The Forgotten Ship #5

The Hidden Ones: The Forgotten Ship, Book 5

From a world unknown to any.

With their main enemy among the Jontihem in disarray, Drake and Yukiko must act against the city of Kiros before their foes get their feet back underneath them. It's time to turn them against one another. Only before they can get started, there are rumbles from below the city of Atlantis. It seems their explorations have awoken something.

A voice whispers from nowhere.

Trying to juggle the critical work of protecting the city, Drake and Yukiko have to balance that with getting to the bottom of what is happening under their city. Is it the precursor to something dangerous? Who or what is behind it? What is its ultimate endgame? Millions of lives hang in the balance, and the wrong answer to any of the questions could prove deadly.

Telling truths deeper than the gravity well of a black hole.

Good Read

Drake and Kukiko are are striving to build a home for over 3 million humans stranded on the other side of the galaxy trying to coexist with the aliens on whose planet they wound up at. Humans are tolerated by these aliens except for a some criminal groups set on getting rid of humans. Drake and his team have been building up their security and using their skills and funds to work at removing the threats. At the same time, they are exploring an extinct species, known as Those That Came Before, finding 5 plus million year old relics and facilities that still function that also defies laws of gravity and science. There are many irons in the fire, requiring constant juggling and quick reaction to stay ahead of those that want the humans to fail. Did I mention that Drake and Yukiko have “kill orders” on them from different organizations? It keeps getting better!

Multiple plates are being spun as Drake continues running Atlantis

As you would expect running a city, multiple things need to be taken care of, but Drake has the added problems of The Authority, the Girks and the animosity from the neighbouring city, the assassins guild and of course money issues, as well as investigating the two remnants of civilizations beneath the city. Some are resolved to some degree, new allies are made and the name of the book may not become apparent until the end..at least it didn't refer to what I originally thought it did!
There is plenty of action, intrigue, suspense, revelations, romance and intelligent cats in this fun read.

A sequel that was way too long

Okay, the series is good. This part could have been shorter and makes a lot of parts tie together, but it's takes way to many paragraphs to get to the point. Poor Archie still doesn't have an avatar, even though he has built more remotes than anything else. Come on.

good read, but inconsistent

I’m enjoying this series and am looking forward to how it concludes. Unfortunately, there have been several plot holes/errors in most parts f the books to this point, but more in this one than others before. Most are minor, some significant. I won’t provide examples as that would present spoilers.

Great storyline! A lot of fun

A great plot line. Innovative and well thought out. Enjoyable context in another part of the universe with many adventures yet to come. Looking forward to the next book

I have to say, Yukiko is pretty badass. Now she's taking over and making her own posse. Cool.

Thanks Jeffrey Kafer for the audio.
