Hi, I’m Jack Taylor, a romance author from Earth, who got snatched by the Grays when I was camping. After being rescued, I first became a merc and then a Herald, trying to prevent an invasion of the Void Feeders that intend to consume the galaxy. I’ve seen them, and I’m here to tell you—if they’re not stopped, the whole galaxy is going to die.
I’ve now been named the Final Herald, and everything is on me. The Void Feeders are pressing ever harder, and the interdimensional fabric is getting thin in a number of places. The only thing that can save the galaxy is the Forge of Aion, but it requires the combined seventeen Heralds to make it function… and guess who’s supposed to gather them all up?
I’ve only got a month to do it, too, which—at first glance—is impossible since they’re all scattered across the galaxy, and it would take longer than a month just to travel to all of them. And have I mentioned that three of the races are extinct?
But I’m now a Level Six merc now, and I’ve got a cool spaceship and a great support team. If I can’t do it, no one can…which is actually the likely outcome, and the galaxy is probably doomed. But I refuse to go down without a fight, especially since I haven’t gotten to drive a mech yet!
For fans of Reluctant Emissary, Psyker Marine, Drone Ensign, and other military LitRPG science fiction.
You think you had a bad day ? Or week ? or month ? or year? Well consider this, you get abducted by aliens in the middle of the night, you get rescued by other aliens then you learn they can't bring you back home right away which means you kinda need to do something for a living. And oh, your rescuers are mercs, so hey, I am a merc... And then you realize that there is some weird stuff behind the scenes and all of a sudden you are thrown into the galactic limelight, learning of an existential menace for the whole universe... and get who the heck is supposed to lead the fight to save the universe? Gather lost races, solve ancient mysteries? ah and also level at some point... Commander Shepard? nope... Just you...Jack Taylor... So next time you want to bitch at your boss, just be happy you ain't ME! Want to know more? Read the book.
Still good enough, but only just The book jumps all over the place, which given the task, is not really surprising, but it could have been done better As it progresses, the task of finding the next Herald is that little bit more dangerous, but you.know the outcome, because it's only book 6 The climatic ending is as expected and the cliff hanger no real surprise. I'm amazed there's a book 8, book 7 seems as though it would be enough
And the adventure continues with lots of suspense, action, and ever-increasing group of aliens setting out to save the universe. Mr. Kennedy once again gives us great world building and entertaining characters in this military LitRPG science fiction story.
