edit July 2026: it seems the author has a website now. and there in "A Note on AI and Transparency" she admits the use of ai on several levels in her writing process and the development of her cover art. I appreciate the transparency but that info wasn't available when I read the book. I only had suspicions. thank you, martina for making me aware even if it's too late for us now to not read the book.

God I loved this and I wish there was more already! I would devour them all in one epic binge-read.
This first book sets up a cool premise for the series. The Ae’nari are colonizing Earth. And they are in need of mates. They discover that human males would do just fine for the job so they started recruiting them. And if they signed up, for whatever reason, they personally or even whole communities can benefit from their advancement in technology and medicine.
That’s how Tory came to the Genesis Partner Program, to save his sister. So he signed a contract. He got to the space station and the program began. It didn’t only involve extensive education on what will happen but also a medical/hormonal treatment that would not only change his biology to being able to carry his future mates offspring but also changes in his appearance so he (all of the participants, really) would look more Ae’nari. I loved that part. The growing of colorful scales, small horns and even a long, tufted tail.
But there was when I started questioning things. For some reason Tory developed quicker than the others, in some instances his body even reacted in unexpected ways, not seen by the medical staff before. But why that was, was not explained.
The second thing I was questioning lay in Tory’s behavior. He willingly signed up for the program, for the most part knew what he was getting into but then reacted with anger and refusal when things got real (and his sister already being in recovery). It was like when someone accepts money for a night of sex and then goes feral over the audacity when they start touching them. Made no sense.
I was into it still, ngl. All of it. The sudden and unintentional mating with Kaelen, second in command on the station, the side characters, esp. Joey and Noah and the closeness to all things omegaverse even if it was named something else.
As I said. Can’t wait for this series to continue. Esp after seeing a rogue Ae’nari running after Joey to claim him. *lol Please dear author, make smoke signs or whatever but let us know when the next one comes.
side note: I agree with Sully that in 2026 it is a risky move not to note in your book (or somewhere) a strong stance against genAI or that this work is fully human made, esp for debut authors who just started publishing—it’s an easy addition to make to your work. This author didn’t, tho. She doesn’t mention anything at all on the matter, doesn’t seem to have an online presence whatsoever and credits herself for the cover design. All valid things (not) to do, ofc, but even if I don’t want it to feel suspicious, these days, it sadly kind of does.

Yes, we were bonded—his mark mirrored mine, but the truth was painfully clear: whatever the bond meant to me, it meant nothing to him.

very slow beginning, vague and uninteresting world building. it’s a copy and paste of pretty much every aline book you might’ve already read. no originality whatsoever.

I love the cover but I really want to see what Tory looks like after his transformation from human to a gold-scaled fangy something with a big lizard tail with a fluffy tip.
Kaelen settled beside me, closer than necessary. His tail slid around my waist.
I should've batted it away.
Instead, my fingers found the little tuft of fur at the tip.
This was a very cute debut and much lower angst than I expected. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series.
Forked tongue alert:
I stroked the tip of his tongue with my finger. It closed around me, and my breath hitched. "Is your tongue forked?"
He grinned around my finger.
The forked tip teased beneath the head before dipping into my slit.

good but also annoying
I liked most of this story. I liked the characters, but Tory did confuse and irritate me with how resistant he was to the mating and Kaelen in general, like you’ve had weeks to wrap your brain around this now. Also, the lack of communication between them was infuriating and lasted until 95% in, so maybe skip this one if that’s gonna drive you crazy. Editing was good for the most part, a few areas where the dialogue was misleading about who was saying what. Spice was pretty minimal, they don’t make any progress on any aspect of their relationship until well over halfway through the book. 2.5 stars rounded up.

So this book I kinda struggled with. There were parts I loved and parts that I didn’t love. Most I felt bad for Kealen. He tried so hard after he found out. And not matter what it was wrong. So I felt bad. Tori had me upset in a few spots. Cause like dude you signed up. Why are you taking it out on Kaelen.
Other than that the writing was good the story was good, I loved the plot. And can’t wait to meet other mates.

The author's website includes a statement: How I Use AI in My Work. The author is openly admitting that she used AI to make the covers, help with editing, and help with "talking through ideas, checking whether a scene works emotionally, or untangling my own doubts when I get stuck."
The author admits that "some users disagree with any use of AI, and I respect that. The choice whether or not to read my work is entirely yours."
The choice was not mine when she did not disclose this information at the beginning of the book. The cover art statement says: "Formatting/Cover design by Marie Kristin Kammer, Cover Image created with Midjourney."

Ok so i gave it 3 stars until I heard of the AI use. Im so angry. I have not been able to read an authentic book in a while. Seriously...what happened to real books?
Besides that, Tory was absolutely insufferable. He signs a contract that basically hands over his life to save his sister and then gets angry when he has to fulfill his end of the deal...
I don't understand. You signed up for this. It was exactly what they warned you about. Why is he suddenly acting like he's in the right for being mad that he had to fulfill his side of the contract.
Kaelen had potential. He had some personality (key word: some) at the beginning of the book, I felt like I could like him. But all of that personality was completely destroyed by Tory. He was a soldier reduced to a nervous, meek, alien walking on egg shells all the time. A doormat. This man lived to be walked on by Tory (and not in the good way). Meanwhile Tory: i dont know how to feel. I like him but also fuck him, I hate him. He should die.

A lot happened within the last 20% of the book that just felt rushed and just generally awful.
Two stars because I did enjoy parts of the story, and the spicy scenes were great.

I liked the story and the couple. I wish they had talked and been open about their feelings sooner.
I think I'm always going to have problems with heat sex if one partner is new to it. But Kaelen did his best under the circumstances. And the conclusion was almost perfect.
I can't wait for another book in the series. I want to see the changes in how the humans are treated.

Now that we have the gist of what the premise is, couldn't finish it. Let me explain.
Like most 'alien' or 'other' stories, it devolve into the alien bending to the whims of their human partners. I've read FEW stories where the human conforms to the culture of their alien mates. The story ends up reading like a human couple with quirks vs authentic emersion into something different.
Human conveniences, absolute disregard for the culture they signed up to join, my way or no way, combative, I could go on. The alien is no longer....alien.
Tory signed KNOWING he would be genetically modified, KNOWING he'll be relocating to another planet, KNOWING he will be paired to an ALIEN, KNOWING he'll be leaving his family behind, KNOWING he will be joining another culture, another race of beings, KNOWING children is the goal. What does he do? Get on my nerves.
Does Kaelen mistreat him? No. Abuse him? No. Understood his feelings? Yes, eventually. He made an effort? Yes. I could understand wanting to be treated as a person, not an object. I agree. However, he signed a contract. The amount of unnecessary hardship was overdone. He didn't struggle integrating, we didn't make it off the damn space station. Maybe he did but at 72% in I don't see plenty happening.
He's no longer on Earth, no longer human, but the story read like a human couple that didn't understand each other. I couldn't finish it.
If anyone has any good recommendations where the human actually integrates, I'm all ears. I'm tired of the generic alien romance that isn't alien at all. I don't mind dark themes. Recommend away.

Strong start, just not a good fit for me
I picked this up for the gorgeous cover and was immediately hooked by the premise and strong opening. This is an alien fated mates/body bond romance that leans heavily into emotional tension and instinct-driven connection. If you enjoy an MMC who stubbornly avoids his reality and difficult conversations, this will likely work well for you—“You need to clear the air… Otherwise—what are you doing?” “Freaking out?… Avoiding difficult conversations like the emotionally mature adult I am.” For me, that dynamic became frustrating over time (person opinion: miscommunication from intentional avoidance is infuriating), and the pacing lost some of the depth it started with. That said, there’s clear promise here and this sci-fi OV world is interesting, especially for a debut. Hopefully book two has less wilful miscommunication trope.

The 1* rating isn't because of the use of AI, although that obviously bothers me as well. The 1* is simply because of the story itself.
To start with, I think it had potential. The world was interesting, and it could have become a great series. It didn't.
I'll begin with what I didn't dislike: Joel. I love that guy. Such a cutie.
Then Kaelen. I did not dislike him but... In his previous life, Kaelen must have committed some unforgivable crime, because nothing else explains why fate condemned him to an eternal hell in the form of Tori.
And now we finally get to our MC, Tori. I got through the second half of the book fueled entirely by my hatred for this character. Instead of decreasing, it just kept growing and growing until I had to skim the last 20%.
We were apparently supposed to feel sorry for Tori because of what happened to his sister and because of his childhood. Okay, sure. But the way he treated Kaelen, and the way he behaved in general, has absolutely nothing to do with his sister.
Tori is a disgusting excuse for a not so human being. He is the biggest hypocrite I have ever encountered in a book. I kept hoping he would spontaneously combust, but unfortunately that never happened. They could have launched him into space too...
Tori voluntarily signs up for the program. From the very beginning, he receives advantages and special treatment, yet he spends the entire time complaining. Then he proceeds to ruin Kaelen's life (Kaelen did not wanted him...) and somehow has the audacity to bully Kaelen over something that Tori himself chose.
Hypocrite. And a bully.
Tori is a vile bully toward Kaelen, emotionally abusive, and once Kaelen gets involved with him, he practically stops existing as his own person.
I honestly can't remember the last time a book made me this angry.

Then Kaelen. I did not dislike him but... In his previous life, Kaelen must have committed some unforgivable crime, because nothing else explains why fate condemned him to an eternal hell in the form of Tori.
And now we finally get to our MC, Tori. I got through the second half of the book fueled entirely by my hatred for this character. Instead of decreasing, it just kept growing and growing until I had to skim the last 20%.
We were apparently supposed to feel sorry for Tori because of what happened to his sister and because of his childhood. Okay, sure. But the way he treated Kaelen, and the way he behaved in general, has absolutely nothing to do with his sister.
Tori is a disgusting excuse for a not so human being. He is the biggest hypocrite I have ever encountered in a book. I kept hoping he would spontaneously combust, but unfortunately that never happened. They could have launched him into space too...
Tori voluntarily signs up for the program. From the very beginning, he receives advantages and special treatment, yet he spends the entire time complaining. Then he proceeds to ruin Kaelen's life (Kaelen did not wanted him...) and somehow has the audacity to bully Kaelen over something that Tori himself chose.
Hypocrite. And a bully.
Tori is a vile bully toward Kaelen, emotionally abusive, and once Kaelen gets involved with him, he practically stops existing as his own person.
I honestly can't remember the last time a book made me this angry.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The first about 75% of this was fantastic. It was dramatic, swoon-worthy, and peak angst. And then I have no idea what happened but it changed immediately. The conflict happened and I feel like it never actually got solved. Like they never truly had a conversation about it and then other things got in the way so they kinda just moved on? I don’t know. Seemed bizarre to me. Overall though, Kaelen and Tory were a lot of fun to read about. Tory’s story was so fascinating and hysterical that there’s no way to not enjoy it and Kaelen being obsessed immediately and willing to sacrifice everything was too flipping cute. So I did like the book and the plot, just that weird 20% I didn’t know how to feel about it. But with the way this one ended I am looking forward to Joey’s book:)

Reading "Bound to You" has been a delight. It was hard to put the book down and do something else! I would give it a solid 4/5, the writing was easy to enjoy and the characters interesting to see evolve and interact even if they had some communication issues (but hey who wouldn't in these circumstances?). I thought the dynamics were nice, especially the trio between Tory, Joey and Noah. I wish I'd known more about some areas mentioned in the book, but I have great hope there will be more to come and other stories to follow! Maybe not just on the station, but it was a very well done amuse-bouche that definitely made me hungry for more. I want to thank the author for their hard work and this great story! Merci ✨️

I’m very biased with this one 😭
There were some really sweet moments, and I loved the beginning, but the further I got, the more the lack of communication between the MMCs drove me crazy 😭 I was internally screaming, “Please just talk to each other!”
I still enjoyed parts of it and would recommend giving it a try, but consider yourself warned if miscommunication frustrates you as much as it frustrates me 🫣✨

The second half kind of lost its momentum for me but overall, this was still a really fun take on omegaverse-adjacent alien romance. It's what I needed!

Cute. But like… why. I like them both but neither of them take even 5 seconds to say “here are my feelings. Help.” So they just spend a good portion not knowing what the other is doing or assuming they actually don’t want each other. I get miscommunication but that’s usually resolved. There was no actual communication to fix that problem. Cute but not cute enough to make up for the lack of communication.

I honestly didn't expect to love this book as much as I do. I pushed back my reading of this story first a while and now I regret it because it's one of the best of this year for me. Definitely buying the physical copy!
Both characters are likable and true to themselves. We focus more on the emotional bonding than the spicy scenes which pleased me greatly. And can we please talk about the fact that humans who were selected to participate in the program (aka male humans) had a talk about where tampons should go since they will all have a womb grown in them? It was honestly hilarious sometimes and it brought a lightness to the story that I really loved. I highly recommend this book and look forward to read about other couples!
*One thing that I really enjoyed is that forgiveness wasn't a given in this book : there was an altercation with a character and even if they asked forgiveness multiple times, Tory didn't forgive them and this brought me a LOT of satisfaction. Because forgiveness isn't easy and sometimes you just can't forgive, you just move on.

July 6, 2026After seeing that AI was used for this book, I got it from KU to check if my usual red flags were there and yep. So what I look for with a new author to make sure I don’t support anyone using AI. I always check the page right after the cover and the acknowledgments one
- cover credit : if there is no credit it’s AI, in this book the author credits midjourney so yep.
- no editor or editing team mentioned : usually very suspicious, even as an indie and self published author, you need someone to edit your work (editing your own work is not a good idea)
- no mention of people beta reading or again people helping with the editing in the acknowledgments (if nobody was credited at the start ), again very suspicious, no one can write, edit and publish a book without any kind of help.
So basically the less humans credited and mentioned : the more likely AI was heavily used

AI had a heavy hand in making this book, which I strongly disagree with.
You remove the human element from a creative work and what are you left with?
Nothing. It's empty.
On their website they say they use AI to help 'checking whether a scene works emotionally'.
AI has no emotions, it's just pulling from stolen work. And as the cover is AI, that is also from stolen, real, human art.
I don't care if authors use it as a giant spell/grammar checker. I *do* care if they use it to Frankenstein together stolen, human art into whatever shape they feel entitled to.

Bound to You is an MM, sci-fi, romance! Tory is broke, like really broke. His mother and step father don’t help and his sister is on death’s door, fighting cancer. He is getting desperate, there are ways to help his sister but nothing he can afford. There is a way to get the treatments but it would be a huge sacrifice.
In their world, there is the Genesis Program, where you are sent to space to undergo a life changing opportunity. Tory has heard the rumors, that anyone who goes, never comes back. He doesn’t have any choice though when his sister is sent to hospice and his mother begs him to help her.
He signs up and without being able to say goodbye, is sent to space.
There, he undergoes a series of medical treatments to change his biology to more alien, where he will be mated off to an alien who needs offspring.
Kaelen is a respected officer on board, who protects those on board. He is a rule follower and comes from a prestigious line, meant for great things. He meets Tory and everything changes.
This was a cute, low-mid angst sci-fi story. It’s not exactly alpha/omega but it definitely reads like it and Tory even goes into a type of heat. There is a found family and learning to embrace the change. Kaelen is weirdly sweet- having dropped his title once he found Tory to be his mate. He becomes fully devoted to his little mate and will do anything for him.

I’m rating this one a 5 stars, but I think it was more 4.5 stars. I really enjoyed the world building and story for this book. I felt like I had a clear understanding of what we were being told as a sort of introduction to the series.
The really enjoyed Kaelan as a character and found his species to be very interesting. Tory I had some problems with. I really enjoyed how this whole thing brought light to where the program could make improvements and bring about change. Buttttttt, Tory was just TOOO mean at times. I really felt bad for Kaelan who also wasn’t expecting any of this to happen.
The pacing was a tad off for me. It’s such a nice foundation set and a good 30% before the characters even interact. But then we have like 60% of Tory being mean and then 10% of him finally recognizing Kaelan’s care. I wish we got more of them happy and together.
I love and hate finding new authors cause it’s fun to see new ideas and writing style but sad when there’s only one book out! Lol
I’m excited to see more of what this series has in store. Joey and “Gremlin” should be an interesting read.

Is this the best book out there? No. Did I read it in one sitting? Yes. Yes, I did.
For a first-time author, this book was really, really great! I’ve read waaaaay worse from established authors, so I’m actually kinda impressed 🫶🏼
I LOVE reading monster/alien MM romance, and I would describe myself as a bit of an MM alien connoisseur. Therefore, I couldn’t help but notice that some of the plot was a biiiiiit close to the book How to Train Your Human Omega. That said, I think that’s more a case of the story being a bit too generic rather than it being a knockoff.
I won’t go too much into detail about the plot because, honestly, based on the blurb, it’s pretty self-explanatory.
Therefore, I’ll list some of the things I personally care about when deciding whether I want to pick up a book! And honestly, this is probably more feedback for the author than anything 🤷🏼♀️
I would have liked a bit more world-building. I get the storyline and the setup for the next books, but I still feel like some scenes could have been a bit more. We don’t really know much about anyone except our main MC. I would have liked more insight into the aliens (I will not look up the name of the species, I’m sorry). We get told a bit about how they used to reproduce, but not really? How are their genders different? Do the “carrier” aliens have a penis? I know that’s a bit “wtf,” but I feel like it has some relevance, honestly. Also, what is their planet like? How old do they get? Will the humans live as long as their mates? I have a lot of questions haha.
Also, as some of the other reviews have pointed out, Troy is a bit annoying at times. He knew exactly what he signed up for, so I don’t really understand why he struggles so much. I get that he’s nervous about losing autonomy, but that ship kinda sailed, my dude. And I get that he was straight before, but I feel like it could have been handled a bit better. Or maybe it’s just me because I hate miscommunication, and that’s a pretty big part of the story here.
The ending felt a bit rushed too. Again, that might just be me, but I personally don’t like it when outside forces are what get the MCs together. I prefer when they figure their feelings out together, and not only because other people push them in the “right” direction.
This might make it sound like I didn’t enjoy the book. But I did. I definitely did. However, had this book not been written by a new author, I probably would have rated it 3 ⭐️.
Also, if you get triggered by too many descriptors (filler words? I’m honestly not sure what they’re called, sorry), be aware that there are a few chapters with a lot of them. I just skimmed over those parts, and it was a better reading experience. Sorry not sorry.
But if you want a very low-angst MM alien romance where you don’t have to think too much, then this is a book for you.

Such A Fun Debut
This was such a fun and unexpected find. Debut books can be hit or miss but this one left me wanting more.
The MMCs in this book share a mate bond but I appreciated the slow pace of their romance and spicy encounters. The entire storyline is intriguing and the world building was seriously impressive. Though the book really only takes place in a handful of locations the descriptions and uniqueness of the characters and world are an easy assurance than future books are going to take us to some interesting places.
The romance in this book was great beyond the general frustration of miscommunication. I appreciated the slow pace to their relationship and the progression from Tory seeking the Genesis program to his bonding with Kaelen was great. It was impossible not to connect and care for both MMCs with the slow pace and dual POV. I loved the huge cast of interesting side characters and I’m already planning out possible pairs or interesting future plot points certain couples could create.
This will definitely be a reread for me someday soon but in the meantime I’m going to have fun thinking about all the other characters who will hopefully get their own books!

Tory really reminded me of Carter from Human Omega: Discovered on the Slave Planet & Kaelen felt a lot like Viper from Viper's Hope & the culture clash reminded me of the world of Saving Askara. I wish the author had leaned a little harder into the body horror of being slowly transformed like Indigo: Alien Hunting Grounds Book 1, but I'll forgive it as there was already a huge heaping of relationship angst to sink my teeth into.

This was so good. The kind of book that wraps around you so effortlessly that you don’t even realize how deeply you’ve fallen into it until the last page.
Everything flowed with such ease every interaction, every emotion, every quiet little moment in between.
I adored the MCs with my whole heart, but the side characters were just as vivid and alive. Nothing felt flat or forgotten. And fated mates? Absolute kryptonite for me. Add the soft, intoxicating omegaverse atmosphere and I was completely gone. The world felt warm, immersive, almost tangible — like I could see every glance, feel every touch, breathe in every scene alongside them
