Very dated, of course. I mostly enjoy her style, which is quite different from contemporary anthropological work. At times patronizing, it often feels instead right on the money. Powdermaker seems to know what was what, what going on around her was worth paying attention to. The resulting topics cover a broad range. The chapters on radio and especially on film are worth the price of admission.
