From New York Times bestselling author Evelyn Adams
Luke Masters is falling in love with Claire English and he doesn’t like it. The billionaire developer is far more comfortable giving screaming orgasms than tender kisses, but his sassy electrical contractor wants both. With Claire knocking down the walls around his heart and someone wrecking things on his jobsite, his whole world is shifting. For a man used to making things go his way, he’s feeling unmoored.
When a trip to a private club awakens Claire’s curiosity, Luke is determined to bring her fantasies to life. But is it a dream come true or a way for him to retreat from the love he’s afraid of and into the pleasure he knows so well? As simple sabotage escalates to possible murder, Luke and Claire have no choice but to trust each other completely or risk losing everything.
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Evelyn Adams loves coffee, her kids, Netflix, and books. Not necessarily in that order. If she's not writing steamy romances, she's chasing kids, reading, or binging Mrs Maisel
I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review.
Where do I start? I loved Wired ( the 1st book in this series) but this second book is just AMAZING!!!! I loved Luke from the start, but now that I know him a little better I'm totally blown away! Clair is just wonderful, she's so strong and always tries to find a way to deal with things without letting it get her down. In this second book we see how Luke and Clair fall in love and how each is dealing with all this new feelings and how they each think the other feels. I love how Luke tries to deal with his inner battle regarding love and what he thinks love will do to him. I love how Clair tries to understand and excuse his behaviour even though she's not fully aware of his past life as he's not been willing to share that part of him with her so far. At times I wanted to slap Luke and I found myself shouting at my kindle, every time he tries to push Clair away.......I even had a few tears and found parts hard to read. Aside from being a great love story I love the I like the mystery and intrigue too; who is behind what is happening at the construction site? I'm not sure how on earth I'm going to be able to wait until June for Won.....the last book in this series.
This story could have been so good, but it fell short. Whether it was shoddy editing/proofing or what, there were little details that were just wrong. Prosecco sparkling wine is not "proseco". Carhartt work clothes are not "carhart". Small items, I know, but they should be correct! There was an opportunity for a really good bad guy, but that whole thing fizzled, and the ending?!?!? Luke's big closing scene was given ONE PAGE!!!! It was like a mugger was after Ms. Adams and she had to rush to get to "The End" before he caught her! Luke's whole life revolved around his inability to love someone and he was given ONE PAGE to turn it all around!
While there were many good parts to the story, this could have been so much more.

I can't stress enough how wonderful it is to have a strong, competent, mature heroine. It's such a change from idealistic, simpering virginal waif type female leads. There's a full bodied lustiness to Luke and Claire that is missing in 99% of the books I read. No stupid misunderstandings that usually occur in these types of books. The heroine that realizes she will most likely never get her lover to change his view on what Love is...knowing all of this, Claire will still tell Luke I love you and she can differentiate the fact that to the best of his capabilities Luke loves her, even though he can't voice the words. When the break finally happens, it's timing is right. While I am never one to shy away from a menage relationship, when Claire asked Luke if HE was sure, I think Claire was sadly accepting of the situation. Luke let it progress much further than I had anticipated so he lost a hero point from me. What I would have loved to have seen would have been Claire suggesting to Luke that she and Eric needed some time together alone first and to exclude Luke for some portion of the menage. But that's me and not Evelyn Adams, I am also quite delighted that Ms. Adams is not dragging out this trilogy ala Sylvia Day...Gideon who?????, Great job. Great Book, characters, storyline and the mystery still waiting to be solved. I would recommend this book to discerning readers who don't give five stars to every piece of trash they read. all you three star and under readers this is the series you have been pining for.
To be honest I thought I was going to be disappointed I waited ages to get my hands on this book and for me it didn't grab me straight away, then wham one of her crew is dead fallen/killed? He takes her to a sex club which turns her on and boy do thing's get hot. He's still trying to deny his own feelings and surprised her with a threesome him Eric and her but he couldn't go through with it then she gives him an ultimatum and still he couldn't say the words. Once he's asleep she's out of there and when he find a her she tells him good buy and to stay away from her. Though heart broken she carried on. This book had me in tears he was heartless yet she surrendered her whole self and he just took. What will book 3 bring, will they find out who has it in for her, will she and Luke make it through and will I need a big box of tissues. I recommend this book
I loved this story from Book 1 through to the end! I literally needed to see how they fought eachother. The characters are so different and yet their stubborn independent streaks are so adorable. The way they get on each other's nerves and yet they can't seem to get enough of each other. They get protective of each other...doubt each other...love each other. LOVED IT!
Luke had a rough childhood, and had decided early in his life, loving some one was just wasn't worth the heartache. However, his feelings for Claire had him at odds with his usual ideas. He couldn't bring himself to admit his feelings, but he didn't want to see her gone, either. Until... well that's where you need to read the author's rendition of this story. It's intriguing!
What an amazing book! This is my second by this author - 2nd book in the series - and can’t wait to read the next! There ‘s tons of emotion, angst and steam wrapped up in an excellent storyline.
The mystery is what makes me keep reading each and every word. Luke and Claire are a darling couple 💑. Just wish you would have put all these books together ❤. Great 👍 job so far.
This story is full of questions. Hints of sabotage, plots of demise, lots of questions. Bit just who wants to hurt someone else. The intrigue, mystery and lots of passion for the main characters Wow. Awesome story!
Another short series read that I am throughly enjoying. The plot, characters and setting leaves the reader wanting for more and certainly introduced me to a whole new world.
*I was offered this book for my honest opinion and review*
I love this storyline and the characters in this book! Just when I think I know what's going to happen next, the author surprises me with a plot twist and I get more engrossed with the story.
Luke Masters can no longer deny that he's falling, and might even be, in love with the beautiful and feisty Claire English. He's done the thing he thought he would never do, love someone again, and he knows he's screwed. While he knows he would do anything for Claire and that she owns his heart, he can't help but try to distance her from his heart in an attempt to prevent it from being broken again. But will this push Claire away, or force him to face what he's feeling?
Claire English is in love with Luke Masters, but she knows he will never say those magical three words back. She knows he cares for her, but somewhere deep down she knows he doesn't feel the same way she feels about him and probably never will. Luke is damaged, she knows that, but as he pushes her away from lowing down his shields to his heart, Claire will have to ask herself a tough question: Is Luke worth it? Or is she destined to be the only one to leave this relationship in heartbreak?
I really enjoyed the first book in the series and although I enjoyed this book, I didn't like it as much as I did the first one. I know Luke has demons in his past chasing him, but every time he distant himself from Claire, even emotionally, I wanted to smack him! Ugh! I wanted to yell at him to look at what's in front of him and realize Claire could be his everything, but Luke had to see that for himself. I did like the parts where Luke admitted his feelings to himself and loved seeing everything from his point of view. He was so protective over her, which made me love him even more than I did in the first book! I also enjoyed the main female character, Claire, because she was daring, charming, feisty, and never backed down from a fight, especially when it was to protect/defend something she was passionate about.
I recommend this book, and this series, to everyone!
My favorite quote:
"...branding her even as she stole what was left of his heart."
Wanton, is part 2 of a 3 part series and before you read it make sure you read Wired as it picks up minutes from where Wired ends.
In this book both Luke and Claire are in love. We learn a lot more about Luke’s life and we see how broken he really is. He fears love and this book is centered on him finally accepting that he loves Claire forever. Mixed into this book is the big mystery about what is happening at the construction site and the call that happens at the end of Wired that begins with Wanton.
I LOVED every second of Wired, Luke is hot and sexy and treats Claire wonderfully. You can see they both fall for each other. Wanton, is different though. Some parts were hard to read though necessary to show how hard Luke fights the claim Claire has on him. Wanton is the things Luke exposes Claire to in his effort to distract and push the envelope with Claire and push her away from him and his heart.
Does he succeed and what about the strange things happening at the construction site? You will have to read to find out. While at times I wanted to slap Luke, the story was never boring and was one action packed story. I really could not stop reading it. The whole storyline was better than Wired just because it was so action packed and pushed things a lot.
I now can’t wait for June when WON comes out. I think it will be the best one yet.
*Disclaimer: I was provided an ARC by the author as she heard I was a big fan of Wired. I have also read her Southland Series and love that series as well.

Book 2 is even better! This is a 3 book story. This book had me tearing up for both Luke and Claire and what they have experienced both in the past and are currently experiencing around them and with each other. There is strong character development both in the primary and secondary characters. Love the storyline. There is a love story as well as a mystery.
Claire continues to fall in love with Luke. After persuing her to no end, Luke discovers his deep feelings for Claire and starts to distance himself. He makes some decisions that completely push her away and he realizes he can't live without her. Claire and her company are being looked at by the ATF for some ammunition that showed up at the job site. There also have been threats against her. Luke will do whatever it takes to keep her safe, but her heart needs protecting from Luke.
Loved part 2! Excited to finish their story in book 3.
Luke & Claire have my heart, watching their relationship grow was amazing. He is definitely the guy whose actions speak louder than words, Because apparently the words I love you won't come out of his mouth. It's a darn shame that he doesn't see what his actions tell everyone, he really is such a sweet loving Alpha. And Claire is truly an Alpha female only bending (not breaking) to her Alpha. I took a star away because at times it seemed to move a little slow. It took me a couple of days to get into it and get back to where I loved all the characters again. I will be looking forward to book #3 Won when it releases.
I absolutely loved wired and couldn't wait to read Wanton. I fell in love with Luke in wired and now we have got to know more about him he's definitely in my top 5 book boyfriends. Clair is do strong and I admire that in her character.
In wanton we see Luke and Clair fall in love but of course Luke I'd battling with his inner demons when it comes to love and Clair tries her best to understand him even after he keeps pushing her away.
I am not afraid to admit I cried reading this book and expect to cry more in book 3 as well as getting answers to what is happening at the construction site.
*************ARC for honest review****************
Well written. HOT, strong, sexy, alpha male protagonist Luke has definitely met his match in Claire! Whilst he only does sex, and does it well. She wants it all, and is strong enough to get exactly what she wants or walk away. Great to read a strong female lead. The story is fun and feisty and sexy, with other sub plots going on in the background. No cliff hanger at the end, but looking forward to part three.
Wow - this just gets better and better. The chemistry between Luke and Claire is so hot. She is falling in love with him so much but will he return his love? Investigations still going on, people to worry over and grieve for. Then Luke does the ultimate beyrayal...wants to share her with Eric..oh no. That's it..enough. Claire leaves and I don't blame her. What will Luke do now.
Didn't review first book as didn't have time but this second book did not disappoint at all. The two main characters are very likeable especially the female character who is savvy, independent & has a great loving character. Can't wait to read the final book
Having read Wired I just had to continue with the story. Claire is such a strong woman, and Luke is such an idiot, you ache for him! This story gets quite exciting, and a bit dangerous. Looking good for a fantastic finale in Won, which I am going to start reading right now!
Very good 2nd book of Claire and Luke! Very well written that it pulls you in and am so excited to read book 3. Thank you for not making this series actually books and not 25 to 45 pages.
