Augustine

Extremely short bio of a man who had a great impact on the world and continues to. It featured a brief description of Augustine's life and then mainly focused on summarizing his teachings. Before reading this book, I was mostly unaware of the Augustine influence on evangelical Christian thought. For example, the concept of and term "original sin" were something he developed. You won't become an expert on Augustine by reading this book, but it certainly is a good starting point in understanding his life and teachings.

altho not as contextual as Peter Brown's Augustine of Hippo, still a wonderful romp in Augustinian thought. a favorite line from Price: a man's will is now the uneasy president of a republic in anarchy; equivalent to disobedient subjects in a state are the instinctive drives within thr body.
