The Norse gods face the end of all things - Ragnarok. In an effort to save the Realms, Thor places his hammer in the care of a mortal named Liam, imbuing him with some of the god's powers. In his quest to prevent the end of days, Liam will team up with a berserk warrior, the descendent of a valkyrie, and a woman who bears a relic of Loki...but the Trickster watches their efforts through the eyes of this woman and seeks to counteract their every move. Will the unlikely group be able to prevent the Doom that has been foretold for millennia, or will they be forced to watch the world end in fire?

Hey all, I'm Natasha Cover! I'm a student of history and mythology, having developed a love for both at an early age. In my spare time I enjoy writing, playing World of Warcraft (For the Horde!), and learning about the religions of ancient societies. Sometimes the three coincide, which is always awesome!
My love of mythology led to me writing Hammerfall. Specifically, I wrote it because I felt there were so many books about Greek and Roman mythology, but so few about Norse. I've always loved the Norse myths, so I came up with a story concept that let me tell their tales.
To find out more about my passion for mythology, visit me at mythdancer.blogspot.com! I've done posts talking about a variety of mythologies, fairy tales, and folktales from different cultures around the world.

I found this book at my local library. It appears to be self-published - there's no copyright page, so I used information from Amazon to create this listing. Despite this, the book has a nice cover image and the pages don't have that cheap shiny feel that POD books sometimes do.

The actual story is good too - it's a fairly short book (probably actually a novella, though I don't have a word count), and apparently the first in a series, but still manages to be nicely self-contained. It's very plot-driven, but we get a little character development (if only for Liam and Elena), so that's okay. It would have been interesting to see some more background, on Solveig and particularly the relic-bearer's organization (we see a few references to "the Order" and apparently they have a Council, but it's not clear what they actually do).

These nitpicks aside, I liked the book and I'll be looking forward to the next one in the series.
