PLEASE NOTE: Downstream is being released in episodes, each one in the region of 15,000 words (roughly 60 pages).
Let me introduce myself. My name is Joseph Bridgeman. I am a moderately depressed, reclusive insomniac with a failing antiques business and a constant headache. And you need to trust me when I tell you, that’s the good bit. I thought my day started badly but where I ended up? I could never, ever, possibly have imagined. Oh, did I just say where? What I meant to say was when…
Book 2 follows on directly from book 1 as Joe Bridgeman tries to understand exactly what's going on. Is he hallucinating due to his insomnia? Is he going mad? Or is he really able to time-travel? Less happens in this episode than the first but just spending time with Bridgeman is a real joy. Roll on episode 3!
A good continuation - it's hard to rate episodes in a longer story though, as none are complete without the others and only part of a whole.
This does make you want to read on though - Joe has now discovered he can time travel and we see him go to.... Yesterday?! Unusual idea, and one that will build through parts 3-7, we can see.
We have more background on Joe - his schools days, bullies and how he got past the situation, and we meet his Mum, suffering from Alzheimer's. You can see it's all going to play a role later on.
Enjoying this so far. I was going to read this in between other books, but Ive decided, for continuity as well as because I like it, I'm going to read the episodes straight through.
With thanks to the author for the promotional copy, sent for review purposes.
If you haven't read "Downstream: Episode 1" - why not?! You have no idea what you're missing out on!
Nick Jones continues the story of Joseph Bridgeman with a style that is all his own. There are plenty of chuckles and a few tears that will need to be wiped away.
"Downstream" is a perfectly crafted and well-rounded, fun-filled dose of entertainment.
I received this book free in exchange for an honest review.
Book 2 - This time we get alot more background on the main character, as he starts opening up about his past, and the time travel begins...
I love the way this is written every now and then it's as if the character speaks directly to you from the pages. If this was made into a TV series I could see Christian Slater playing the part of Joe.
Awesome book about Time Traveling. This book has more story and more "Events" and a little bit more I'll information about why this character is able to do just that. I enjoyed this book more than the last one. Can't wait to start the next one and find out what happens next!
This is not your typical time travel story. The background is important, so I hope you've read #1. This is a twisty story. At first, I wasn't sure what to think, but as I read, it was getting better. Mr. Jones has taken time travel to another level.
Kindle Unlimited but freebie day for me. Interesting concept, but with the multiple episodes, if had found it that way, would have been ticked. Wondering since longer version if all sections were just put together or if it was 'fixed' in some way a full season/book length, because kept losing me as to what and who was going on and doing what. Since read a lot, and a LOT of time travel, this is definitely on the writer's side not mine. Just much informations/background in some places and not enough in others. Needed better sectioning to explain time/date happening in.
