Pucking Fake

Pucking Fake is a fake engagement, steamy, contemporary hockey romance. It is the fifth book in the Night Hawks series and can be read as a standalone.

What happens when the perfect plan becomes the biggest risk to your heart?

My parents want me married.
Preferably to Leon Reynolds, the arrogant CEO my mother has already decided is perfect for me.

Too bad I have absolutely no intention of marrying him.

My only goal is proving I can run my family’s architecture firm on my own. No husband required.

Then Jayce Vaughn changes everything.

Night Hawks left wing.
Billionaire heir.
And the one man who understands what it’s like to live under the crushing weight of family expectations.

It was supposed to be one night.

Instead, it ends with him asking me to marry him.

Not for love.
For strategy.

A fake engagement. Simple, temporary, and mutually beneficial.

At least… that’s the plan.

But the more time I spend in Jayce’s world—sharing his penthouse, his secrets, and the side of him he never shows anyone else—the harder it becomes to remember this was ever supposed to be pretend.

Because somewhere between stolen glances, whispered promises, and the way he always knows how to quiet the chaos in my mind…

It starts to feel dangerously real.

Now our families are involved, and Leon refuses to step aside.

This arrangement might protect our futures.

But it could destroy our hearts.

I received an ARC copy of this book with the purpose of providing an honest review.

If you have been a Night Hawks reader this is Jayce and Sutton’s story. They enter into a fake engagement which of course starts to feel real. Jayce and Sutton both have their reasons for wanting/ needing a fake engagement. Sutton is being pushed towards a man by her parents she is not at all interested in. Jayce has his own family related issues for wanting the engagement.

Watching their relationship bloom while they both try to keep it friendly while falling for each other was entertaining. Between people trying to sabotage them and others trying to make them see their relationship as more than a convenient partnership there is plenty to keep you engaged in the story.

What you will see is text banter between Sutton and the girls and Jayce and the guys. The guys of the Night Hawks still teasing one another while 100% supporting each other the same as the girls do.

I found this to be an enjoyable read. Katie really brought the spice with a side of light kink to this story. If consensual sex between adults that includes ropes and blindfolds offends you this may not be the right book for you.

Sutton and Jayce her parents want her to marry Leon, arrogant CEO but she wants to prove she can run the biz without a man. Until Jayce, the Night Hawks left wing. Billionaire heir. He doesn't believe in marriage but has to prove to his family that he takes the name and legacy seriously. So he proposes a fake engagement to get their families to back off. This book has it all! Great friendships, humorous group texts, chemistry, a bit of drama and intense plot twists. This is a 5 🌟 absolutely! This is a standalone but I highly recommend reading the entire series ASAP.  I received a free ARC copy thru BookFunnel and the review and opinions is my own.

*ARC Review*

I absolutely DEVOURED this book and I couldn’t put it down until I finished. I think that Jayce has made his way to the top of my book boyfriend list. I love to see actual character growth from beginning to end and that’s what you get in this book from both Jayce and Sutton.

Jayce comes from a cold standoffish home and doesn’t believe in love. That sex is transactional, and that there is no real reason for marriage. He has parents who were in an arranged marriage, and hate each other. So as an adult in seeing the loveless marriage his parents have and the elitist world he comes from, love for him is nonexistent.

“Love is a fairytale, and I don’t have time for make-believe.”

Sutton comes from a family that loves her so much that they think she’s breakable and don’t want to lose her. And there’s a reason behind that that you’ll get throughout the book. But her need to make everyone happy and her anxiety of letting anyone down is all consuming.

It was an amazing representation for anxiety. As someone that does suffer with anxiety the way that the panic/anxiety attacks were portrayed was accurate. I love that the light was shown on how someone can suffer in silence and put on a mask to the world but inside they are tormented with these thoughts that are all consuming and the drain that it takes on someone.

Jayce was there for her to bring her back to reality and to ground her in a way that no one has ever been able to. “You’re safe. You’re supported. I’m right here with you.”

Sutton showed Jayce that the love is real. She took care of him in a way that nobody has ever taken the time to. He never got the care from his family or women that he was with. Everything was done for a reason, a transaction ,and with Sutton, she did it from her heart.
“She took care of me like I matter.”

I can go on and on about how beautiful this book was. This book was so jampacked and there’s so much that I can talk about but I don’t wanna put too many spoilers. I didn’t even touch on how amazing the friend group they have is. I didn’t even touch on the SPICE 🥵 in this book. All I can say is that I 110% recommend.

Sutton comes from a wealthy family. All she wants to do is take over as CEO of the architecture firm her family runs. Unfortunately, her mother believes that she needs a husband to succeed in that goal. She sets her up with a creepy snobby son of her friend and insists that all Sutton has to do is agree to marry him and the rest of her life will be settled. An encounter with Jayce, a former acquaintance, who has his own rich dysfunctional family, leads them to a mutually beneficial arrangement. They will pretend to be engaged to appease their families expectations and go their separate ways when the heat dies down. As Sutton starts to explore Jayce’s particular tastes in the bedroom and Jayce helps Sutton overcome her debilitating anxiety, both of them are struggling to come to terms with their growing feelings for each other.

I am so glad I gave this story a chance. In the beginning, the characters seem a bit one dimensional. They both are used to money and privilege and that comes with wholly unlikeable family members that are seemingly only concerned with appearances. As the story progresses, most of the characters are revealed as more nuanced that originally thought, and a lot of them have some much-needed character growth.

I loved the relationship between Sutton and Jayce. He lives to take care of her and all of his little considerations and gestures throughout the book are a joy to read. They both benefit from the relationship and are each other’s ship in the storm that is their perspective family baggage and expectations. I love that even though the relationship is supposed to be fake, it is very clear that they each act as a ride or die for the other when a situation arises. Considering the BDSM elements and the family situations, their interactions with each other were surprisingly wholesome.

The book took a darker turn than I expected but it didn’t seem out of place in the story. Everything was concluded to my personal satisfaction and nothing seemed unrealistic or rushed. I look forward to reading the rest of this series and other books by this author.

So before I give you details about the book I need to give you a warning. Make sure you have enough time to read it from cover to cover before you start. At first I was a bit apprehensive about the length because it is over 400 pages and sometimes those can be hard to read. NOT this one, it is one that you will not want to put down until you are finished. I read during breaks at work and I have to say it was frustrating as hell putting this book down and having to go back to work. I wanted to keep going. I finally made time one morning just so I could finish it. It is spicy, it is funny, it is frustrating, it is drama, it is everything you want in a book and more. This is one that I am adding to my favs that I like to read over and over.

Sutton had a problem, okay she had 2, wait no 3 problems. The first was trying to prove to her parents that she was a good architect and could take over the company. The second was stop trying to set her up with people. Especially this last guy Leon, a son of one of her mother’s college friends. There was just something about him that really creeped her out. Third it was her anxiety, especially when she has to do presentations in front of multiple people. One night as she is trying to escape him, Sutton runs into a friend of a friend. Jayce. A smoking hot hockey player who is also having problems with his parents and his grandfather wanting him to be in a relationship before he takes over that family business when he is 35. They come up with a solution, fake a relationship, fake an engagement and then in a few months break it off. Blame it on work and heart break or whatever works. The only problem is there is a connection between the two of them that isn’t fake. Especially after they have a few very spicy nights together. Nights that help Jayce’s fantasies and Sutton’s anxiety, while taking them both to new levels of passion. Can this fake relationship become a real one if both are willing to take the chance or will it fall apart as easily as it was put together.

Thanks to the author for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

Pucking Fake
Author: Katie Strong
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4/5)
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️

I was incredibly lucky to receive an ARC. This is the seventh book in the series, and easily one of my favorites so far. I enjoyed learning more about Jayce and Sutton. They were secondary characters in the previous books and not at the forefront of the series, but after reading this book, they were a welcome addition to the Night Hawk family.

This story kicks off with Sutton and her family, who are determined to see her happy, and they think that to happen, she needs to be married. Their need to see her married is rooted in a deep fear of losing her, which pushes her parents to believe she needs someone by her side for protection (In this case, Leon, gross). But as often happens, even the best intentions can spiral, and their actions end up placing Sutton in more danger.

Sutton and Jayce come from similarly well-off, powerful families, but they actually know very little about each other. While they’ve spent time in the same circles, it’s outside pressures that push them into considering an engagement of convenience.

When things begin to unravel, Jayce steps in and becomes Sutton's knight-in-shining-armor, ready to protect her without hesitation. But he’s not acting purely out of selflessness. With his own complicated family dynamics, Jayce initially sees Sutton as a way to help his reputation and appease his family.

What starts as convenient quickly becomes something more. The more Jayce gets to know Sutton's vulnerable side, the side she doesn’t show the world, the harder he falls for her. And Sutton, who’s so used to taking care of everyone else, finally finds something different in Jayce: someone who puts her first and shows her what it means to truly be cared for.

Their story is packed with tension, emotion, and hot bedroom scenes. The chemistry between them? So hot. Their intimate moments bring an extra spark, with hints of rope play and Jayce taking charge, adding even more intensity to their connection.

Jayce and Sutton's Story

This is the 7th book in the Night Hawk series and it is my favorite one to date.
Jayce Vaughn has been a quiet force through the series. He is a skilled left wing on the NHL team but he is also the heir to a multi billion dollar company, of which he will become CEO when he turns 35, at the end of his hockey career. He is from generational wealth and a dysfunctional family. He is 31.
Sutton Holloway is the golden girl in the series. Best friends with all the wives of the series, she lives in NY and is working to become the CEO of her family's billion dollar architectural company. She is a talented architect but she suffers from severe panic attacks, especially when she needs to address clients on anything but a one-to-one basis. Her attacks trace back to childhood guilt when she was 5 and her 7 year old brother who had a serious congenital heart condition, died after they secretly went sledding in the cold.
Sutton is being forced to marry a jerk. Jayce suggests a fake engagement to help her and to appease his family. Of course fake turns real.
Jayce provides support and stability to Sutton. Sutton is his perfect partner in all of his sexual preferences.
This is a charming love story, complete with evil villains and a HEA ending.
The bonus epilogue is a long one, centered around Zander and Rylee's wedding. It introduces the probable main characters in the next book, due in June. I am looking forward to it.
I highly recommend this book and the entire Night Hawks series.

This is the 5th full book in the series but personally I felt like this book could still be read as a standalone.

Jayce, the MMC, was the absolute sweetest in this book. He constantly did things for Sutton, the FMC, without asking. Not just big things but all the little day to day things. He was able to calm her down while she dealt with panic attacks. He was her safe space.

I really loved how the author emphasized finding a safe space for everything mental as well as physical in this book. Always consent. Always checking in. Always comfortable.

An issue I had with the story was that there were too many villains in the story. While it did make sense for the situations, some of it created more drama that just kept spreading out. I felt like there wasn't enough time to really hate the characters and see if things would get resolved.

I love the fake engagement trope but as it sort of started out as an arranged marriage in the beginning, I felt there needed to be more resolution with the mother at the end or at least a little more acknowledgment to the entire situation of it.

And finally while it bugged me that I was missing something while reading the story, the nickname for the FMC was a little confusing to the point of it. It does get revealed towards the end of the story but personally it bugged me that it took so long to figure out the reason.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys the fake engagement trope or just loves to see a MMC take care of a FMC with all little things day to day.

Pucking Fake focuses on our main characters Sutton and Jayce.

Book 6 in the Night Hawk series but can be read as a standalone.

Sutton is our fun, lover of at things architecture and heir to her family's company. She was supposed to take over already but her family has been putting it off. And her mother has been lining up suitors for her, trying to get her to marry. Could her parent's really think that she can't handle the company without having a husband?

Jayce is our hockey player and also heir to his family's company. But when his brother exposes what he likes to do in his free time, they start to wonder if Jayce is really taking the fact that he will be taking over the family company seriously.

When forced to attend a gala, Jayce runs into Sutton who he hasn't seen since there Friendsmas vacation. It's a pleasant surprise and Jayce quickly picks up on the fact that Sutton really wants to escape not only the gala but Leon, the most recent man her mother is trying to push on her.

So what does Jayce do? He helps get her out of there, but Sutton isn't ready to go to her hotel just yet. They end up going to Jayce's place instead, talking about their problems and then hooking up.

What happens though when Jayce proposes a fake engagement to get their families off their backs? It can't possibly work right?

Thank you so much @katiestrongauthor for the opportunity to be an ARC reader for Pucking Fake. Jayce and Sutton's story might be my favorite of the Night Hawks yet. Their's has definitely been the most fun to watch unfold.

I received an ARC copy of this book with the purpose of providing an honest review.

Sutton and Jayce both come from prestigious families who want nothing more for their children than to marry well and perhaps continue with the family business.

Jayce put his family life on hold to do what he really loves, play hockey. Sutton wants to make a name for herself in the architectural industry. Even though both are doing what they love, both families are pushing for more....marriage.

Sutton's family is practically pushing her to marry a stranger, Leon, but he gives Sutton the ick. Jayce's family is just waiting for him to hang up his skates and take his rightful place at the head of the family business. Both feel suffocated by what their family wants, thus a grand plan is created; pretend they are engaged to each other, basically fake it until their family leaves them alone.

That was the plan, but we all know plans don't always work out. Sutton has severe anxiety, and Jayce seems to be the only one who can help her overcome her attacks without making her feel weak. In fact, Jayce begins to notice a lot about Sutton, and she begins to notice how much he cares about her and her needs. Can they stick to the plan or will it blow up before they are at the end?

I loved this book. I loved how Jayce treated Sutton and let her know that no matter what, she was safe with him. Their relationship made me smile. This book is part of a series, but I have not read the rest of the books as of yet. I would recommend this book.

Pucking Fake by Katie Strong is an absolutely delightful fake-engagement hockey romance that totally earned every one of these five stars. What starts as a practical deal between two people overwhelmed by family expectations quickly grows into something deeply emotional and genuinely moving, and I couldn’t help but root for Sutton and Jayce every step of the way.
Sutton’s emotional journey — shaped by childhood loss and the lingering weight of guilt and self-doubt — is handled with real sensitivity. Her arc from someone who struggles under pressure to someone who discovers strength, self-worth, and trust is beautifully done. Jayce isn’t just a swaggering Night Hawk winger; he becomes the safe space where Sutton learns to breathe, grow, and embrace her own power, and the way their trust develops is one of my favorite parts of the whole story.
Katie Strong also peppers the pages with fantastic moments of humor and friendship — the Night Hawks and their partners are a joy, and the group texts alone are worth the read. There’s chemistry, drama, emotional depth, and laughter all balanced perfectly.
Whether you’re here for the slow-burn trust building, the found family vibes, or the heartfelt growth from both leads, Pucking Fake delivers it all. I loved every minute of it and recommend it wholeheartedly to hockey romance fans and anyone who appreciates a story where love brings out the best in you.

Their Destined Future -
Sutton may have been anxious about how to get out of her parents arranged marriage plans, but she wasn’t prepared to accept Jayce’s offer to be her fake fiancé. However, the moment Jayce discovered he would get another chance to convince Sutton, he took the chance to do it in a way she couldn’t possibly reject him. Even though Sutton was apprehensive about agreeing to Jayce’s offer, she begrudgingly accepted, as her mother and escalated her pressure.

Although the agreement between Sutton and Jayce was meant to be on a platonic basis with no sexual relations, they soon found themselves exploring a BDSM lifestyle, especially as she discovered it helped her when she panicking. Unfortunately, Sutton and Jayce may have tried everything possible to keep their feelings in check, but they were forced to finally acknowledge the reality when they went through a dangerous encounter together.

Luckily, Sutton and Jayce not only got to have a chance at building a life together towards a happily ever after, but she also got the blessings from her parents she had sought all her life to to build her career the way she wanted. I was pulled into this emotion-filled romance story right from the very beginning and didn’t stop reading until the end. You will definitely enjoy this fun read and be happy to recommend it to your friends.

Long Term Consequences
Losing her brother at a very young age and the extreme protectiveness from her parents afterwards have had a deep hold on Sutton’s emotions, resulting in a debilitating effect when confronted with pressure. A feeling of guilt, not being good enough, wanting to please beyond boundaries, causing panic attacks and not being able to stand up for herself. When Jayce more or less forces her to become his fiancée and they move in together, he is a witness what happens when her mother steam rolls over Sutton. His knowledge of bondage and the trust that develops between them, give Sutton an environment where she feels safe and where she can grow into the woman she is meant to be. Interaction with the other Night Hawks and their ladies is always full of humor and warm friendship.
The way Ms Strong describes the evolvement of their relationship, the way his sexual ‘kink’ helps Sutton to overcome her personal convictions, is beyond wonderful. A profound understanding what youthful trauma can do to a person, how well meant behavior can cause unwanted damage in somebody else and what positive effect taboo sexual preferences can have on a person is giving this romantic story an extra layer. I really, really enjoyed this book and loved following the main characters on their path through life.

An absolutely fantastic book! Sutton and Jayce are such great characters and going through some tough times.

Sutton wants to take over her family’s architecture firm but has to deal with parents that seem to doubt her ability to do so. Their hesitation helps feed Sutton’s self doubt and anxiety multiple times, especially when she finds out they wish to marry her off. Thankfully, Sutton can rely on her friends, aunt, and Jayce for support.

Jayce is facing his own issue within his family. Troubled relationships with his father and brother have caused a massive rift leading to his brother to want to blow up Jayce’s life. This would leave Jayce unable to take over his family’s business. On top of it all, Jayce is a hockey player just trying to enjoy his remaining years playing before he is supposed to take over the family business at 35. The easiest way to get to him: release photos of him going to a sex club.

Due to both of their their issues, Jayce suggests to Sutton that they fake an engagement and after initially turning him down, she accepts. What follows is a lot of chemistry, hilarious convos with friends (the group text ❤️), and some seriously spicy scenes.

Tropes:
Forced Proximity
Sports Romance
No Third Act Breakup
Fake Engagement
Architect x Hockey Player

Thank you so much to Katie Strong for sending me this ARC!!! I cant wait to read the rest of the series!

This is Book 7 in the Night Hawks Hockey series, and it is yet another fabulous story. I would recommend reading these in order, so that you get to know all the other characters, as it is a broad tapestry of fantastic characters, which are highly interlinked.

We have seen Jayce and Sutton in previous books, and they have had some interactions, but phew I was not ready for their connection in this book. They are both from a rich society, global business background, which already gives them common ground. However, they are also both (for different reasons) struggling with family pressure to show a commitment and settle down. They decide that they can help each other out... and that help ends up more potent and unexpected that just the immediate family issue.

The growth in their relationship and individually, supported by each other is fabulous to read as it unfolds. You still get the humour and banter, and the text messages back and forth between the girls and the hockey boys, but this also has a depth that is truly satisfying. This book has more spice or rather less mainstream spice than previous books, but nothing too out there and everything is consensual and appropriate (but if you are easily offended by blindfolds and ropes, then this might not be the book for you).

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

I gave Pucking Fake by Kate Strong 4.5⭐ with a spice rating of 3.5/5 🌶️

This book follows Jayce, a professional hockey player, and Sutton, a future CEO of an architecture company, who agree to a fake engagement to get their families off their backs. But of course, things don’t stay fake for long. Watching their relationship slowly shift into something real was so satisfying.

This story hits some of my favorite tropes:

🔥 Slow burn
🔥 Fake engagement
🔥 Grumpy MMC who helps the anxious FMC

What really stood out to me was the flow of Jayce and Sutton’s relationship. It felt natural and well-paced, and I found myself completely invested in them. I was cheering them on one minute, tearing up the next, and there were definitely some heart-pounding moments that kept me hooked.

Trigger warnings/possible spoilers
(not listed at the beginning of the book):

There are mentions of a past family death involving a heart defect, which was personally very triggering for me. I would have still read the book, but I do wish there had been a warning ahead of time. There is also a kidnapping situation involving an adult.

Overall, I really loved this book and the emotional journey it took me on. If you enjoy slow-burn romance with strong character development and fake dating/engagement tropes, this one is definitely worth picking up.

First off… I LOVED this book. Like… immediately need the rest of the series in my life 😭

We’ve got Sutton, who’s supposed to take over her father’s company—but the real issue? Her parents don’t trust her and don’t think she’s ready. The frustration?? The pressure?? I felt that.

Then enter Jayce 😮‍🔥 hockey star with his own future already mapped out for him. He’s set to take over his grandfather’s legacy when he turns 35… but not if his own brother keeps trying to sabotage him every chance he gets.

And because their lives aren’t messy enough already—Sutton’s parents try to force her into an arranged marriage with a complete weasel of a man (sir, respectfully… absolutely not 🙄).

So what do Sutton and Jayce do?

Fake. Engagement. 👏

To keep their families off their backs, they strike a deal… but we ALL know how that goes. Lines blur, feelings creep in, and suddenly what was supposed to be temporary starts feeling a little too real.

And let me tell you… when they can’t keep their arrangement and their emotions separate anymore?? That’s when it gets GOOD.

The tension, the drama, the “oh no I’m catching feelings” panic—chef’s kiss 💋

I was fully invested in these two and now I need more ASAP.

I am a sucker for a good hockey romance as well as the fake dating trope and this book delivered on both.

Here we have a well-paced story that was the absolute perfect length for a contemporary romance. Not too long, not too short. I ate it up.

The story is about two people who have what they call "rich people problems" involving family business inheritances and the pressures that come along with maintaining the family name and legacy. I was a little nervous about both characters being super rich, but that actually made the story more believable and the relationship seem more solid.

I absolutely loved Sutton and Jayce. Their chemistry was off the charts and they are 100% each others' person.

We also had some delicious spice, group chat banter, hurt/comfort, some light elements of bdsm that were well done imo, and no miscommunication trope. Thank God. Characters who are competent and communicate are so hot.

There is also well-done anxiety/panic disorder rep.

This was my introduction to the NIght Hawks Hockey Series, and even though it's the seventh book, I didn't get lost. I do want to go back and read the others because I am in love with Katie Strong and Night Hawks Hockey!

A sports romance book that starts out with a fake engagement and ends up with a fairy tale happily ever after. This book has two of the strongest main characters that balance each other out. Both Sutton and Jayce have families with high expectations. Sutton's family want her to marry someone who gives of creepy vibes (Leon), while Jayce's family remind him that once he turns 35 and after his professional hockey career is over, he will be taking over the family business. Both have people out to get them, but no one worse than Leon and his mother who want to take over Sutton's family business. When Jayce and Sutton agree to get engaged to control their future narrative, things turn dangerous. During the getting to really know you phase and before the dangerous plot twist, both Jayce and Sutton begin to really fall for each other. This was a well written story with funny times, serious times, loving times, spicy times, dangerous make you scream times, all ending in a happily ever after. Totally enjoyable read.

Not your average fake engagement!

This trope often follows the same predictable path, but this book took a different direction—and it was so refreshing. Jayce and Sutton embody the “opposites attract” dynamic while still sharing the same core values. Because of their family backgrounds, they understand each other in ways others can’t, which adds real depth to their connection.

Both characters carry trauma shaped by family pressure and expectations, and it genuinely influences how they navigate and define their relationship. Watching their individual growth—and the way they gradually fall in love—was beautifully done.

What really solidified this as a 5-star read for me was the fact that the “scandal” didn’t revolve around exposing the fake engagement (finally!), which made the story feel fresh and thoughtfully executed.

I’ve read the series (they can be read as standalone) and I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this book. You won’t regret picking this one up ♥️

Tissues in hand, squealing, kicking feet and loud laughter, no reactions spared or suppressed!
Read in one sitting as I needed to know what was going to happen and sleep comes second XD
I enjoyed reading about Jayce and Sutton so much and loved their parallels to each other, while staying separate and individual and their difference from the rest of the characters is a fun difference in dynamics ^-^

The depth of emotions, the struggles and the insight that we get from both Jayce and Sutton is engaging, drawers you in and it really gets you feeling these things, shows you just how intense these moments are, how much that affects them.

SO many moments happening throughout this story, it really does draw you in and keep you going, wanting to find out what happened, why it happened?

Thank you, Katie, for letting me into your arc team and giving me the chance to read all your amazing work ^-^

This book had everything I could have wanted from it. I was pulled in from the start and it kept my attention until the very end. Sutton and Jayce were honestly great together. Their fake engagement was necessary on both sides and it was refreshing for it not to be an arrangement to benefit one side more than the other. Their connection and chemistry was there from the beginning - but was definitely more in the friend side of the fence. Watching the dynamic and relationship morph and change was so endearing and heartwarming. The side characters got me more involved in the story but it was the way both Sutton and Jayce interested with each other and their friends that captured me most. The banter was phenomenal. Especially in texts. It really showed more of each character’s personality. Everything about this fake relationship was more real than most traditional relationships. And the ending they got was exactly what I wanted for them. And left me so satisfied and happy.

I have loved all the Night Hawk books and this is an outstanding addition to the series. Sutton has some issues originating from her childhood and Jayce's family's dysfunction weighed heavily on him. Their journey from fake to real, although hot and steamy, was touching. Jayce was so supportive of Sutton and he knew how to reach her when she was spiraling. Sutton, even with all her fears, stood up for Jayce when it counted. I enjoyed all the little moments between them as their relationship deepened.

Their friendships with the rest of the characters from the earlier books added even more depth and understanding. Previous books had already introduced how messed up Jayce's rich family was and Sutton's desire to escape some of the expectations and dates her family kept pushing on her.

There was some excitement and drama that had to be dealt with before their HEA but the journey was worth it.

‘Pucking Fake’ is the 1st book I’ve read in this series. I’m so glad I did and can’t wait to read the books I missed! This story begins with a funny & spicy friends’ group chat. Then meddling parents lead to a fake engagement. When Jayce & Sutton get together, it is fun, sexy, and sweet. Did I say sexy? The more time they’re together, the more they balance each other out and help each other handle difficult situations which includes support of their friends

This book has it all: business, loss, hockey, spice, family, friends and laughter at just the right time. You’ll really enjoy ‘Pucking Fake’. I would have finished reading it sooner, but I didn’t want the story to end so I slowed my reading speed down so the story would last longer. What are you waiting for? Buy it!

A great read!
Jayce and Sutton are both trying to prove to their families they can become CEO of their Family businesses.

Character development gets you invested in their story and Katie puts you in each scene with descriptions for your minds eye. It’s nice that both characters share similar past, present and future as the story unfolds. Both have difficult family dynamics to deal with.

Jace had me immediately impressed “I know what I like and I know how to get it and if that doesn’t make me an ideal CEO, I don’t know what will.
He takes his Hockey player mind set and away we go.

Sutton tries so hard and with a misplaced guilt from childhood baggage Jayce shows her a few steamy ways to overcome that and become her better more secure self.

The story keeps you captivated until the end.

I really enjoyed this book! Jayce and Sutton are by far my favorite characters from the Night Hawks series. Jayce is the perfect (book) boyfriend. Even though he says he’s not looking for a real relationship, the way he treats Sutton is sooooo cute. He is aware of everything she needs, even before she realizes she needs it. And as a hockey fan, I really enjoy how Katie includes the sports in her books! Waiting for the next one!
Ps: Even though it’s the fifth (7 with the novellas) in the series, you can read this one as a standalone!

[ I love you too. You see me in a way no one ever has before. Not as someone who needs to be perfect, or put together, or strong all the time. You see the parts of me I've spent years trying to hide... ana you didn't try to fix me. You never made me feel broken. ]

The Night Hawks’ latest brings us Sutton Holloway, heir to her family company and Jayce Vaughn, hockey player and heir to his family’s company. Both are experiencing pressure to conform and change to be able to take over their respective family companies, an it comes to a head when Sutton’s mother sets her up to get engaged to Leon.

Sutton and Jayce have the perfect backstory to a relationship, a fake engagement plan, and quickly develop some very real feelings. Sutton supports Jayce, and Jayce helps her with her anxiety and genuinely pays attention to her.

We get some backstabbing, corporate espionage, some kinky BDSM moments, and plenty of moments with the other Night Hawks couples. Jayce might’ve also taken my favorite MMC spot for this series. Sorry Jensen!

Family obligations. Once again there is a Night Hawk in a bit of a pickle. A dual POV. tale with Jayce, the professional hockey player and Sutton, the friend from New York. In order to fulfill family concerns and obligations the two agree to fake a relationship to satisfy their families. They both have secrets they must reveal and overcome. This is a hockey romance so there are some racy parts but beneath it all is a tale that captures and entertains. There is some mystery. There is romance. There is danger. There is triumph. This has a cast of great characters that are the best in their roles hooking the reader and holding onto the very end.

This is my first book from Katie and I have a great time reading it. It has my favorite tropes: fake relationship and sports (hockey). I loved Jayce and Sutton’s chemistry and how they helped each other without even trying. How they knew what the other was needing without words. I loved the amazing group of friends for both of them and laughed a lot with their interactions. The spice!!! How he holds her. How she trusts him. Nice and easy read!!.
