I inherited forty acres of Louisiana bayou from a great-aunt I met once. She looked at me across a diner table when I was eleven and you'll do.

The one made of light walked me in circles my first night on the property. I'm still furious about the mud.

Something lives below the Hollow. I don't know what it is. I know the covenant was built to keep it there, and the covenant hasn't been fed in thirty years, and the things that happen when it gets hungry are beginning to show.

Detail is in depth and so detailed that it seems like a robot wrote it. This main character seemed to observe everything in such detail that one would think that she is autistic. If you LOVE way to much detail and little to no feelings then this is the book for you. I stopped at chapter 3 because I wanted more personality. Idea seemed great and had much promise but it’s not my cup of tea.

Wow…. So I have to write more because it requires more words than wow lol. I really enjoyed this book. It goes into details of the house, and I usually don’t like that type of detail, but it’s actually needed in this story. It’s so interesting. I’ve not read anything like it before. It has 4 possible love interests, but do expect spice in this book. It builds the relationships in this book. I’m an ADD reader (easy to get bored and skip ahead lol,but I actually didn’t do that with this book). It’s a slow read, but soooo interesting it kept my attention!! More words to cover wow.

slow start
I’ve just finished book 2 and it’s so much better. Book 2 brings character development that allows you to get attached, some answers and more mysteries to solve.
This book spends so much time of describing measurements, rooms etc.. I almost gave up and stopped reading. I powered through and it did get better. I will admit to skimming parts because I don’t need to read the same thing over and over. Moving on to book two with the hope that it moves a bit faster than this one.

Started reading because the description was interesting but the over explaining and the amount of detail leads me to believe this was written with AI.

While I could not find any statement from the author supporting AI they clearly use it for all the art and book covers. For this reason I will not be picking up any books by this author in the future.

Edit: Found out they use 'Darkling Collective' for publishing who use "AI-Powered Tools & Courses for Fiction Authors Who Refuse to Be Invisible" (Direct Quote) - I will not support any book using this publishing company

That was so dull. The blurb made it sound exciting.

If I wanted to read a mission report, I'd be at work.

I honestly don't care how many square meters every room is.... We have to re-read a lot of stuff because the MC has to write it down. I absolutely dislike repetition.

I'm getting a sense of being on the spectrum, nothing wrong with that, it's just not my kind of storytelling. We all have our strengths.

I loved this! It was so atmospheric, and I felt like I was IN THE WORLD the whole time. The swamp, the bayou, the creepy old house, the tree. It's super slow burn but I can totally sense what it's building toward and watching the monsters slowly lower their defenses - some angry enemies to lovers vibes, some slightly creepy, all unique - I am here for it. Can't wait to read book 2

awesome story. love the slow, creeping of the entirety and the suspense is perfect with the spooky and the slow intensity of growing infatuation. cant wait to read the next book
