Thirteen living threads. One house at No. 13. And a clock about to strike 13:13. Pip is a dreamer. Tilda needs every answer to make sense. Brimley is quite sure none of this is a good idea. But when a mysterious Compass begins to pulse at No. 13 Hedgewhistle Lane, doorways flicker open across the Brightheart Realm — starlit orchards, living libraries, cosmic creatures, ancient riddles, and a sorrowful king who feeds on forgotten beginnings. At the center of it all are thirteen living threads, woven into time itself. One has been fractured. If it isn't restored, the whole tapestry may unravel. Alyona Rozenblat writes and illustrates whimsical fantasy for readers ages 8–12. The Thirteen Threads is her debut, in English and Spanish.
If someone had told me years ago that I'd become an author, I probably would have smiled and said, "Maybe one day." I loved writing as a teenager, but life had other plans first.
My journey began in Ukraine, where I studied dentistry before life led me in a completely different direction. After moving abroad, I became an entrepreneur, building businesses across fashion, technology, and startups. I've always been fascinated by creating things that don't exist yet, especially where imagination and innovation meet. Along the way, I worked on immersive experiences and products that brought people closer to stories, creativity, and each other. I even built my own author website because I love shaping every part of the experience—from the first impression to the final page.
But *The Thirteen Threads* began in the most unexpected way: with a dream.
Waking up from that dream, I felt an overwhelming need to turn it into a video, as if a tiny thread had been placed in my hand, inviting me to follow it. Around the same time, I found myself creating whimsical characters—not for a book at first, but simply because I loved bringing them to life. One by one, they appeared with their own personalities, quirks, and little pieces of magic. Eventually, I realized they all belonged together. I wanted them to share the same world, go on adventures together, become friends, and tell one unforgettable story. To make that world feel exactly as I imagined it, I also created every illustration in the book myself, bringing each character and magical place to life visually as well.
I've always believed there's more to this world than what we can see. I still believe in fairy tales, in angels, in wonder, and in the invisible threads that quietly guide us through life. Whether you see them as coincidence, intuition, destiny, or something more magical, I think they're always there, gently leading us toward the people we're meant to meet, the choices we're meant to make, and the stories we're meant to live.
To me, imagination isn't something we outgrow—it's something we forget to make time for. If this story helps even one person rediscover that sense of wonder, then I've accomplished what I set out to do.
Creating stories is only one part of what I love to build. I'm also working on an ambitious AI-powered vision that explores new ways to experience books and storytelling. I can't share much just yet, but this book is only the beginning.
Thank you for joining me on this adventure. I hope this story reminds you to stay curious, believe in impossible things once in a while, and never stop following the threads that call to you.

The Thirteen Threads is the kind of cozy, atmospheric fantasy that wraps around you like a warm blanket while secretly keeping you on the edge of your seat.
From the very beginning at No.13 Hedgewhistle Lane, Alyona Rozenblat builds a world where magic feels intimate rather than grand and loud—it’s in the quiet pulse of a mysterious Compass, the shimmer in a teacup, and living libraries that make you want to step right through the page. The dynamic between the three main characters carries so much heart, warmth, and subtle humor that you can't help but root for them as their quiet life turns into a realm-hopping journey across the Brightheart Realm.
What really pulled me in was the concept of the thirteen living threads woven into time itself. The stakes feel deeply personal—it’s not just about stopping a sorrowful king, but about identity, truth, and reclaiming what was almost erased. When the clock strikes 13:13 and the mystery of the fractured thread comes to light, the pacing picks up in the best way possible.
At under 200 pages, it’s a quick, enchanting read that leaves a lasting impression. If you love stories with rich world-building, cosmic creatures, ancient riddles, and a touch of wholesome wonder, definitely give this one a read. Magic really does leave traces everywhere!
The Thirteen Threads is a enchanting read that proves magic doesn't need grand fanfare—it hides in the quietest, most everyday corners until you're completely drawn in.
Alyona Rozenblat builds a richly layered world filled with starlit orchards, living libraries, and deep cosmic mysteries. The central concept of the thirteen living threads and the urgency behind the 13:13 alignment gives the story a wonderful, steady pull from start to finish.
