I’ve been a voracious reader ever since I was a little girl wandering the library aisles, letting my imagination run wild in fantastical worlds. These days, I’m still a devoted bibliophile, forever enchanted by the escapism of swoon-worthy romances and faraway realms. I believe books hold infinite possibilities—and mine are no exception. In my NA series, expect magic, sharp banter, morally grey heartthrobs, fierce and witty heroines, and more than a little passion. My YA urban fantasy has magic, danger, and super-hot supernaturals.
I live in rural West Yorkshire, England, with two ridiculously gorgeous pups, two perpetually cynical cats who very much run the household, a chicken with attitude… and a husband. When I’m not writing, I’m either devouring fantasy novels (the more romance, the better), laughing with friends, or rambling through the countryside with my dogs.
I'm mainly on Instagram, where I'm ready to talk fictional crushes and nerd out over books. (Okay, okay. And I've also been known to share snippets and teasers from my upcoming novels, if you're into that sort of thing...) Please feel free to chat with me there @craggshm. I love talking with fellow authors and readers.

When the infamous assassin Black Dahlia, aka Cordelia Harmartia, is contracted to kill Si Thalassa, she doesn't expect to find herself having dinner with him on the night she's expected to carry out his murder. Incredibly attractive, she believes him to be a demigod. After she's buried the dagger in his chest, and she's on her way out of the window, she hears someone call him Poseidon - one of the big three. Aware she's failed in her mission, she knows she needs to get to her sister to keep her safe - but Poseidon is on her trail. When she confesses the truth - that they'd threatened her sister's life if she hadn't killed him, instead of taking his revenge on her by ending her life, he claims her. Taking Cordelia and her sister to the Underworld to keep them safe, he is brazen in his desire for her and adamant she belongs to him. Cordelia believes she belongs to nobody but herself. Can they resolve their differences and admit their actual feelings for each other? What exactly will it take for that to happen?
Queen of Tempests and Sin is another smash hit from Helena M Craggs! Following on from Hades and Persephone's story, Cordelia, who is fiercely independent and believes that she will never be anyone's belonging, is thrown into the path of Si Thalassa - her intended target, and the first person she's ever regretted having to assassinate. The attraction to him is instant, shocking her, and even causing her to shed tears when she believes she has killed him. Fully expecting him to destroy her when he catches her, she is stunned when he declares her as claimed, refusing to allow his brothers to enact revenge on her. Cordelia is feisty and sweary, and when she finds out that he has marked her without her consent, her fury knows no bounds - whilst her body is betraying her with her response to him. This war goes on until she finally manages - with the help of Hades, of all people - to show him that she cannot be someone's possession, cannot be owned. She has to be free to be herself - and to make the choice about whether she becomes someone's partner. Once she gets that through to him, the sparks really fly. Alongside her relationship with Poseidon, she loves her younger sister with her entire being, doing absolutely anything to protect her, and she forges a strong friendship with Sephy (Persephone), and to a lesser extent, Bronte. They both help to show her to lighten up a little on her ferocity and anger.
Poseidon... wow. First introduced as Si Thalassa, his alter ego - he hasn't embraced the limelight like his brothers have - he is incredibly hot, bossy and intriguing, shocking himself when he invites Cordelia out to dinner. When he recovers from her stabbing him, his instinct is to destroy her, but when he discovers that the person who took out the contract had threatened her younger sister, he shocks himself again by whisking them both to the Underworld, under his protection - but informing Cordelia that he owns her and will be punishing her. And while yes, the second part is hot, the first part really isn't. He acts like a bit of a douche - admittedly studded with hotness - for quite a lot of this book. He cannot understand her reluctance to be his - not realising it is his arrogance and his approach that is causing her to bristle. Once he finally understands, he softens, and at that point, he melted my heart (and elsewhere!). Poseidon realising he is in love is gorgeous - this big, bad God is brought to his knees for a tiny mortal woman, and it is wonderful. Similarly to Hades in Queen of Shadows and Roses, once he becomes aware of his faults, boy does he become excellent book boyfriend material!
This book is paced really well, with Cordelia and Poseidon's relationship development being the forefront of the plot, whilst things percolate in the background ready for the dramatic final third. You are reacquainted with characters from the previous book through fresh eyes, which is always entertaining, and there is groundwork laid for the relationship that will feature in book three of the Brothers of Olympus series (and I CANNOT wait to see Zeus brought to his knees for a woman who seemingly has no feelings for him whatsoever!) The final third of this novel had my heart in my mouth, absolute rage at the betrayal, tears running down my face, and finally a beautiful sense of joy and tenderness with a single plot point that shows that Helena M Craggs forgets no character's development (even after massive trauma!) and ensures that there is a choice for that character when the time comes. Finally, there is an ending that, especially if you've read QoSaR, will leave you beaming. A bet is remembered, and the outcome is truly joyous for everyone.
The sneak peek at Book Three has got me absolutely salivating for what is to come, and I cannot wait to be deep in those pages - as Queen of Tempests and Sin has proven again what an accomplished and brilliant storyteller Helena M Craggs is. Cordelia and Poseidon's story is a triumph, and will leave you desperate for more. A testament to her writing is that this book contains one of the most beautiful sentences I have ever read - "Everything shimmered, as if a high-end magazine had caught nature mid-laugh, fluttering and dancing on the breeze." Glorious.

*Please note, I was provided with an ARC version of this book by the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest review*
I will never stray in my love for Hades as the best of the Greek gods. But, when Poseidon is somehow simultaneously a walking red flag and a complete simp, well, I can't deny that this book certainly has me intrigued at this world's version of the King of the Seas! And where I'm a little less familiar with him as a leading man, this book felt like a refreshing read.
I feel like Cordelia's character in this book is what Persephone should have been in book one. Certainly there are still elements of the character that could perhaps do with development or a little more depth, but overall Cordelia comes across as vivid, strong and fiercely protective, and it was really easy to seat her firmly in the role she plays. In turn, this made it easier to get to know and like her, and feel like you were right there alongside her when she's negotiating her way through this new world. The bonds of friendship she develops during the story also feel incredibly natural, even with the insanity some of the things they get up to, and by the end I'm totally convinced that there will be Goddess Girls Nights going on on the regular, with the boys relegated to awkward brotherly small talk over a beer or five.
Poseidon is probably a bit too overprotective and possessive for the majority of the book, and I can't say that he truly endears himself to me via his personality alone. It's his softer moments that sell him, mainly because so often Poseidon (and indeed Zeus) are portrayed as arrogant, egotistical and self-absorbed... he still is absolutely all of these things, but somehow the author has managed to give him layers that help cut through the rubbish to the heart of a God. You have to love Persephone's needling of him, and I love that they feel close as siblings-in-law no matter how much Poseidon tries to deny it. But mostly I like that there is this three dimensional feeling to the character - he isn't just the absolute tool he is usually portrayed as, and neither are his demigods (for the most part). It feels so refreshing to have a set of characters that are actually likeable when all is said and done!
Obviously the focus is on the characters and their developing relationship, but it does mean that the underlying plot does feel like it suffers a little for lack of attention. It's a great story thread, don't get me wrong, but the pacing did feel a little uneven in places and there are certain moments that felt like they deserved so much more time. There are a couple of moments which feel quite high stakes and are compel you to keep turning the page, but they end up being wrapped up and moving on very quickly rather than building on that delicious tension. But I will say that it builds up a nice set of stakes for the next story in the series, and actually engaged me more than the Hades and Persephone arc from book one.
The women in this book are all incredibly strong, and as mentioned above I love the sisterhood they seem to be building. I do want to see more of Guinn, especially when I'm sure she's going to give all of Poseidon's demigods the run around! My only concern is that, despite all of her skills and attitude, somehow she came across more as a child prodigy than a teenage girl on the cusp of womanhood. It may well just be me, but while there are moments where she absolutely acts her age and beyond, there was just something that meant I couldn't help but picture, like, a 10 year old with pigtails and a tweens sense of self confidence. Which in turn feels a bit awkward when she is around said demigods. I want to see her blossom and transform in the next book (or even her own book later on!) if nothing else so I can get a proper image of her in my mind!
Overall, I found this an enjoyable, quick read that made me smile, roll my eyes and swoon, just a little bit.
Queen of Tempests and Sins is the second instalment in the Brothers of Olympus trilogy. In book one we saw Hades getting Persephone back, and met his siblings, Poseidon the God of the Seas and Zeus the God of the Skies, and Father of the Gods. Both of them are as arrogant as any reader of Olympian tales, old or new, know them to be. So yeah, watching them get knocked down in this book and I imagine in book three is pretty satisfying.
Book two, as the title hints, sees Poseidon find his equal Now, I have a particular hatred for him in the myths, because I always sided with Medusa and in turn her sisters; so I was curious how Helena would make me stop wanting to lock him away with no access to water. Of course, she pulled it off! He still has the arrogance, but he isn't a jerk all the time. Mostly it was his passion for saving oceans and rivers that won me over. A god who knows he's God's gift but loves the Earth and invests in environmental works? I was indeed swayed to the dark side.
Cordelia is the right match for a god who scorns love. She's jaded by her life and by the things she's done as one of the world's top assassins. The synopsis hinted their meeting would be messy, so I wanted to see how she'd get out of a situation that should have been simple. She's excellent at her work and yet she is deliberately unprepared because she doesn't know what the mark truly is. Plus, Helena loves a little chaos and the assassin who won't let anyone close gets tongue-tied over her mark and rather than wanting to kill him, wants to get *cough* up close and personal with him instead.
The man she's been hired to kill is also the man she is drawn to and has let closer than anyone else. He's more than she's told. His survival starts Cordelia on a path of discovery, love and freedom.
She’s not used to failure, and now the unknown client, who paid a small fortune for a god's head wants Cordelia dead; and very quickly the hunter becomes the hunted. She along with her little sister are pulled out of everything they know and into the very real world of the gods. I really liked how we get to see familiar faces from book one, and others from legend as they show up to protect and distract the mortal stuck in the centre of the gods’ mess. Being back in the Underworld we of course see Persephone again and The Goddess of Spring along with her friends brings some light relief and warmth to tense moments, just like the first spring winds after winter.
Queen of Tempests and Sins is tense from the get go, and for a few reasons which I love because there’s so much to keep you engaged and immersed in the story. Poseidon and Cordelia clash because she won't be ‘claimed’ and she refuses to be known as "belonging" to him because she craves her independence. Admittedly, when she or rather they compromise; the tension takes a slightly different direction and the heat between them is tangible. (Side note, the spicy moments are evocative, and yet it feels natural and not added for the sake of it which can happen.) Then there is the wider tension among the Olympians; with a threat that could end their reign over Olympus and Earth if it succeeds, and they don't know where it's coming from? The gods are very much on edge and I confess to liking seeing these somewhat infallible beings falter and not know what to do. Cordelia too is burdened with expectation and is in truth held captive, you can practically feel how tightly wound she is by how controlled she’s been and I loved seeing her gain her freedom with a little help from some new friends..
I adore Cordelia. She's a warrior and she protects the people who matter most to her. Her circle grows as she realises the gods fighting for justice might not be as bad as she thought. I loved book one because I always fall for a Hades and Persephone tale. I was wary about this one because of my feelings about the Sea God — even the Poseidon in Percy Jackson annoys me. But Helena did it again. She made me like a god who cares for his oceans, and I loved seeing him fall first for the woman who could still kill him if she wanted. After all, she knows where she went wrong the first time.!
Queen of Tempests and Sin is a story about an assassin and her sea god, but the threads that were woven in book one continue and we as a reader can something forming in the background. These arrogant gods might be brought down by love. But it sounds like something else could make them all lie down in the dirt. Only book three, Zeus's book, will give me the answers I want.
Thank you to the author for an e-arc of this book! I gobbled this up in a day!
Book 2 of the Brothers of Olympus series (book 1 followed Hades x Persephone), we now shift to Hades’ brother, Poseidon.
Poseidon claims he will never love. Never let love weaken him. Even has a bet going with Persephone about it! He keeps his anonymity in the world by using a different name and seeks to rid the world of Ixion and those who look to destroy the planet and Earth’s resources. That is…until a red headed assassin walks into his life.
Cordelia has trained her whole life to become the world’s best assassin. Under the thumb of her stepfather, all she wants to do is save enough to get both her and her sister away from the life. Her next target would go a long way to achieving that goal. But when that target doesn’t end up being a Demi-god as she expected but instead, one of the Big 3 themselves, Cordie finds herself in a hole she can’t dig herself out of. Even more infuriating is her said target now calls her his and Cordie is anything but someone’s possession. But when a common enemy takes something precious from her, she finds that maybe there’s more to the Gods than the horror stories she’s heard.
We all thought Hades was down bad for his woman in book 1?? Poseidon is a total simp for his! 🤣 The yearning and possessiveness of this man had me kicking my feet! And his inner circle of friends teasing him up a wall about it all? Perfection! I love the little found family of gods we have in this series!
Cordelia did get a biiiiit on my nerves sometimes. We get it: you belong to no one. It was said a few too many times for me. It’s why I knocked this down a star mostly, because I couldn’t stand her at points. I LOVED Poseidon’s POV chapters though!
The spice 🌶️ was definitely spicing in this book! 🥵 they may have an instant connection and maybe some oral situations happening but there’s still this slow burn tension throughout the book. A different kind of tension than you had in book 1 with Hades/Persephone
We have 1 more book to go in this series, Zeus’s book, and we see that story her get set up in book 2. I think it’s gonna be a good one 🤣🤣
I like that while each book may focus on a different couple, you still have an overall plot happening in the background it’s following and how each brother contributes to pushing that story along. And the characters from the previous book don’t just disappear. They’re still very active in this book and will be in book 3 as well.
Queen of Tempests and Sin by Helena M Craggs Arch review This is the second instalment to the Brothers of Olympus trilogy. 3 brothers who are gods and used to being obeyed and have power, till one day they will meet their match, We had hades fall for Persephone, now we have the king of the sea Poseidon, who doesn’t like women, thinks love is like being on crystal meth and kills your brain cells. And Cordelia who is a badass assassin, has everything to lose and hates all men. She can’t fail.
Till she meets the man she must assassinate. First encounter they both fell an instant connection, will this connection bring them together or will they kill each other, are they each other match or are they friends or foes. Queen of Tempests and Sin is a #Spicey,#GreekMyology and #Romantasy will they or wont they, you will just have to see on the 4th of June 2026. I was so excited to see this in my emails and being apart of the arch team, I loved the first book Queen of Shadows and Roses and reading the second book Queen of Tempest and Sin, it gave me the same excited feeling when you get a new book and you really want to read it, as I was reading, I love both of Cordelia and Poseidon first encounter and what they think of each other. It gives ideas of what’s going to happen, will he fall for her even though it is very cautious of her or will she fell him even though she is super attracted to him, she still has a job to assassinate him, she has too much to lose to not do to it. I also like that we get to see a little glimpse of our Hades and Persephone are going and being in the book too. Persephone and Poseidon still fight like siblings which I enjoy their banter, I also enjoyed the sexual tension and banter between Cordie and Poseidon. Also, will Persephone deal with Poseidon come true, will she get to ride a hippocampus? Refer to Book 1. I also love that Cordelia is a book worm like me and her sister Guinn is cool too, she is such a straightforward kid lol. I defiantly recommended reading this book when it comes out, if you love gods and them looking for their match, then you will like the Brothers of Olympus. Enjoy your reading.
Book two in The Brothers of Olympus series was even better than book one, in my opinion. And that's saying a lot, because Hades and Persephone retellings (book one) are my personal favorite. But apparently I also have a thing for the raging God of the Seas, Posiedon, that was just waiting to be unlocked by Ms. Craggs.
As much as I love Persephone, Cordelia Sinn is an absolute pistol and blast to read. I love a bad ass, smart mouthed, stab first ask questions later FMC, and Helena delivered. I, too, am a smartass who likes to think she takes no shit, especially from smarmy, arrogant men. Which is exactly why I instantly loved her. Right away, she takes absolutely zero shit from Si (aka Posiedon) and you can tell he's definitely not used to someone like her. But there's also, quite obvious to the reader, an instant connection there. QoTaS is definitely a slow burn romance but holy moly once the spice starts... There's plenty of it and it is yummy to read! Not only was it very well written, but the blending of romance, spice and subplot is done masterfully, which is exactly what I expect from our wonderful author.
Some things you can expect to find between these pages...
🗡️ A Stabby, Badass FMC 🌊 An Arrogant & Possessive MMC 🗡️ Found Family 🌊 An Intriguing Subplot 🗡️ Greek God In A Modern Setting 🌊 Banter 🗡️ Mythological Creatures
... and so much more. I highly suggest you check out QoTaS, or that you pick up book one and get caught up on this fun, steamy reimagining of the lives and loves of the Greek gods. While this read was pretty mild, for me, in the way of content and triggers, I cannot in good conscience suggest a book without urging you to first check those lists out. It might be mild for me, but it might not be for you, and no book is worth risking your mental well-being. That all said, as a fan of Greek history and mythology, I cannot recommend this book, this entire series more. It's absolutely delightful and I enjoy reading Helena's stories so much. So, treat yourself, you deserve it!!
Queen of Tempests and Sin was phenomenal. The perfect amount of plot and spicy to keep me flipping pages! QoT&S takes places shortly after book 1 ends, following Si or "Poseidon" and Cordelia who I actually loved MORE then Hades and Persephone shockingly. Cordelia is absolutely oldest siblings energy. She feels responsibility for her younger sister, Quinn and any burdens they bare. She will do anything to protect her even if it means being an assassin on her stepfather's payroll. Cordelia is definitely a baddie with weapons, attitude and fierce independence from any man trying to control her. Of course you know this leads to great banter with a possessive Alpha Sea God.
The romance is a bit of a slow burn, I was actually surprised by how late it comes in the book, though there are a few "snacks" sprinkled in earlier. But once the spice hits, expect it to be epic. I loved reading Cordelia and Poseidon's love story. Two people who never wanted a love bond yet it happened. There is some reluctance, miscommunication and then of course the fact that she did put a knife through his heart to really get the storyline going. I love the possessive side of Si as he tries to understand why Cordelia won't let him protect her. Absolutely burnt cinnamon roll energy.
If you loved Hades and Persephone there is still plenty of scenes with both of them along with other characters from book 1. I thought Craggs did a masterful job of sprinkling in Hades humor as he poked at Si's blissful ignorance of his growing feelings for Cordelia.
Book 2 doesn't end on a spoiler, but does set up for Zeus's story next with an overarching plot. I would expect book 3 to have similar themes that book 1 and 2 mirrored. Over independent FMC with an ancient God trying to collar her under the guise of protection- frankly I can't wait as the FMC looks to be the feistiest yet.
Okay to start I absolutely LOVE Poseidon in general. I feel like in today’s day and age hades is becoming one of the more common love stories. Zeus usually gets his fair share as well because would wouldn’t live a strong man with touch her and die vibes that also sorta kind makes you wanna strangle them. I dove right into this book not knowing that this was the second book so with that being said, I had to stop reading and go bing the first book with Hades so that I could understand the plot of the second book.
Now moving forward into the second book I know more information and absolutely flew through this story.
Poseidon ( One of the big 3) is arrogant, egotistical, self-absorbed, possessive and a walking red flag. This is all pretty self explanatory conning from the knowledge that he’s a god and acts as such. What I was not prepared for was the laughable feeling of him trying and failing to get Cordelia to yield to him. He became such a simp for her and just wanted to protect her and she made it nearly impossible for him.
Cordelia, our little red headed assassin is never going to let a man control her or own her. She’s been entrusted with the mission to unalive who she believes is a Demi god and actually turns out to be the god himself. She’s a strong, protective older sister. Her need to protect her siblings from their step father if what seems to drive her on. Upon meeting her target though, her restraint seemed to slip a lot more than she would have liked.
Overall the tension and then passion between these two had my sitting on the edge of my chair, continuing to flip pages just to see what happened next.
After finishing the First and second book in this series I just can’t wait to see what Zeus’s book will bring next!
If you don’t mind Dual POVs I’d highly recommend reading this book as another looking into the Greek gods lives.
I was given the opportunity to read this book prior to release and I couldn’t be more grateful!
This book was absolutely stunning and blew me away. Continuing the Brothers of Olympus series, Queen of Tempest and Sin can be read as a standalone, but is better if read after book one to become familiar with some of the characters. From the very beginning, I was transported right into the world of Cordelia and Poseidon. Cordelia was sent to kill Poseidon in order to save her sister Guinn . She didn’t expect to fall so hard for her target. He was obsessed with her from the moment he first saw her. Their love story is so palpable and intense. It ooze into the soul of the reader with each page. Standing together to defeat a common enemy only strengthens their bonds. I love the way this book draws you in, making you feel like you’re part of the action and a member of the family of gods and goddesses whose story you’re reading. Helena has an immense talent for creating a magical world that leaps from the page, drawing you in with every word. The characters in this book are larger than life, exciting and full of feelings that send sparks right into your soul as you read. Plus they’re gorgeously sexy. I didn’t think this book could surpass book one but somehow it did. Cordelia and Poseidon‘s love story is hotter than your wildest imagination. The book is packed with lots of steamy scenes that will get your heart racing. There is also something very tender yet magical that happens in the end, that was kind of the pinnacle of their whole story that had me first in tears and then made my heart sing. This is definitely the best book I’ve read this year.
The second instalment of the Brothers of Olympus series is coming! I was lucky enough to be able to get my mitts on an arc copy!
After Hades and Persephone’s story, we move on to the moody, all consuming god of the sea! Poseidon! He’s adamant that he won’t find love.. out of choice… but will it find him? 😈
Helena has yet again delivered us a feisty, fearless, female main character with plenty of sass and razor sharp wit! And I love her! She is totally fearless, a little bit stabby.. (ok a lot a bit stabby) and is about the only person who would dare snark Poseidon directly to his face!
And Poseidon, the great egotistical fuckface, is all consuming and very overbearing! Let’s not forget obsessive and possessive… you’ll have to read the book to his character arc! Let’s hope that Sephy gets to ride her hippocampus if the God of the Sea can be tamed.. and that secretly he may have a heart of gold.
Between the fantastic sizzling romance, found friends and banter, Helena’s subplot of an undercover evil has you turning pages in hopes to delve deeper into the mystery, and I was hooked! I cannot WAIT for book 3 already!
The spice is open door and it is hotter than a British summer in a hosepipe ban! It will have you begging for the cool embrace of the sea 😏
If you love Greek mythology retellings, spicy romance, found friends, snarky banter, mysterious villains and split POV.. this book is for you!
Queen of Tempests and Sin is the second book in the Brothers of Olympus series, and I absolutely loved it. This story made me laugh, made me emotional, and completely pulled me into its world. It shines a fresh spotlight on Greek mythology and reimagines the gods of Olympus in a bold and captivating way.
Cordelia and Poseidon’s story was such a wild and unforgettable ride.
Cordelia is an independent, feisty, and fearless assassin sent on a mission to kill Si Thalassa, only to discover that her target is Poseidon, the God of the Sea. When her mission fails, she suddenly finds herself in far more danger than she ever expected.
Poseidon is arrogant, self centered, and used to getting everything he wants. But when he meets Cordelia, he becomes obsessed with the one woman who refuses to give in to him. The tension between them is electric, and watching Cordelia slowly lower her walls made their chemistry even more satisfying. And when it finally happens… the spice is definitely there.
I also loved the banter between Cordelia, Sephy, and Bronte. Their friendship brought so much humor and warmth to the story, and I laughed more than once during their conversations.
And now I’m already counting the days until book three because I need Bronte’s story.
If you love Greek mythology, powerful gods, strong heroines, sharp banter, and spicy romance, this series is definitely one to pick up.
- - - Read this book if you like: □ NA mythological Romantasy □ possessive sea god □ stabby mortal assassin □ morally grey lovers □ found family □ he falls first and hard □ touch her and d*e □ dual POV
Be sure to read the fist book, Queen of Shadows and Roses, to avoid spoilers. Also, be aware that there is explicit sexual content in this book and don't forget to read the trigger warnings at the end of the book. You'll love this if you love Greek myth, in a more modern world and lots of steamy scenes. This book is about Poseidon and Cordelia.
A mortal assassin and a fearless god of the Sea. From enemies to lovers. Oh, I am such a sucker for that trope! The fire, the hatred, the sassy remarks, and one or two stab scenes, turned into yearning, passion, love, and hilarious banter. How Posseidon is being so protective, so caring. He would do anything to keep his soulmate, Cordelia, safe and loved. He is such a broody god, but around her, he is such a softie!
And the found family trope was so heartwarming in this story. I love the friendships so much! And so glad to see Persephone and Hades again in this story.
That betrayal at the end of the book though! I knew he was a jerk, but that he would do such a thing... flabbergasted!
I can't wait for the third installment! I am so looking forward to the next story.
A possessive MMC who cares about the climate and animals and a badass assassin FMC who refuses to bow to him (unless she wants to), all set in the modern world but with Greek mythology!
You pickup right after Persephone and Hades story has finished, but this time you’re following a mortal FMC who’s been raised by her abusive stepfather to be his assassin, and she keeps doing it to keep her younger sister safe. When her latest mission is to assassinate someone related to the Greek gods who currently run the world, she takes the job because she has to, but not realizing she’s signing up to kill the alias of Poseidon! She meets him and feels an instant attraction, and when the time comes, she’s unsuccessful and he ends up enchanted by her and wants to keep her even after she tries to kill him, but now shes in danger!
I loved the raw attraction the characters had for each other which made their complex feelings even harder to deal with and a fun thing to see from both sides due to the dual POV. I like a possessive MMC, and how broody he is but slowly accepts that she’s capable and compromises on her coming along. I also liked the little found family amongst the gods that the FMC slowly immersed herself into and all the lesser known gods and Demi gods in the story from mythology that got introduced! I can’t wait to see how Zeus’s story goes next! My rating 4.6/5!
Thanks to the author for the gifted copy, all opinions given are my own!
This is Book 2 in Helena's Brothers of Olymous Trilogy and this time it is the turn of st@bby Assassin Coredia and a bit grumpy God Poseidon.
The story follows Cordelia who is sent after Poseidon and naturally... thinga get interesting 👀.
Cordelia is a fiesty, 26 year old who has basically had to defend herself for many years so it was amusing at times, seeing what happens when she meets Poseidon.
On the other hand, Poseidon is... dark, brooding, possessive and at times a tad overbearing which of course, causes friction with Cordelia!
It is really intriguing to see these two characters develop over the course of the stories, and of course they do provide light entertainment at times!
The storyline itself is brilliant and I did enjoy learning about Cordelia's past, why Poseidon broody, their increasing chemistry and then also... the introduction of a strange secret organisation that for the purpose of this review... will remain secret!
Helena has written many, many beautifully poetic lines and paragraphs... whole chunks of words that just sing from the page and makes you smile - I did enjoy highlighting the ones I loved reading!
This is an atmospheric read, with lighter comedy notes which I did enjoy and I would recommend to NA Romantasy lovers!
Can't wait to see what Helena has instore for us in Book 3... 👀.
I received this ARC and I’m leaving my voluntary review This series really said “what if the Greek gods had drama, attitude, and unresolved tension in the modern world?” and I ate it up. Watching Cordelia, aka the Black Dahlia, go from trying to assassinate a demigod to realizing she accidentally targeted Poseidon himself was such a fun setup. And of course instead of killing her, this man decides to become obsessed. Classic god behavior honestly.
The chemistry between Cordelia and Poseidon was so good. He’s possessive, intense, and dropping lines like “for I am the ocean and you were the only one who stills me” as if he’s not trying to ruin lives. Meanwhile Cordelia refuses to roll over for anyone, including literal gods, and her banter with them was one of my favorite parts of the book. She constantly puts them in their place and somehow survives the experience.
I also liked seeing Persephone and Hades again while the story expanded. The betrayal subplot with Poseidon’s inner circle added some extra tension. My only complaint is I wanted way more from the Ixion storyline because it felt like there was a lot more there to uncover. But after that teaser for the next book? Yeah, it definitely seems like the bigger backstory and battle are about to explode in the next installment.
I just finished Queen of Tempests and Sin… and wow. A "possessive god x stabby mortal assassin" with "touch her and drown" energy? That's not just a blurb. That's a whole vibe. Readers who love that kind of tension are going to devour it.
But I also read your story. The promise to your sister Barbara. The eight-year-old who won a writing competition. The house was full of teenage boys who taught you how to write real teen angst. The West Yorkshire home with the "perpetually cynical" cats and the chicken with attitude. And yes, the quiet obsession with crystals and witchcraft.
You've built this career from a place of love, grief, and sheer determination.
So here's the thing: a book this good shouldn't be this hard to find. I think I can help change that.

Gosh Cordie is BADASS! Her use of nincompoop had me tho 🤣🤣
The book kept you wanting more from the start, like the history behind her, her mum, sister and Drakos! It's so beautifully written and the chapters are the perfect length...the amount of times I said just one more chapter 🤥
Also WANGRY haha I feel that in my bones 🤣🤣 and Poseidons view on love 🤣 can't wait for him to eat his words.
The banter between Poseidon, Ajax, Jason and Perseus perfection.
So great to see Sephy and Hades again and the roll they play this time and obviously they are still a power house.
Just a small disclaimer you may wish to scream, rage and cry at certain parts thanks to Helena! I know I did!!
Now I won't spoil anything but someone mentioned above is on my hit list 👀
Favourite Quotes "Kardia Mou" and "My angel of Sin. My angel of death"
🌊 Possessive god x stabby mortal assassin 🔥 Forced proximity & explosive chemistry 🏛️ Mythological Romantasy 💋 “Touch her and drown” energy ✨ Slow-burn obsession that hits like a tempest ❤️🔥 Morally grey lovers 🔱 Ancient god falls first (and harder) ❤️A modern and fantasy world setting 🥰 Found family of gods
If I thought *Queen of Shadows and Roses* was intense… *Queen of Tempests and Sin* took everything to another level 👀✨
Cordelia and Poseidon absolutely consumed this story for me. The intensity, the tension, the passion between them practically bled off the pages from beginning to end. Poseidon was powerful, possessive, and intense, while Cordelia remained strong-willed, witty, and completely true to herself and I loved that Helena allowed her to stay that way throughout the story.
I also loved seeing the dynamics between Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades alongside Persephone, Cordelia, and Bronte. Helena has such a talent for making every character feel important, layered, and unforgettable while still moving the overall story forward beautifully.
I also really enjoyed the moments we got with Guinn and I’m very interested to see if Helena gives us even more of her story in the books to come 👀✨
I flew through this book in 2 days and already cannot wait for the next installment to see where Zeus’s story takes us next 👀✨
The passion, spice, tension, and emotional pull in this series is exceptionally written and keeps you completely invested from page one. Helena M. Craggs truly knows how to leave readers desperate for the next chapter 🤍
I feel like it may be slightly wrong to call this book a slow burn because from the very first chapter the action is relentless, and before I knew it I’d devoured the entire thing in a haze of chaos, tension and obsession 😍
I absolutely looooooved the FMC Cordelia - she’s fierce, chaotic and soo sarcastically funny some of her comebacks where absolutely brilliant 🤣 yet somehow still manages to have moments of vulnerability that made me love her even more ✨
I wasn’t sure how to feel about Poseidon when he was first introduced in the first book but honestly? It didn’t take me long to fold 😅👀 his possessiveness, intensity, and the whole ruthless “touch her and drown” energy had me obsessed 🤩
Absolutely loved that Persephone and Hades from book 1 featured quite heavily in this story and adored the friendship that sprang up between Sephy and Cordie 👯♀️
Overall think it’s safe to say Queen of Tempest and Sin definitely lived up to the hype left over from reading the first book in the series and now I’ve just gotta wait for the next instalment and see what Helena has in store for Zeus… ⚡️ I can’t wait 😍😍😍
After reading Queen of Shadows and Roses I was really looking forward to reading Queen of Tempests and Sin. I love how Helena M Craggs creates her stories and worlds. The worlding building in this book is full of lavish descriptions from the colouring of the sky (which sounds beautiful) to the buildings and rooms the characters are in. All of this creates a great visual whilst I'm reading and I feel immersed into the world. The creation of the new characters I felt were great, Cordelia the assassin, felt to me had a softer side underneath that bravado. I did feel at times the language used for a 24 year old is a little jarring but it does fall inline with Sephy from book 1. I liked the creation of Poseidon/Si for me he's a love/hate character, he's cocky and arrogant but he has all the swoony traits worthy of the touch her and die trope. The storyline developed well and I really felt it picked up at chapter 34, it felt like the action was packed in from then on and I was hooked until the end. I know there's a book 3 and I can't wait to see what we have coming.
"Queen of Tempests & Sin" is another great addition to the Brothers of Olympus series. As a big fan of Greek Mythology, it's interesting to see these characters brought to life - especially the Gods who turn out to be complete Golden Retrievers once the FMCs have them wrapped around their fingers.
Cordelia was fantastic - a lethal assassin who is hired to kill Poseidon but catches feelings instead? I am sold. Plus her no-nonsense attitude, independence and fierce protectiveness of her younger sister made her a well-rounded character who readers want to relate to. She didn't annoy me like Persephone did in the first book - Cordelia is actually smart and fearless.
Poseidon did come on a little too strong for me, but I understand that if she is his fated mate then it makes sense for him to be so forward from their first meeting. His possessiveness did become a continuous point of contention throughout their story, and I'm glad Cordelia was able to put him in his place.
I enjoyed the overall plot, and the ending was satisfying. I am eager to read Zeus' story next!
I got into this story from the first page and didn’t want to put it down. The pace is perfect, keeping you hooked while letting the world and characters breathe. Helena’s writing is fun, descriptive, sexy, with a splash of humour, and she brings her characters to life in a way that makes you feel for them and invest in every moment.
The characters drive this story. Poseidon is the definition of a possessive, morally grey god, while Cordelia is a stabby mortal assassin who’s competent, dangerous, and doesn’t fold just because a god is looking at her. This isn’t a story of a girl falling for a god; it’s an assassin bringing a deity to his knees. The enemies-to-lovers dynamic adds tension, heat, and complexity that keeps you turning the pages.
The spice level is high, but it’s woven into the story naturally—not just for the sake of it—and there are some trigger warnings, so check them out. Every line is gripping, and I can’t wait to get stuck into the next book. I’m loving this series so much and recommend everybody dive in as soon as they can.
I found the plot of the story interesting. The pacing is overall good and there were moments of hilarity throughout.
I thought the concept of an assassin coming after one of the Big 3 to later turn into the love interest was great. Someone already used to betrayals, politicking, and death could only be able to mentally and emotionally stand somewhat equal to the gods. Creating a new character for Poseidon creates new pathways and opportunities for the story to grow.
One thing that had me pause during the story was the dynamics between the female characters and the gods. Immortal, ancient gods being out-witted and served attitude on a platter and just taking it with little consequence by young, 20-somethings. I feel that if I were a little younger, I wouldn't have as much an issue, but i found some moments a little cringe.
Overall I enjoy what this series is doing, and do hopefully plan to read the next book when released - will Bronte and Zeus have a go?

Queen of Tempests and Sin is a beautifully immersive romantasy that draws you into its stormy world with atmosphere, emotion, and plenty of tension. Helena M. Craggs creates a setting that feels lush and evocative, and I really enjoyed the way the story balances magic, longing, and high-stakes drama. The characters are easy to root for, and the emotional pull between them gives the story a strong heart. There’s a lovely sense of anticipation throughout, with enough intrigue and romance to keep you turning the pages and wanting to know what happens next. It has that satisfying blend of softness and danger that works so well in fantasy romance. Overall, this was a really enjoyable read and a strong 4-star story for me. It’s atmospheric, compelling, and full of promise, and I’m excited to see where the story goes from here. I received the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
This is the second book in the Brothers of Olympus series, I’d read and loved Queen of Shadows and Roses last year so I’d been looking forward to reading Queen of Tempests and Sin.
The storyline had me hooked from the start. I really liked the tension and the chemistry between Cordelia and Poseidon as things between them progressed. Cordelia was feisty but also showed her more vulnerable side where her sister was concerned. Poseidon was possessive and so sure of himself but you couldn’t help but root for him.
It was great to see Hades and Persephone make appearances in the book too. I loved the friendship between Cordelia, Sephy and Brontë. Some of their conversations had me laughing out loud.
Things really ramp up action wise in the last quarter of the book and I was so invested I couldn’t put it down! I’m already looking forward to book 3.
This was a fast paced book with a stabby FMC and an intense Greek god MMC. Cordelia is an assassin who meets Poseidon when she tries to kill him. He ends up trying to protect her and her sister Guinn from the people who hired her. Cordelia is strong, sassy and stubborn. Poseidon is possessive, broody and super intense. I loved how obsessed he was with her. He definitely fell first and harder. They had really good chemistry and I loved how snarky she was with him. It made for really enjoyable banter. I also liked seeing Hades and Persephone again and from an outside POV, not theirs. I did guess correctly at the beginning who the betrayer was, however I enjoyed seeing it play out as it took a turn. Overall, this was a fun and spicy book that I really enjoyed. I will definitely be reading the next book aka Zeus' story.
I was lucky enough to receive this as an eARC from the author and would like to say a thank you cause that was such a refreshing read!
The beginning took me a little off guard because of the phrasing and language used (like use of). It felt a lot more personal and slowly evolved into story and it was a really neat transition.
As usual, I am a sucker for dual POV and this did not disappoint! It was different getting a Greek mythology based idea read that was about Hades and Persephone (that was book 1). I love the idea of focusing on the big 3 as a interconnected series!
That last bit gives you a bit of a sucker punch cause you don't expect what happens.
Overall, great writing!! I will be going back to read book one and then anxiously await book 3!
I was privileged to have been able to read this advanced copy.
Funny, emotional, edge of the seat, great characters, excellent storytelling, and 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ and 🔥🔥🔥
It is very rare for me to binge-read a book, but this one pulled me in, hook, line, and sinker. I could not put this down.
The evolution of the characters was very creative. The chemistry is sizzling though, it's not just about the spice and heat, it's about the emotional connection and the high-stakes tension between them.
From the first chapter, every scene felt intentional, leading towards the conclusion.
If you like your romantasy with heavy mythology, complex anti-heroes, and a lot of heart, this series is a must-read.
Helena has created another swoon worthy novel and I'm here for it! The Brothers of Olympus series really has you hot under the collar with the magnificent Gods and their Underworld.
This book focusses on Poseidon, God of the Sea. His world is turned upside down when he comes across Cordelia, an assassin, with him as her target but when her plan goes awry, she doesn't quite know what she's let herself in for!
A beautifully written story, so much depth and I'm glad of the glossary at the start as it was really helpful to know who's who and their powers.
If you're after some spice, this series is for you! Looking forward to book three coming later in 2026!
I didn't know it was possible but I loved book 2 even more than book 1!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Cordelia! Honestly, she is just so sassy and no nonsense. She had some of the best lines.
‘Why don’t you take your attitude and shove it up your ass, so your head has company?’
I love how she put Poseidon through his paces. He was such a piece of work in book 1, I was really looking forward to him being brought down a peg. I was not disappointed. Cordelia humbled him big time.
Poseidon was such an ass in book 1 but he really grew on me. I even ended up liking him by the end of it. Him and Cordelia are a perfect match.
‘She’s more than my consort. She’s the one who makes me remember why eternity is worth enduring.’
We also got more of Hades and Persephone. I LOVE the friendship between Cordelia, Persephone and Bronte.
Overall, I adored this book. I have highlighted so much of it. It had me giggling in places and I cannot wait for everyone else to get to read it. I also cannot wait for book 3 - That is a must!
