Senior year had finally arrived. Michael, Kyle, and Corbin thought it would be a breeze. That was, however, until they met the new girl in school. Amara is shy and kind of quiet, but the guys she met on her first day at a new school seemed nice…a little on the rugged side…but still nice. Now the original trio turns into a quartet, and one of the guys has fallen head over heels. But does Amara feel the same, or will these feelings ruin a newfound friendship? Find out in this story of high school drama, where the new girl just wants to be…One of You.

This book was written by my high school friend, Angel. The book hits upon many teenage themes, such as young love, eating disorders, bullying and name calling, friendship, divorce, etc. Knowing Angel's voice, it is a heartfelt and honest book dealing with real situations and real emotions.

On the downside, the situations in the book move rather quickly and conflicts are often resolved in the same chapters. Another thing that this author could possibly do in future books that she did not do in this book is weave the problems together throughout the book, rather than introduce conflict and resolve, introduce next conflict and it's resolution, etc., as she did in this book. It also lacks proper editing, but mistakes are few and far between.

This book would be good for teens who like shorter books or prefer books from ALA's Reluctant Readers lists.

This book, the first in a series of four (and the first ever published by this author), shows great potential and heart. With more development and experience, Angel proves to be a promising author.
