I'm sure this would be a lot more meaningful if I had read all the Japanese authors referenced here. Apparently the superpowers are all derived from themes in their work. For example, the doctor who can heal only fatal injuries is based on Yosano's anti-war poem "Thou Shalt Not Die."
Preliminary reading list: Isumi, Demon Pond Akutagawa, Rashomon Nakahara, "Upon a Tainted Sorrow" Dazai, No Longer Human Nakajima, Tiger-Poet Kunikida nature poems
WOW that was an epic fight between Akutagawa and Atsushi. I find that action scenes in manga can quickly become way too busy and difficult to tell what's going on, but that's not the case here. I actually felt a little tense waiting to see what their next moves were going to be. Akutagawa's Rashomon is over-the-top but it's also used very cleverly with different blows - not just a bunch of crazy lines and hard-to-follow moves.
i feel like the manga is moving really fast, but i'm sure the animedid the same.
we finally saw chuuya in here muahahah!! i love him so much, it was good seeing him again. and there were some scenes with him and dazai that weren't included in the show that killed me. they are the best duo.
im surprised by how early a character was just intorduced and i'm curious if we get ro see more of him in the mnaga than we did in the anime bc of this.
Enjoying this. Love the whole idea of authors namesakes, personality and books being flooded into a new character. Great idea and I'm loving it so far.

Subo a las cuatro estrellas en este tomo porque la aparición de ciertos personajes-autores me han encantado.
AHORA SÍ QUE EMPIEZA LO BUENO. NO ME ACORDABA. ME ODIO. POR QUÉ LO ABANDONE. SOY IMBÉCIL.

I'm just not feeling it anymore. Will try again later. I bought like 13 volumes of this. I hope it won't be in vain. The art is awesome though. I adore the ones printed on the cover though it means I can't wrap the book properly. I am aware that dust jackets aren't meant to be wrapped with the books but it has been a habit. *shrug*
2nd read the shin soukoku in this... I'm so sorry but they're #truelove and soulmates and fated and all that jazzy shit. even in their enemies era they already hit like insanity and goddamn soukoku. never fails to drive me insane
1st read goddamn soukoku. they already got me i fear.
Wow. Excellent volume. Great (GREAT) character development, very engaging action sequences. The art is awesome, as always. Plus, the very end reveals the addition of European authors becoming characters in this series. So pumped. Full Constant Collectible review coming soon.
NEW CHARACTERS ARE INTRODUCED!!! We get to know who is responsible for the bounty on the Weretiger. Also, Dazai purposely getting caught and then teasing his ex-partner hahahah I'm so done with this guy🤣
I love the fighting scene between Atsushi and Akutagawa. The art is so captivating, bringing you the thrill of the fight! We can also understand their feelings from the dialogues on Akutagawa's desperation to win, and Atsushi's will to live. SO MUCH IS HAPPENING IN THIS VOLUME!!!!!!!
Imo, the three of them, Atsushi, Akutagawa and Kyouka just want someone to acknowledge them and tells them that it's okay for them to live.🥺
Quotes: 1. "I did not use her. I just made her worthy of living.
"YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO DECIDE THAT FOR ANYONE!"
2. "People can't live if no one tells them that it's okay for them to live!"
*Reread 11/29/2021* I think Akutagawa's jealousy is so funny. He's so intimidated by Atsushi and Atsushi doesn't know wtf is going on. I love Akutagawa. He's just a big homicidal baby.
*Reread 01/25/2020* It's already starting to be a little different. A little taste of an Akutugawa backstory with a splash of a certain character getting introduced a lot earlier. I'm excited!! Also I don't think Agatha Christie is in the anime? So that's fun.
