Milking with the Minotaur

Can a human woman and a hunky minotaur meet the demands of a hungry demigod? Or will they cow under the pressure?

Betsy should have known better than to fall for the King of the Gods. But hey, we’ve all made stupid decisions in our twenties.

But in her case, there were consequences. Demigod-sized consequences.

You’d think Zeus would be interested in getting to know his minotaur son. But sadly, Betsy is abandoned to figure out single motherhood on her own… which is a problem when her baby needs more nourishment than she can provide.

When a mysterious goddess offers her a solution, she hastily agrees—not realizing it will deliver her straight into the arms of a monster.

If Felix has said it once, he’s said it a hundred times: Never trust the gods.

They’re the reason he was exiled to the corn fields of rural Minnesota all those years ago. He fell in love with the wrong goddess, and BAM. Sentenced to eternal solitude.

That is, until they issued him a new punishment: shack up with Zeus’s ex-girlfriend, and help her raise their son.

She’s nothing like he expected—and that’s exactly why he can’t let himself get too close. Except, her baby needs milk. And there’s only one way to increase her supply…

Welppp.. I think I’ve officially been out-freaked by an author 😂 This book was absolute INSANITY in terms of spice and plot.

Our FMC gets knocked up by Zeus and ends up having a Minotaur baby. Her body isn’t equipped to care for a Minotaur baby and she needs.. fluids.. from a grown man Minotaur in order to be able to produce enough milk for her baby (you probably see where this is going). Long story short, she ends up being sent to THE original Minotaur, the one with the labyrinth who was killed by Theseus, who now lives in RURAL MINNESOTA. I mean, I’m laughing just writing this.

So our Minotaur MMC hasn’t been with a woman in like 3,000 years, and our FMC has a lot of trauma from growing up in the foster system. I thought the book actually had some really nice emotional moments in between the freak, and our FMC really develops as a character throughout the story. There were some scenes where the FMC felt really empowered in her body, motherhood, etc., and it was quite moving actually. There is a bit of a miscommunication trope here, which I didn’t enjoy very much, but it worked with the story of our MCs dealing with their traumas together.

Anyway, not to spoil anything, but there’s a lot of mutual milking going on. Also, this bordered on being a little too bestiality for me lol (we really played up the cow-ness here), but I mean I guess it IS a half-cow romance.

One question that I’m dying to have answered:

4 / 5 ⭐

This was actually so much cuter than I thought it was going to be!
Not gonna lie, given the title I was half-expecting pure minotaur smut, but I found Milking with the Minotaur to be so wholesome and full of heart!

I loved all the allusions to the Greek Gods and Goddesses, loose ties to the myths, and the overall cute and funny interactions between them! But more importantly, I really enjoyed Betsy and Felix's budding relationship.

Betsy, our FMC, was fucked over by Zeus. I felt for her, but I didn't find her to be too realistic or relatable. Though that didn't really bother me because this entire book was fantastical and whimsical! I thought she was strong, and her challenges with new motherhood, let alone minotaur motherhood were so heartbreaking.

I loved Felix! He was so sweet, and so respectful of all of Betsy's boundaries. We love love LOVE a consent king!! I think that was my overall favorite part of his character.

I'm very excited to see what else Cassandra Medcalf has in store for this universe, if she has anything else in store! I'm beyond intrigued and cannot wait to dive back in!

🐮 Milking with the Minotaur 🐮

Oh wow… this one was SPICY 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I’m no stranger to spicy monster romance, but this one really took the cake. It definitely hot, but it was also surprisingly sweet and tender in places.

Felix comes off super grumpy at first, but he’s actually a full cinnamon roll underneath it all, which I loved. And baby Apollo?? So stinking adorable. I was fully invested in them as a little found family.

I could have done without the potty training portion of the book though… that part just wasn’t for me.

If you read and enjoyed Morning Glory Milking Farm, you’ll probably have a great time with this one. And the audiobook was really well done too. I need more Duet Narrations in general but especially in monster romances.

🐄 What to Expect
• Minotaur MMC
• Single mom FMC
• Demigod baby
• Forced proximity
• Mythology elements
• Rural farm
• Monster romance

Milking with the Minotaur delivers exactly what you want from a monster romance. It’s cosy, low-stakes, and packed with just the right amount of fiery… or should I say creamy spice 🐄🔥

Both MCs come with their own traumatic pasts, which adds a layer of depth you don’t always get in this genre. It makes you properly root for Betsy and Felix and their well-earned happy ending.

The blend of Greek mythology with monster romance was such a refreshing twist. It stood out from the usual 'monsters in the modern world' setting and gave the story a richer, more unique flavour.🥛

I loved the curvy FMC representation and being a confident, sexually liberated Mama.

If you’re a fan of hucow tropes or have a soft spot for minotaur romances, this one deserves a spot on your TBR.

It leans fully into its niche while still keeping things heartfelt, engaging and super fun.

I’ll admit, the ending threw me off slightly, but not enough to sour the experience. 🐄

Overall, I had a genuinely great time with this and would happily graze my way through more from this author in the future.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for the opportunity to read this ARC.

The plot to this book is…interesting. A woman has a wild night with a man and gets knocked up. When she’s about 6 months pregnant, he leaves her. Come to find out that man was Zeus. Yes, the Olympic god Zeus. So she births a Minotaur baby and in order to feed this Minotaur baby (cause apparently her body can’t produce enough milk for him) she needs to have special relations with a Minotaur for his seed. So she’s sent away to a farm in the middle of nowhere where a Minotaur is living out life in exile for a crime he committed and he is tasked with….this task. He refuses at first and it takes some convincing but eventually the two grow fond of each other and enjoy their spicy time so she can feed her baby. But what happens when more women Zeus knocked up show up? I wasn’t fond of the ending of this book. I would have preferred a different solution. But I guess it wasn’t bad. This book was just kind of interesting lol

Thank you to netgalley, Cassandra Medcalf and Love Outloud Press for the ARC in exchange for an honest review! This is only my second time ever reading a monster romance and it is done fantastically. Reading from both Felix and Betsy's point of views was amazing to see the duality of love. I was very impressed on how the greek mythology was done and tied to the overarching plot of the book. I loved that not all demigods are the same and she demonstrated that beautifully. I was very impressed how she tied the title of the book into the storyline and how it played a big part in the plot.

thank you for joining me for “this book was free” - the sequel. i acquired Milking With The Minotaur for free as a perk for signing up for the author’s newsletter here (https://dl.bookfunnel.com/3t9dpxwzcw).
when we meet our girl Betsy, she’s about ready to pop. she’s been incubating the spawn of Zeus (that’s right, the Zeus) for the last 9ish months after a chance encounter in a line for the porta-potties at Lollapalooza (bc this book is set in the 90s if it wasn’t weird enough already). so Zeus and Betsy have a bit of a kinky fling that ends when she becomes so swole with child that she can’t kink hard enough for the big man anymore.
but that’s not all, Betsy’s not growing just any usual demigod bebe, she’s about to birth an honest-to-godsness minotaur bebe. and without Zeus’ magic spunk she can’t provide what the sweet bebe needs. his appetite is too much for her mortal milk supply.
don’t worry, Hera and Iris (goddess of rainbows of all things) have a plan. they send sweet Betsy to a farm in the middle of bumfuck nowhere to hangout with a big minotaur named Felix. cause Felix’s seed is the solution to all Miss Betsy’s problems. except Felix straight up refuses to fuck Betsy and provide her with his special juice bc he’s got baggage.
anywhhhhhays, one thing leads to another, our darling “couple” explores what comes to be known as the “blowjob loophole” (for serious) but eventually they succumb to their mutual desire to fuck. and bingo-bango, prob solved. Betsy’s tits get so big and swole with milk that her supply exceeds what little Apollo (her minotaur bebe) needs. i have to say, i really appreciated the use of language regarding Betsy’s body - she’s a big, curvy girl and Felix adores every inch and ounce of her voluptuous self. and there is a significant emphasis on consent. Felix is a consent king, and we love a consent king!
and then for a while our little crew lives happily on the farm. farming and woodworking and growing (bebe Apollo) and fucking (Betsy & Felix). one little happy family. sort of. Felix does a lot of “you can’t stay once the bebe is weaned”, “i don’t want to limit your potential for a real life”. and poor Betsy, who’s never had a real family is like “oh! so you hate me, is what i’m hearing”. they miscommunicate and reconcile and miscommunicate and reconcile. and they fuck on special apparati (i know this is not the plural of apparatus but i think its funny) that Felix built for fucking and for milking Betsy’s udders (a thing our man actually says, blech). i say blech but the spice sexy smut was actually really hot.
and then i just don’t know what to say. things were going so well until… they weren’t. i was totally onboard and loving this and then… anger, rage, fury.
rainbow goddess Iris shows up and is like, “ahhhh, you’re happy. let me blow this shit all to hell!” we’re getting lore drops left and right like they’re going out of style. so, Felix’s big hangup and the reason that he’s been exiled to this farm is that he killed Hephaestus’ daughter Celedonia by getting her pregnant with his love child and her body just couldn’t take it and she didn’t survive childbirth. sort of. bc it turns out that Celedonia wasn’t a goddess or a demigod or even a mortal, she’s an automaton - a mother (or should i say minotaur) fucking robot! a robot that was not made to support birthing a baby minotaur? idk, i’m just as confused as you are, dw. and then after Iris drops this delightful info-nugget in Betsy’s lap, she’s like - this little experiment with you and Felix and bebe Apollo has gone so well that Hera wants to turn the farm into a home for the discarded pregnant fuckbuddies of Zeus and Poseidon. huh? and Betsy’s all like “i don’t share, so i’m leaving” but she also seems super jealous that Zeus has knocked up a bunch (literally six, apparently) of other mortal women in the couple of months since they “broke up”.
and then, honestly i kinda blocked out what happened in the last chapter(s) bc i was recovering from the automaton surprise but it would seem that Betsy and Felix confess their love for each other and reconcile and i think bebe Apollo learns to walk and then calls Felix “dada”. and they all live happily ever after.
what follows, cause it’s not over yet are several epilogues (regular-flavour and bonus) where we meet the other demigod moms whose bodies are sustained not by Felix’s milk but Betsy’s (cause like i said before Betsy doesn’t share) and Betsy births another bebe minotaur - this time fathered by Felix. and after like, idk, i think like a year and a bit, bebe Apollo is now like 6 feet tall cause minotaurs grow and age weird. and they’re all going to live happily ever after, the end.
pour out a glass of ice cold cow juice for my girl Daisy the dairy cow who has to hang out in Betsy and Felix’s fucking barn (ie. the barn where they fuck) and never gets any action for herself.

Ohhh I loved this one, a lot more than I expected! I expected to laugh... I ended up being quite turned on! The found family feeling is so nice. The spice is... It goes far, and for sure, it's not for everyone, but holy crap if you have an interest in hucow, or have ever felt like your body wasn't yours because you were breastfeeding, this book will melt you. The audiobook narration is a masterpiece! I read it in one day, could not stop.

It’s so heteronormative that we have to fundamentally change the Greek gods. Because now Zeus is hetero, of course. And apparently he listens to his partners when they don’t want to smash animals or do a kink. Yeah, right. And Hera helping the mother of one of Zeus’s spawn (scratch that, it was more than ten of them), right. With the help of Athena, nonetheless. Tell me you know nothing of Greek mythology without telling me you know nothing of Greek mythology.
Betsy was such a pick me, very desperate for MALE affection. She says, multiple times, that the only reason Zeus stayed with her was because, essentially, she never said no. And she never said no because she knew the second she did he would be out of the relationship. And of course she was better than any other woman Zeus had been with because of that. This is somehow presented in the book as Betsy being “sex positive”, and therefore a good thing. Looks more like an abusive relationship where the guy was emotionally manipulating her into doing things she didn’t want to do and gaslighting her into thinking she actually wanted them. She also tries to offer her body to Felix multiple times as “payment” (yes, she calls it that more than once), and seemed to only value herself in terms of how many kinks she could perform for a man. And there are the shitty thoughts, like comparing potty training her child with training a dog, talking about her nipples as if they were sentient, and making comparisons between Felix performing a hucow scene with her (which lasts two whole chapters, for fucks sake) and her son’s nursing, wondering why they feel different (I kid you not).
With things as they are in the US, this book feels like it’s pushing the ultra-conservative agenda. Every woman must have at least one child, even the gods don’t want her to have an abortion (it never even crosses her mind, in fact), another character died because nobody thought to give the mother an abortion even though the pregnancy was killing her (this thing needs way more TW than it gets), nor did they consider abortions for the thirteen other women the gods knocked up. Literally it never crosses anyone’s minds, even when they KNEW the pregnancies were potentially lethal to the mothers. Better to force them to have sex with a stranger if they want to survive. And it doesn’t matter how much she has to humiliate herself, SHE has to take care of the kid (Felix helps a bit, but the majority of the childcare goes to the women). And lets isolate her during the postpartum period, why not, it’s not like women need their friends or loved ones near during this time, let’s shove her at a stranger and demand they have sex, because, hey, it’s totally OK to fuck right after giving birth. He’s a man, after all, and all she needs is a man, right?
And that ending. It was the most misogynistic scenario I’ve ever read. All the women are barefoot and pregnant, or nursing; of course women do the cooking, cleaning and sewing, as well as childcare and education, because we don’t need no woman doing farmwork, or, gods forbid, anything related to managing the farm, or building furniture. It wasn’t good. I won’t read anything else from this author.

Felix and Betsy have both had very difficult lives that have led them to believe that a happy, permanent family is not in their future. So when they're thrust together via whims of the deities, they're reticent to do what they need to with each other. Our FMC Betsy is the one who initiates most everything with Felix, both out of necessity, and because he's extremely wary of the potential ramifications for her becoming involved with him in any way. Through the entire book we see how extremely thoughtful, caring, kind, and respectful Felix is, and how strong and capable Betsy is, and watching them become attached to each other, slowly finding ways to spend more of their days together, doing small things to make the other happy, is such a pleasure. The majority of the book is really wonderful thanks to their dynamic and chemistry.

The main problem I had with this book other than all the miscommunication (some is fine, this was a bit too much imo) was the entirety of the last few chapters. Everything felt like it wrapped up much too quickly, especially after how gradually the relationship unfolded up to that point, making it feel disconnected from the rest of the book. Info dumping I would guess is never anyone's favorite, and there was some weird unnecessary drama/conflict that ended up changing the entire dynamic of the story and honestly made me not want to pick the book back up to finish it. Not to mention, there are TWO epilogues that I not only cared absolutely zero about, but actually probably traumatized me and managed to ruin the good experience I'd had reading for the majority of the book. I've never enjoyed reading something so much to have it so thoroughly ruined for the end, and I'm aware a portion of this may be due to some personal biases and icks of mine, but objectively this ending is just not good for Felix and Betsy's story up until that point. It feels to me like two different ideas for the same initial plot that veered off into very different directions but got smashed together anyway just so they don't go to waste, but in the process of not weaving them together well and making such an abrupt change, it muddies up the whole thing. Very very disappointing.

4.5 stars or so for the majority of the book, 1 at most for the last few chapters. I mean I REALLY hated them.

I received an advance listening copy of Milking With The Minotaur by Cassandra Medcalf through NetGalley, and I had such a good time with this one.
I went in knowing it would be spicy, but I was not prepared for just how hot it would be. This absolutely delivers on the steam, but what really worked for me is that it never felt like it was relying on the premise alone. There is actual emotional buildup here, and the connection between the characters makes all the spicy moments hit that much harder.
And the audio? So good. Dual narration always makes a difference for me, and both narrators were amazing, but Cassandra Medcalf narrating her own work was a standout. You can tell she knows exactly how these scenes are supposed to feel. The pacing, the tone, the tension, it all lands perfectly and makes the whole experience even more immersive.
Also, this book just knows what it is and leans all the way in. It is a little wild, a little outrageous, and completely confident about it, which made it really fun to listen to. I found myself smiling more than once at how committed it was while still giving us genuine chemistry and some surprisingly soft moments.
This will not be for everyone, but if you are even a little curious about unconventional monster romance with strong narration, emotional beats, and seriously steamy moments, it is absolutely worth picking up.
Hot, weird in the best way, and surprisingly heartfelt.

This was a really fun story! I like this take on the mythological figures we all know and it felt pretty true to how they would behave in today's world. I thought Betsy and Felix's relationship felt earned and while being super spicy, was also really sweet despite the entire reason for them being together at first. No spoilers but I did really like how it ended and I'd love to see more stories in this world. I don't always enjoy when authors narrate their own books but both narrators were very good in this case.

Ahahahaha I loved it, there's really not much else to say. It had Greek mythology, single parents, strangers to lovers, forced proximity, just everything I could ever love in a book. The spicy was so delicious, the plot was great, I loved all the Greek myth references. Just loved it. I will definitely be looking more into this author!

Loved this book. It is a great hucow 🐮 type read. But with a human and a very big Minotaur.
Betsy is knocked up by Zeus and after delivering his demigod baby with the help of Hera mind you, she now needs help from a Minotaur 🐂 . Not just any help though, cause her little baby Apollo is a Minotaur too. Love how the gods children can be anything. Which isn’t like a normal baby at all. Feeding and growth being a big one for this plot. She doesn’t produce enough milk 🥛 to feed her baby demigod. The only way to get her supply up is with the help from Felix and his milk 💦.
Felix has very big reserves about helping her cause it isn’t just a simple process to help. He will need to overcome some major past trauma to accomplish this.
They have a wicked start to their new roommate situation until things just click with them. They both start to realize they mean more to each other as they spend their days together.
Their method is very very spicy 🌶️. The best possible method for an increase of milk production. But even with this take on the gods I will would drop kick them all for their hand on the scales. ⚖️

So….this was…interesting. I’ve read so many monster and/or paranormal romances and am honestly a little shocked that this is the book that tested my boundaries.

The FMC Betsy, and MMC Felix, are both super cuties and have great chemistry. But the concept of this book is wild. The FMC, a human, gets knocked up by Zeus at Lollapolooza, nearly dies during child birth and Hera comes to intervene and save her. She then births a half Minotaur baby (apparently demi gods are half Minotaur—what?!), she struggles to feed the baby, and is all but forced the move in with another random Minotaur man on his farm, who is bound in purgatory by the gods, so she can consume his *seed* (in any way) to sustain her body and increase her milk supply so she can feed her baby….WHAT. Of course they start to fall in love, which is cute. But then the spicy time gets a little too dairy cow themed for me. (Let your imagination run wild with that one—you’re really not gonna guess what happens).

Anyway…right after they really start to fall in love and have their dairy cow related fun, Hera’s assistant shows up and says that Hera is going to drop off a bunch more women that Zeus knocked up with half Minotaur babies so they can also consume the MMC’s seed. WHAT WHAT. He obvs doesn’t want to do this, but also doesn’t a choice, because of purgatory, remember? Living on this farm, exiled from society is his punishment…If you’re wondering why he’s being punished….he was charged with killing Hephaestus’s daughter, Celladonia, because they’d fallen in love, she’d gotten pregnant, her body rejected his seed, and she died. And the kicker? Calladonia couldn’t handle the pregnancy because she was an undercover ROBOT. A ROBOT!!!!!!!!! And Felix never knew! He thought he killed her, was imprisoned for a century, and now lives in purgatory. WHAT WHAT WHAT. Goodness gracious.

Right after the truth is revealed about Celladonia, the FMC and MMC declare their love for one another, the weird little half Minotaur baby that they’ve been raising takes his first steps, calls Felix “dada”, and then they agree to help they other women that’s Zeus knocked up. Lots of milk is involved with that part….. blah blah blah, a couple things are wrapped up, and then they all live happily ever after.

Anyway. I’ve read some weird stuff, and for whatever reason, this is what has given me the ‘ick’. I’m positive others are going to love it, though. So 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️.

Big thanks to NetGalley for the Arc! The audiobook was INCREDIBLY WELL performed!!

I requested this audiobook on seeing that it was duet narrated without really looking at the description so I didn’t 100% realise what I was letting myself in for 😂 and that’s on me (although I have read a monster romance or two in my time!)

Betsy had a whirlwind affair with the Greek God, Zeus, which leads to her giving birth to a Demi-God, Minotaur baby. Left high and dry by Zeus, Betsy is also faced with the unexpected challenge of being unable to sufficiently nourish baby Apollo. A mysterious goddess offers her a solution, which she eagerly accepts, and soon Betsy finds herself moving across the country to live with Felix (also a Demi-God Minotaur), who was exiled to a farm in Minnesota many years ago for falling in love with the wrong goddess.

It’s definitely absurd (the reveal at the end relating to Felix’s banishment was crazy 🤪) and not one to think too hard about (like why they can make certain magical changes to Betsy yet can’t make her supply sufficient milk for her Minotaur baby 🙈). And I would say it’s the type of book to read/listen to if you’re after a spicy, light hearted monster romance but it doesn’t have much depth beyond that (there are little pockets relating to Betsy’s backstory and insecurities but it’s all fairly surface level). For me, it also felt very lust at first sight. I personally prefer a slower burn and, probably for that reason, I wasn’t sold on their chemistry and it’s hard to be invested in a romance if you don’t feel the chemistry (although I will say that Felix was very sweet).

Because I didn’t care about the romance and there was little else to the story, I have to say that I didn’t particularly enjoy my time with this one. Also, there’s a moment where Betsy mentions that she’s not good at most things but she is good for sex - I think it’s said in a way that’s meant to be sex-positive but I still didn’t love her own insinuation that sex is the only thing she’s good at/for.

I will say that the audibook was great. Duet narrated by the author (which is cool!) and Jake Calihan.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ALC of this book.

Review of advance copy received from Netgalley
March 20, 2026
This is one of those books people are either going to love or dislike — there’s not much middle ground. It’s bold, strange, kink‑leaning, and fully committed to its monster‑romance lane. Before diving in, definitely check the trigger warnings, because this story deals with abandonment, pregnancy trauma, and themes that fall squarely under kink (including milking and cow‑adjacent elements).

The premise is wild... a human woman abandoned while pregnant with a Minotaur baby, unable to produce enough milk, and sent to a secluded farm where an exiled Minotaur becomes her only hope. But underneath the chaos is a story about survival, loneliness, and two broken souls finding something steady in each other. I’ve read Cassandra Metcalf before and generally enjoy her writing, so this worked for me. There’s a lot happening, and while I caught the twist early, it didn’t take away from the experience.

I didn’t love the ending; it felt a bit rushed. But the epilogues helped smooth that out and gave me the closure I needed.

I listened to the audiobook, and the duet narration by Cassandra Metcalf as Betsy and Jack Calihan as Felix really brings the story to life. Cassandra knows exactly how she wants her characters to sound, and Jack is consistently strong in everything he narrates. Even if the story itself isn’t someone’s thing, the audio makes it engaging.

Felix is such a green flag, Betsy is carrying deep trauma, and honestly, so is Felix. They’re two damaged people who meet at the right moment, and that emotional thread is what kept me invested.

If you’re new to monster romance, this might not resonate with you. But if you already enjoy Minotaurs, monsters, or myth‑tinged romance, this is absolutely in your lane. It’s messy, emotional, spicy, and surprisingly heartfelt — and overall, a solid listen for me.

I really liked this book! There is romance, spice, kink, and personal growth all wrapped into 1 book. It honestly blows my mind.

The heartbreak these two have runs deep and it takes meeting each other for them to push past their own trauma and help each other along the way (obviously sex play a big role in that.) The love these two have for each other is heartbreakingly innocent while they get up some NSFW fun.

Cassandra also gives a huge recognition to mamas and the struggles they sometimes (mostly all) have. And the way Felix gives Betsy back the control of her own body and allows and encourages her to focus on herself is *chef’s kiss.

CONTENT WARNINGS
Graphic: Sexual content, Gaslighting, Abandonment
Minor: Medical trauma, Pregnancy

This is a monster romance, as in the male is not human while they have sex.
The babies are not human.
Betsy almost dies in childbirth.
There is adult breast feeding/ human milking/ hucow references.
She consumes her own breast milk.

Zeus obviously is a man whore who knocks up multiple women (he never changes his ways)
Hera is a manipulative goddess who never has to answer for the consequences of her scheming.
Iris is just as manipulative and even gaslights Felix and Betsy in Hera’s name, she also never has to apologize or answer for her behavior.

I received an ALC for review from NetGalley!

Okay, hear me out! Don’t judge a book by its cover! I requested this title fully expecting pure Minotaur smut and although of course there’s smut involved, the story line was honestly great! I loved that this incorporated Greek mythology which is a topic I personally find fascinating! It made this book far more realistic given that it involves literal Gods and Demigods. As a postpartum mom to a 3 month old baby I found myself relating to FMC Betsy on her breastfeeding journey or lack there of in the beginning of the book. That’s something I did not expect whatsoever but truly appreciated! There was a great amount of yearning and refusal to give into their attraction for each other which is what made this a 4 star read for me. I know some readers enjoy the back and forth of denying mutual attraction, I personally don’t care for it too much. MMC Felix is such a gentle Minotaur convinced he’s undeserving of pleasure and constantly holds himself back. That being said, it was still a great and loving read and the author created a really unique and fun story that I would recommend to anyone that’s open to reading Minotaur spice!

This audiobook has also made me realize I love a duet production! It made the characters emotions truly come to life and made the overall experience more enjoyable. As an audiobook consumer, I wish all audiobooks were produced like this!

Thank you NetGalley, Cassandra Medcalf, and Love Out Loud Press for the privilege of receiving this ALC! It was an absolute treat!

Thank you to NetGalley and Cassandra Medcalf for the ARC of this audiobook!

This was my first time dipping my toe into a Minotaur romance, and wow… it was definitely an eye-opening experience.

*Milking with the Minotaur* by Cassandra Medcalf follows Betsy, our FMC, who has a brief fling with Zeus (yes, *that* Zeus) and ends up pregnant with his Minotaur demigod child. Completely unprepared, she’s whisked away to a remote farm in the middle of nowhere Minnesota. There, she learns that the only way her body can handle carrying a Minotaur baby is with… Minotaur essence.

Enter Felix, our MMC. He’s been living in exile for thousands of years and is reluctantly tasked with helping Betsy. Despite his hesitation, Felix absolutely stole the show for me—he’s wholesome, patient, caring, and just an all-around wonderful love interest.

Yes, it’s a Minotaur romance… but it’s also genuinely fun, well-written, and full of witty banter that kept me smiling throughout. The author strikes a great balance, making this a surprisingly approachable entry point into monster romance. (Also, I may have learned a few new terms—*hucow*, anyone?)

And the audiobook? Incredible. Cassandra Medcalf and Jack Calihan complement each other perfectly, bringing the story to life in such an engaging way. And Jack’s voice… wow. 🔥

⭐️ 4/5 stars — a cute, lighthearted, and entertaining read that I’d definitely recommend, especially if you’re curious about trying monster romance for the first time.

Monster romance
Single mom
Found family
Grumpy x sunshine
Forced proximity
Lactation play
Dual POV - 1st person

Duet narration - Jack Calihan & Cassandra Medcalf
I really enjoyed these two! Jack has such an amazing voice and Cassandra was fantastic! They made this story even better with their voices.

Betsy is pregnant with a demigod's baby. That's right one weekend concert hook up got her knocked up and that demigod left her in a bind. The other Gods help her delivery the babe and get her to a small farm where hopefully she can get the help she needs to feed and save her Minotaur baby. She has been through so much in her life and she needs some help. When she meets Felix she is intrigued by him. He is like no other man she has ever seen, that's because he is indeed a very large Minotaur; a Grumpy loner one at that. Felix is on this farm as a punishment for something he did 1000's of years ago, when the Gods asign him to help Betsy he is none to please but he does all he feels that he can to help.

This is honestly such a sweet and cute story. I love these characters so much! It is full of cute banter, heartfelt moments, and steam. When these two give into their desires it is spicy. They get up to a few kinky things including Hucow milking. The cover of this book drew me in but I stayed for the sweet and fun story. Well done to Cassandra Medcalf!

ok actually

I quite liked this.

first....my comments on the audio. The audiobook was incredible! 5 stars! Narrators' voices were pleasant to listen to and just so engaging with the emotion and voice acting. Made the funny parts funnier and the emotional parts more emotional. I would genuinely honestly pick up a new audiobook if I knew it was narrated by them.

the first section was very....cozy and chill. LOVED the family orientedness between FMC, MMC, and baby minotaur (even before the MCs got together. There was still that draw to the little baby)

Nothing crazy happening, just chill cute future family vibes, probably a 3 or 3.5 star read.

Then we get to the 🥛interesting🥛 spice. That's all I'll say there.

but what really bumped this up to 4 stars for me was the end. IDK guys but I guess I just love when the end of a book goes crazy and catches me off guard? It had me stresses. Had me screaming in the group chat.

I love the whole found family-ness.

other things I liked:

The influence of FMC's foster care trauma on her choices
The HUMOR strewn throughout (had me laughing in the office. yes. I listened to this at work)
MMC just a huge sweetheart who didn't deserve the crap in his life

4.5 ⭐️🎧

Thank you Cassandra Medcalf and NetGalley for the ALC.

I went into Milking the Minotaur by Cassandra Medcalf thinking I knew what I was getting into…

I DID NOT but in the best way.

Like yes it’s monster romance. Yes it’s chaotic. But THERE IS actual plot!!!!

We’ve got a single mom dealing with literal demigod-level problems and a lonely, wronged minotaur just trying to survive and somehow it turns into this unhinged, emotional, very spicy story that completely pulled me in.

AND THE AUDIOBOOK???

The narrators absolutely delivered. The emotion, the tension, the chemistry. EVERYTHING hit. The way they brought these characters to life made the whole experience feel so immersive and honestly elevated the story in the best way.

I was sitting there like:
🙂 → 😳 → 🫠 → “okay wow I’m fully in this”

It’s giving:
🐂 monster man with FEELINGS
🔥 top-tier spice
💫 chaotic but addictive energy

And the best part??
I was genuinely invested the entire time, fully along for the ride and loving every second of it.

Would I recommend?
Absolutely.

Will I be thinking about this for a while?
Also yes.

Will I not thinking about milking a cow the same ever again?

Hell yes but I loved it

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

👀Tropes: Dual POV monster romance with a cinnamon roll minotaur, a sassy single parent human, and forced proximity.

☠️CW: Adoption, Family Separation, Foster Care System, Misogyny (non MC's), Pregnancy, Sexual Content

🪢Kinks: Bondage (light), Tails, Horns, Knotting, Hucow, Breastfeeding

📚Read Method: Kindle eBook AND Audiobook. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

✨My Thoughts: I. am. stunned. at how good this audiobook is narrated by Cassandra Medcalf (yes, the author) and Jack Calihan. The story is so cozy, with a little bit of angst. I read this as a newsletter freebie AND listened to the audiobook and I absolutely loved both. I laughed, I teared up, I blushed. It's SOOO SPICY!!! It stretched (hehe) my imagination to new levels and made me question so many things, all good things, but many questions none the less.
This happy ever after is so heartfelt, so cozy, so hopeful. I really enjoyed where it ended, but could see many more stories coming from this universe.

This was a very fun read for me and my bookclub! I had the paperback Kickstarter version, and the others downloaded the free ebook. This meant I got to share with them the exclusive NSFW art in my copy!

The book was well-written and the author is extremely thoughtful in her content warnings at the beginning. The erotic, human-Minotaur pairing might not be your first choice, but what are spicy romance novels for if not exploring kinks you may (or may never) want to experience!

Our heroine, Betsy, (her name just slightly too on-the-nose lol) is relatable. Her baby, Apollo, is the most adorable baby I've read about. And Felix is surprisingly minimally damaged after thousands of years of solitude. Watching them come together as an unlikely (yet visually perfect) family was a joy. The last chapter or so felt rushed, but in the way that it seemed there could be an entire book continuing on after the changes at the end.

The erotic bits were fun, too! I highly recommend if you are into spicy books and don't mind unusual pairings!

Thank you NetGalley for the audiobook arc. Cassandra Medcalf not only wrote a cute love story but also did an amazing job narrating the book. I loved this book’s character development and story. She has a fling at a music festival and she finds out she’s have a Zeus’ baby another goddess steps in and helps with the delivery since she gave birth to a Minotaur baby, so she’s sent off to a Minotaur’s residence to help her raise her child and since she’s a human with a demigod baby she needs a mythical’s beast “life essence”
After going back and forth of not wanting to use her even though it’ll save her and her baby’s life they come to an agreement to meet in the middle and when they finally come together (pun intended) sparks fly and their relationship grows. He finally gets a relationship he’s been denied and longed for and she can finally feed her son, but right when their relationship is going right a goddess shows up to inform them that she’s going to be bringing Zeus’ other bastard children to the residence making her feel like she’s replaceable.
