Blyss Sauveterre doesn’t like messy and stays far away from paranormal, but she’s got a pack of deadly demons on her tail and the only one she can turn to is werewolf Stryke Saint-Pierre in this exciting paranormal romance.

Stryke knows he has to handle Blyss with care especially after she used their sizzling attraction to steal an infamous diamond but he can’t leave when it becomes obvious she’s in trouble. The reader can’t help but be intrigued by these strong compelling characters who are far from normal, Styrke is strong caring with a daring edge that makes hearts flutter and Blyss is what Stryke calls “glamour girl” all girly with an obsession for the finer things in life and she knows how to get them. The fast paced and smooth flowing plot keeps readers on their toes with lots of suspense, action and romance while the rocky relationship between Stryke and Blyss adds lots of spice and smoldering passion even though due to Blyss’ ‘special’ issues may not have a happy ending.

Things become quite exciting when demons come after something Blyss has and spine tingling excitement builds throughout as the danger escalates and Blyss and Stryke aren’t quite sure who’s on whose side. The well written scenes and details bring the story to life while the well orchestrated suspense draws reader in and ensures that they want to know everything.

The author’s fascinating world is full of unique and interesting elements that grab reader’s attention and lots of captivating and different characters to fall in love with – the world is sexy, edgy and thrilling with lots of passion and romance. I was completely caught up in the story from the very beginning and I can’t wait to read the next one.

Dark, engaging, and multi-layered, Moonlight and Diamonds was an interesting read.

As I read this story, I kept wondering whether or not this book was part of a larger series. Although I followed along relatively easily, I just felt like I was missing additional details. There were so many groups and backgrounds - werewolves, vampires, demons, and faeries, halves, wholes, and crossbreeds. It was a lot to digest.

My Thoughts...
- The names of the characters were incredible. I loved all of them! They were so unusual.
- The protagonists had insta-chemistry with insta-love stamped all over it.
- The sub-characters, particularly the siblings of the two main characters, captured my attention. I want to know about each of their stories.
- The Himself character was intriguing, but I was a bit unclear about him and his relationship and/or experience with the imprisoned demon. Was there a power struggle? What happened to cause Himself to act in the way in which he did?
- The parents of Blyss and Kir seemed to be immature and selfish. Something that Kir said, however, made me wonder what else might be a part of that story.
- The ending seemed to jump so quickly. I did not feel it was as neat and clean as it could have been. Was that the intent? Was it concluded in such a way so as to draw further interest from the reader?

The talented author, Michele Hauf, has written fifty Harlequin stories, and those she has created for the Nocturne line are definitely some of my favorites. MOONLIGHT AND DIAMONDS is part of the Saint-Pierres series, and one of the werewolves in this charming family gets the opportunity to tell about his quest to find a mate. Attending a wedding was the main reason Stryke is in the City of Lights, but a chance meeting with a beautiful Parisian woman makes the visit much more exciting. Michele Hauf is known for interweaving clever wit into her stories, and plenty of humor makes her fiftieth story for Harlequin notable plus down-right fun. MOONLIGHT AND DIAMONDS entertains with fascinating situations plus original characters

Though the trip to Paris from Minnesota was to see a relative get married, Stryke Saint-Pierre is enjoying some time in the city before the big day. He is eager to take in some of the sights, and it would really be great if he could find another werewolf to date while there as the selection back home is slim. While in Paris, he wants to also experience the local culture and goes to an exhibit of antique jewelry. All the females in attendance appear to be wealthy and human, making them the exact opposite of the type Stryke wants in his life. One woman is especially glamorous in every way, and she turns out to be the owner of the gallery.

His introduction to Blyss Sauveterre is unconventional, but it does get her talking with him and she quickly devises a plan. She had needed a man to help her carry out a scheme which would benefit her, and hearing he will only be in the city for a short time would nicely fit into her plot. Use him and then he is gone forever. Blyss is also a werewolf, but she keeps the beast under control by using a special potion. To obtain more of the mixture, she has to sneak a diamond from her gallery and give it to a demon. When things do not go as she wished, Blyss finds she may need the assistance of Stryke for more than just a single theft.

Whenever I think of Michele Hauf, I fondly recall all of the inventive names for her characters. Whether it is just a changed letter or results in something entirely unusual, it makes her characters be remembered as unique. While the names of many beings featured in MOONLIGHT AND DIAMONDS are atypical, their personalities make them just as distinctive. The redneck behavior of Stryke from time to time caused me to grin, and he is truly adorable in every way. If he is fighting for what he believes is right, then he does not back down, even when his foe should be feared. Ms. Hauf always makes her characters come across as genuine although they have paranormal abilities, and her couple in this story is certainly very realistic.

The actions of Blyss at the beginning gave the impression she was only concerned about her own needs, but being around Stryke lets her become aware of other personal feelings. How her reactions alter from one scene to the next proved what a wonderful influence her werewolf lover was having on her. Their sexual relationship is very passionate from the start, and the heat between them only increases. The major problems they face as a couple will significantly affect each of their futures depending on what choices are made. A large number of secondary characters are amusingly portrayed, from relatives to those from somewhere very dark, and I could not keep from laughing loudly at some of their comments or actions. I really hope several of the characters in the story get their own books because they were so interesting. MOONLIGHT AND DIAMONDS is imaginatively delightful.

Usually I enjoy Nocturne books and their hero/heroines very much. Sadly, that wasn't the case with Moonlight and Diamonds when it came to the heroine.

Overall, the story was great, and I got the distinct feeling that this was an ongoing series though the author's website didn't seem to indicate there were any others in the series out yet (more to come in the series though...yay). Stryke was a good ol' boy who's in Paris for a vampire wedding (which was pretty cool), but before the wedding he's at a museum exhibition where he meets Blyss, who seduces him almost immediately in her office before slipping out to go back to the exhibition. Blyss seduced Stryke simply to stick a huge diamond that she was stealing into his pocket so that it could get out of the museum. And yes, she was attracted to him, but she only saw his as an opportunity initially.

Of course there was far more to the diamond that initially lets on, and the plot gets immeasurably thickened when demons attack while Stryke's at the actual vampire wedding (with Blyss). He'd found the diamond of course, though he was waiting for Blyss to 'fess up about it. Things get messy from there and there's a lot of fights, the involvement of the Prince of Darkness himself, and a lot of people getting their just desserts.

Adding to all of this, Stryke realizes that even though she initially doesn't smell like it, Blyss is in fact a werewolf like him. Blyss stole the diamond to help pay for the drugs that suppress her inner werewolf, having hated that side of her for most of her life. There's a lot of push and pull about whether or not she can ever learn to accept that side of herself and in the end, I like where Blyss and Stryke end up.

However, all that said...I REALLY could not stand Blyss. She was shallow (even allowing for the fact that she likes sparkly things in part to pay for her drug, which I get). But she's materialistic even beyond that and I thought Stryke could have done better, though I'm happy he ended up happy.

So, it's a mixed bag for me on this.

Set in summertime Paris, MOONLIGHT AND DIAMONDS features an American werewolf alpha, looking for the right werewolf gal to start his own pack, and a cold Parisian beauty who has been running away from her wild side for years. For such a short book, the evolution of the characters and their relationship was believable and mostly well-paced. The mystery was fun and the varied paranormal world-building was interesting.

Blyss is quite difficult to like for most of the book, and her past history – why she has turned her back on her pack and being a werewolf – would have been interesting to learn about more. She doesn't want to discuss her terrible experiences with Stryke, but getting to understand her a bit better would have warmed me to her a bit quicker.

This book is the seventh in the series, and it shows. The name-dropping of the couples and characters of the previous books is almost distracting and makes for an awkward beginning. The names of many of the characters are also so strange it gets ridiculous; we have Blyss and Stryke, but also Trouble, Malakai, Rhys and Lyric. I find that I can often suspend my disbelief over half-werewolves, half-vampires who have a half-feary step-sibling, but after a cast of characters of named like that, I just start to giggle and not because the author intended it to be funny.

Overall though, MOONLIGHT AND DIAMONDS was quick sexy romp through Paris with some interesting paranormal mythologies thrown in. If you've read the other books in this Nocturne series, or other books by Hauf, you'll probably enjoy this one too.

I love stepping into Michele Hauf’s rich paranormal world. In her world; werewolfs, demons, vampires and even the devil himself working together—or fight each other. And this latest offering, Michele’s fiftieth book with Harlequin, is delicious and sexy.
Meet Blyss Sauveterre, a Paris socialite and beautiful thief. She has to earn enough money to keep her wolf at bay—literally. Through very expensive drugs. She hates letting her wolf out, so she suppresses it, but it is a very expensive habit. She loves the city and money and the things it can buy. But mostly she wants to feel safe.
Stryker Saint-Pierre is visiting Paris for a vampire wedding. He’s ready to find his bondmate and settle down to a nice quiet life in the Minnesota woods. A place where he and his mate and hopefully kids will be able to run free. Being is Paris is fun, but the north woods is where his heart is.
Stryker doesn’t mind the beautiful Blyss seducing him at her gallery showing. He’s not mated yet. But she keeps showing up and the chemistry between them is off the Richter scale. She won’t ever be his mate, but she intrigues him.
Blyss seduced Stryker to get a diamond, Le Diabolique, out of the gallery. One she tucked in the pocket of his borrowed tux. Now she and demon factions are after the stone. If she doesn’t deliver the diamond to a demon, she won’t get the elixir that keeps her from shifting. If the rival demons get the diamond, they could release the überpowerful demon locked inside the stone.
I was pulling for this couple from the beginning. And I so wanted Blyss to acknowledge her wolf and for her and Stryker to compromise and get their happily-ever-after. Michele has written a book that is hard to put down and fun to read.

I enjoyed this book a lot. Very nice, sexy romance between a werewolf from Minnesota and a Paris socialite (who is also a werewolf, but takes medication to keep her wolf tendencies hidden.)

There's lots of action, interesting characters (the Devil even makes an appearance), along with a steamy romance. These characters start out with something very casual, only to find themselves later rethinking all their plans and ideas about their futures. I like that each of them was willing to compromise on what they thought they wanted because of their feelings for each other.

Werewolf Stryke Saint-Pierre - in Paris for family friend's wedding... and he's ready to start his own pack, and has his eyes open for a potential mate... and he meets Blyss...

Paris socialite Blyss Sauveterre runs an art gallery, a werewolf, with a cold mother and philandering, gambling father, she had an extremely awkward first shift as a teen, and hates the whole messy process... so she pays $500,000 a year to a demon (who is her half brother) who provides her pills to keep the wolf subdued...and she has made herself into a perfect human - a very white, sterile home, elegant gallery owner, etc... but she selectively chooses her lovers, accepts expensive gifts to finance her pills... and now the demon wants her to steal the diablique diamond ( it has a trapped demon)...

She does take the diamond, replaces it with a fake, and chooses Stryke (who is at the gallery) as the carrier to remove it from the gallery... they have a quick tryst... she shows up at his place the next day (to retrieve the diamond)... another tryst (the suit jacket returned to his cousin though)... she joins him for the wedding (hoping to get the diamond - but he's watching her, because he had found the diamond)... demons show up, the diamond is lost...

and Stryke is on her side.. he recognizes her were when they have sex... and he persistently, gently, supportingly gains her confidence, and helps her to deal with it all... they manage to prevent the diamond from being used... and he gets an elixir which will only need to be used once to keep her human forever... and he decides to stay an make a life with her...

but she decides to try out were with him... and its not so bad... and funny when she doesn't take the elixir, and starts shifting without control... and a month later, they are engaged, making plans to go back to US to his family... she's pregnant, likes being herself with it's wolf, and they'll live 9 months in US and 3 month is Paris... ahhhh

setting up her demon half-brother and his younger, 'sowing his oats' brother for future stories.

Sweet story about how Stryke meets the ‘perfect’ girl on a trip to Paris for a family wedding.

These family lines are so scattered all over, that a wedding is a beautiful way to bring them all together and show how they are connected. It also shows how all the various kinds are connected. The Saint-Pierre’s seem to be a nexus for the group.

I wish the story had been longer and that end had extended more to see her at the family Christmas get together. Her ‘gift’ was awfully quick. Didn’t realize they’d been together long enough.

Quick Thoughts: 1)Talk about mixed breeds. You have a kid in these families you don’t know what you’ll get. Like mixing dogs, cats and birds and getting a flying turtle. As long as they’re happy I guess.

2)‘You deserve whatever I’m willing to give you’. While I understand what he means, in reality that’s not a good thing. Blyss is a person and no matter what she has or hasn’t done, deserves the respect and proper treatment that any person deserves.

Fave Scenes: getting messy, choosing weapons, playing in the mud and the final surprise.

Loved

Stryker is a super sexy werewolf who has met his match in a woman who denies her werewolf heritage. Stryker and Blyss were so good together. I loved how caring he was. And the scene with Himself was just hysterical. A truly fun read.
