Dorm Game is book one in The Brazen Boys novella series by Daryl Banner. This is a series of nine novellas which can all be read as stand alones in any order.

dorm game daryl banner - Google Search

Michael first saw Andrew Knudson in his Intro to Psychology class in his sophomore year of college. He was instantly obsessed with the beautiful muscular boy. He didn’t have the nerve to speak to him but couldn’t take his eyes from him. On the day the professor assigned a partnership project, he couldn’t believe no one else was rushing to try to be Andrew’s partner. So he used all his courage and approached him. Little did he know that this was the beginning of a very different sort of partnership than he might have imagined. Andrew likes games and he likes to be in control. Michael was about to find out just how much Andrew enjoyed his control games.

dorm game daryl banner - Google Search

This was short and told completely from Michael’s point of view. This is so hard to rate and review for me. It was well written. But maybe a little disturbing. I didn’t like the way Andrew treated Michael during their “games!” There is definitely some things going on with Andrew, we just don’t know what they are. And the ending was very sweet. So, if you want a short, hot, read and don’t mind a little bit of sexy mind games, give this a try.

*** 5 SEXY STARS !! ***

Wow, really enjoyed this....

Michael is obsessed with his classmate Andrew....stalking and lusting after him. They are eventually brought together on a class project and so the dorm games begin.Andrew always has to be in control until Michael plays a game of his own which brings the two men closer together

I regarded it just as little,a light and silent laughter fluttering in my chest as I wrestled tongue and mouth with the boy of my dreams in my messy dorm bed

These two had great sexual chemistry...

There is no full on sex...just hand action and oral but it's still very erotic.

So if you want a quick, sexy M/M read definitely try this one!!

Meh. Control games. Not really my thing.

Michael is smitten with Andrew and they start playing 'games' in Michael's dorm room. Always by Andrew's rules though.

It's kind of titillating in parts, but there's not really enough description of events to call it erotica (a few BJ's and some hand action, very few kisses,) zero indication of feelings from Andrew, although Michael clearly wants more.

The end is kind of cute and hints that things will change as Andrew loosens his grip on the reigns of their games, but this one felt like it was in limbo land between PWP and M/M for me.

The story would have been more interesting for me to see what happened after "The End."

I've found the world's greatest source of renewable energy, and it is horniness.
Daryl is one of my all time favorite authors. Up until now, what I have read from him has been more fantasy storyline and less arousal based. When I found out he was going to write a sexy M/M contemporary, I couldn't wait to get my eyes on it.

I was not disappointed. He brought the sexy while still delivering that differently awesome 'Daryl' way of wording things.

Michael is kinda nerdish. He has the hots for Mr. big and muscular aka Andrew who loves to turn everything into a game. When they become partners on a project, the battles known as the dorm games ensue. Who will win, and does winning or loosing really get you what you want?

I found it to be a great read, fun and saucy.

Meh.

I confess: I like reading about control games. They can be totally hot if balanced with genuine emotion between characters and if the games fulfill some deep need for each party. But I never felt quite like Dorm Game got there; there wasn't enough sex to call it erotica, and not enough emotion to call it romance. Not really sure what this was.

Also worth noting that there's no on page sex - merely a couple of hand jobs, BJs, and two or three kisses.

The first in a series of novellas from Daryl Banner...author of The Beautiful Dead series and The Outlier series.
Each book is a complete standalone story and they can be read in any order.
The first installment is about two college students...one a cocky buff "player" (he likes to play games) and the other a more serious boy obsessed with his new friend and desperately in need of his attention.
It is sexy, funny and addresses the issue of men who can't be real with who they are unless they are forced into playing games with themselves and others.
A cool and slightly steamy new novella.

Michael horny with a capital H, and has eyes for the too-hot-to-be-true guy in class. Andrew likes to be in control and play head games, leaving Michael more frustrated than satisfied half the time, and only letting his guard down on one drunken night. Even though Michael gets into the games, he can’t tell if Andrew actually cares at all, and a guy can only take so much.

Dorm Game is a great quick read with an excellent balance of funny, steamy, and sweet. I can’t wait for more!

Seeing as I hate to give away the plot and some of my fellow reviewers have already done a great wrap of what kind of story this is I'll just tell you my thoughts on Dorm Game.

First and foremost you should know that this is a m/m story and if that isn't your thing than I would recommend you try some of Daryl's other awesome books like Outlier or The Beautiful Dead. I personally like to read romance in anything because when is love ever a bad thing?

Much flapping of arms and squeeing occurred when I got my hands on a copy of this book. I was obviously super excited and was not disappointed at all in the story. In fact i read through it all in no time.

This book is centered completely around games, mini bets with a winner and a loser and opens with Michael playing a game in order to study with Andrew. If Michael gets the answer right Andrew rewards him, if no its instead a punishment. And boy does this sound like an appealing way to study.

Dorm Game deals with the issue of men in this particular case (but I don't see why it can't apply to both genders), using the game to excuse the way they really want to behave. Where they use that they're drunk, drugged or lost a bet to perform an action that they secretly want to do. The viewpoint in this story is from Michael who cant help feel that Andrew always needs the crutch in order to be with him.

I found this to be an interesting perspective and one that I hadn't read before. I like Daryl's style, he writes well, its easy to follow and easy to picture in your mind. I actually had a sudden craving for a cheese burger in the middle of the story :P

My only complaint, which is of course not much of a complaint at all, is that its a shortie, it only took me an hour or so to finish. I always want more. Unfortunately I'll have to wait for the next book in the series in order to receive my next dose.

I was given a copy of this book by the author in exchange for am honest review.

Having read 3 of Daryl's other books, I had to ask if I didn't to be made aware if this book would make me sob in public because both Dead of Winter and Outlier: Rebellion caused such reactions. I was going to be around people, and I had to be sure!

...turns out that is NOT what I needed to worry about while in public. Because, gawd damn. This book has some shmexiness.

By some, I mean a lot.

And now I've been sucked into YET ANOTHER series by Daryl Banner. Damn him and his epicness.

Good fast read

What starts out as a Psych project using games between two twenty year old college classmates, turns into a game of tug of war for dominance for Michael and Andrew. I actually became fascinated by how everything had to have a winner and a loser when really, the end result was seemed like a win/win to me! Clever story and very well written ...

Okay, this is the second book in this.....catagory that I have read. I wanted to try something new and outside my comfort zone. This book could be classified as a M/M romance. Or maybe erotica. I am no expert in these kinds of things. But it really wasn't any different that reading about a straight couple.

I don't know how much more outside my comfort zone I can get with this book. If I am being completely honest with myself, I can say that didn't expect to like it at all.

I love when a book just shatters my perceptions.

This book had a pretty good storyline I think. The game aspect was inventive. It was intense and sexual. All good things right? I am still trying to identify all the emotions this book evoked in me. The words carnal and passionate come to mind when I think of this book. The cover was typical and attractive.

Characters:
Michael knows who he is. He is smart and open to try new things. Rational comes to mind when I think of his personality. Patient is a virture he tries to cultivate and succeeds for the most part. Until the game takes precedence over something he deems more important.

Andrew seems kinda lost and floating around. He needs strict structure to function and doesn't seem to know how to express himself very well without the rules. Always there must be rules.

Favorite quote which is the first line in the book:
I've found the world's greatest source of renewable energy, and it's horniness.

Read it. But only if you like good sex scenes.

4 Renewable Energy Stars

I've found the world's greatest source of renewable energy, and it is horniness.

This first line cracked me up. Truer words have never been spoken. Entire industries are built on this premise. Daryl Banner has it right.

Andrew and Micheal are in college. And boy, do they get and give an education. Lessons in control, mind games, pleasure and patience.

Michael wants to explore being who he is. He knows he's gay, but doesn't really know how to be gay. He needs a tutor. Badly.

But this is not the story of Andrew teaching Michael how to be gay. Andrew has a different agenda. He is an expert in games and wants Michael to play. But the first rule of the game is that you have to figure out the rules.

This was an intriguing read. It is my first Daryl Banner and I will probably pick up another. It is short and fun and makes you have to work for the rules just like Michael does. Who is in control of the play? That's the big question.

There are some authors who's work is so good that I will buy and read anything they write. Daryl Banner has become one of those authors. He genre jumps and each book has his unique voice with a small change to fit the books theme. His newest book Dorm Game, a M/M erotica, didn't disappoint and I loved it. I felt like a naughty fly on the wall in the dorms reading this.

With Dorm Game he delves into the world of college and the relationship between two men. Each one is completely different in their personalities but what they are building works. Just reading Michael's thoughts and insecurities I felt them like they were my own. Andrew, even with his strong, tough exterior you could tell he was dealing with his own insecurities.

Daryl Banner is a master with words. He has something for you no matter what your taste in books is. If you haven't read one of his books then what are you waiting for.

I was first introduced to Daryl Banner through his amazing Post Apocalyptic series, The Beautiful Dead and quickly became a fan of his unique writing style. I was intrigued to see how someone could go from writing about the undead to M/M erotica. As expected Daryl's Brazen Boys books are just as unique, and very sexy.

Dorm Game is a quick read about Michael, a college student and his fellow classmate Andrew. Michael has a huge crush on Andrew and when a class project brings the two together things begin to heat up. Andrew loves to be in control and 'play games' and Michael is more then willing to play along.

This was a fun, erotic short with an interesting mix of psychology and sexual tension (if that makes sense). I would definitely recommend this any fan of M/M erotic shorts.

Banner's short of two college boys pushing the envelope on game playing was light and engaging. Their interactions and (lack) of dialogue felt age-appropriate. Banner took a page straight from the Kora Knight playbook of how to pace a novella and the humor reminded me a bit of Nicolas Scott's campus-based novel. I was thrown off by a few early and glaring typos that had me doubting the quality of the writing and editing. On the first two pages were "The sweat...and the dim light...makes (sic) his powerful pecs glow..." and several end punctuations placed after closing quotation marks. However, I found fewer than a dozen overall, which is clean copy in the world of ebooks. Banner's now caught my eye with this first title, and I'll be moving on to read more from him.

This is my second book by Daryl Banner. I am becoming a fan of M/M reads thanks to his talented writing. Dorm Game was a delicious, sexy read. Daryl's writing has just the right mix of erotica and humor. This was a guilty pleasure for me on this Sunday morning. Michael and Andrew become partners on a psychology project. Andrew likes to turn everything into a game. Let the "Dorm Games" commence. "The game is played many ways, and in its end, we should both come out winners, shouldn't we?" Guess you need to read this sweet little read to find out!!!! Love the last line of this book!!! FIVE star read for me!!!!! <3

This story was HOT!! Games of the mind in the sense of psychology.. Michael was obsessed with Andrew, who was big and muscle bound at the point of stalking. Then they got together on a psychology project which started their unusual relationship. Andrew was into games...sex games, and he wanted control. The who thing made Michael confused as to what they were to each other.. Their extent of sex was only jerk offs. This was a really interesting and sexually exciting book. It's a short read, but I highly recommend it!! Mind Games can be Intense!!

This is a cute sexy hot little story written by Daryl Banner. If you've already read The Beautiful Dead series, Outlier or/and Super Psycho Future Killers, you do know that Daryl is a genius.
I love the way he writes, the way he plays with words and the way he makes me feel all these emotions I don't even know I have, somewhere... I was first introduced to Daryl via a post on FB from one of my favorite authors, and I simply trusted her.
Daryl's music also makes my days much better sometimes when things start getting rough at work. You should try it...
Thinking of work, I'm always amazed when people do that, because I can't... and that doesn't mean I don't know how to use my hands when it's needed!

My favorite excerpt:

"Yeah," he grunted, playing with a pencil in his hand. The way his fingers moved, making the pencil dance between them, among them, under and over them, I should've known right there how expert he could be with his fingers. He has clever fingers. Wicked fingers. Playful fingers...

No need to tell you what Dorm Game is talking about. First installment in The Brazen Boys series, I just hope there will be plenty of them, very soon.
But I want Outlier 2 first! Please, Daryl!

Another one for the road (translated from a typical French saying, I don't know if you say it that way, and honestly? I'm too tired tonight to check it out!):

My pulse blinded me, making my eyesight unclear. I wondered if my vision was the only thing all this excitement was making unclear. "I... I don't think they have a study specifically for that."
"That's what I want out project to be." The way he said it, I got the feeling there was little room for negotiation. It's always been Andrew's way or no way. It's Andrew's game or no game at all.
"Games, it is," I agreed.

Buy it, read it and ENJOY THE GAMES!

"No dicking around. No second tries or mistakes. If you don't respect the ruled, you respect nothing. If you don't learn discipline, you don't learn anything."
"Got it." Discipline. Discipline. Do you want to discipline me, Andrew?
"Now make your guess," he ordered me.
I smiled. "I already had. And I got it right,"

Just FYI, I was 24% in the book when I started writting this review.. LOL!

45%? Oh, God, I'm lost in my mind, dying... What the hell are inches in centimeters? And what are French authors so boring? Ugh, I need to move, find a hot, sexy and hot as hell biker, and live it all!"

52%?
"Stay still," he said, and his voice carried a lift of warning. "That's the only rule. Stay still or you lose."
"But it-!"
"And no talking. Wasn't I clear?" His face inches from mine, I felt myself breathing hard and heavy. My cock was so hard, I felt like I was leaking bad. I clenched shut my lips, clamped, tight, clenching and clenching.
His hand began to move again."

This was very enjoying light read for me. My Twinsie sis, Angie, suggested that I give it a read. Well it was a great recommendation. I usually don't spend a lot of time reading novellas mainly because I'm pretty greedy and almost always want more...LOL. This was my first Daryl Banner book and I loved his writing. I thought the story flowed well and I loved the entire concept of the plot.

Essentially this book is about two college men using games to explore who they are. Michael is comfortable with himself as being gay but has never really experienced a relationship much less much sex. Andrew is the hot hot guy that Michael can't seem to not stalk and want. A project in a class has these two guys working together and from there the game begins. Andrew likes to be in control and Michael is just the perfect man to help him learn that although he may need rules and discipline in order to feel in control of himself sometime you can be "played" playing your own games.

This story is very seductive and although it is short it most definitely will have you totally engaged in the first chapter. I loved the erotic teasing sex scenes that were sizzling hot. I also loved the dynamics between Michael and Andrew. They are both just looking for more and the journey to discovering it was a great ride. I hope we get to find out more about these two charismatic men. If you enjoy a short steamy read then go check this one out it is most definitely worth it.

Ok soooo I bought this book because of a couple reasons...1. My blog is focusing on MM books this month. 2. OMG the cover 3. OMG the hawtness of the synopsis and lastly 4. the price...I mean come on 99C for a novella of yummy...yes please!!

I sat down and read this book in about an hour so if you are just needing a quick, hot read then this is it for you. Essentially Michael is in stalker love with Andrew in his Psych class. He even goes as far as to literally follow him around campus one day. The Gods were on his side and he and Andrew had to partner up for a project.

Andrew is Mr. In-Control. He is Mr. Top foooor sure. We, along with Michael, are not even sure of Andrews sexuality and then he makes up "games" for the two of them to play which essentially get them naked. YUMMMMY!!! Andrew is a very focused man and will leave Michael high and dry if he doesnt follow Andrews rules...again super hawt!!

This is a really short book but I enjoyed the relationship that the two men build. I really loved the ending. I dont want to add alot to the review becasue it is a novella but trust me...hawtness and yummy MM loving. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

This book starts with a hot scene and ends with a tender scene...sorta. I haven't really grasped the whole concept of Andrew yet lol. Most of the story from the second chapter until the start of the last is a flashback. It's a bit obviously that is, but some readers can feign ignorance to the fact.

Our characters, Michael and Andrew, are about as different as night and day from an outward perspective; but inside, in their hearts, they are really quite the same, they just go about getting things done differently.

There's no sex in this book. If you were looking for some skin-slapping loving, you won't find it in Dorm Game, but you will find plenty, and I emphasize plenty, of BDSM style foreplay, which is a whole other level of hot.

Both characters are quite complex and very well developed, though I felt the story was entirely too short. I do hope Mr. Banner decides to revisit these two for another story, if for no other reason than us fans seeing how their relationship has evolved.

I would recommend this book to any lover of romance and the M/M genre of romance, it sure to please and be a favorite on the shelves.

I look forward to reading the next book in The Brazen Boys, and any other work Mr. Banner released and will release in the future.

I give this book 5 of 5 paws.

I thought this was going to be PWP really. But it turned out to be quite different.

Michael has a major crush on a fellow student in his intro to psych class, Andrew. He grabs thhe chance of partnering up with Andrew for a project in class and their relationsship develop from that and later into being roommates.

I really lacked Andrew's perspective in this. He came across as a bit of an asshole. Aloof and annoying - what's his deal? What's his back story? Why is he like this? How did the world fuck him over, in order for him to behave like this? Without any of these explanations, I would have definetely given up on him waaaaaay earlier in the story, had I been Michael.

The story ends on a HFN note, and since this is book 1 in the series, I am hoping that the author would return to Andrew and Michael at a later stage, preferably in a story with pov from both of them or from Andrew.

It's well written and there is a whole story here, despite the lack of length. Interesting read.

Short,hot and awesome.

These three words is all you need to know about this book...

ohhh and of course you MUST MUST MUST read this one!

This book is around mind games and the relationship between two men.
There is lots of teasing and touching and the book has some elements of Dom/sub
but sex and teasing aside the book was well written and it kept me captivvated to see what will happen between the two.
The ending of the book left me complete and with no questions and a sense of fullfilment.
Daryl has excellent way of writing and if you haven't read any of his books or you are not into M/M action you can try Outlier!

Another great book by Daryl Banner with M/M action only thing is that its a shortie!!!

The Brazen Boys Series is a M/M novella series. Each story is self contained. I read the three novellas in order. Books 1 and 2 I really liked. They were hot. There was tension, but it wasn't overpowering. Book 1 was very entertaining because the "jock" was a very in control and the "nerd" was so into him he couldn't stop, but the revelation at the end made it worthwhile. Book 2 was just as good as book 1 and I find myself hoping if Daryl decides to revisit and expand the Brazen Boys' stories, he'll choose book 2.Book 3 was okay, not my favorite, but not bad either. It just wasn't a particular theme I cared for with this type of story and I was left confused as to if the freshman was really someone else pretending to be a freshman. All 3 books are a quick, hot read and leave you satisfied, for the most part. They aren't heavy on plot, but there is enough to make the characters come to life as more than just something to titillate your fantasies. I'll be reading more as the series continues.
