men series and this is at the top!
Remi’s character growth was so good and I love the introduction of Lukas into his life as well. Gentry finally living his truth has my heart so full for them!
The chemistry between Gentry and Remi was so intense from the beginning and I loved reading their story. The spice was chefs kiss so good.
