“Best Practices or Pitfall” is a good practical book for young leaders to learn how to avoid mistakes and seasoned leaders to be reminded why they do what they do.
The book is an easy read that has plenty of practical lessons for the team leader. The three biggest lessons I got out of the book are empowering employees/followers, creating plans, and not micromanaging. All the chapters felt like they were funneling into those three ideas with other small lessons.
There was a chapter on emails that really threw me for a loop. While it is good advice and most high performing leaders must implement, I felt like it doesn’t belong in this book.
The book stayed away from theories of leadership and focused on the practical day to day interactions. The author drew a large amounts of advice from his own practical experience. There is much more to leadership than just what is addressed in this book but the areas it does cover provides a refreshing view and helpful advice.
