INFINITY STARS!!!!!! 🌟
one of the best things i’ve EVER read. god tier from page one. nothing will top it. i can’t even put into words how phenomenal, beautiful, breathtaking, heartbreaking and utterly soul destroying this book is. kaan veagor, you will never be dethroned as #1 book husband. ever. i feel his devotion deep in my bones 😭😭😭 their love is so unmatched it makes my soul ache.

“ever hopeful. until my final breath”

i need to process - i have so much to say but i don’t know how to do it justice right now & i need to think how to convey my thoughts without giving anything away 😭
but raeve my GIRL. ill die on a hill defending her against anything. her journey and her growth torn me to pieces. 'my soul shatters like a fallen moon, my heartstrings fraying' 😭
then everything else. everyone else. just WOW. fucking WOW!!!! the way so many things came to together and unraveled. i am at a loss for words. like i’m so deeply unwell. sarah’s writing just does something to me, it’s so unbelievably beautiful, it makes everything hit so much deeper. like im blown away. she wasn’t kidding when she said the dragons were so integral either. but anyway, that was utterly IMMACULATE. killed me, but immaculate.
sarah thank you for this complete MASTERPIECE but i want to know who hurt you cause i spent this whole book crying and wanting to throw up 😭
the ending just took me out. this book made me feel emotions i didn’t know existed.
i could read this book on repeat for the rest of my life and die a happy (albeit it broken) person. i’m sorry but it is that deep to me, this is my everything. they are everything to me. i am spent from the tears. kaan and raeve are my world forever more.

They are mine, I am theirs, and they will see the sky again. Or Creators hear me, the world will rupture beneath my fingertips.

"Thank you.. for loving her as much as I do."
😭

i’ll be back with a proper review soon. might start my reread now. also might die.

_______
IT’S HERE! no i’m already crying 😭 the sequel to one of my favourite books to ever exist!!!!!!!! I AM SO UNWELL ALREADY. kaan my husband, i am gunna be sick. praise be my kindle still thinks im in new zealand rn!! i am freaking out, yes its that serious to me 😭 (if u think i’m insane, i am)

5 Stunning Stars - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Ballad of Falling Dragons unraveled itself as a melancholic ballad steeped in dark truths, lingering grief, and undying love.

Death and dragons intertwine within a ruinous ballad, and theirs becomes the most breathtaking and devastating ballad of all.

Echoes of its haunting melodies lingered long after I turned that last page of that epilogue.

This installment made my chest ache with unbearable sorrow and dread—all while I felt a catastrophe, like a great shadow, looming around the corners of the story up to the climax.

It was inevitable that this story would ruin me.

The agony was not that it ruined me—it was the fact that I craved the ruin and the hurt and devoured every page with an insatiable hunger for more.

Mind you, traces of my tears are still wet and gleaming on my cheeks. A marker of a story that touched me deeply and devastated my soul.

That is the Sarah A. Parker experience. And I must have some sadistic streak in me that I know I would not survive a story written by that woman and her poetic stunning prose unscathed.

She is a master storyteller who crafts such complex and layered dark tales while effortlessly lacing every word with emotion. I can feel the love and the grief she poured into this.

The truths I had long awaited to unravel wounded me far more deeply than I have anticipated... or prepared myself for. Such precious bonds and memories I thought were long-forgotten in the past emerged so beautifully and heartbreakingly.

Raeve and Kaan's love is so achingly tender that has my heart both hurt and flutter. The feral passion between them is an inferno that is impossible to extinguish and would consume all those who would stand between them and their love.

As shattered remnants of their past were pieced together to reveal devastating truths that had me in tears, Raeve and Kaan's love endures with the same unrelenting devotion it did beyond grief and death.

If Raeve and Kaan are the beating heart of the story, then Kyzari is the quiet soul that softly flutters within it. She is an element of surprise awaiting to be unfolded.

The veil that shrouded their merciless world is lifted, I'm struck with the realization of how far darker the story is.

Even as I'm filled with dread, I am impressed by the effortless way the story has expanded through additional perspectives which elevated it spectacularly.

It is littered with clues and threads for starved lore hunters and theorists such as myself to gorge on.

This book is worthy of a song or a poem as an ode to its poetic author, yet I can't help but acknowledge my humble review has not done it justice and could never fully capture how raw and emotionally devastating it truly felt.

Thank you Harper Collins and NetGalley for gifting me with an eARC, it's an incredible honor.

“its you and me. you and me, moonbeam. until the end.”

♾️⭐️
infinity stars. GOD TIER. kaan and raeve own a part of my soul at this point. 😭

raeve is my favourite fmc EVER. her journey and everything she’s had to endure to get to where she is BROKE ME. literally i’m crying again whilst writing this.

“promise me you’ll live, raeve. that you’ll keep breathing. that you’ll keep fighting to find the happiness we’ve spoken about.”

nobody will EVER top kaan vaegor as being #1. never ever ever. his love for raeve makes me feel physically unwell. their love story will forever be my favourite.

“you’re holding yourself differently.” this man knows his girl INSIDE OUT!!!!

everything to do with the dragons just made me sob. slátra, líri, raygun: my babies 😭 they were all such a fundamental part to this story i love them so much.

the side characters were everything and brought so much depth (and emotional pain) to the plot. i’m so happy we got more povs in this one. pyrok is hot as fuck!!!!! i need more of him.

“she could ask for my soul and i’d put a fucking bow on it.”

i’m so unwell after reading this. my heart hurts. i don’t know how sarah managed to make this even better but she did. i could reread both books over and over again for the rest of my life and id never get bored. yes it’s that serious.

I’m struggling to find words that encompass all my thoughts about The Ballad of Falling Dragons by Sarah A Parker. This is surely falling short, however I’m left with a singular thought, “Is this my favorite book ever?” Raeve and Kaan are back in book two navigating their second chance romance while an epic game of creators and kings orbits their next moves. There are moments of intimate connection and legendary action that kept me floating from one chapter to the next completely engrossed.

Sarah’s writing leans heavily into high fantasy themes and story telling techniques, so I recommend a reread or recap of When The Moon Hatched before you dive in. If you remember, we have a lot of key characters in different places with objectives of their own. Also, there are so may places and characters that all play into the epic story Sarah is telling. The Fantasy Fangirls Podcast has an episode of “Everything You Need to Know Before The Ballad of Falling Dragons” that’s perfect for the job!

As a reader, we were left with a HUGE reveal at the end of When The Moon Hatched and I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see how it would play out in the next installment of the story. Here are some things you can look forward to that won’t spoil the plot!

A direct continuation of the story from When The Moon Hatched
10 POVs!
More flashbacks of the past for context

Thank you Avon, NetGalley, and Sarah A Parker for the chance to read an advance copy for my honest opinion.

Woooooooshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Well that's gonna be hard to follow.

4.5 ⭐️ RU.

I have no words, really. Not anything intellectual at least. I am woozy.

Raeve is mfn bad ass. The moment in the arena when she does the double-flip (iykyk), simple as it was, it was absolutely bolstering. Electrifying. Hell, even I was bloodlusting during that scene. & hard.

Kaan. Well what can I say. I just wanna lick his face.

There's just so much to this story, it feels impossible to review AND do it any justice.

This is me rn.

Ballad's gonna give me a bangover, 100%.

SPOILER FREE 👇🏼

I finished this about 10 seconds ago. For now, I’m going with 4.25⭐️

Far from perfect, Ballad lulls significantly in the second act and had me sending frustrated voice notes to one of my best friends. The contents of which will become my full review (with spoilers) at a later date. I want to give people time to get through it, first!

I’m pretty sure there are plot holes. ‘Pretty sure’ because I need to go back over my annotations to see if full context offers more clarity.

That said.

The final act of the novel, beginning around chapter 60, is absolutely doused in jet fuel. I was riveted, stressed, and completely engrossed.

And that cliffhanger? Sarah, you evil woman, you knew exactly what you were doing.

I can almost guarantee that a first draft doesn’t even existyet, but I cannot get my grubby little hands on book 3 soon enough.

Stay tuned for a full review, which I’ll pop down below with a spoiler warning. I cannot wait to discuss theories with all of you!!!

ARC Review: I am so incredibly thankful to the author for allowing me to read this book early, in order to work on some art work for its upcoming release.

The Ballad of Falling Dragons completely drew me in from the very beginning. The writing is lyrical and atmospheric, bringing the world to life in a way that feels vivid and almost tangible, as though you are moving through it rather than simply reading.

What stayed with me most is the depth woven throughout the story. It unfolds with care, balancing an intricate plot with characters who feel real in all their complexity. The dragons and creatures are also a big part of why this book is so precious, they are described with such clarity that they linger in your mind long after. And of course, Kaan, steady, patient, and deeply devoted, he brings a quiet strength that makes his presence unforgettable.

This book carries a wide range of emotions. It is intense, at times darker than the first, and filled with tension as well as heart. I did find myself frustrated with some of Raeve’s choices, but it felt intentional, part of a larger emotional arc that ultimately made the story resonate even more, and have so much more impact.

Everything comes together with a quiet precision, like a carefully woven story where each piece gradually falls into place. It is immersive, emotional, at times heartbreaking, and truly breathtaking.

I would wholeheartedly recommend it to readers who love high fantasy and fantasy romance, richly imagined worlds, and stories that balance epic scale with deeply personal emotion, especially if you are drawn to romances that feel all consuming.

As an artist, I am already thinking of so many scenes I want to bring to life.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (and honestly, more if I could)

I absolutely loved the first book.
But this is extremely unprofessional to keep pushing the date back both for the readers AND author... July to October to February to April and now May 19th. If we can even believe that at this point?

I agree with what others said about being okay to give the author/editors time to make the book great. But other publishers are able to manage that process without giving 4 false release dates! Get it together HarperCollins.

“you and me, moonbeam.” “until the end.”

holy six stars. i didn’t even think it was possible to surpass when the moon hatched, but sarah absolutely nailed it. my heart ACHED the entirety of this book.

everything about this book was so perfect that it’s genuinely hard to put into words. the plot twists, the world building, the emotional depth, the characters, every relationship and revelation. it all felt so intricately woven together with the most lyrical, poetic writing. these characters go through so much which is so raw, heartbreaking, but still healing. i honestly cannot wrap my head around how sarah writes the way she does.

“𝒈𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒇 𝒘𝒂𝒍𝒌𝒔 𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒊𝒏 𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆. 𝒊 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝒊𝒕’𝒔 𝒕𝒆𝒎𝒑𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒐 𝒄𝒖𝒕 𝒂𝒘𝒂𝒚 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒑𝒂𝒊𝒏, 𝒃𝒖𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒓𝒊𝒃-𝒄𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒄𝒉𝒆 𝒊𝒔 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒈𝒐𝒐𝒅 𝒄𝒂𝒎𝒆 𝒇𝒊𝒓𝒔𝒕. 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒉 𝒓𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒎𝒃𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈.”

i don’t think i’ve ever read such a heartbreakingly beautiful love story. kaan and raeve’s love is like no other. the lengths they will and do go to for each other absolutely wrecked me. kaan has solidified himself as one of my top tier book bfs because that man YEARNS like he got a degree in it. and raeve is genuinely one of the strongest and most beloved fmcs i’ve ever read.

“𝒕𝒓𝒖𝒆 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒅𝒐𝒆𝒔𝒏’𝒕 𝒆𝒙𝒑𝒊𝒓𝒆, 𝒓𝒂𝒆𝒗𝒆. 𝒊𝒕 𝒄𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝒂 𝒘𝒆𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕, 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒏 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒚𝒐𝒖’𝒓𝒆 𝒅𝒓𝒐𝒘𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈.”

the side characters and side plots added so much depth to this story as well. veya and kyzari… heartbreaking. grihm and pyrok? i’ll take fifty more of their povs tysm. and the dragons… i cannot even explain how many times i sobbed over them oh my god.

“𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝒅𝒓𝒂𝒈𝒐𝒏𝒔 𝒍𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒗𝒆𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒂𝒎𝒆 𝒘𝒂𝒚 𝒂𝒔 𝒂 𝒃𝒍𝒐𝒐𝒅𝒍𝒖𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒇𝒂𝒆, 𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝒔𝒊𝒎𝒑𝒍𝒚 𝒚𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒏 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒆 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒅.”

the plot twists and revelations genuinely had me on the floor every single time. nonstop pain, every single chapter. this is high fantasy at its absolute best. huge in scope, emotional to its core, and completely immersive. this book destroyed me in every possible way and i never wanted it to end.

this book made me feel every single emotion. after reading when the moon hatched a year ago, that story never really left my brain. and now somehow this book has rooted itself even deeper into me. while so many things came full circle, i still have so many questions and i’m going to be losing sleep over them until the next book.

“𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒊 𝒘𝒐𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓 𝒉𝒐𝒘 𝒊 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒃𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒅 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒇𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒊𝒏 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒎𝒂𝒍𝒆 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒂𝒏 𝒐𝒑𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏. 𝒉𝒐𝒘 𝒊 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒃𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒅 𝒊 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒄𝒂𝒑𝒂𝒃𝒍𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒑𝒖𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒎𝒚𝒔𝒆𝒍𝒇 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒂𝒕𝒎𝒐𝒔𝒑𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆.”
