This book is a no punches pulled unheeded warning from 1983 that explains why public education in America in 2021 is such a dumpster fire. Reed explains, complains and exhorts readers to take action to prevent the takeover by the NEA of American public education. She explains how the Democratic Party became an organ of this public union, which exists to gain power and propagate radical leftist principles. If you are wondering why students today graduate with knowledge of intersectional feminism and critical race theory but can't identify the branches of the US government: read this book. If you wonder why schools produce graduates who vote for socialists despite its consistent failures everywhere it has been implemented: read this book. If you want to understand why minorities can't escape failing public schools by using vouchers to attend better ones: read this book.

Sadly, not enough people heeded Reed's warning of what a danger the NEA was to America. As a result, we have students who are indoctrinated rather than taught, learning nothing of substance and being inculcated with the amoral values of the radical left. Meanwhile, the Democrats pour billions of dollars into the salaries and benefits of teachers who are currently refusing to work until the entirety of the radical left's agenda is enacted. It's not a TEACHERS' union because they care about the students.
