“Puck to My Heart” is the first book in “A Heart on Ice Series.” Maverick “Blizzard” McKenzie is the captain, number 13, of the Canucks National Hockey Team. He is controlled and disciplined on the ice, he is use to winning. Rebecca Bear Thompson is a rising female ice hockey star but is basically forced by her mother into pairs ice skating. Forced to relocate from Minnesota, leave her team the Minnesota Storm behind, her friends and move to Canada, she is barely holding her life together. Her father was Coach Thompson - a legend in the ice hockey world, but know he is gone. After the divorce, her mother Elenoir Olson, never bothered with her, until now….

On arrival in Silverpeak, she needs a drink or two where she meets Maverick “Blizzard” McKenzie….”Ice-pale eyes. Dark hair. A jawline that looks like it was designed to make women forget their own names. That's just his face. The rest of him is a mountain range of muscle pressing against the thin fabric of his dress shirt.” After having a drink and a meal together, Rebecca ends up in his bed….after a night together that neither can forget. After arriving at her mother’s, with meeting her fiancee, she realises that she is marrying Maverick’s father….he is going to be her stepbrother.

“She was born to be on the ice. He was born to rule it”

There is never a dull moment! This book is everything you expect from a sports romance with a touch of alpha male thrown in. I’m very happily hooked - I did not want it to end! Once I started reading, I could not put this book down! At times you will laugh, you will cry, get angry and frustrated - most of all, you will love the twists! This book will charm “the pants off you” and leave you going back for more. This is a lovely book that will keep you hooked! It has fun, laughs, intrigue, twists that you do not expect, and physical attraction. You will fall in love with Maverick and Rebecca. They compliment each in some many ways - faults and all.

“She tastes like fire and ice and everything that has always felt like home. And I kiss her like it's the most important thing I've ever done. Because it is. Because she is. Because we are finally, improbably, exactly here.”

I was hooked by the first chapter. This is a lovely book that will keep you hooked! It has fun, laughs, intrigue, twists that you do not expect, and physical attraction. I thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful love story. From page to page, chapter to chapter, from cover to cover - you will enjoy this beautiful story. This book will not disappoint! Highly recommended 😊

Puck to My Heart, the first book in the A Heart on Ice series, introduces us to Maverick “Blizzard” McKenzie, the disciplined captain of the Canucks National Hockey Team. Used to winning on the ice, he is a man who demands control. His world is turned upside down when he meets Rebecca “Bear” Thompson, a rising hockey star who has been uprooted from her life in Minnesota. After the loss of her legendary father and years of estrangement from her mother, Rebecca finds herself forced into the world of pairs figure skating in Canada, barely holding her life together.

Their paths cross at a local bar in Silverpeak, where the chemistry between them is immediate and undeniable. After an unforgettable night together, the reality of their situation shatters their peace. When Rebecca arrives at her mother’s home to meet her future stepfather, she discovers that the man marrying her mother is none other than Maverick’s father, effectively making them step-siblings.

The story is a quintessential sports romance filled with high stakes and intense emotional conflict. Maverick is the golden boy who owns every room he enters, while Rebecca is a fighter disguised by grace—a hockey player at heart trapped in a figure skater’s world. Their attraction is forbidden, yet they find themselves unable to stay away. Every argument burns with heat, and every glance only heightens the tension they are desperate to suppress.

I was hooked from the very first chapter. It is a beautiful, addictive read that perfectly balances laughter, intrigue, and raw emotion. Whether you are laughing, crying, or feeling the frustration of their circumstances, you cannot help but fall in love with Maverick and Rebecca as they navigate family secrets and undeniable passion.

Featuring the "he falls first" trope, a protective alpha hero, and plenty of emotional angst, this book delivers exactly what fans of the genre crave. Puck to My Heart is a steamy, compelling story that reminds us that some rules are meant to be broken and some loves are worth the fall. I highly recommend this beautiful love story—it is a journey you won’t want to end.
