Have to say I was very disappointed. I had assumed it was a book stuffed full of powerful questions for use by coaches rather than a bit of a ramble to multiple audiences with a few handfuls of questions.

Great primer for question asking

Learning not to lead off with a “why” question was a big aha for me. I always wondered about my feelings during Root Cause Analysis. Now I understand.

Wow was this terrible.

Based on the introduction, the author is targeting several audiences: 1. people who don't know what coaching is, 2. people who are coaches, who will learn a lot of great coaching techniques from this book. That just doesn't seem like a combination that will lead to clear, useful information transfer. And while not mentioned in the introduction as intended audience, the second chapter seems aimed at managers who want to hire a coach in order to help teams perform better. The content framing changes frequently, even within paragraphs, and makes for a jarring and confusing read.

Also, there's a typo in the title of the book on the kindle edition's title page. I'm okay with occasionally typos in books - they happen even in ones from big publishing house. But it's pretty sloppy to not at least double check the title page.

Failed to deliver

I would not recommend this book. It felt like the reader was being talked down to. IT SEEMED LIKE THE AUTHOR DIDN'T KNOW WHO THE AUDIENCE WAS OR HAD SO FEW SPECIFICS TO OFFER THAT HE TOUCHED A FEW POINTS ON EVERYTHING HE COULD THINK OF.
