From New York Times bestselling author Bobbi Smith comes the spellbinding story of a half-white Comanche warrior whose quest for vengeance becomes the ultimate lesson in desire... He Claimed Her Body. . . Though an Easterner born and bred, Trista Sinclair fell in love with the rugged Texas terrain the moment she arrived to join her fiancé. But the warnings she has heard around the ranch come to life when she is captured by a blue-eyed Comanche warrior...a man whose sensual touch is far more dangerous than his brute strength. But Wanted Her Heart And Soul. . . Lance Barrett has never been tempted to take a captive until he sees a beautiful woman with hair like spun gold taming a magnificent stallion. Trista is his half brother's fiancée, and the perfect means of revenge against the white father who rejected him. Yet what Lance wants most is the one thing Trista swears never to give--her willing surrender. Torn between the life each has known and a desire neither can resist, only together can they claim a love as vast and wild as the West itself...

overly long, overly complicated, and it gets kind of stupid. Ultimately, this was just a very tiresome read that had no semblance of real romance or feeling or even much sense with regards to the plot. I just feel like the author was trying to make her characters miserable and, boy oh boy, did she succeed! However, a word to the wise: readers hate when things are overly complicated and stupid and forced and clichéd and don’t need to anything satisfactory. Don’t let this happen to you in other words.
This story was entertaining, had a lot going on, but at the same time very annoying. Trista gets kidnapped by Lance a half breed from his fathers ranch, she is his 1/2 brothers fiance'. He is looking for revenge against his father thinking that his father did not love him. Throughout the whole book: Trista: I hate you,I hate you, I hate you, I vow never let you touch me again... yet every time he so much as looked at her, she was in lala lust over him and just could not control herself... Lance: Your head tells you no, your body tells you you want me...I will show you that you can't say no to me with a kiss... right into sex scene. This was the theme of the whole book... over and over. So much going on with this book, the brother, the father, the uncle, stepmother and everyone else they know, yet everything works out perfectly. The good guys live and get HEA, the bad guys die. The end.
I loved this book. Trista was captured by Lance, a half breed Comanche. They ended up falling in love and married. Lance also caught a horse, Fergo, but the horse escaped and is now free. I would recommend this book, and I know I will read again.
4.5 stars. This was my first book by Bobby Smith and I really enjoyed it. It was great and I definitely will be reading more of her books. Really liked the hero, Lance, he was someone who suffered from his past and it drove many of his actions. However, I do agree with some of the other reviews the heroine, Trista, could be a little frustrating with the ‘I want you, I hate you’s’ but if she didn’t act that way the story would’ve probably been shorter. She did have grit though and I liked her. Thought there was good chemistry between the two of them. Although there’s nothing really new here I really enjoyed the plot and the action. There are a lot of secondary characters who bring a fullness to the story. It was a page turner for me and I’d highly recommend it if angst doesn’t grate on you.
Honestly, this was good. I couldn't put it down. I kinda got frustrated at how she kept denying obvious passion for this man but honestly a good frustrated like i just wanted to see the happy ending. I loved the way every loose end was tied up and it was a beautiful read.

I buddy read this one with @thevelarislibrary_ ♥️
I debated whether to give this a 4⭐️ or 5⭐️ because I really enjoyed reading this one. In true Bobbi Smith story fashion - this plot is complex. A-LOT happens in this book. There are so many storylines happening at once and angles to each story. I really enjoyed this. Is the writing a little cringey? Of course. I don’t mind that tho.
The pacing of the book felt very long-winded. I enjoyed the story - yet felt this one took me forever to read. It’s 526 pages. A very LONG western romance story. I was invested - but felt the story could have wrapped up if the FMC hadn’t been so back and forth. But I guess that’s the point?
That’s the thing about riding the NO CONSENT line with these vintage romances. Or maybe it’s Bobbi Smith books? The FMC says NO! But wants it? 🌶️ She went back and forth in her fight and desire for this native man - who happens to be her fiancés half brother. The entire read. I hate you! I love you!
A lot of love triangle drama in this one. I mean = one woman and two brothers. 🔥 Plus two jealous side chicks. Lots of drama here.
Bobbi Smith is 💯 one of my favorite vintage romance authors. These books are just 👌🏼 for me. I love her writing style + her story plots. She’s actually the author that got me into reading vintage romance. I owe her for my current obsession. 🔥
I’m so happy I got a copy of the 1988 edition of this one. I had to order online and pay $$ for it - which is more than I would normally do - but did it anyway.
Overall a good western themed Native man romance. Just a little long winded. 💫
I love the Native Man-White Woman trope. 😬
These romances are just as good as current smut books because the spice be spicing here. 👀 The details.. 🔥
You’ve got to read this book!!! Bobbi Smith is an awesome author! Usually when I read an author’s books I pick my favorite stories however with all the books that I have read by Bobbi Smith I simply can’t decide because their all awesome! This story is different! The characters are wonderful and the historical information is accurate and what people went through because of prejudices was terrible and too think we still have this issue today! Anyway read this story you’ll truly enjoy it! HAPPY READING!!!😊
This was a riveting tale of family ties, blood ties, and greed. Lance Barrett was sent at a young age, to live with his Commanche uncle, Lone Elk, when his mother died of a sudden fever. His broken-hearted father eventually married again, and had another son. The two boys (men now) met under unusual circumstances and fate took over.
Bobbie is or was one of the best Arthur s of her time. I say was cause I had heard she had passed away. I hope I'm wrong but I love her books and had read most of them more than once.I love how she brings the characters to life. GREAT Arthur.
I tried to get into this book but it was boring. The storyline was a great idea and I loved the time with the Indians. But all the characters did was whine and cry. I couldn’t stand Night Lark and would have liked to see her end up happy.
For the most part, I liked this book, it was pretty steamy, yet I really HATED how Trista, kept talking about how she hated Lance and despised him over 3OO pages into the book, it got pretty annoying.
I enjoyed reading this story. I gave it 4 stars as it seemed to be missing something. Second reading this story and as before it seems to be lacking in something. He is a half breed and when his mother died his father in his grief neglected his son. The son goes and lives with his mother's people. His father remarries and has another son and as years go by the second son is now engaged. She is from the east and comes to live on the ranch. On rider out alone she sees the famous wild stallion and gives chase. This is how she meets the half breed. She becomes his captive.
