Nia runs a very unique matchmaking event for women who are interested in women. Putting together just the right group for the event is no easy task when her goal is to help all of her clients find love. Luckily, all her daily and nightly activities are carefully designed to help her achieve just that.
Eight women join her at this event, each searching for something and hoping that this week can help them find it. Every night, Nia pairs two different women together, and the rules are simple: they are to spend time getting to know each other first before doing whatever it is that they want to do together, because the one thing that makes Nia’s events so special is that they’re about letting women discover if they can be compatible with one another in all the ways.
There’s Debra, searching for love after loss. Gage, someone who might give off player energy, but is hiding a soft spot and is nervous about trying a relationship for the first time. Helena, who was unlucky in love until she fell for a taken woman. Kristina, whose ex-wife didn’t treat her very well, in search of someone who will. Carrie, who just came out and hasn’t ever been with a woman before. Jennifer, who, as an emergency room doctor, is too busy to find love any other way. Sharon, who is looking for someone to understand her. And there’s Becky, who has been in love with someone for a while, but since she’s not telling her anytime soon, coming to this event is the way for her to meet someone else.
Each woman has her reason. Each one waits her turn. Each one arrives at a once-in-a-lifetime event, hoping to find a true connection and to have a little fun. Find out how Nia’s seemingly magical matchmaking skills help them all find just what they need.
Nicole Pyland is a bestselling author of lesbian romance novels, including No After You, All the Love Songs, Voyeur, Future Wife, and the series like Chicago, San Francisco, Tahoe, Boston, Celebrities, Holiday, Royalty, and Sports.
Since 2017, she’s published over 60 novels, 41 of which are also in audio, and more of her books are on their way!
Nicole grew up in Indiana, studying English & Film and then getting a master's degree in Behavior Analysis. She lives with her wife and their opinionated cat, who spends his evenings helping her write stories by occupying half the chair.
"I’ve always had fictional characters trapped inside my head. Now, I’m giving them their voices in my books. I started publishing in November 2017, but out of all the words I’ve ever used to describe myself, writer has been the only constant."
When Nicole Pyland writes a lesbian erotica romance, I'm definitely gonna read it. Not only does she give sexy, crazy hot scenes, but she also gives a great storyline, amazing chemistry, deep connections, and lots of fun! (and a little tear in this one 😢)
Singles Week follows eight women, specifically chosen to participate in a singles "retreat" to, hopefully, make a connection with someone. It sounds like it'd be hard to follow, but it wasn't. It actually made the book go by FAST! absolutely loved it... totally recommend this one!
This book is structured quite differently from most others. In romance novels, you usually follow two main characters who eventually fall for each other. Here, there are no fewer than nine main characters. What makes this especially interesting is that you have no idea in advance who will end up with whom.
The story revolves around a group of eight women attending “Singles Week,” an exclusive matchmaking event organized by Nia. The event features various activities, including sexual encounters. Each chapter is told from the point of view of one of the participants or Nia herself. Everyone comes with their own history, emotional baggage, and personality. On the one hand, this makes the book feel fresh and engaging, but with nine different perspectives, it does take a while before you return to a specific character. For example, Chapter 1 starts with Nia, but her POV doesn’t come back until Chapter 10. Fortunately, the chapters are short, and as the storylines begin to intertwine more, this becomes less of an issue as the book progresses.
After nine introductory chapters where we briefly meet Nia and the eight participants, we return to Nia as Singles Week officially begins. At that point, I often had to flip back to remind myself who certain characters were, though by about 25% into the book, everything started to click. It did take some effort to get there, though.
There is a lot of sex in various forms and between different characters, so the spice level is definitely high. However, don’t expect much buildup. There are two participants who already know each other, which adds a bit more depth to their dynamic. Still, everything remains somewhat surface-level, simply because each character gets limited attention due to the large cast.
Nicole Pyland has written many books. While there’s almost always a romance element, her stories tend to vary in themes and characters. This book reminded me of her earlier works Voyeur and Once a Month. If you enjoyed those, you’ll likely enjoy this one as well—and vice versa. Personally, I had a great time reading it.
Nia periodically runs a singles' week specifically for women who want to find the love of their life in the form of another woman. The service is expensive and exclusive, and she has been doing this for many years, with a near perfect track record for successful matches. This is an unusual story, because there are nine women. I though at first that I would get so confused, so I made a list of each of them with a few words about them. But once the story started, I found myself looking at the list only two or three times. I liked that each woman is quite different, with a different background and outlook on life. Also, because one of Nia's founding principles of the week is using sex for a connection, I thought this would be mostly sex based, gratuitous and steamy, without much emotion. How wrong I was. Each woman has her own issues, baggage, problems, but also positive attributes too. For example, Carrie is nervous, never having been with a woman before, but she is also very deep and perceptive. She knows how to get the outwardly butch, but skittish and insecure Gage to calm down and to talk gently. An emotional story, with lots of love, new friendships and spicy scenes. Also, the nerd in me likes that the author put the apostrophe in the correct place in the title!
I was in such a contemporary romance book rut. Not due to the quality of the work, but rather the never-ending catastrophes taking place all over the world in my country’s name. It’s difficult to enjoy lovably flawed characters overcome obstacles and live happily ever after or happily for now while the nonstop onslaught of evil buries us. I decided to give Singles’ Week because (1) it’s Nicole Pyland, (2) the idea of several different stories from several different POVs in one setting with constant cross over was intriguing, and, (3) did I mention it’s Nicole Pyland? She consistently delivers and seems to have a knack for writing the story I needed to read at the perfect time.
Singles’ Week indeed delivered. It’s a sapphic matchmaking story where the clientele must apply and be invited by the host, Nia, who hand selects each of the 8 women, who agree to stay for one week, participating in activities and matching up each night with one of the other women, chosen by Nia, to do what they will with each other, sexual or otherwise. There’s even a den full of toys of all stripes (or should I say straps), shapes and sizes. The only rule is they must participate in a Q&A together for 30 minutes each night, taking questions from a set of cards prepared specifically for each paring. Some women are there to find their soulmate, someone who will accept them for them, or believe are just there for a week of sex when they are really in desperate need of someone to help break down her walls to find her big heart. Others are there to have sex with a woman for the first time, overcome the loss of their soulmate, or feel beautiful and wanted again after a break up with a long time partner who belittled all the confidence out of her. Whatever the reason, their journeys towards healing, growth and finding each other was a beautiful, sexy, fun ride to the very ending I’ve been afraid to enjoy. This is a great read for the Summer or if you’re in need of an escape.
I feel like this will be a book with very few middle-ground reviews. 9 perspectives, a crap-load of spicey scenes and a whole lot of wholesomeness. This will either hit a lot expections or miss a lot.
9 perspectives. How does that work? Surprisingly well. Most scenes are split in two chapters and most scenes are only about two people. So you start the plot with one person and end with another. There are only few scenes with more than three people and more often than not they are pretty light on the plot. So it's very easy to follow.
They are very horny. Every opportunity gets used to explore, seduce and be intimate with each other. In a single-couple-focused book that means whole chapters about bed activities. Here it's more like short bursts and then they lead to important conversations. It's still very much a spicy book, but the individual scenes are very easy to digest. It's not often that an author accomplishes a very good mix of fulfilling fantasy leading into talks about dead loved ones. This is not only about horny couples getting into relationships. Each woman has a very individual journey on this Singles retreat, even if the size of the book constrains the depth of their characters.
And it's not a spoiler when I tell you: this is mushy and happy and nice and has a kitschy epilogue that is fun and heartwarming.
I've always been hit or miss with this author. Mostly hit because I keep coming back. This one was a miss for me. It seemed like the author had a bunch of bedroom scenes she had written and nothing to do with them so she just Frankensteined something together. The story was mostly just a 2* for me, but I gave it 3 because I liked the ending. And Debra's conversations broke my heart. More than once.
Spoilers ahead. ish. Scroll down to see.
Eight people go to a matchmaking event. Four couples were formed. Copious amount of blank was had. They all went home, figured things out, and lived happily ever after. There, now you don't have to read the story
I’ve always been a fan of this Author, but this is hands-down my favorite book I’ve ever read of hers. It’s spicy in a great way and not over the top. It’s insightful and loving. Honestly I didn’t think I would enjoy a book about multiple protagonist, but I was proven wrong and I’ve never been more happy to be wrong.
I thought I would get confused with so many different characters but as the book went on, I became so invested in each story line! I wish there was a sequel! Such a good book and Im so sad that I'm done reading it!
It was definitely cute! But I think the authors stories usually have more of an emotional attachment that lacked here. This was more a multi character romp fest with love.
Another excellent Nicole Pyland book. I enjoy all of her writings. This one was spicy, erotic novel involving multiple couples. If you enjoyed “Voyeur”, (and I did), you will also love this one.
NP has cemented herself as one of my all-time favorite authors. Her range across different storylines is unmatched, and she continues to deliver. Another incredible erotica — A read that left me wishing Nia were a real person!
For these eight women, this "retreat"could lead to love. The only question is, who will it be? I really enjoyed this story. The characters are great, the story flows and the sexy times are smoking' hot!
I enjoyed this book! It took me like half the book to fully remember who was who and what their backstory was lol but after that it was smooth sailing.
