Outbreak The Beginning

Egypt, a single mother of three, wakes up one morning to discover something weird going on. People in town come down with the flu, but the virus isn't what it seems. She watches helplessly as her worst nightmare comes true. And whether she's ready or not every decision from now on becomes a matter of life and death.
Taking one day at a time, Egypt and her family must struggle with the new frightening reality of survival in a world gone crazy. Nothing could ever prepare her for the events about to unfold.
When the fighting and chaos threatens to destroy everything, Egypt fears she will lose those she loves the most. Will family and friends die an ugly horrifying death, only to return as hideous monsters, hungry for her flesh? And if Egypt does survive - what then? Can life ever return to normal for Egypt, and can she find love or will that be lost to her forever?

This is a romance novel much more than a zombie novel. Spoilers throughout....

Poor writing, and choppy dialogue and scenes make this a tedious read. Conversations come across stilted and forced. Main character's thought process is elementary, amateurish, and boring. And who deliberately goes jogging at the onset of the Z apocalypse? Our main character did, that's who! She also complains an awful lot about needing to do things to prepare but sits around thinking random thoughts and smoking incessantly. The amount of brand name dropping in here is atrocious and makes me wonder if authors get advertising money when they mention brand names. It definitely could have used a good editor or 2 for content and grammar. For example: first time moms don't feel a baby kicking until around 4-5 months along, not 3 months as expressed in this book and it is scleroderma not "scalera derma". I was so hopeful for this book, as I love zombie apocalypse novels, especially when someone is supposedly a prepped bad ass and is vindicated after the breakout, but this was painfully amateurish and I couldn't stop rolling my eyes, at some stupidity or other, at least every other page.

Also contains such plot devices as: inappropriate sexual behavior by an EMT with our main character 10 minutes after meeting, instalust, a love triangle, non stop flirting at completely inappropriate times, our heroine constantly needing to be rescued and saved due to her stupid actions, some stalker guy (Sal) entering unannounced into closed bedrooms and bathrooms where our heroine is doing her business (creepy not romantic!), very little actual zombie action, stereotypical overbearing male jealousy, and the idiotic decision to let bad guys live and just walk away even after they have made threats to you and know where you live.

I enjoyed this book. The characters and storyline grabbed me from the beginning, which made me want to read on. The story follows Egypt and her family as they get ready to survive life during an outbreak of zombies in their hometown. Egypt takes in the rest of the family and turns her home into a fortress to protect all those inside it. She stocks up on anything that is needed. She is tough, brave and a leader. There is also a romance for her along the way.

The writing needs some improvement but I am sure the author has this all worked out by now. It didn’t stop me from reading on because Egypt’s character was powerful enough to make me want to follow her all the way to the end of the book. I will read the next book because I want to find out what Egypt and her family will do next or rather whether they will survive or not!

OH WOW!!! Where do I start?!?!? I am so not a Horror/Post Apocalypse person. I stare clear of anything in this genre and when Deausha said she was writing this I was like "Don't expect me to read it." Well low and behold I did. BIG SURPRISE I loved it.

Egypt is a single mom of three. She has always been a little on the weird side lol. She worries about the end of the world. . She stocks up on anything and everything. Her family tells her she is nuts for this. Well it turns out that she was right. People started getting a "new " flu then it moved to upwards of ten thousand plus people.

Everyone seems to flock to her compound (Yes she was ready for this end of the world crap). She meets up with two guys Sal and Mack. They become part of the family. They help out when and where needed. They all keep watch let know one in or out. They only leave to go stock up on more stuff since the town is pretty much dead. Cars are just empty in the roads. Parking lots are full of empty cars. Stores are full of carts with groceries and its like Poof everyone is gone.

Omg you can feel the sexual tension between Egypt and Sal as well as between her and Mack.

For a new author she did an awesome job of pulling you in to her story. You get a real connection to the characters.

I so can not wait for the next book

Outbreak: The Beginning by Deausha Kristal is a worthy first book in a zombie apocalypse series. There is room for improvement such as too much everyday in-home stuff, but I am sure this author will learn and book 2 will really kick butt Walking Dead style.
Egypt is a mother of three who wakes up one morning to discover her once cozy world has been destroyed. School is out forever. Shops ransacked, food in short supply, National Guard have taken over but worst of all, people are being eaten alive by the undead.
She becomes terrified of losing her family so herds them all to her home with camper vans at the ready for a speedy escape. There is plenty of zombie action here and enough squeamish scenes to satisfy zombie fans. I am looking forward to book two.
I recommend this to all zombie fans.

Awesome story!

Being a fan of zombie apocalypse stories, I am always looking for new books about it. I am so glad that I found this one. Lots of action, excitement & zombies! I love the main character, Egypt. She is a strong woman and will do anything to protect her family. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of this series.

I love this style of book, unfortunately the writing made this very hard to read. I would still want to read the rest of the series as I liked the storyline but the dialogue between characters was a bit odd & some of the main characters thoughts just didn't make sense for the situation they have found themselves in. If your a fan of the zombie genre it is still worth the read.

Its a 2 and a half star but rounded up.
Okay it could be better . There are some flaws. She is so kick-ass but need
to be saved all the time.
First her daughter is 3 months pregnant and then
she feels it move so she is suddenly 5 months pregnant.
