This is a very modern slow burn romance, extremely relatable and not some picture perfect romcom we’ve become accustomed to and it is refreshing.
I love having both the mmc and fmc’s pov and getting to read their inner dialogue and turmoil-really adds an extra dimension to the entire story.
Found family? This is the one for you
HEA fan? Pick this on up
I hope this standalone has some interconnected stories to come because i fell in love with so many characters from this book and would love to see what happens next for them too. Easy 5 ⭐ cute romance!

Chalet Hearts by Anlyn Miller is the story of Jake and Lucy.

After her job fell apart, Lucy accepted a job as a cook/caretaker for a Chalet in the Swiss Alps. The Chalet is owned by Jake’s friend Matt and Jake is planning on spending much of the ski season there so his path and Lucy’s cross nearly every day.

As Lucy and Jake’s spend more time together, feelings developed between them, but they both have unresolved, relationship, trauma, hers with her mother and him with his ex.

This was a charming story. No real surprises here, but engaging enough that I read it in one sitting.

Book overview
Lucy
There’s only so much disappointment a girl can take in one year. First my boyfriend dumped me, then my job did too!
So yeah, running away to the mountains to play housekeeper for rich people who are never home feels like an excellent life choice.
There’s just one problem: Jake.
The unexpected house guest. The walking complication I absolutely do not need. Everything about him pulls me in, but I’m not ready to risk my heart again. And a man like Jake? He holds all the power.
Jake
I should be married by now. Instead, I’m single, stepping into my father’s role in the family business, and trying to pretend I’m fine with all of it. Splitting my time between the city and the mountains seems manageable enough — maybe even enjoyable, with the right company.
Then I meet the housekeeper: Lucy
A temptation I can’t afford. My ex taught me exactly how messy relationships can get, how people can say one thing, but be something totally different. A fling with the housekeeper is a disaster waiting to happen. All I have to do is keep my distance, ignore how stunning she is, ignore how much she is in the corner of every thought I have.
It’ll be fine. Probably.

When Lucy takes up the role of housekeeper in the French ski resort of Couronne-sur-Neige she’s not expecting one of the guests to be Jake.

As soon as I saw this book it caught my attention as it gave me the film Chalet Girl vibes which is a film I love. The storyline included a work place romance, with forced proximity and the grumpy sunshine tropes. I enjoyed reading this book so much so that I stayed up until the early hours of the morning to finish it.

I felt really sad for Lucy when I first met her. She’s been dumped by her boyfriend and has lost her job. She has no direction in life so when the role of housekeeper at a ski resort is proposed she jumps at the chance because it’ll give her time to think, have some downtime, plan her next move and ski. What she doesn’t realise is that Jake will be a guest of the owners who will also be staying at the chalet especially when Lucy realises they have met before.

The first meeting between Lucy and Jake did make me smile because Lucy picks up Jake’s suitcase by mistake and is adamant that she’s not in the wrong. So their first impression of each other isn’t the best. That being said the chemistry between them was off the scale. As much as they try to stay away from each other, they are drawn to each other. Jake is initially quite frosty towards Lucy but the more time he spends with her he starts to thaw. But he quickly becomes very protective and possessive of her. Complications arise between them when Jake overhears a conversation out of context and after his last experience with his ex, he starts to question whether Lucy likes him for the person he is or his status and wealth.

If you’re a fan of destination romance novels then this is one to add to the list.

This was such a refreshing romance read and unlike anything else I’ve picked up recently!

Both the author and the setting were completely new to me, and the whole cosy-but-dramatic ski resort chalet vibe immediately pulled me in. There was something about the snowy mountain backdrop mixed with the emotional slow burn that made this feel really unique compared to a lot of contemporary romances.

Lucy is a 30-year-old FMC who suddenly finds herself completely lost after being dumped by her boyfriend and losing her job. When an opportunity comes up to work as a housekeeper for a wealthy family at a mountain ski resort, she jumps at the chance for a fresh start and some space to figure out what she really wants from life.

What she doesn’t expect is Jake.

The extra guest who completely disrupts her plans in the best possible way.

Jake has his own emotional baggage after being badly hurt by his ex-fiancée, so I really loved watching both him and Lucy slowly learn how to trust again together. Their relationship developed naturally and never felt rushed or forced. The chemistry between them was so good, with just the right balance of tension, tenderness and spice.

And Jake definitely has that protective “touch her and die” energy, but one thing I really appreciated was that Lucy could absolutely hold her own. She’s not a pushover at all, and their dynamic worked so well because they challenged each other equally.

The pacing was solid throughout, the emotional moments landed beautifully, and the mountain setting made everything feel extra cosy and immersive.

A slow-burn, spicy romance with heart, healing and great chemistry. Definitely recommend!

You know me I LOVE a book set in a ski 🎿 resort 😍 I am known to even Google multiple times books set in ski resorts 😅😂 especially as it's set in Switzerland 🇨🇭 which is where I did my ski season. Although I was based in Saas Fee

This book I could NOT put down. You have Lucy who has just been made redundant from her job, lost her boyfriend and who has very over bearing disappointed parents when they find out she wants to do a winter season at 30! But don't worry she has amazing friendships and brother to counter act this!

Then you have Jake who needs to take over his Family business especially after his dad had a medical emergency. But don't forget the clingy ex who cheated who can't seem to take NO as an answer.

Honestly this book I Devoured!!! In a DAY!! Utterly fantastic but was one of those books that you also didn't want it to end!

When I tell you I was screaming at some of the characters at times 😂
I really hope we get to hear more from the other characters stories especially Ben and Charlotte! 😉 and you all know I love a disney reference in a book!
Fav quotes
“I’m not grumpy!” “Yeah, yeah you are, Mr Perma-frown.”
“I don’t think so. It’s brave to step out of your comfort zone and go on an adventure. People who talk about things but never do them, they’re the ‘What ifs’ of life. It’s better to give things a go and decide that they’re not for you, than to spend a life thinking ‘what if I’d done this, that, or the other’. So there, I think you’re brave.”

This was a great read that brought in themes of heartache, betrayal, new love and finding yourself again 💞
The story follows the POV of Lucy and Jake who are both reeling from rough breakups and changes in their working lives as they take time away to figure out their new situations.
Lucy has taken a job working as a housekeeper at the chalet Jake is staying at and we get a front row seat to watching their feelings grow for each other throughout their time together. I loved that both characters are in their 30's and they are having to work through starting over in relationships, at what can be considered a late age for some, but neither of them are rushing at the idea and use their history to be much more cautious! 🥰
Whilst I did feel frustrated that towards the end their lack of communication hindered them a bit, I also fully agree that people hold back information which can then be misconstrued and taken in the wrong way and I commend the author for being able to make me feel such a range of emotions while I was reading! 😂
I can't wait to read more from Anlyn and I hope we get lots more from this series as there are so many other characters I want to know about! 💕

Thank you to the author and love book tours for allowing me to read and review Chalet Hearts.

Rae read a sweet romance over her normal darker romance?!
Yep, that happened!
And I really enjoyed it. This is the kind of book if I were given the time to in a single day, I’d of devoured it within several hours. Life is life and adulting has to happen unfortunately 😅
But yes, I’d of absolutely devoured this book in one sitting, it’s sweet, emotional, written to pull the reader into the moments emotions really well, realistic rather than fictional, a cast of side characters that you come to adore (and I hope they feature in their own books in this series), it was a lovely start to what I hope is a very enjoyable series. It gave me a little vibe of Bridget Jones in some ways, specially the family dynamic and who can’t love a swoon worthy book with those vibes?!
Cover is simplistic yet lovely, an eye catcher of colours.

Would I recommend it?
Yes, it’s a lovely little story. Good pallet cleanser if you’re a reader like me with a darker read preference. Will be passing this along to a friend who I know will enjoy it 💛

I love a romance set in the snow, and this has all the cosy, wintry vibes but the heat is dialled up to the top quickly and I'm surprised they dont melt all that snow!
We meet Lucy who gets a job at a ski chalet for a wealthy family and Jake, friend of said family who's staying there too. As well as these two we meet some of Lucy's friends and family from home, and the family who's chalet she is staying at and some new friends who live in the area and they all clearly have interesting back stories and will make for exciting books should the author carry on this series following them (I sure hope she does!)
I love a romance which follows the misunderatanding format, and this one is a doozy! I do wish we had seen a bit more of the reunion and explanation rather than skipping ahead. I do like an epilogue though so was glad to see that!
I think what I liked most here was the characters and their relationships. I think this is something the author has done a fabulous job with.
I believe this is a debut piece of work, and its very impressive, I look forward to reading more from this author in the future!

After losing both her boyfriend and her job, Lucy feels completely stuck. Desperate for a fresh start, she takes a job at a ski resort, hoping a change of scenery will help her move on.

But things take a turn the moment she has a disastrous encounter at the airport with a frustratingly grumpy man named Jake — only to discover he’s staying at the very chalet where she’ll be working.

Lucy definitely isn’t looking for romance, but no matter how hard she tries to stay away from Jake, she can’t seem to resist him… and the feeling is very much mutual.

Ok this book was adorable. I really enjoyed reading it. The story was great and the characters were so lovable. I loved Jake being this man who thought he’d never want a relationship again, only to fall completely headfirst for Lucy.

I did take off one star though because the ending felt a little rushed for me, and I personally cannot deal with the word “sex” being used for lady parts. 😂😂. Although this is personal preference. I would definitely recommend this book to friends.

This is the first book in the Hearts series and I was so excited to get my hands on this one.

I was instantly drawn in by the gorgeous front cover and that sunset is to die for!

I do love my romance reads at the moment and so I was ready to just sit and fully immerse myself in this world, but I have to say that even without being my mood read, this would have instantly sucked me into Lucy and Jake's story, right for the start.

I loved that this was a dual pov format as this really helped us to get to know our characters and their circumstances much better - I easily connected to both main characters and those around them too.

It was clear from the start that there was something pulling between Lucy and Jake, but would they overcome their past failed relationship worries and manage to let the other into their lives.

I normally get a bit frustrated with the miscommunication trope - but I do think it worked well here because of the fact that both parties were a little wary of stating a new relationship and it didn't put me off rooting for the couple at all.

I liked meeting the rest of the characters and seeing the way of life at the chalet.

I hope that we'll be seeing these characters again in their own stories in future books - and I wonder whether they will all be set in the mountains or whether the next book will bring us another new setting?

Thank you to Love Book Tours for sending me a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I have to be in the right mood for romance but luckily I devoured this one on a hot tub holiday over the weekend in pretty much one sitting and thoroughly enjoyed it. It’s the kind of book that you can just devour like that and it’s a great cosy modern day romance set at a ski chalet resort . It’s written in a way that does immediately pull you in and plays on your emotions. The characters are all well written and we have a strong power couple in play. I think there are going to be some great side stories in this series, but at the moment I’m all about Lucy and Jake. It’s giving me hall mark movie vibes and there is a nice little element of spice as well. It would make a great movie. The miscommunication trope was a little bit overdone towards the end but all in all I am definitely up for more of this series.

I loved this story 🥹 Lucy is having a rough time of it she is dumped by her boyfriend and made redundant from her job that she actually enjoyed she’s offered work at a Chalet in France and takes the leap even if it’s a downgrade from the work she’s used to but she needs a change of scenery and it was the best decision she ever made 🥰

Jake hasn’t had it easy in the relationship department either his ex is delusional 🙈

I loved her and Jakes slow burn relationship he was tough to crack in the start and I struggled to like his character but once it got more in to the story I loved the both of them and was left wanting more I think this is the perfect read for any time but I would have loved to have read this around Christmas time all the talk about the cold and the skiing got me all in the feels for the winter 🥶

Highly recommend if you want a cosy steamy romance ❤️‍🔥🥰

Romance is quickly starting to become my favorite genre. This story is beautifully written from the point of view of both Lucy and Jake. I loved that I was able to get a glimpse into both their minds while the drama unfolded. It has just the right amount of spice, not too much and cringy, but not so little that I felt dissatisfied on that level. The setting was perfect as it takes place in a chalet at a ski resort. The characters were relatable and didn't seem so far fetched to imagine hearing this story from a group of friends in real life. I ate up all the drama that transpired between Lucy, Jake, and Izzy. I love a good drama. But what I loved most of all was the happily ever after that I got at the end. The epilogue gave my heart the butterflies. Definitely worth the read if you like romance with some spicy scenes involved. Loved this one!

A cosy and uplifting romance filled with warmth, heart, quiet emotional depth, and just the right sprinkling of spice. The dual POV works well, allowing you to really connect with both characters as their slow-burning, enemies-to-lovers dynamic gradually unfolds.

Themes of vulnerability, trust, and personal growth are thoughtfully explored, all wrapped in a comforting, wintry atmosphere. The gentle pacing and immersive chalet setting make this an easy, feel-good escape, perfect for curling up with on a quiet afternoon/evening.

It was a quick, engaging read for me, and I’m already looking forward to continuing the series.

Perfect for fans of cosy romances, snowy settings, and emotionally rich, low drama love stories.

I enjoyed reading Chalet Hearts, it's a slow burn romance with found family sprinkled in for good measure. This novel is a multi POV format from the main characters Lucy and Jake. I love this format as it gives an insight into each character and I feel we learn more in depth about them. I loved their dynamics and how they played out alongside each other. The backdrop of the ski resort made for a picturesque setting, the descriptions made me feel like it was there with them from the comfort of my warm sofa and I loved the tropes we got throughout the novel. The writing was engaging, the miscommunication trope was well played and I say this from someone that usually doesn't like that trope, the way the book was written it grabbed me and made it a quick read. I loved the outcome, it was a very satisfying read!

Hearts Series Book 1.
I really did enjoy this book. I loved the cover and blurb of this book. It did take a few chapters to get into this book. But once I got into this book I couldn't put it down. I loved Lucy. I loved Sally Mai Tom and Ben. Jake grew on me. I wasn't sure about him to begin with. I loved Matt. I loved the messages between the group of Lucy's friends. I loved the ending. I can't believe this is a debut book. I love discovering new authors. I definitely recommend this book.

Chalet Hearts - Anlyn Miller

I really enjoyed this book from start to finish. I really liked having both POV's and learning more about Lucy and Jake and their stories. I was rooting for both of them throughout the entire story.

The side characters also had me laughing out loud and I'm hoping to find out more about them in the upcoming books of the Hearts series 🩷

It was romantic, spicy and sweet and made me want to book a little trip to the snowy mountains 😍

Chalet Hearts is a cosy heartfelt romance that was enjoyable and kept me turning the pages right from the start.

The storyline is told as a dual point of view format following Lucy's and Jake's journey. The chemistry and connection between Lucy and Jake really jumps off the page and you can really feel every emotion while reading. This had an incredible range of side characters that added that extra depth to the storyline and kept it entertaining.

This made for a cosy and engaging read. That is definitely worth picking up and reading. I can't wait to see where the author goes next with the series.

This is a sweet rom-com with a dash of spice.

Lucy and Jake are perfect together and despite numerous incidents of mis-communication which usually frustrates the hell out of me I couldn't help but root for them.

I loved the side characters. Charlotte and Ben need their own story. I find Ben such an interesting character.

I would also love to know what life looks like away from the chalet for all of the characters and hopefully book 2 will touch on that.

This was such a perfect slow burn romance, i absolutely loved the length of the book i though it was the perfect amount of romance to story ratio. sometimes romance books can be on the longer side but without reason. This one however was amazing! I loved the dynamic between lucy and Jake and their characters were so likeable too! I have to say this is my first ski romance but once i picked it up i couldn't put it down. I would say fans of tessa bailey and lindsey kelk will enjoy this book.

Wow! Absolutely incredible this book was!! I enjoyed it from the moment I picked it up and was disheartened when it finished. I adored Lucy and felt sorry for her with the amount she had gone through so when she bumped into Jake at the airport I was hoping it would be the start of something wonderful! LOVED the setting of this love story and I really felt I was there whilst reading. Excellently written and the characters, I loved them all! Hopefully there’s a book 2 coming out somewhere along the line in the same destination.
I was gifted this fabulous book by the amazing @lovebookstours and @anlynmillerauthor how beautiful is the font cover😍

Love, love, LOVE this!

I’ve been in a bit of a reading slump of late and this was just what I needed to drag me out of it. I was so invested in Luce’s story for the first few pages.

The dual narrative works so well, it creates great tension and makes it a real page turner. I really couldn’t put it down.
I know it’s set in the snowy slopes, but this is a perfect holiday read 💜

I am so glad that this is book 1 of a series because I am absolutely here for them all (and anything else Anlyn writes!)

This was a lovely, fast-paced romance book with just the right amount of spice to keep things interesting. I devoured this book in practically one sitting because it was just so easy to read and get swept up in.

Multi-POV stories can sometimes feel uneven, but I loved the dual POVs here. Getting both Lucy and Jake’s perspectives on everything that unfolded gave a fantastic look into their chemistry. Their backstories were expertly delivered, giving them genuine emotional depth without slowing down the plot, which allowed the romantic tension to build beautifully.

A huge shoutout to the supporting cast, too - the side characters made this book exceptionally rich and entertaining, and they deserve their own stories. I really hope this turns into a series so we can visit them again.

Would I recommend it? Yes I would, everything about it was a perfect, comforting read.
