Kurosh is in desperate circumstances: a single mistake could cost him and his family their lives. His father, Rayis Sikandar, is among the most respected of the nomadic warlords, but he is very ill. If the Rayis dies, Kurosh must lead the clan in his stead—assuming he can prove his strength and escape his rival's schemes.
Oday, the privileged heir of nobility and only Christian in his clan, joins his servants for the annual cattle drive. However, when he wakes one morning, his mind is full of a strange and vivid dream, a dream that convinces him God has given him power to be a Healer.
When the two boys meet unexpectedly, underlying tensions within their clans rise to the surface, and both must decide what is worth sacrificing for.
E.B. Roshan enjoyed a nomadic lifestyle for several years, living in the Middle East, Asia and various parts of the U.S. She is now temporarily settled in Pennsylvania with her husband and three children.
She enjoys gardening, both indoors and out, and writing stories of all kinds.
Having enjoyed E.B. Roshan's graphic novel releases recently, I was very excited to see a new novel by her. Having enjoyed books in her Shards of Sevia series, I looked forward to reading what I hope will turn out to be a new series!
As Kurosh's father is lying ill, he encounters Oday in the midst of a recurring fainting spell. Members of his family and clan believe these fits are tied to a spirit possessing the boy, though no one can say for sure. When Oday, a stranger from a rival clan, aids Kurosh during a spell, it affirms a prophetic dream Oday had about a young man in a yellow tunic. When Oday shares this dream with Kurosh, he brings Oday home in hopes that his God will heal his father.
Both characters bring a unique storyline to this book, melding together wonderfully. I especially enjoyed reading about Oday trying to make sense of his calling, made even better by Kurosh trying to make sense of Oday's Christian faith as he's finding his own place within his clan. Packed with Christian themes and traditions, the story keeps a rich and steady course. This is a great book for families to read together!
A huge thanks to the author for sending me a free digital copy of the book!
Thank you to the author for giving me a review copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This book reminded me of a story idea I'd had a long time ago, so it was interesting to me. Set in a fictional early-AD Europe, it follows two young chiefs' sons (one being adopted) and the drama surrounding one chief's sickness. There are PLOT TWISTS and unexpected alliances!
I loved Oday's devotion to God, even in the middle of difficult circumstances and uncertainties. I know I would've had doubts and questions if I were in his situation. I really appreciated the reminder that it's the power of God that works, not the unworthiness of His servant!
Overall an enjoyable book, fairly short so an easy read.
Excellent writing style unique to the author, multiple layers of Christian themes AND character development that corresponds with the themes.
The ending left me wanting the sequel. \(^.^)/
As a reader who prioritizes theme, I highly recommend this story! If I were to have children of my own, I would want to include this under my "To Read to Kids" list.

I loved classic historical fiction but of late have lost my taste for newer historical fiction. Oday the Healer, however, kept my interest. The prose was clear, the setting vivid, and the characters lovable. While the book was short (87 pages, I read it in an afternoon), it didn’t feel too short or too long. E. B. Roshan’s twists on the outcomes I expected were beautifully written, and made the story all the more believable and miraculous. I loved Oday’s impetuous yet firm faith, the horses, and sweet little Diti.

As a Book Reviewer, I received a free eBook copy of Oday the Healer by E. B. Roshan and this is my honest review. I was not required to write a positive review or any review.
Oday the Healer is a Christian Fantasy book by E. B. Roshan. It is the story of Oday, the heir of nobility, and only Christian in his clan. In previous years, he spent time in another location and was taught about Christianity, and he longs to be faithful to his Christian God, the only true God. A vivid dream causes him to believe that God has given him the power to heal. However, his first attempt at healing someone leads to his captivity. With his life, and the life of a friend, in danger, what will happen?
I must say, Oday the Healer is short for a Fantasy story, and it doesn’t offer a lot of world building or an excess of characters. Therefore, it may appeal to first-time readers of Fantasy.
Oday the Healer kept me reading from the beginning until the very end. Though it is Christian Fantasy, I found this story to be very realistic and believable. It reminded me of a real missionary story. In all honesty, I was disappointed when the story came to an end. Even though the author brought resolution, it left me wanting more.
