Known for making waves since his college days, Jashaun “Ocean” Howard relishes being single and has no interest in sharing his world with anyone.
Until he runs into an old fling and notices her daughter with a birthmark like his.
And his whole controlled life turns upside down when Ocean is unexpectedly thrust into fatherhood.
As Ocean navigates raising a headstrong child who immediately captures his heart, he is inexplicably drawn to his hot neighbor who seems frustratingly immune to his charms.
Until she isn’t.
For a man who wouldn’t trade his freedom for anything, he never expected love to be his everything. **Don't forget to check out the other books in The Single Dad Society Romeo by Delaney Diamond Enforcer by Synithia Williams
I want my readers to escape their realities and embark on a journey of self-exploration and love when they delve into my books. I have loved reading fiction, thrillers, and romance for years. Although my original (and still) writing interest was YA and self-help books, I received a surprise text one Valentine's Day, and wrote the very first chapter of a romance novel that day. And I became forever inspired to write contemporary and new adult romance - with a twist.

Really good! Really different from how a man usually discovers he fathered a child that he knows nothing about. Uber driver, Mara, should be ashamed of herself!
His neighbor, Soraya, really stepped up but she felt hurt that Jashaun seemed hesitant to introduce her to Jussica.
This was a cool single dad plot. Jashaun got on my nerves in the beginning by how he was taunting his neighbor but they end being together so alls fair in love. It was interesting to see the actions his child’s mother did trying to make his life difficult but ended up hurting her daughter. This was a decent read.
Hey, this book's a breeze to get through and totally about fighting
for what matters to you. It's all about being real, putting in the work, and not getting caught up in selfish stuff. The key is talking things out and finding that middle ground.
This was an okay read, in that there was nothing super wrong with it, but it’s not one that will stay with me for long.
The story follows Jashaun (also known as Ocean), who is in a flirtationship with his neighbour, Soraya, when his life is suddenly turned upside down by the discovery that he has a daughter he never knew existed. When the child’s mother leaves her in his care to go and “find herself,” Ocean is forced to quickly adjust to the realities of fatherhood while also navigating a new relationship and confronting unresolved feelings about his own father, who abandoned him before he was born.
The strongest aspect of the book is the emotional journey. Ocean’s struggle to reconcile his fears, insecurities, and sense of responsibility is believable, and I appreciated the way the story explored how childhood wounds can shape a person’s approach to parenting. His relationship with his daughter and his growing connection with Soraya both provide opportunities for personal growth. However, there was something missing in the journey- there was some commentary on the nature of male friendships and the unmet need for support and spaces where dads can be vulnerable, but it also felt very heavy-handedly dealt with by the author and there wasn’t enough of a wrap around to tie it into the plot and follow up and understand how it helped Ocean deal with everything.
Also, I never found the story particularly gripping. The plot moves along steadily, but there weren’t many moments that felt especially exciting or emotionally intense. I didn’t really buy Ocean and Soraya’s relationship, I don’t feel like I knew Soraya particularly well as a character, or enough to care about her or Ocean. In general, the premise had potential, but the execution felt too rote and rushed and like the author wasn’t that into the characters herself but had committed to delivering something for the series.
As someone who generally enjoys secret-baby romances, I found this take on the trope slightly different from the norm. The child isn’t a newborn or toddler but an older child, around seven or eight years old, which shifts the focus away from the surprise of a baby’s arrival and more toward the practical and emotional challenges of suddenly becoming a parent. The happenstance way Ocean discovers her existence was also fairly unique- enough so that I was willing to suspend disbelief.
Overall, this was an okay enough read, emotional in places, but not feelings rounded enough to make it memorable. A good choice for a quick read that focuses on a MMC’s character development and a single dad’s experience.
🌊 A Man Who Never Wanted Forever… Until Forever Found Him
Jashaun had his mind made up about life. Marriage? Nope. Kids? Absolutely not. He was determined to keep his heart guarded and his future free of both. But life had other plans.
What started as an Uber ride driven by a former one-night stand quickly turned his world upside down when he discovered she had a daughter with the same birthmark as him. Suddenly, he was faced with a reality he never saw coming. Between learning how to be a father and developing feelings for the woman next door, Jashaun’s carefully built walls began to crumble.
One of my favorite things about this story was watching his transformation. Seeing him grow, open his heart, and embrace the unexpected made for a satisfying and emotional journey. The character development was done well, and I found myself rooting for him every step of the way.
If you enjoy stories about unexpected parenthood, personal growth, and love showing up when it’s least expected, this one is worth checking out.
I’m definitely looking forward to reading the rest of the Single Day Society series! 💙📚🌊
Jashaun aka Ocean was happiest giving Soraya hell while desperately trying to get her to date him. A denied drop off by Soraya to Ocean's car found him in an Uber driven by a long ago one night fling while at a frat conference. That uber ride also revealed that the fling had resulted in a beauty who looked like him, acted like him, and stole his heart the moment he spent time with her. The fling got it twisted and thought his acceptance of his child meant a relationship with her. When he told her no, she took it out on the child. Thankfully, Ocean was vested in his relationship with both his daughter and Soraya and after some trying times for them all, Jashaun admitted his love for Soraya, she admitted hers for him and both solidified their love for his daughter. Then the adults put the child's interest first which became a win win for them all. I enjoyed this single dad's series and look forward to any/all future collaborations between these authors. Great job Tiye, I enjoyed Ocean and Soraya's story very much.
I really enjoyed Jashaun and Soraya’s story 😊. Jashaun discovered he had a daughter he knew nothing about, while finally getting a real chance with someone he’d been pursuing—and striking out with—for quite a while 💘.
This was a quick read that delivered everything! 📚✨ It even had a small dose of jealous baby mama drama 👀. Watching Jashaun balance a new child (with some help from his mother), a budding relationship, and a demanding job kept things interesting.
Soraya was supportive and patient 🤍, but at one point she was ready to walk away due to Jashaun’s lack of acknowledgment of their relationship—especially when it came to his daughter and the time they spent together 😩.
In the end, everything worked out, making it a satisfying and heartfelt read 💕👏🏾.
I’m in love with the Single Dad Society series. I hope the authors add more books to it. This is the second book from it that I’ve read and I honestly couldn’t put it down. “Romeo” was great too! But this one gave me so much insight into how men feel being single dads. Of course we all make choices good or bad. We all know that there are also consequences in making those decisions. “Ocean” totally didn’t see this one coming and neither did I. Applause 👏🏾 to the men out there stepping up and being responsible and present in their children’s lives. I also loved how the author talked about it taking a village because as parents you need that village. So don’t be afraid to ask for help. See how caught up I am. LOL. Anyway make sure you grab a copy of all 3 books and get caught up. I’m about to read the “Enforcer.”
I really enjoyed this short story from beginning to end. I couldn’t put it down. This story showed that things happen when they are supposed to. For Ocean to have been a man who swore off love, children and commitment, all it took was him finding out he had a child out there in the world that he had no idea about to realize that he only felt that way as a trauma response to his own father not being in his life. I enjoyed seeing the growth with Jashaun and seeing him realize he wanted love and was able to love and find balance with loving on Soraya and his daughter.
I’m exciting to continue this series and hope the other stories by the other authors are just as good.
This was a very sweet and entertaining short story. Ocean's story was well written and relatable. It has strong characters with growth. My favorite character is Jussica.
I liked Ocean's journey through fatherhood, it was different but relatable. Becoming a new father and trying to maneuver a new relationship, at the same time, would be a tall task for anyone. He managed the bumps and bruises to build solid relationships with the ones he loved. Being surrounded by strong women helped him to overcome the hurt and make through the trials and storms. I also love his mother's character. That sister had fire in her.
Jashaun and Soraya's story. Love was in the air between the two of them at the start of this story. They were definitely a work in progress, but I think he had much more to settle in his heart. Daddy issues! The man group he joined was perfect for him. I loved the support that was evident with the single dads.
A girl can take only so much, but when you know, you know. Soraya held on longer than I would have, hoping that Jashaun would truly trust, share his life, and surrender to her totally. Let's just say that she made him him work to get her to stay focused on him.
Jashaun's daughter Juss, was too much. That mouth of hers, baaby, would have her behind tanned, if she was mine. But I will say, that little girl brought him and his mother much joy
I really enjoyed this story. Jashaun “Ocean” Howard never expected his entire world to shift during a simple rideshare pickup, but discovering he has a daughter forces him to confront fatherhood head‑on. Watching him navigate this new reality—while trying to build a relationship with his neighbor—made for a heartfelt and engaging read.
What I loved most was seeing Ocean fall for his daughter just as deeply as he falls for love itself. His journey from carefree bachelor to a man learning to open his heart, accept support, and redefine what family looks like was beautifully done. The chemistry, the growth, and the emotional beats all worked together to create a satisfying story.
A touching, character‑driven read about unexpected fatherhood, second chances, and letting love in
First installment of the Single Dad's Club, and it's a good one. There are always clubs for women but you never hear of ones for dads. So this was a pleasant surprise.
I hate the fact that Mara kept Jussie from Ocean for seven years, but he stepped up like a champ. He had struggles, roadblocks, meltdowns, and almost lost his woman, but after joining the club he realized that he needed his village.
Daddies love their daughters so this was a great book!
Finally, the struggles, vulnerabilities & or challenges of single fatherhood from a responsible man’s perspective. Excellent 🤩! “Ocean (Single Dad Society)” addressed two proverbial birds with one stone: be the father he never had & learn how to open his heart to love. Nevertheless, Soraya, Jashaun & family was a tenuous journey yet a beautiful story with a HEA 🥰‼️
Jashaun and Soraya story was nice. A love that was tentative, sweet, and right in front of them. Jussica's arrival in their lives was pivotal for their relationship as Ocean needed to know he could love unconditionally before he could offer more to anyone. I do love how he found out about his daughter because I felt it was divine intervention. Finally, I liked that the author kept Jussica childlike and not aged her perception or her words.
I'm a sucker for a single father love story and this one didn't disappoint. Fate was all over this story and I loved it. Jashaun runs into a former fling and discovers a child was the result. He takes on the responsibility raising his daughter, but he also has to navigate a budding relationship with Soraya. They have their ups and downs, but everything works out in the end.
I’ll start by saying that this is the first book that I’ve read by Tiye ad this well written, interesting book kept my attention from beginning to end. We were introduced to Jashaun aka Ocean who was determined to not have a wife or children but fate had other plans for him. I liked the way that the author integrated him into the new life that he found himself in. I’m looking forward to reading more of this author’s books.
What an insufferable couple and to be quite honest, the FMC was the worst. They both played too many games and I still don’t understand how they got to the “in love” part of their relationship that seemed more like a situationship than anything. They both wanted to be in control of things when they should’ve just gone with the flow and enjoyed the moment. Overall, it was a decent storyline but the characters were flawed. 🤷🏾♀️
A wonderful story of two people finding each other and Jashaun finding out he has a 7 year old daughter and is pushed into fatherhood There is some baby mama drama but it is kept to a minimum The focus is on how to embrace fatherhood when you didn’t know it was coming and building relationships Great characters and the supporting characters were amazing Great job Tiye You always keep your stories real life
While Jashaun "Ocean" Howard never planned on having children, once he discovered he had a daughter, he fully embraced fatherhood and became a devoted parent to Jussica. While he and Mara, his daughter's mother, got on my nerves at times, I did like and enjoy Jussica. Loved Jussica's relationship with Jashaun's Mom too. I remain on the fence about his relationship with his neighbor Soraya. Their back and forth became annoying after a while and I'm still not convinced they should be together.
This was a cute quick story… I can’t say I’m in love with the characters but due to the subject I was interested. I finished the book that should be enough to let you know it’s something to read. Reading about a single dad in the sense of how the circumstances would have been done to a women is what interested me reading this book. I am a lover of excitement and adventure this was a simple romance novel. Enjoy
Loved it!!! Now Ocean did pluck my nerves because sir, what are you doing? I absolutely loved how Soraya stood ten toes down for what she expected and tolerated. I’ll definitely have to read the others in this series. Oh and Mara, she definitely got on my nerves! She was very selfish and instead of using her words like an adult she just dipped. I would have just rather she stayed gone.
Ocean is my second book from Single Dad Society. Ocean is Jashan and Soraya story. This is a story of past trauma and the pain of an absent father. Jashan learned that he had a daughter that he knew nothing about. He wanted his daughter to know that he loved her and that nothing came before her. Heartwarming, emotional, and funny. Good read!
Good read, I liked the characters and storyline. Jashuaun discovered he’s a father of a seven year old by happenstance. He immediately acknowledges the child and takes responsibility. He’s attracted to his neighbor Soraya. While Jashaun is navigating his new role as a father. He is also on a journey to forever love with Soraya.
I’m really loving this Single Dad Society series! This book had my eyes leaking. It’s a shame how Mara kept such a huge secret from Ocean. I’m just glad that it all ended well for them all! Thank you for this amazing read Tiye! I’m ready to dig into Romeo now! ❤️🔥
This was an incredibly excellent love story. Love is hard on your heart sometime. The baby mama was cruel to deny the father of her child. Things come out when you least expect . Soaya loved Ocean, but she knew he had a horrible outlook on love and marriage. Everything has for the right reason in due time.
Ocean is a fast paced story. Jashaun had to become the man he was afraid to be in order to be happy. I liked the pace of the story and the character development of all. I look forward to reading the other books in the series, and more from the author, Tiye.
A man who never had the desire to have a family is thrown into fatherhood and w relationship in the course of 3hrs. This story is how he navigates that learning that maybe being a father and settling down with one woman would be nice and that maybe he thought that’s not what he wanted out of fear. This was a really nice story I definitely emptied it
They were cute. She played hard to get and he was not playing with the chase. Thrusted into fatherhood and left feeling out of sorts. He had to figure out parenting and dating. Half the time I didn’t understand what their issues were and I didn’t even know what to expect the outcome. I’m happy they were able to figure it
