This edition is a lot of fun. For one, the 1989 season saw Lemieux score 199 and Yzerman 155 points, so some of the writers' projections are generous, like Tikkanen having a shot at 50 goals or Rob Brown having Kurri-like talent. These earlier editions drive me crazy, however, because they refer to players by their first name. Just ... No. One thing I appreciate here that was abandoned later was the inclusion of line combinations and special teams units for each club. I also got a kick out of Lemieux's profile running over two pages because he was just so good. This also would not continue in later years.
Found this book at a used book sale for like $3, and it has proven to be an extremely invaluable resource in helping me compile all-time rosters for various teams, because I didn't live through the 80's, nor have I read a lot about that era.
It's extremely biased against francophone players, but pretty interesting!
