Review of advance copy
This was a fun read like it collects issue 7-10 and that one shot!
There are some really cool stories here like that issue where Jon is learning to be a reporter and learns about the mole men and I really like how it shows him following the lgeacy of his parents as reporters and leads to some cool scenes lol and then a story with a crew of a spaceship including Lois take off from earth and well when aliens attack and try to do Secret invasions of their own (Durlans duh) how he saves them and that was a fun issue!
I love how this run is so silver-age inspired in a good way and has so many cool stories and even if you read that issue that day you will have such a cool time and then seeing Superman teamup with Guy gardner was so cool and then the next 2 issues as someone is targeting Perry white cuz there's a bounty on him and how will Superman save him.. oof that one was so fun like this new version of Prankster and he is so deadly and committed to the job and I just love how Superman's new weakness or 200 sec timelimit rule is there and his villains are aware of that!
It leads to some really cool stories and like puts real stakes here and its awesome and Slott is on fire with like these interpretations of old villains and doing something new with them like first Toyman and then now Prankster and I kinda hope these 2 return and I want more battles of them vs Superman!
And then there is the valentine's special with Creeper-Livewire and Jesus christ so much word-vomit like way too much text reminded me of Bendis like not in a good way.. it didn't need to have that much text every page and sure there were some good moments here and there but for the most part it was like "can this get over already" and like sure it showed Creeper falling in love with Livewire and how he saved her multiple times and had some cool messages but for the most part it was like what even?! The last story with Bill zarro which was like 1/3rd the length of this was way better and omg I actually enjoyed that more!
A fun volume which has some cool stories and some which are like not good but for the most part the ones written by Dan Slott are really cool and show Superman's world in a really cool light.. this is like the metropolis centered book which I kinda like more and just shows Superman's world in the best way showing the cast around him and how it has so many insane villains and all!

Другий том «Супермена без меж» виглядає як збірка комікісів, що постійно вагається між великим сюжетом про криптоніт і бажанням піти вбік. Після першого тому хотілося, щоб історія нарешті міцніше вчепилася в наслідки появи майже необмеженої кількості криптоніту на Землі. Натомість комікс часто працює за принципом: «так, загроза глобальна, але ось вам ще один побічний квест».
Найкраще це видно у випуску зі Смолвілем, Джоном Кентом і Сталезаводом. Ідея повернути Джона до більш класичної супергеройської формули та ще й через секретну особистість, окуляри й журналістику має свій шарм. Також Лукас Меєр малює все це легко, чисто й симпатично. Не сказав би, що історія сильно мені сподобалася, але було досить цікаво читати.
Космічний випуск із Лоїс, Ґаєм Ґарднером і космічним кораблем обіцяє більше, ніж отримуєш по факту. Лоїс у космосі — це майже готовий сильний номер, особливо коли корабель працює на криптоніті й Супермен не може просто прилетіти й усе вирішити. Але сюжет швидко з’їжджає в доволі стандартну історію про прибульців, а Лоїс, попри заявлену важливість, часто залишається збоку. Зате візуально політ, космос, та сам Ґай виглядають досить добре.
Найміцнішою історію, на мою думку, є двосерійна історія з новим Пранкстером. Ден Слотт і Майк Нортон вдало перетворюють старого жартівника на неприємного, медійно отруйного вбивцю, для якого приниження жертви важливе не менше за саму смерть. Тут нарешті з’являється потрібна напруга. Сцени, де він викручується без повного переходу в режим Супермена, мають той старий добрий смак супергеройської винахідливості. І так, момент, коли всі на площі надто легко бачать його вразливість до криптоніту й перехід у Золотого Супермена, виглядає ефектно, але залишає після себе питання: це справді велика зміна статус-кво чи ще одна штука, яку зручно забудуть після цієї арки? Хоча вже другий том підряд ми маємо Золотого Супермена...
Також у томі пристуній спецвипуск «Супермен: Лани любові» — несподівано тепле, кумедне й трохи божевільно романтичне доповнення. Лія Вільямс добре ловить сучасну медійну нервовість: радіо, стрими, токсичну популярність, потребу бути почутим. Роман двох диваків-лиходіїв не намагається бути великим одкровенням, але читається також непогано.
У підсумку том досить нерівний, але точно не є поганим. Він часто відволікається, іноді недотискає власні ідеї, зате має кілька справді вдалих сцен, хороший малюнок і відчуття, що світ Супса усе ще може дивувати, навіть коли робить це трохи хаотично.

The second volume of Superman Unlimited feels a bit disjointed.
The actual four issues of the series collected here are decent enough to start us off with, but they're all over the place. The first issue reminded me just how much I missed Jon Kent having his own ongoing, so there's that in its favour, while the second issue is mostly just Guy Gardener being a dickhead. Beautiful art from Lucas Meyer on these two though. The two-part Prankster story is solid, though the ending falls a bit flat - Mike Norton's art is pretty solid though.
It feels like Slott's spinning his wheels a bit after the first arc of the series reset the whole Kryptonite status quo on Earth, and it doesn't feel like this title's got a direction outside of telling decent-ish Superman stories. Which is fine, don't get me wrong, just...kind of disappointing when it's been a long time since we had three Superman titles on the stands.
Also included, mostly for padding, it seems, is the Superman: Love In Chains special, which features a lead story that's meant to be a commentary on right-wing podcasters with an ending that doesn't deliver on the point that I think Leah Williams was aiming for, and a back-up story about Bill Zarro, a perfectly normal human who ends up on Bizarro World, which is amusing enough for an 8 pager.
It feels a bit early for a title to be floundering at DC after just 10 issues - Marvel would have canned this already knowing them, so I'm hoping for a bit more direction with the Reign Of The Superboys arc on the horizon.

Very much a mixed bag of content in this volume which reprints Superman Unlimited #7-10 as well as the Superman Chains of Love Special #1. Issue #7 was a miss for me and concerns Jon Kent investigating some trouble in Smallville. In any event Superman doesn't really appear much in #7 - nearly always a bad sign when the hero is absent and it reads like filler. Issues #8-#10 are much more solid featuring Lois Lane in space and the Prankster in some entertaining tales. The sub-plot with Jon Kent doesn't feels a bit pointless and it doesn't go anywhere in this collected edition. Finally, the book is rounded out with a "Superman" Special. I use the inverted commas because Superman doesn't really appear as it is actually a Creeper Special and a pretty tedious one at that. I have absolutely no idea why this issue of Creeper has been included in a Superman Unlimited collected edition.
