Hayden, Origin of the Liefson Bloodline, has always wanted the kind of love his fathers have. Except Hayden was born with the ability of ætla, which fills his head with everyone else’s thoughts and emotions—and he thinks death might be the only escape.
Then, Nikita Kuznetsov, heir to the Stone Guard Clan, offers Hayden a reprieve. Niki doesn’t broadcast like everyone else, and Hayden gets a glimpse of the peace and closeness he’s been yearning for. But falling for Niki has the unexpected side effect of waking Hayden’s latent dragon spirit.
Learning that Niki is his fated mate is the happiest day of Hayden’s life, until their bond lights the fuse of a decades-old threat. As fear and desperation explode, ætla drives Hayden to a risky bolt for freedom. One that may cost more than just his life.
The battle for Ragnörak finally ends in A Fracture in Forever, the third volume in the Viking Bloodlines Saga, but the war has only just begun…

Ok here I am processed and ready first off i wanna start by saying the world building was PHENOMENAL like loved every aspect of it. But what I wanna really talk about is Niki & Hayden. The way they were so sweet on each other even in the face of all the obstacles they endured through this book. I can not wait to see where their love goes & how this story comes together. It had me hooked from the moment i opened it, i was unable to set it down and it still plays on repeat in my mind. I am waiting for book 2 so patiently 🤭🤭
A Fracture in Forever, book three in the Viking Bloodlines Saga, was really good. It took me a couple chapters to get back into the story, but I really enjoyed it once I did. This story, and its ending, left my emotions all over the place and now I need the next book!
A Fracture in Forever follows Hayden, the son of Markus and Faron from the first two books, as he navigates his magical abilities, discovers his mate Niki, and prepares for the battle for Ragnörak. His character and his abilities are really interesting and I really enjoyed his story. My heart really went out to him towards the beginning of the book.
Hayden’s dads, Markus and Faron, weren’t as involved in this story, which I was okay with, but they still played a big role in the final battle. It was cool to see them fighting and using their abilities again.
My favorite character was probably Niki. They were really well-written and made a great partner for Hayden. They were strong, powerful, and protective, yet so caring and tender. Their connection with Hayden was so beautiful to witness. I’m excited to see how they navigate whatever happens next.
This was SO GOOD. I loved the time jump and the focus on Hayden and Niki’s relationship was absolutely perfect. Hayden was an insanely interesting character and he had so many layers to who he was. His struggles to learn to cope with ætla were really intense and Niki being a balm for his years-long struggle was really beautiful. Niki was completely amazing. I loved that they were so sure of who they were and never let anyone get away with disrespecting them. Hayden’s dragon spirit and its bond with Niki’s dragon spirit added a really cool level of depth to their relationship. Faron, Markus, Sasha, and the other characters from books one and two were also present and very instrumental in the events unfolding the way they did. There’s a couple of really devastating moments in this that had me sobbing. This was an immensely enjoyable read and I can’t wait to see how the Viking Bloodlines Saga ends in book four!
This series has completely blown me away, and I’m genuinely not ready for it to end—knowing there’s only one book left hurts a little. Sam Northman has created such a rich, immersive world that it’s going to be incredibly hard to say goodbye after book four.
What sets this series apart is its masterful weaving of Norse mythology, intricate storytelling, and unforgettable characters caught in high-stakes conflict. While the narrative escalates toward epic, end-of-the-world clashes between good and evil, at its core it’s a story about belonging, sacrifice, and love—particularly the kind of unwavering bond where mates would risk everything for one another.
While the first two books focus on Markus and Faron, book three shifts the spotlight to their son, Hayden—aptly named The Origin. We’re introduced to him briefly at the end of book two, but here his story truly begins. As the start of a new bloodline, Hayden’s powers are immense, unstable, and potentially devastating. Watching him struggle to control them is compelling, but also heartbreaking—especially as he chooses isolation as a way to cope, pulling away from the fathers we’ve come to love.
Then Niki enters the story, and everything begins to change. Unlike everyone else, Niki’s mind is quiet to Hayden’s aetla ability, making Niki a rare sense of calm in his otherwise overwhelming world. Their connection brings a softness and balance to the narrative that feels incredibly meaningful.
We learn that Niki is a non-binary character who is also deaf and communicates through sign language, adding a meaningful and beautifully handled layer of representation to the story. I absolutely love that the entire dragon clan learns to sign—it’s such a thoughtful, inclusive detail that speaks volumes about the care and depth of the world and its characters.
Niki becomes a source of light for Hayden in a life that has largely been defined by fear and isolation and watching that dynamic unfold is one of the highlights of the book.
There’s a lot packed into this instalment—it’s fast-paced, action-heavy, and constantly moving, yet it never loses its emotional core. The balance between plot and character is handled really well, making every moment feel impactful.
But fair warning: this one hurts. I was not prepared. I was not emotionally equipped. This book put me through. Be prepared to feel everything—from despair and grief to hope, love, and hard-won victory. The found family elements shine, the losses hit deeply, and the love that ties these characters together remains at the centre of it all.
A powerful, emotional, and compelling continuation of a series that just keeps getting better. And I am absolutely not ready for this series to end.
Epic series! Getting to spend the last 3 days in this phenomenal world Sam Northman has created was spectacular. They combine rich storytelling rooted in Norse myths and legends, with strong characters you’d never forget and layered plot lines coalescing into end of the world battles between good and evil, underlined by belonging and sacrifice and mates who would do anything for the one they love.
While I’ve read these books in order, the way Northman writes this third book is in a way where you can pick up the series here.
While the world building is intricate, detailed and there are a host of characters not just our MCs Hayden and Nikki, the pace is sublime and understanding is seamless and effortless, flowing beautifully. Expect to be swept away, expect to feel the despair , taste victory, rejoice found family, and hold grief and loss and revel in the love that binds all these characters
At the center of it is Hayden and Nikki’s love story, they are keeper and Origin first, mates then and finally lovers. Their love is quite beautiful instinctively protective, sweetly clingy and very affectionate- it was lovely to witness. I also have to mention I loved the way Nikki, who is a non binary character and also Deaf was represented through out the story!
I adore Nikki, they are goals! Like literally I want to be them when I grow up! And the Primal, don’t get me started - how epic and cool! Then there is Hayden, need to coddle that man, he needs all the love, I loved his journey with the ætla - kind of symbolic of the struggles of life isn’t it.
The end ngl gutted me at first, like cried copious tears gutted me —- thankfully Sam Northman did not leave me hanging. I am not healed Sam but thank you for the bandaid.
Cannot wait for book 4. Don’t wait on this series. It’s unlike anything you have experienced and it’s one that’ll have an indelible hold on you once you do.
The strongest part of this book is definitely the characters’ inner worlds. Hayden in particular isn’t your typical powerful fantasy character. His “ætla” ability is written more like a burden than a gift. Being forced to constantly hear other people’s thoughts and emotions traps him in a mind that never goes quiet. Because of this, Hayden’s story often feels like the story of someone desperately searching for silence and peace.❤️🩹
This is where Nikita (Niki) comes in. Niki’s mind is an exception for Hayden; for the first time, he can actually feel real calm in someone’s presence. That’s why the connection between them isn’t just romantic — it almost feels like a vital need. The awakening of the dragon spirit inside Hayden only emphasizes how powerful and fate-bound this connection truly is.🤌🏼
The author’s writing style is also incredibly fluid. Before you realize it, you’ve already read several chapters in a row. The story moves so fast you barely notice the pages turning. It’s genuinely addictive. And the premise is exactly my kind of story: fated bonds, power awakening, mythology, and a plot deeply driven by the characters’ emotional journeys.🥺
But I have to admit… after the 65% mark, the book completely destroyed me. I couldn’t sit still. I honestly thought I was going to have a heart attack! The pace ramps up so much at that point that it’s impossible to say more without spoiling anything.🤯
In short, this book isn’t something you simply explain… you experience it. 🐉🔥📖
A Fracture in Forever is the third book in the Vikings Bloodline series. While it shifts focus to a new set of characters and includes a time jump from the previous installments, this is definitely a series that needs to be read in order to fully appreciate the story.
I absolutely loved this installment. The narrative moves forward in a significant way from book two, placing Hayden and Niki at the center. While Markus, Faron, and other familiar faces are still present, the story clearly transitions into the next generation. The sense of danger never fades—it lingers in the background, building a powerful story of hidden strength, sacrifice, and the courage to do what’s right.
The characters are complex and layered, and their relationships take time to fully unfold, which makes their connections feel even more real. Even in quieter moments, the pacing never truly slows. The tension keeps building, pressing constantly on the main characters and creating an almost relentless sense of impending doom.
The final battle, told through multiple POVs, is honestly a masterpiece—both in terms of action and emotional impact.
And just when it feels like things might settle… the story keeps going. That ending? A cliffhanger that made me cry, scream, and still somehow hold onto hope for what’s to come.
So far, this series has delivered a compelling contemporary take on Norse mythology, balancing modern storytelling with the eerie, timeless feel of the original tales. I cannot wait to see how it all concludes.
Another great entry in the Viking Bloodlines Saga. We jump in now with Markus and Faron's child Hayden at 22 years old. Hayden has been living a solitary life to protect himself and those he loves from the terrible power that has been growing inside him. He can no longer function in normal society because of the constant onslaught of people's feelings. Hayden has hidden himself away in the woods and has been secretly communicating with the witch that has been terrorizing his family. But she promises she can help him learn to deal with power that is destroying him. Hayden's plan is to attend the celebration for his birthday and the assigning of his gaetir, then he will leave everyone behind to go to Afelheim. Niki has been training their entire life to take over as alpha of the dragons and to become the gaetir to Hayden. What they didn't expect was to discover that Hayden has a latent dragon and is their mate. This book, as the previous ones, has great action scenes and excellent world building based on Norse mythology. The spice level is fairly low owing to the nature of Hayden's powers and issues with physical touch. But the scenes between Hayden and Niki have deep intimacy and are beautiful. I will warn that there is a death of a character in this book that hit me out of nowhere and hard. You will need to have read the previous books to be able to enjoy this one, but I highly recommend the entire series.
💕 This book has it all - dragon shifters, fated mates and the battle for Ragnörak. The Vala of Asgard and the Angel of Death. Thor and Loki. Wræca and Dark Elves. We travel to Dragon Island and take a trip to Svartalfheim and Asgard.
Sam Northman delivers once again with book 3 of the Viking Bloodlines Saga. Whilst books 1 and 2 centre around Marcus and Faron, book 3 begins the tale of their son, Hayden, aptly called the Origin.
We were introduced to Hayden at the end of book 2. He is the origin of a new bloodline and with that, his powers are strong, crippling, and potentially lethal. Learning to control them has been a challenge - one that he hasn’t mastered. For Hayden, isolation is the key. And that breaks our hearts as we watch him pull away from the dads we came to love in books 1 and 2.
Meeting Niki changes everything. I have so many things to say about Niki. They are the next generation of dragon shifters who played such a huge role in the first books. But Niki’s dragon isn’t just any regular dragon. And Niki isn’t just any dragon shifter.
When we learn of Hayden’s latent dragon spirit, it’s going to make you cry. Because I have been reeling about a certain something after book 2 and Sam Northman managed to redeem themselves with this twist. I absolutely balled.
Niki doesn’t hear and Niki doesn’t verbally speak. And the whole clan has learned to sign as a result. It’s the most beautiful sight - pure acceptance and adaptation. And not only that, but Niki uses they/them pronouns and there’s no need to say any more. Because in the book, it’s stated once and no one ever needs to be told again.
They are the Clan’s Alpha heir and sworn guardian of the Origin of the new bloodline. But they are also Hayden’s salvation. Hayden’s calm in the never ending noise. Niki is the light in Hayden’s world when all he could see was despair.
There’s a lot that happens in this book. It’s pretty non stop action and it’s perfection. And there will be moments where you’ll doubt if what you read actually happened. Did the author actually write that? But I will patiently wait for book 4 because although I don’t know how, I have confidence that Sam Northman will once again redeem themselves.
A Fracture in Forever by Sam Northman is book 3 in the Viking Bloodlines Saga and my favorite in the series💚🐉 Norse mythology has always fascinated me, but if you add dragons, fates mates and a little angst, I'm sold! Hayden, Origin of the Liefson Bloodline, has been struggling his entire life with his ætla, (which fills his head with everyone else’s thoughts and emotions) - that is until he finds them - Nikita Kuznetsov, heir to the Stone Guard Clan, his teeter. I absolutely adored these two and the intricate world in which their relationship blossoms! They were absolutely drawn and devoted to each other, and trust me when I say that I could go on and on about how captinvating this world is, but I truly feel like this is the type of read you need to experience by yourself for the full efect ! 💚🐉
Tropes:
⚡️Norse mythology 🐉 Dragon shifters 🔮 Fated Mates 💚 Deaf MC 🖤Touch-starved MC 🫣High Angst 💗Pining 🛟Rescue Mission
Every book in the Viking Bloodlines Saga keeps getting better! Book 3 is absolutely spectacular. Sam Northman continues to weave this magnificent tale filled with amazing characters. A Fracture In Forever picks up where book 2 left off and readers are catapulted directly into non-stop action. Hayden (MMC) and Niki (MXC) come together in a way that will change everything. I love this relationship and the development each of these characters go through. As always, Sam gives readers wonderful queer representation, including Niki as a main nonbinary character. As well, Niki is deaf, and the disability rep throughout the story is important and beautiful. And found family is my favorite trope, which permeates this whole saga. Yes, Bloodlines are obviously important. But blood doesn't always mean family.
This was my first dive into this beautiful world. So there are two things to know 1. I will be reading the previous two books asap 2. I need book 4 like I need my next breath
This is a wonderful story inspired by Norse mythology with Dragon shifters, magic, and fated mates.
I loved the dynamic between Niki and Hayden so much. This book took traditional couple gender dynamics and flipped it on its head (which I love as someone who doesn't conform to them). Hayden's need for someone to be able to reach him, love him, and protect him from the power that has isolated him, his whole life.
I think it was incredibly powerful to write a character like Niki whose 'type' is often portrayed as the one that need protection or is seen as weaker because of them owning their feminine side and instead making them confident and powerful, a carer and a protector. It was beautiful to read.
A Fracture in Forever is the third book in the Viking Bloodlines Saga.
Hayden has struggled his whole life to control his aetla. It has always been out of control, and this has led him to distance himself from others—especially his parents.
He returns home after years away, only to find Nikita and the dragon clan.
This is where a story full of adventure, love, and revealed secrets begins to unfold—with an ending that leaves you emotionally overwhelmed. (I cried my eyes out.)
The romance between Hayden and Niki is wonderful, full of acceptance and passion.
I've said this before, but I'm a huge fan of Norse mythology, and I love how it's handled here—it serves the story without losing its essence.
More than ever, I can't wait to read the fourth and final book .
“There isn’t a them and a me. We share a body—and a mate. You’re our Alpha Mate, Hayden.” Niki’s claw-tipped fingers press firmly into my chest. “I want you and your dragon. The Primal wants you and your dragon. We want you. All of you.”
Fated mates.
Dragons.
Norse Gods.
This book has it all.
I loved Niki and Hayden and their story was absolutely epic and magical, and I can't wait to read the next book in this series.
If you are like me and love the worlds of Norse mythology these books are for you!
Hayden and Niki were absolutely wonderful characters, well-written and complex personalities. Their journey had great unexpected twists and turns, following along with them made for a fantastic addition to the series.
WOW this was the most amazing book I have read in a long time. Thank you so much for this Arc copy I was blown away. If you like a book with Fated mates, dragon shifters, Norse Mythology, and absolutely phenomenal world building this is your book. Nikita aka Niki and Hayden were absolutely the sweetest together. I love how much they loved each other no matter the situation. There was a lot of amazing things that happened in this book. I cannot wait to see how their love progresses. Overall, this was a phenomenal book and I look forward to many more.
If you like mystic storylines in combination wit northern mythology than this book and the entire series is for you.
I received the book as an ARC directly from amazing Sam Northman, thanks for letting me part of your world. 🤩
This is book 3 of the Viking Blood Saga and it is darker and was even more emotional than the first two books of the series. I was in tears 9% into the ebook and it got worse towards the end, but that is just, because I fell in love with the characters right from book one onwards.
Such an emotional rollercoaster, but the way I love. ❤️
I really enjoyed Hayden and Nikita’s story. It is so unique and keeping with the series themes.
Hayden’s emotions, hurts, and struggles really come through at the beginning making the cooling balm of Nikita’s presence and touch even more profound. They struck me as a ying and yang, one is not whole without the other. Nikita is so caring yet a total baddie at the same time, clearing showing why they are the alpha. I love their fierce protectiveness over Hayden.
I loved how a bulk of this book was with the Stone Guard clan on Dragon Island. I enjoyed learning more about them and dragon politics and how important the dragons are to this story.
The plot was great, continuing the saga of Wræca. This book is adventurous with great love and great heartbreak. While this book revolves around Hayden and Nikita, Faron and Markus are very much present and play an integral part in the ending. Ahhhh Ragnörak. Fair warning dear friends, it’s gonna get brutal.
I am much looking forward to the last installment in the series.
I absolutely loved A Fracture in Forever. Hayden and Nikita’s journey had me hooked from start to finish the emotional push and pull between them felt so real, and watching their relationship grow was incredibly satisfying.
I also really appreciated how Nikita being deaf was represented. It felt thoughtful and respectful, and there was a clear understanding of their experiences rather than it being treated as just a plot device. That added an extra level of authenticity to the story and made me connect with him even more.
Also… I’m officially obsessed with Nikita’s lingerie. Every scene with it had so much personality and confidence behind it, and it just made me love Nikita even more.
If you enjoy emotional MM dragon shifter romance with great character journeys and meaningful representation, this one is definitely worth reading.
