I finally put this book to bed! I have only been reading it bit by bit for the last year. This book had a lot of great information, some stuff I knew some stuff I didn't. I found that the interviews that were conducted for this book with various investigators, physics, and psychologist were long winded and pointless. Yes, I think its great to give these people a platform to talk about their profession and what they believe, but do it in a fashion that is going to be some what engaging for the reader, break up the monotony of the subject a bit. Some of these interviewees were so long winded in boring that every time I opened the book and started to read I would only make it a few pages before succumbing to drowsiness and falling asleep, hence the reason it took me a year to finish.
I am being generous by giving this book three stars, when in actuality it probably deserves two. However, I also realize that not everyone is as knowledgeable when it comes to the paranormal as I am. So with that being said, this book is chalked full of information, if you can suffer through it you will learn something, but I warn you its like reading a text book at times. There are other books out there that you can read that not only give you better information but are more engaging as well. But they generally only cover one topic so in turn you would be reading multiple books on the subject over the course of time. This book gives you a crash course through the world of the paranormal in more of a learning environment.
If you are passionate about learning about the paranormal, do not read this book. Go get your hands on a multitude of books and learn every angle of the paranormal as much possible. However, if you only have a mild interest in the paranormal and want to learn a little more about it, but all means try this book... if you dare.
This book should have been more accurately titled: The Everything Paranormal Investigator Book, since it has very little to do with ghosts themselves. It's a wonderful read for a novice to learn the basics about paranormal investigation, however, the blurb and title lead one to believe it's going to be more ghost-centric. Like other reviewers, I expected this book to be full of tales, folklore, and legends of ghosts. Instead, it's nothing more than another "Idiot's Guide To...". Very disappointing.
