i just have a few things to say about this wonderful masterpiece of screenwriting goodness:
it's in iambic pentameter...yet doesn't seem stilted, pretentious, dull or gimmicky. AND it tells a multi-layered story about race/class/politics/love/difference/diaspora in a time where so many other screenplays are about 2 people stuck in a room, talking about one thing, and still boring the heck out of you as you wince at the painful dialogue.
and hellooooooooo it's IN IAMBIC PENTAMETER!!! (that still boggles my mind. it's not only a well-written script, it's a well-written script in a difficult meter. what is ms. potter going to do on her next project, tie her hands behind her back & type blindfolded in the style of a power puff girls cartoon for a challenge?)
I am a sucker for this film. Seeing the script makes me love it even more! I am a nerd for poetry. I dig on Shakespeare. I dig iambic pentameter and of course love stories, especially when the love stories are strange and vivid and steamy enough to make me want to read/watch them by my lonesome.
Good concept, average execution. The highlight for me personally was the mother's interior monologue towards the end of the film/script. It's every forensics geeks dream....
