Pregnant by my Father's Enforcer: A Forbidden Dark Mafia Romance

Rate this book
I slept with my family’s enforcer.
Now I’m pregnant with his baby.

Thaddeus is off-limits.
Cold. Brutal. Untouchable.

He’s the man my father sends to break bones, spill blood, and make problems disappear.
A weapon in a tailored suit.
A monster sworn to my family’s empire.

And the last man I should ever want.

But the longer he watches me, the darker his stare becomes.
The more possessive his touch turns.

Until one reckless night shatters every rule between us.

Now there’s a baby growing inside me.
A secret that could get us both killed.

Worse, my father has already promised me to the most ruthless mafia family in the city.

But Thaddeus has never been a man who walks away from what he
wants.

Not from me.
Not from his child.
And not from the war that’s coming.

*** Pregnant by My Father’s Enforcer is a sizzling, off-limits mafia romance packed with danger, fierce protection, obsessive devotion, and explosive heat. No cheating. No cliffhangers. Guaranteed ultra-hot HEA.

I DNF'd this at the 54% mark..
I stopped reading after finishing the first paragraph in chapter 19.

First off this story had potential. But I am beginning to believe that potential is a dirty word now, in the book community.. As well as in life, too many times potential is rarely realized. That was definitely the case with this book.. But there were other things that also ruined this one for me..

~Please note that for the first time in my history of reviewing, that I am going to give spoilers in plain sight in this review.. So if you do not want spoilers, stop reading now..

Also, I am going to do something I NEVER do with a DNF review, I am going to actually rate this one 1 star.

So.. Hey Baby Jesus, here comes some sh^t.. O.o

Now, there were way too many continuum errors in this book. Glaringly obvious ones that start around the 5th and 6th chapters.. Then they get really bad once you are in the the 15th chapters and beyond... A friend who actually finished this book, told me that these major errors continue all the way to the end, and that they are never corrected or clarified.. So let me start at what was so distracting with this story..

Now chapters one and two, were phenomenal.. I got a good set up. A good feel for the story and the characters. Things are tight. Controlled and intriguing as well as intense. But at chapter 3 is when things kinda start to fall apart..

I noticed this first continuum error but I just chose to see it as she has been there for 2 days and not 24 hrs.. Since the stuff that had been happening suggested that she was there for 48 hrs and not 24.. When we get info that another day has passed, but then all of a sudden it's back to just being the same night?? So I ignored this one.. No biggie, right? It sort of annoyed me, but I was able to overlook it.. The author and their editor/ Beta Readers should have caught that for sure though, before the book was released. But moving on..

Then at the 50% mark, I come across the 2nd and 3rd continuum errors here for chaps 16 & 17.. Chap 17- when Freya walks into the engagement party dinner, she's supposedly wearing the white dress that her father had the dress people come to their house and touch up on, the day before..

When she walks into the dinner it says she's wearing a white dress, with the blood red broach of the Russo's colors pinned to her chest, which I assume is a version of her actual wedding dress, just without all the beading, cause it doesn't make sense that she'd be wearing her actual wedding dress at the engagement dinner announcement..

But when she is sitting at the dinner table looking up at Thaddeus, it says she's wearing blood red silk dress?? WTF?! DC BEKS! Get it together! Ugh!

Also, when she was having her final wedding dress fitting in her room the day before the engagement dinner, and she's thinking to herself, how does she know what Thaddeus is planning to do? She's thinking to herself of what Thaddeus plans to do to her future husband. But she's doing it in a way that suggests she has inside knowledge of his actual plans, when up until this point, she doesn't know anything because he has not told her.. So how could she be having these specific thoughts about what Thaddeus is gonna do?? This is at the very beginning of chap 16.. So another plot/continuum error..

Either way when we learn at the end of chap 16, what Thaddeus has planned for the engagement dinner and how he plans to execute it, I was so excited to see this unfold.. But wait.. it gets worse..

Pull up to the 54% mark now, and look at this mess..
I just finished chap 18 at this point.. I'm pissed! Ok.. All of this damn inner monologue repetition is getting on my phucking nerves! They are both now, saying the same things in their minds on repeat.. When they NEED to be actually speaking to each other.. Lord knows they've been alone plenty of times now to talk to each other..

And if they both say I know his/her baseline one more damn time I am going to phucking SCREAM!!! Get a phucking Thesaurus please!!

Also, the last 5 mins of chap 17 was another continuum error! WTF?! I thought that she was already at the damn engagement party? That's where she entered when chap 17 began! It was already Friday the next day! How is it that Thaddeus didn't execute his plan??!

Thaddeus says what stopped him from killing everyone, was the photo that Vincenzo insisted on taking with Freya at the dinner table after his toast, that stopped him from doing it.. But he says, it was the photo that took place at the engagement party 24 hrs ago, LAST NIGHT, that stopped him from killing anyone then. But we're still at the damn party in real time!

Then in the next damn sentence, they're still at the engagement party, he's about to kill the lights and kill everyone and take Freya. He was heading to the service stairs to begin to execute his plan but that ends the chapter and nothing happens!

Then, chap 18 begins the next morning, Saturday, the day of the wedding at 8am and Freya is throwing up in the bathroom before getting ready for her wedding?!!! Again, WTF?! How come ain't nobody dead?!

At this point I am so confused and so pissed off that I am confused, cause this author has totally phucked up their own damn story.. Where the hell were the editors? ARC or Beta Readers?? No One caught this sh^t before publication? Including the author?! It's making my brain shift and hurt trying to figure out where the hell I am in this story and what the hell the phucking characters are doing in it!.

And now there's a new plan? Since phucking when?! He's gonna do it at the wedding at the alter, after he just said in chap 17 he had to take them out now at the engagement party because escape during the daylight on the wedding day is a zero % chance of success with their escape..

Make it make sense! UGH!!! So now I am not even wanting to begin chap 19 at this point. What the hell else is gonna be jacked up in this sh^t show at the Trap house?!

I make up my mind to try finish the book, but once I start chap 19 after getting through the 1st paragraph, I decided NOPE.. Not gonna happen. I kicked the dust off my sandals and I'm keeping it moving..

Bottom Line: This author has way too many books out now, to be this lazy in their story telling.. I don't see how people can truly enjoy a book or give it a high rating, when it has these types of quality issues that directly affect the overall story.. A typo here and there doesn't bother me. Tons of typos or plot/scene continuum errors that directly correlate to the actions of the characters, and the plot outcome of the story? That sh^t pisses me off to no end.. Especially when the book would have been stellar otherwise..

So I can never in good faith still give a book a very high rating knowing the book has these types of issues.. I have come to the conclusion that these folks who are liking it, are ARC readers as well, refuse to just tell the author that they need to correct these mistakes.. Then you have authors who don't have editors or Beta readers and they barely edit their own work, and then just release it to the public and expect you to pay for the BS...

So, I do not feel bad about telling folks the truth if I finish a book like this or even if I write a DNF review.. Cause respect your readers enough, respect yourself enough, to at least put out something that makes sense and is written well on the technical aspects..

This is part of why reading and writing comprehension has taken a serious decline in the book world in the US.. Folks are losing their standards on what to expect from these authors..

At the time of this DNF review this book was on KU or $2.99 to purchase.

Would I recommend?=Hell No.
Spice?=4 (the one time I saw them go there in chap 9.)
MC's?= Scales are unbalanced (Thaddeus I loved, Freya I liked)
Plot/Plight?=Hell I don't know.. I'm confused.
Ending/Epilogue?=Never made it there. Stopped reading in chap 19

I will say there are some real detail errors in this book which should have been caught. But still a great story. I loved this book. It’s gritty, gripping, thrilling, dangerous, emotional, full of suspense and danger. It shows just what a man is willing to do to save the only woman he’s ever loved and fight for a legacy he never dreamed he’d ever have.
Frey’s a 21 yo virgin mafia princess has been so subjugated by her domineering father shes afraid to breathe. Thaddeus is a 32 yo street orphan who her father took in and made his ultimate killing machine. He’s Freyas bodyguard anf her brothers friend but secretly he has eyes for her. After she sneaks out and is nearly taken Thad rescues her and takes her to a safe house. There they give in to the storm between them and he takes her virginity then next day says it was a mistake. She agrees and goes back to an ice princess until her father decides to sell her in marriage to a rival. That unleashes all heck because Thaddeus isn’t going to let another man gave his woman but plans to save her keep getting messed up. It will take everything Thad has inside to rescue Freya and stop the war that will happen when he does. And freya is done being a pawn in her father’s games.
Outstandingly written, fabulous detailed characters that feel ultra real and believable. A story that keeps u on the edge of your seat.
My only complaint was the ending. It lacked some details needed to really complete everything and leave the reader satisfied.

This was my first book by this author. By the end of chapter 1 I was hooked and couldn't wait for more of Freya and Thaddeus. By chapter 6 I was a little confused and slightly frustrated. There is so much to like about this couple, individually and as a couple. There is so much to like about this book in general. It's obvious this author has talent. I did a quick check she has at least 16 books. Which brings me to my issues with this book and a 2 star rating. Time continuum. It's important. There were several issues with this, big and small. Also when the reader is told major things with the plot and flow of the story are going happen and they don't and your thrown into something else happening with no explanation, it's frustrating. It makes it very difficult to 'stay' in the story. I know these things are a issue for me so maybe I'm being harsh. But, it seems that by the time you've written 16 books you'd have a better handle on these issues or at least have better editors. This book could have been amazing, a solid 5 stars. The two MC and the premise of this book were worthy of that. Ms Beks, has the talent for that.
If the things I mentioned don't bother you then I would recommend this author and this book. At the time of this post this book was available on KU

Theirs was a relationship that should not have occurred. He is her father's enforcer the one they sent to make problems disappear, but when stares become more than just passings tension breaks and the dam of feelings erupts into a passion that can't be denied. Consequences occurs and families fall. This action-packed story had me connecting with Thaddeus and Freya as their tumultuous journey unfolds on the pages of this thrilling book.

I liked the characters, the silence between them was a really good concept... it drew in the reader to read between the lines to work out the background story and the hidden secrets.

Freya was always strong but definitely came into her own after her time with her 'monster'.

I enjoyed this book, the under story moral is never underestimate a woman by thinking that she's not listening to everyone even though she might not react...

thank you

I've read 31% of this book, but I can't finish it. There's just too many inconsistencies with timelines, etc., that it keeps taking me out of the story from the confusion.
The premise of the story was promising-I just wish it had lived up to the promise.

Wow Love Love

Never underestimate the quiet ones even if they are a lil feisty.... And then there is the one who always knows what is going on and has a keen sense like a hawk... Definitely keeps you on your toes and what a surprise it is...
